HI girls sorry i havent been about much.... life with 2 young ones is a challenge!

Just a quick word to elf - be carefull with the mango etc for Evie, some babies get horrendus nappy rash with citrusy fruits - JEss can onyl just now tolerate a small amount of satsuma and she is 19 months old. (Not saying dont do it, just warning what can happen)

Still not Becky on solids - she just doesnt seem ready.... have tried but she is just spitting it all out!

Sleep is hit and miss during the day.... but still sleeping a good 12 hours at night, perhaps waking once!

RedTartanLass · 07/03/2006 14:58

Wow to all the rollers Grin Maybe I should put dd on her tummy sometime, but she hates it and yells like mad!!

Mummygow – dd is fine now, thanks very much

Mawbroon – hope your nipples are betterGrin

Nanny started today, 3 weeks before I go back to work Sad, so I’ve been to the dentist today and tomorrow might go swimming for a couple of hours. At least they’ll have 3 weeks to get used to each other with me being here. IYSWIM

trice · 07/03/2006 15:19

I wish I had my nanny back Envy

I am trying to make her a rag doll from her outgrown baby clothes. When I get a moment to myself.

trice · 07/03/2006 15:20

the doll is for Hannah - not the nanny!

Elf1981 · 07/03/2006 16:50

Thanks for the info J&RM, shall keep an eye out!

Isn't Avacado baby sick lovely??!!

So far, Evie will eat carrots, potatoes, sweed, bananna, peach, apple, blueberry... but wont eat baby rice or avacado. Oh and she'll have a go with chocolate if given half the chance (ie grabbing it off me or being "forcefed" by the PIL's!)

Gosh, I know a load of people who are getting pregnant at the moment! DH's step sister is pregnant, three friends at work are pregnant...

Oh and my younger sister changed a poohey nappy of Evie's today for the first time, it was the best laugh I've had in ages Grin

right in middle of feeding cameron and have just decided that bath time will now be sfter dinner - he now has a broccoli green baby grow, hands, eyebrows lo Grin

JustBonnie · 08/03/2006 09:20

Well done to all the babies who've been rolling Smile Ruby rolls over (well if I give her a hand Grin) I've been showing her how to do it but she's quite happy just laying there.

She's eating really well and her favourite dinner is sweet potato and carrot. She seems to prefer the dinner course to the pudding which is good. I've ordered a new high chair which should be with me today, it's one that reclines so they can go in it quite early. She is too big for her infant seat and has even outgrown the bouncy chair so it's hard finding a good place to feed her. I'm also looking forward to her being with us at the table at meal times as she looks so left out of things!

She still loves her door bouncer but I've also started sitting her up in her baby nest. She sits in there with all her toys and is happy for ages and I know that if she topples she won't hurt herself. Really good buy.

Hope everyone's return to work goes smoothly. I love being at home with my two but do miss going to work sometimes and having adult conversation but I know if I was at work I'd want to be at home, never satisfied Smile

morningpaper · 08/03/2006 09:27

Oral thrush and breast thrush here - argh! In the middle of being sorted out by the Doctors but it is slow going. Baby doesn't like feeding and is uncomfy. At the mo I am waking her every couple of hours at night because she will feed much better then. Very tedious.

Who else is left exclusive bfing?

I have given baby a couple of sucks of mash potato off my fingers but that's about it. Can't be doing with the puree stage. Although she is starting nursery for 2 mornings a week at the end of this month so I might start around then.

ButtonMoon · 08/03/2006 10:48

Still excl bf here too mp. DS was 5 months on mon and I too can't be bothered yet. I return to work one day a week from this week and will leave ebm for him. I am not looking forward to "Jordan boobs" at the end of the day though. May take pump to work and express a bit off to relieve pressure..ouch!

Elf1981 · 08/03/2006 11:05

Speaking of Jordan boobs, was measured yesterday and I'm an F cup!! Up from a B/C cup.

OP posts:
Jockey · 08/03/2006 12:37

I'm still going with the bf. I shall be disappointed when it stops as this is definitely my last baby. Also, I'm too lazy to wean.

Made me laugh the other day as I expressed quite a large amount from one side & handed the bottle to MIL for later, then went to give Sophie a feed. My MIL said, "surely there won't be any left!?!". I explained that the expressed milk was from one boob only. Face was a picture as if to say how could all that come from one boob (I sometimes wonder it myself).

Lol at the size Fs!

mawbroon · 08/03/2006 17:35

Still exclusive bf here too. Thats if you don't count the thrush medicine, calpol, injections, teething powders and bath water which have passed his lips!! We have a family history of allergies/excema etc so hanging off until at least 26 weeks with the weaning.

I took MILs dog out for a poo today and was nearly puking when I bagged it up. I reminded myself that it won't be long before I am dealing with "real" poo in Johnny's nappy and I should enjoy Shockthe bf nappies whilst they last.

mawbroon · 08/03/2006 17:36

eczema, even!

YOKEFLEET · 08/03/2006 18:51

I think someone else here has a Mama's & Papa's pramette, is it Elf?? I have just converted it from the pram into the pushchair and am having problem attaching footmuff, straps don't seem right, any ideas?
mummygow pmsl at brocoli baby comment! Grin
Took parents to airport early this morning so Thomas has slept loads today and not taken much food/milk so I am expecting a fun [gritted teeth emotion] night tonight!!
justbonnie we bought a high chair that said from birth as it reclines too (first years I think it's called) we got that when Thomas outgrew his 1st bouncer (2nd one is a rocker more then a bouncer really) and I have found the high chair to be a godsend as he will sit in it quite happily for hours watching me in the kitchen.
Sorry for long post Blush

Elf1981 · 08/03/2006 18:54

Hi, yes its me with the M&P. TBH I was going to put Evie into the pushchair today rather than the pram bit, but couldn't work out the straps so gave up!
Will get DH to suss it out with me this week and see if I can help :)

OP posts:
YOKEFLEET · 09/03/2006 07:24

Thanks Elf - when we flipped it over to pushchair their was a hook on the back fabric for the straps to attach to but then not on the foot muff if you see what I mean! in the end I just had it laid in and lay Thomas in it flat (its probably something really simple!! Blush

Thought I was going to have a really bad night with Thomas last night as he had slept loads and had less food and less milk (10oz less!} but he slept til 5.30am normally has been taking a feed at 1.30am I just don't understand!! Grin

Thomas sat up unsupported last night Grin for nearly 4 1/2 minutes!!sat their looking up at Girls Aloud on tv!

Elf1981 · 09/03/2006 07:31

Evie can sit unsupported but not for that long, she gets distracted by things like her feet or the remote and lurches forward to grab them!!

OP posts:
YOKEFLEET · 09/03/2006 08:23

this morning he won't do it!! just wants to lay flat on his back!! I also found a very soggy remote for sky last week! dh would go mental if he knew!! Wink

mawbroon · 09/03/2006 08:32

I'm impressed with the sitting up babies! Johnny loves sitting up, but we still need a mountain of cushions or he just topples over!! Does anyone remember "Baby right, Baby left" on TFI Friday a few years ago? I suppose they are just at that stage now!!

JOhnny is sitting in his little chair and I have given him the weaning spoon out of the Bounty pack to play with. He keeps sticking it in his mouth!! It's as if he's saying hurry up with these flipping solids.

His weight gain is still very slow. He is gaining, but only around half an ounce to an ounce per week. He was following the 25th percentile line perfectly, but as his line has now flattened out, he is rapidly approaching the 2nd percentile Shock I am making sure that he doesn't go longer than 3 hours through the day without feeding and I have started feeding him at night if he wakes. I keep telling DH that Johnny and I should have a day in bed where he just feeds all day long, but DH just thinks I'm a lazy moo!! Wink

YOKEFLEET · 09/03/2006 08:47

I vote for a day in bed too Wink

Elf1981 · 09/03/2006 09:21

Took Evie out for a walk yesterday and I now have two stonking blisters on each foot. They're so painful I'm struggling to walk down the stairs (only attempted it with myself, not yet with Evie). I might have a all day bed day today!

My DH has just changed his job slightly, he's doing some office work for a bit so hopefully he'll be getting home around 5:30 at the latest rather than 6:45. Woohoo!

Evie gains about 1 lb every 4 weeks. (We tend to go to get her weighed every four weeks or around the 6th so I can put it in her baby book, and she's usually gained a pound).

Evie also plays with her spoons. I was told to give her a spoon to play with as soon as she was about three months old, which I have been doing. I have some Tommee Tippee ones which are like rubber so really bendy against the gums. She loves playing with it and sticking it in her mouth!

OP posts:
Piggiesmum · 09/03/2006 09:25

Almost exclusively bf here too, but we are really struggling at the moment. I just don't seem to be able to make enough for the poor starving little lad and have to keep topping him up :(
I'm not starting to wean yet as we have allergies in the family too but I might see what he thinks of a weaning spoon

lol mb maybe dh is just jealous cos he hasn't got a good excuse to stay in bed too :o
I think it's a great idea, maybe I should have a day in bed just feeding too to try and sort out my dry barren boobs :(

Do anyone elses lo's seem easily bored at the moment. Ds seems to be going through a stage where he's quickly bored with the stuff he can play with like play gym etc but not quite ready enough to play with slightly more advanced/involved stuff unless I'm helping him out which means he's constantly on my knee, not that I mind but the pile of ironing isn't getting done and soon I will need an oxygen mask to reach the top of it.

RedTartanLass · 09/03/2006 10:50

Mp –oh hope you’re feeling better. Eek thrush on the nipples, must be hell

Buttonmoon – good luck on returning to work, are you looking forward to it?

Yorkefleet –lol at remote

Piggiesmum – dd is a cuddle monster and is constantly on my knee.

Well nanny is brilliant, am sitting here at the dining room table, on mumsnet Blush the 2 wee ones are having a ball with her. I was going to go swimming and shopping and all the things I can’t do with the wee ones. Instead, I’ve just been enjoying watching Los with the nanny. Next week I’ll show her how the washing machine works Wink

I‘ve got mega toothache and I’m mega peed off that I’m spending my last 2 weeks of maternity in pain. Managed to get another appointment tomorrow.

Anyway off to do some work!!!

RedTartanLass · 09/03/2006 10:52
