Ps you may find LO has his own ideas though as some beebs just don't like to be scheduled. This is mot a failure on your part if it happens !!!!

Hope Octoboy is doing OK lmf, and that your final clean hoody remains non-vomity!

Mmmmcheese · 31/01/2012 02:37

AWCH teething nappies can be truly disgusting!

DD doesn't have a set bedtime yet but last feed is usually around 9/9.30 then we all go to bed at 10.30/11. Although DH was up with her until 1am this mornng as she was awake for once! Meant I got 3 hrs sleep so very thankful for that!

Someone was asking a couple of days ago about where LO will sleep during the day when grown out of moses basket. With DS I put up a travel cot downstairs and that's where he slept during the day until around 6 months when he then slept in the n his own room. Most of my friends just put their LO down in their own room upstairs for daytime naps but I always preferred to be able to see him! I think it also helps them sleep through noise.

DD seems settled (famous last words) so going to try and get some more sleep.

aethelfleda · 31/01/2012 03:12

Aarg, still feeding:ds fed both sides but looking for more mill 5 mins after I put him down. His might freds are getting longer, usually 69-90 mins rach time, Also has developed habit of fslling off nipple hslfway thro unless I support him on. This all fits with what I've read about his tongue tie: really hope it improves when they (hopefully) snip it on weds at the tonguetie clinic. If nothing else I want shorter night feeds and DS not to have to work so darned hard to get his milk!

mopsytop · 31/01/2012 04:11

Temp of 38.7. Is that a fever? Been having a dreadful night. Severe shakes which I couldn't stop or control-my whole body, nearly Luke spasms for what felt like hours. Freezing during the shakes, then roasting when they stopped. Feel like I've run a marathon without stretching, All my muscles ache. Headache. Sore back. Sore chest. I guess it is a fever. No idea what's causing it. Not vomity or anything. Feel pretty faint though. Had to sit down on a step earlier when out for a walk as was so faint. Annoyingly saw doctor yesterday morning but felt ok then. Boobs bit sore, especially right boob, but not very. So don't think is mastitis. But minimopsy seems okay so far thank god. I never get fevers. Feel properly dreadful.

mopsytop · 31/01/2012 04:11

Like not Luke!

mopsytop · 31/01/2012 04:13

How do you get rid of a fever? Do you just have to sit it out?

mopsytop · 31/01/2012 04:14

(sorry for mememe post. Hope you are all slumbering peacefully!)

Figgygal · 31/01/2012 04:56

mopsy Are you sure Its not mastitis? Strangely my mum (58yo) got it last year but thought it a virus/flu with very similar symptoms to you.

mopsytop · 31/01/2012 05:04

Not sure, no but thought for that your boob had to be properly painful and red and hot. Mine is just a bit painful. But I did have similar shakes when my milk came in...

Mmmmcheese · 31/01/2012 05:35

mopsy I would ytake paracetamol, try and drink lots of cold fluids. Raised temp is actually a good thing as the body does it to help kill of bacteria etc. Then get yourself to the dr first thing!

aethel hope the TT snip helps (and they actually do it!)

DD slept really well 2.30 until now but typically DS was up crying so neither of us getting much sleep in the end! None of the local pharmacies had DS's neantibiotica in stock so now I have to go on a hunt first thing!

Does anyone else still get contraction pain during feeding? Not sure if it is just post CS pain still.

AnAirOfHope · 31/01/2012 07:41

Wow Hope sleeped from 10.30pm till 5.30am 7 hours Shock
Is that normal?

She cryed for her feed at 5.30am feed for 30mins then went back to sleep for 30mins and wanted feeding again now she has conked out again!

In the 30min break i have had a shower, washed and dried hair, got dressed, made breafast for me and Air (who got up at 6am), made and drunk one coffee and stuck some washing in washing machin.

Now Air on potty again so potty duty too!

yeasterdays final score: floor 2 potty 9

today so far floor 0 potty 1

We have the attachment thing at 9am and then a meeting at 1pm so busy day

OiMissus · 31/01/2012 07:53

.air it's the kind of normal we all pray for!
Great potty training score too!
mmm never had any bf/contraction pain or real cs pain, so can't help.
mopsy hope you're feeling better.
We had lots of little feeds and big nappies through the night and this morning Sad. And now our usual snugglefest has been cancelled by the onset of the evol baby hiccups. And more nappy splashes. Might as well get up. Humph!

AnAirOfHope · 31/01/2012 07:53

Have a good day everyone Smile

LMF hope Edward is better today

msbuggywinkle · 31/01/2012 08:02

mopsy it really does sound like mastitis. In addition to antibiotics from the GP, the most important thing is to rest as much as you can. Mastits doesn't always present with a whole boob being hot, red and sore.

aethel hope they do snip the TT today, women I have supported who have had it done have said it changed feeding instantly.

figgy hope he is amenable to being adjusted for you! Miri usually goes to sleep between 8 and 10.

Miri has come down with the cold! Thankfully it didnt affect her sleeping last night, but I have had enough of snotty small girls now and would like a day off please! Think I will plan a duvet day for Sunday.

YBR · 31/01/2012 08:48

I'm feeling better today, but DD had a very snuffly night. Somewhere around 5 I moved her downstairs into the pram basket so DH could sleep.

Found a lump in her genitals yesterday so I've got an appointment with the GP - Dr. Google suggests it could be swollen glands or a hernia (I reckon the former is more likely).

mmm I do occasionally get pains which might be contraction pain following bf, which seems odd at the time. Not asked if that's "normal" though.

mopsy if you're likely to feel faint, get the doc to come to you.

aethelfleda · 31/01/2012 09:27

Mopsy, I've cOme late to the party! - but yes, anything 38 or over is a fever and worth treating with paracetamol/ibuprofen. Flu like symptoms (fever/aches/tired) plus any Aching/soreness/redness in boobs of a breastfeeding lady is highly suggestive of mastitis. msb is spot on: rest, fluids, keep feeding and offer the sorer boob first each time, and seeGP today for check and antibiotics. Good luck and get well soon!

lmf hope things are OK.

aethelfleda · 31/01/2012 09:28

And thanks guys for the support re tongue tie: i am trying hard not to build it up too much in case I expect too much from the clinic, it's on wednesday afternoon so only one more night to go... dS is 4 weeks old
Today so I'm hoping he'll adapt OK once he's had the snip!

Figgygal · 31/01/2012 09:30

Managed to do a night feed without waking DH up think it was my first actually got LO back to bed in under an hour but then was awake for another hour after that gah!!! Luckily though we both then slept til 9 I officially have no understanding of time anymore. God help us tomorrow when have to be at an airport for 9am his feeds are going to be all over the place and I can just see him screaming the place down in his sling I must be crazy!!!

Mopsy I know you said yesterday wa the day you were stopping offering the breast did you?

NorthernChinchilla · 31/01/2012 09:30

I do the same kitty- have a list of things that I try to do one or two of a day- today is a trip to the Post Office!

We had a slight wobble over the version of DS's first name, but I think that a wobble is normal as this is the one, definite, set in stone thing that you do for your LO (although less so these days)- it feels like 'marking them' and that you have to get it perfect, IYSWIM?

Figgy, our LO comes to bed with us at 10-11pm; however, given his night-time fussing/yelling it's a little academic at the moment. Last night was good though- fussing started at 10, went up at 10.20, yelled magnificently for about 20 minutes and then managed to get him in bed and latched on at 10.50.

I then spend the next hour wide awake making sure the white noise box doesn't turn off and that the nipple stays in his mouth!

I would love him to go up at 7/8 though, and I think it's doable- we get up at 8, he feeds then instantly goes back to sleep, so he's obviously got a 12 hour sleep cycle going on, it just needs pulling back.

It was me mmmm that was asking...that's a good point. I'm wanting to get a play pen for him anyway, so if we get that it can double as his downstairs cot too- does this sound OK? We also think that part of the reason he doesn't like the moses is because he flaps and wriggles and flings his arms around, which is fine in our double bed but he can't do there.

Really hope the tongue tie snip works today aethel- those night time feeds sound rather tough.

Mopsy, it definitely sounds like mastitis, and cutting down or stopping bf is a classic time for it to kick in, and because you're not feeding you can't feed though it (which is how I kicked mine). Definitely get yourself to a doctor, and big sympathy from me, take care.

Oi, boo to the hiccoughs! And so sorry Miri has now succumbed MsB.

Let's hope your day continues as well air.

Hope to hear from you soon lmf.

Will now race around as LO sleeps in the Moses- he'll go in in the morning (with some encouragement) but not in the afternoon when I want to nap. Tried five times over 3/4 an hour, gave up and got into bed with him.
We did go and see some work colleagues last night- group of councillors- with LO last night. He got passed around for half an hour 6.30-7pm, and was a) awake and b) quiet and charming. I was truly flabbergasted proud!

mopsytop · 31/01/2012 09:40

Fever has abated now. Hv is coming at half ten, maybe will askher advice. Have antibiotics bec when I ws all shivery before it was a Friday and my GP gave me a script for them in case it got bad over the weekend but it didn't get worse so didn't take them. So I'll see how things go today and start them if it continues. Can't understand how I was so bed yesterday evening and last night but normal temp now. My boob is still sore though. Going to spend day inbed anyway resting and drinking water. And of course feeding my little monster!

mopsytop · 31/01/2012 09:41

aethel hope Tongue tie clinic goes ok tomo!

mopsytop · 31/01/2012 09:50

[or should I go to see GP anyway even though temp normal again?]

mopsytop · 31/01/2012 10:00

Just asked for a callback from GP instead. Don't fancy traipsing down to surgery, wd rather curl up in bed.

KateM77 · 31/01/2012 10:39

mopsy hope you're feeling much better soon. Sounds like it wouldn't hurt to see the GP even if the fever has abated

aethel fingers crossed the tongue tie gets sorted tomorrow

YBR I hope your LO is OK

LMF I hope DS is on the mend

Had a bad night here last night with DD up in the night as well as DS. Very unlike her to wake, and typically it happened when I was mid-feed with DS. DH temporarily lost his D when he initially slept through her crying and then seemed to think I should sort both kids out simultaneously. It's DD's first full day at the new nursery today so top of my 'to do' list is a daytime nap :)

LittleMissFlustered · 31/01/2012 10:44

Quick check in:) We're still in hospital, with the octopus sporting a very stylish headbox to deliver oxygen. He took his ng line out twice so they've decided to leave it out for the rest of today as long as he feeds well. I've been told were unlikely to be out any time before Thursday as they have to wean him off the oxygen then he has to do an observed 24 hours without it. I think it will be more like Friday at this rate:)

Thanks for all the well wishes folks, means a lot:)

Hope that the week is going well, and that you're all managing to prod buttock and wield haddock where necessary. Hope you're feeling better soon Mopsy
