Sorry yes boob lady is the technical term for the a lactation consultant that I have been seeing Smile

OiMissus · 13/02/2012 23:05

Evening all, and welcome to ovhm,
all well here. hawthers sounds like you should just forget today's appt and await further results.
Ali had an ultrasound scan today on his testes. All happy and well. Very relieved. Grin
Sleep well babies and mums. G'night. X

aethelfleda · 13/02/2012 23:37

Try not to worry mmm, it's worth bringing up at the paeds review, they may decide nowt is needed, and if they do screen its a single set of blood tests to make sure the bilirubin and liver function is now normal. The fact she's self corrected it now is a reassurance in itself and BFing is known to lead to longer jaundice in some babies. The important thing to tell them
Is how old she was when she went from "olive" to "normal" for you. It'll all be OK.

Night feeding here - stretched a little beyond 3 tonight although he seems to wake at 2.30 without fail, then doze for a bit. As he is a big baby, people keep asking me if he is sleeping through the night yet - glad to see his sleeping is perfectly normal. This next stretch is usually his worst - woke at 5.50 last night - please make it to 7 today!

Hawthers that is truly upsetting - stick to what you know is right. Of course lo was upset if feeding pattern disrupted - DS screams the house down if he is disrupted!

Kate hope you get some much needed rest following weekend.

Hoping all those who had bad nights last night, have better ones tonight.

Aims for the week:
Take DS swimming for first time
Put some photos of him on my profile
Buy new car
Meet up with my very pregnant friend who I have been meaning to contact for ages
Exercise!

Immunisations today - dreading it!

LittleMissFlustered · 14/02/2012 04:12

My aim for tomorrow is to cancel any and all plans and return to base after the kids have gone to school in order to do more sleeping. There may be a dose of ibuprofen involved too.

BeeMyBaby · 14/02/2012 04:18

Oi you heard anything about Ali's jabs yet? We got a letter type thing (one of those envelopes with serrated edges) from the NHS telling us to go book them as soon as the DDs turned 2 months.

I've had 2 hours sleep so far tonight and a headache from tiredness is starting. DD2 seems to have wind and has been screaming since 1am everytime i try to put her down and is currently refusing to feed.

On the very happy side I finally went back to the GPs today and asked about a possible prolapse but was checked and told it looked fine and just needs lots of exercising. I am very relieved as I'd hate anything like that to limit the number of children I have - but will definitely wait the recommended 18mo+ before TTCing again.

aethelfleda · 14/02/2012 05:12

ds woke self up by slapping own face, and now feeding again. Guess he still needs swaddling....

Figgygal · 14/02/2012 06:40

Morning all

Well went from 10.30 to 5.30 again last night just need to get him to 6.30 now which he has done a couple of times. I bought 100 buggies size 3 the other day and the bastard things keep leaking going off to buy pampers today as their size 3s were fine, not sure whether to try them again in a few Weeks see if it makes a difference or give them away to ante natal chums who may have more luck with them. Shame as their newborn nappies where the best I found.

Dh is coming to HV today to talk about LO feeding as it's driving us crazy. He's taking 210mls which is about 7.5oz 6 times a day he has started crying hysterically not much more than 2 hours after some feeds I dint want to feed him more his tummy gets very distended and it can't be comfy for him which may be a reason for the crying but DH solution is always just feed him more. We keep arguing so have told him to come with me and we will discuss together. I'm thinking hungry baby milk Is required but want to discuss it first. Hes also started sucking his hand alot for comfort wondering he needs a dummy which I didn't want to hive him but he's crying all the time for some reason or another I have a permanent headache and am getting ratty. Also have to tell her I've stopped BF after over 7 weeks of mixed feeding and expressing less than an oz at a time I've decided enough Is enough not happy about it, am on a massive guilt trip so that's not helping either.

Funnily enough last time I saw HV she said first 6 weeks were hardest well since he turned 6 weeks I have to admit he's been a bit of a chore Sad which I hate saying now he's finally gone to sleep after 30 mins of him crying in my face refusing to nod off. Off to take some pain killers the headache has started extra early today Sad

mopsytop · 14/02/2012 07:46

Morning all! Didn't post on night feed cos I dropped my phone, couldn't find it in the dark and didn't want turn light on as I feed minimopsy more or less in the dark because I want her to learn difference between night and day. Sorry to hear some of you had bad nights :(

figgy, I gave up expressing and most bf at six weeks, then tried continuing a morning/ evening feed until over seven weeks but it didn't work out so now exclusively ff. And the guilt has just gone! Felt so guilty all the time for the first six or seven weeks (and shed a lot of tears) but now I've actually stopped I don't feel guilty at all anymore. My baby is just fine I think and I am SO much happier. Particularly giving up expressing which I hate! So hopefully you can lose the guilt too. I think we did well to persevere when it was so hard and so so time consuming actually and it's not for want of trying it didn't work out.

EasilyBored · 14/02/2012 07:51

Made the mistake of pumping at about 7 last night so Cass was unimpressed and fed for 2 hours after his bath, he was still hungry and ended up having 5oz pumped milk on top of that. Eventualy went down at 11, woke up at 2 for a feed then slept till 5, he was just awake and gurgling away happily so I left him till about 6.45 when he decided he easy hungry and needed a change. So not a bad night really, just need to work on getting him down earlier.

Sorry about headaches all round!

plutocrap · 14/02/2012 07:52

figgy, a friend of mine had the sated baby ho became frnticlly hungry soon after, and rnided me that sometimes the need a good burp in the midle of a feed. Apologies if you've tried this, but I know welll how dificult it can be to think clearly whenn you're tired and shell shockedv from the shheer level of noise from screamng baby so close to your ars

plutocrap · 14/02/2012 07:54

btw, that is "close to your EARS" not arse!

Grin
bennybenbear · 14/02/2012 08:00

figgy you've done well to keep bf and expressing for that long when it was so hard. You lasted longer than me! I stopped after 5 weeks (and was only expressing once a day for that last week). Now at 8 weeks, the guilt is pretty much gone and we have our moments but are generally all much happier. Good luck with HV today.

We have jabs today though all have stinking colds. Was dreading it anyway but more so now as LO is suffering with snuffles enough already Sad

Coolhand · 14/02/2012 08:22

Figgy could it be teeth beginning to annoy him as well? Luke has been more agitated with his fist permanently in the mouth recently as well - I used some teething gel yesterday and it soothed him.

Having said that Luke looked for feeding after 2 hrs for a long time there but we seemed to be moving back towards 3 hrs - he seems to be very hungry but his weight gain has maintained at the percentile he was born at so don't feel I'm over feeding. Would be interested to hear what your HV says.

msbuggywinkle · 14/02/2012 08:24

Moan moan moan moan moan whine moan.

Which is all I have to say for myself this morning!

OiMissus · 14/02/2012 08:30

Morning mums! Sorry you're having a rough time figgy, I hope the HV can come up with some answers to help settle your LO.
bee I called the drs yesterday about my 8 week appt and Ali's jabs. She told me that my appt was last Friday (thanks for letting me know!), and they weren't making appts this week ( ????!). So I'm 9.5wks in - and it seems that every other practice in the UK does the appt at 6 weeks. I'm not bothered, I expect it to be hugely disappointing. They will ask about contraception and do nothing else, I imagine. - when I'm finally able to make an appt!
I was able to make an appt for Ali's jabs on Thursday at 17:40. I thought I'd take the last appt then I wouldn't have a full day of him being upset.
He was v good yesterday. He had an ultrasound scan to check his testes. I found a little lump a few weeks ago, it went, but I kept the appt. It was probably just the stitches on the inside, but all was well. He just lay there, smiling, charming the nurses. Grin
Does 3 days consistency constitute a routine? He's gone down each night between 9 and 11, but has woken for feeds at 2am and 4am. At 6am he grizzles til he's allowed in bed with me, he has a mini feed, but nothing proper til 9ish.
Annoyingly the dogs also woke during the night and barked to go out twice. Angry
Plan for the day:
Go shopping for 3-6 month onesies and developmental toys ( have Xmas vouchers for M&S and Boots which will contribute).
Work conference call at 12:30 (annoyingly bang in the middle of the day...)
Cook a fabulous moussaka and think of something else to make today a bit special for Valentines.
Go to the house -feed fish, and pick up condoms perhaps if feeling braveenough to huge post! Sorry!!

OiMissus · 14/02/2012 08:34

Should have read "brave enough to dtd."
New paragraph, "Huge post. Sorry!"

aethelfleda · 14/02/2012 09:33

Goal for today: get pizza from aldi and head to cousins' for play and pizza-fest, locate and try outnew Hotmilk bra (hope it fits! Ta for link Msb!), hope DH comes back with promised V-Day sushi for dinner ( he's got to work late but promised sushi as a sweetener!)
Find will to live from down back of sofa. Pray DS sleeps better tonight.

Oh, and drink a dozen big mugs of tea. My baby is not so much caffeine insensitive as well and truly acclimatised

OiMissus · 14/02/2012 10:03

Ooh! There is a large red envelope on the fireplace addressed to Chicken Pie (I believe that's me) and behind it is an even larger box of Hotel Chocolat chocs. Grin
