Every 5 mins reassures him I'm still there and haven't abandoned him, but not going to pick him up.

FuzzzyDuck · 25/01/2012 20:31

That sounds great sch!! Fingers crossed C works with you on it Grin. These baby's like to do their own things eh Hmm

Yes sink is now sparkling!! Ashamed to admit how dirty it was Shock. Just put S to bed so gonna hang up load of washing and iron the stuff that's dry, have quick tidy of living room/kitchen, wash bottles then go to bed! Ended up bringing S into my bed at 6am this morning after she was tossing and turning from 4am! Was nice laying all snuggled up to her and she slept soundly for another few hours Smile. Fingers crossed for the same tonight!!

Scheherezade · 25/01/2012 20:50

Bad news from cupoftea re bea, thread in chat :(

emmazed · 25/01/2012 20:50

sch that is great news. it is similar to what i do - i leave him for about 3 or 4 minutes at at time. it is not so long for them, but it is enough for them to realise that they are doing it themselves. also, i found (i haven;t needed to do it for a while because he is generally used to falling asleep) that after a couple of minutes he would suddenly be calm then fall asleep. good luck with it, i am so pleased you got some help with sleeping.

i had no idea what fly lady as before you all started mentioning her. must get on her website. i am not so good at tidying/cleaning so don't know how i would manage shining my sink!

featherbag · 25/01/2012 21:01

Sch that sounds like good progress - may have to try that with Sam tonight as he's being less than cooperative with bedtime! He's usually been flat out for a couple of hours by now, but DH and I went swimming and then for a meal, as we always do on a Wednesday evening - my parents stayed with him, and he was still up when we came home half an hour after his usual bedtime cos my mother's a soft touch! Now he's still objecting to being in his cot every 20 minutes or so.

Signing off here for the night (good intentions, anyway), but wish me luck, going to have Sam weighed in the morning and the HV was so 'concerned' about his weight gain last time she said she'd send us to the GP if he'd put too much weight on this week. I don't think for one second there's any reason to be worried about his weight, he's certainly not overfed even though he's a very hungry baby, but I can do without having to jump through the HV's hoops :(

MamaMaiasaura · 25/01/2012 21:24

Thinking of Bea and cupoftea. Really puts life in perspective.

BB3 · 25/01/2012 21:27

Scheh my two don't roll!

I've just has a massive blub trading the thread about little bea, that poor family, I can't even imagine what they're going through. Hoping with every ounce of me that she pulls through.

Ladies give your babies extra big hugs and kisses as no matter how much they cry and drive us to the brink, they are here and healthy!

Right off to pull myself together Sad

BB3 · 25/01/2012 21:28

Should have said massive blub little tear reading Beas thread x

LittlePebble · 25/01/2012 21:30

Oh poor cupoftea thinking of her and Bea.

Scheh glad you got some positive help from lady today, fingers crossed C settles for you ( if it works let me know!)

Health visitor today was rubbish about my boob. Made me sit for a long time while she's stared at my nipple then confessed she'd never seen anything like it before! She's a breastfeeding specialist at the breastfeeding clinic FGS! She couldn't advise me on anything I ended up telling her the info I'd got from kellymom website. So going to see what happens and maybe go to the doctor. Sad

Oh god, have a tear in my eye thinking of cupoftea and her little bea Sad. Remember reading on the ante natal thread when she was told that day she was being induced. Feels like so long ago now and little bea is a fighter to have gotten this far. Keep going little princess Sad

FuzzzyDuck · 25/01/2012 22:16

Ah cup posted an update. Things seem much more stable Smile. God, I can't even begin to imagine what that family go through!!

BB3 · 25/01/2012 22:23

Fuzzy I know! From the induction, the horrendous diagnosis then Beatrice proofing everyone wrong, it seems like a lifetime ago it all started. We've all cone a very long way!

FuzzzyDuck · 25/01/2012 22:26

I know bb3 Sad. I have only just skimmed her threads but by god, she has dealt with a lot!

golemmings · 25/01/2012 22:30

Poor Bea. I came across the teaset when I was hanging out on the sn boards after Alex was born. It doesn't look as though he will have any residual problems though, fortunately. I really feel for Bea's family though, but isn't she a fighter?

In other news, the sink was bleached to within an inch of its life and looks marginally better. Belfast sinks are just not designed to shine bit I'm quite proud of my taps.

Also we had rolling today. Twice. From back to front. On a flat surface. He'd rolled once before - the.day he turned 3 months he rolled on his bed bit its quite steeply propped so I thought gravity might have played a part. He was also desperate to crawl at bumps and babes today. I have a horrible feeling that he might be an early crawler. Dd crawled at 7 months but didn't walk untold 16m. Wonder what Alex will do.

Scheherezade · 25/01/2012 22:36

She was on the October antenatal thread, before bea was born and they knew of her problems. It really hit me how lucky we are to have healthy babies.

Jnice · 25/01/2012 22:37

littlepebble do you have a white lump on your nipple? Like milk but it doesn't come off? If so, I had that. It is a milk blister, basically a blocked duct with dried up milk plugging it. It felt like I was being scraped with glass when L fed.

If this is what you have you can get it out with a pin or wait for it to work its way out. Put a hot compress on, then use a sterile needle to pierce the blister and gentle squeeze out. Or just pierce and nurse, baby might work it out for you. I tried to pierce mine and got a little hole but couldn't clear it. Feeding got rid of it eventually.

If I have the wrong end of the stick I can only blame sleep deprivation. Sorry Blush

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 25/01/2012 23:20

Can't find cupoftea's thread what's going in with bea?

Well supper was good but am pissed off with relatives BIL and SIL and FIL all turned up late (then expressed disappointment when I had to put M to bed after just a few minutes as he was screaming with overtiredness) they then spent half the 3course meal on the phone/iPad just plain fucking rude!

On the bright side I was chuffed with my whisky sauce I managed to light the whisky without setting the kitchen on fire Grin

CheshireDing · 25/01/2012 23:38

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/special_needs/1377627-Cup-and-the-Teaset-face-2012-and-this-year-Beatrice-means-business

Bea stopped breathing at the GP's, was rushed to hospital and is being kept in.

Poor mite, she is such a cutie :)

CheshireDing · 25/01/2012 23:39

Congrats on the dinnerEd, bloody rude though I agree. I hate people being on phones/IPad etc when you are sat at the table:(

Penelope1980 · 26/01/2012 02:04

Noooooooooooooo! I just wrote a long message and the computer lost it! Bugger!

Sorry about the bullets, but the gist of it was:

  • what does G Ford actually advocate? I've googled it but haven't found any info of substance
  • We don't really have a firm routine except for at night, although try to go out in the morning or afternoon, rather than the middle of the day. I find that 9am - 12 or 2pm - 6 will work, but say 11am-2pm won't in terms of his sleeps and me getting stuff done at home
  • A rolled twice about a month ago but hasn't since! Who knows what's going on there
EdwardorEricCantDecide · 26/01/2012 04:02

OMG whoever said it was definitely right! I've obviously chosen the wrong settings and have has 12 emails from Flylady on day 1 :-O

LittlePebble · 26/01/2012 04:02

Jnice that's exactly it and yes to shards of glass! It happened a week ago Sunday and I managed to unblock by piercing with needle but white lump is still there, it's like dead skin from blister or maybe milk under skin . Duct isn't blocked now though and he can feed its just bloody painful. Tried hot baths and massage to try and get it out but no luck so far and have to give up as it hurts. Hoping it will work it's way off.
penguin the only breastfeeding group we have is the one I went to yesterday. The hv there is notoriously useless though!
pene gf follows a very strict schedule ( can't remember who wrote example earlier on thread but v funny) it tells you to the minute what to do all day but doesn't give you much of a life. Not for me but works for some.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 26/01/2012 04:04

Sorry I know it's disgusting but have you tried squeezing lik a spot?

LittlePebble · 26/01/2012 04:05

edward lol change it quick! Fly lady is great but the sheer volume of emails is frightening, if you read them all you'd never have time to do any of the baby steps anyway lol!
Sorry your in laws were rude tonight did they react when you commented? Whiskey sauce looked ace saw photo on fb x
