PS we were in hospital for 48 hrs. Oxygen really helped her recover quickly.

AnAirOfHope · 29/01/2012 18:22

Sorry to hear your LO is ill LMF, hope he is better soon.

Floor 0 Potty 7 Grin

Hope really unhappy tonight - i think she has wind and/or has a tooth coming thru. Crying, hands in mouth, when put on boob pulling off and biteing me and lots of bottom burps. The eczema has spread all over her body now so when the cream runs out i'm taking her back to the doctor as i think it really bad. I give her tummy time today and she rolled over on her back both times, so i guess she was not intrested in tummy time today Confused

Also Aaron has more imaginary friends - a dog called Bob and now a few woolly mammoths and a ghost of a goat that lives out side our house on the street and tonight he could not get to sleep cos the woolly mammoths were eating too loud Hmm

AWomanCalledHorse · 29/01/2012 18:36

Get well soon LMF little one!!

Not been on here for a while, laptop died last week, will catch up later!

Our LO is having a whale of a time teething atm!!
He's down to 6(!) feeds of 150ml a day which is a good thing, but it's heartbreaking to hear his little in pain cries :(

Air Grin at Aaron's woolly mammoths!

YBR · 29/01/2012 18:54
OiMissus · 29/01/2012 19:05

Sorry to hear that baby lmf is in hospital. Hope he's all recovered soon, and that mummy gets some much needed sleep and nutrition. ((hugs)).
awch teeth!!?? Teeth already!??!? Noooo! My nipples do not want to consider that possibility so soon.

LittleMissFlustered · 29/01/2012 19:09

Air My daughter had a posse of imaginary friends called 'the girls' who had a tribe of imaginary puppies. Even if there were only two of us visible on a day out, the number including the imaginaries often hit the teens:o

No food offered here mmm I managed to snag something from the canteen, but there was little choice as it was so close to closing. Sausages and chips with a yoghurt for pud. My gut is complaining already :s

luckysevens · 29/01/2012 19:14

lmf so sorry that octoboy is unwell, hope he makes a speedy recovery.

air sounds like he's doing great.

Bedtime isn't going too great, Eva won't take her bottle as she had a feed at 4 and DS looks like he's about to fall asleep in the chair.

luckysevens · 29/01/2012 19:15

Correction DS has fallen asleep.

KateM77 · 29/01/2012 19:23

LMF So sorry octoboy is in hospital. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery. I agree with what mmm said - I was always fed when staying on the ward with DD and BFing. Ask a nurse, they should definitely feed you.

Air Great news on the potty training score. We had an impromptu start to potty training today when DD asked to wear big girl pants. After 2 accidents we put her in a nappy for her nap and she didn't ask for the pants again. Will revert to original plan of starting once she's settled at nursery!

DS is less smelly and grumpy today. He had a bath this morning and didn't cry about it for the first time. He's also taken to smiling at the mobile above his changing station, and the shadows it makes on the wall. Still no smiles in response to me or DH, but we're getting closer.

Big boy also spent his first night in his big boy cot last night too Grin

AnAirOfHope · 29/01/2012 19:24

LMF - Its the NHS policy to feed breastfeeding mothers so if you tell the ward sister she will make sure you get breakfast and lunch.

Mmm I asked Aaron could you have a woolly mamoth he said "No, they live here. They like the trees." We have no trees here, but we do live in South Yorkshire so i guess it could have been a forrest when mammoths were here Confused

Bob has been around for a year now ever since we went to the libaray down the road, about 2 mins away we can see it from our bedroom window. Aaron has told us that Bob is a dog that got hit by a car and hurt his leg and then he lived in the libaray but he was lonly so Aaron told him he could come live with us. Yeasterday DH had to hold the stairgate open for a few more minutes to allow all the imaginary friends thru, but Bob had trouble getting upstairs so Air had to push him a bit Hmm

I love his story telling, he is really creative Smile

hawthers · 29/01/2012 19:37

pnd I had to order food at the beginning of the day when I was in with ds. Speak to your nurse or the sister and place your order for the days meals. Skip the sausage and mash though it was grim. Cheese and tomato pasta was edible so would recommend the veggie option.

aethelfleda · 29/01/2012 19:45

I love fhe wooly mammoths!! We have no imaginary friends currently at our house, but DD2 is obsessed with dogs/puppies and has several cuddly ones who get up to all sorts.

Prod the nurses esp overnight lmf, any paeds ward worth its salt should have hot and cold running tea and toast (unless the stoopid Helf And Safety have banned toasters, which sometimes happens). Also check out the vending machine possibilities, and ask the night shift nurses who may be less insanely busy and hence kinder than the day staff) good luck in the search for sustenance!

LittleMissFlustered · 29/01/2012 19:51

They've been doing hot drinks bless them, and we were admitted at lunchtime so may have missed the food boat. To be fair though, as long as they're fixing my boy I really don't care :)

LittleMissFlustered · 29/01/2012 19:52

I kin of want a wooly mammoth too now. I suggest we work a wooly mammoth into the next thread title:o

DarcieandSkysmum · 29/01/2012 20:10

Air I love the fact Aaron has woolly mammoths at home Smile how lovely he's looking after Bob Grin

Sky is laying in her Moses basket watching Dancing on Ice Smile

mopsytop · 29/01/2012 20:38

Loving air's woolly mammoths!

Right, off to sleep for cpl of hours before night shift commences... See some of you on here later!

Also, need to start thinking about feeding/sleeping routines. Don't want to get all stressed or rigid about things but wd like some guidelines about how to trycand get into some sort of rOutone. I know I like to eat/sleep at roughly the same times every day and I presume my baby will too! So any tips on what to read? A friend gave me a copy of gina ford but kind of hesitant to read it after all the bad press but guess I should at least read it and make my own mind up! Any other advice gratefully received ... !

mopsytop · 29/01/2012 20:39

(I meant routine! Stupid phone)

OiMissus · 29/01/2012 20:40

We want woolly mammoths! It must be lovely listening to these tall stories. Grin and how kind he is to take in these woolly waifs and injured strays!
We had progress today too - he watched the lights on the roof of his floormat thing for ages, he was loving it. Grin
The kids food at the children's hospital (back on day 2) was grim! I chose a veggie broccoli bake thing that was tasteless mush, DH chose pizza and chips and that was also tasteless. We were admitted at the end of dinner so they let DH have some too. Can't complain though, they let us both stay overnight in a separate room with Alistair.
Tough times when the LOs have problems. Love to all.

luckysevens · 29/01/2012 21:26

mopsy we started our bedtime routine a couple of weeks ago as Eva was starting to be disturbed by the TV in the living room. I start around 6.30 with a bath or top and tail, then put on pjs and give her a feed. We then have a cuddle and put her in her crib for a bedtime story then lights out. It seems to be working well, and I never normally hear a peep from her until her next feed anytime after 10. Tbh it's the only time of day I can guarantee she'll be settled. I just let her sleep and feed when she wants during the day, I found that DS got himself into his own feeding and sleeping routine during the day without any effort from me.

Mmmmcheese · 29/01/2012 21:57

mopsy I also found that DS found his own routine by himself and it was a lot less stressful building the routine around what he naturally wanted to do than to decide a routine first and try and make him stick to it. For example, he always had a nap 4-5pm and then bed at 7. The late nap never stopped him sleeping but a lot of my mum friends who were following routines from books were shocked I woud let him nap so late. But it was what he wanted and would still sleep 7 to 7. All babies are different, which is why I personally wouldn't want to try and follow a pre-decided routine eg Gina Ford.

You could always start by noting own when he usually feeds, sleeps etc and if there is a pattern you can try and encourage him to follow that pattern. But also be aware that just wheyou think you have it sorted they will change it!

OiMissus · 29/01/2012 22:12

Firstly, thanks for the reminder! Was wondering why Ali was fighting sleep... Errr bright lights and loud tv. Made changes now!
I've been noting the late evening and night feeds for the last few weeks with the view to find a routine somewhere in there. I should really note the daytime feeds, as I'd like to eradicate night feeds altogether.

Figgygal · 29/01/2012 22:20

Well LO has had another day of mammoth feeds some as close together as am hour and a half. He had 7 170 ml feeds today!!!!! he had a feed at 7 and by 8.15 was screaming the place down tried everything for half an hour before gave in and gave him more food then put him to bed. It's not colic, it wasn't wind I think some of it may have Been tiredness but it's been hard work today!!

aethelfleda · 29/01/2012 22:55

I'm meant to be asleep but got distracted with school run prep (whoops).

dS seems to conk out about 10pm so input him down then. If I'm lucky that's the big wind down for him and i'll get 4 hours.

The routine for my DDs (mostly set by them as I can't be a*sed with anything as rigid as Gina F): this was about 6-12 months when they were on solids but we did the same before then with milk feeds whenever food slots occurred. wake 6.30-7 am, milk, then brek at 8-9 ish, nap after brek sometime, snack or milk at 10-11, play, lunch at 12ish, nap after lunch, play, snack or milk in afternoon (3-4ish), dinner at 5-5.30ish, milk feed at 6.30-7pm then to bed 7-7.30. Followed
By 12'hours sleep and tepeat next day!

hawthers · 29/01/2012 23:50

Ds has had final feed and is now in the moses basket, fairly calm. Just need to get the courage to turn the light off.

Shit spoke too soon he's just kicked off.long night ahead

Mmmmcheese · 30/01/2012 01:32

DD very squeaky and grunty tonight but I can't get any wind out, its so frustrating. Not got any sleep yet :(
