No sleep here either, and I've been vomited on, which is lovely when you've not got a change of clothes. Luckily I'd delayered earlier so could put my jumper on. Here's hoping no more as I've only my hoodie (my coat for all seasons) left >_

Mmmmcheese · 30/01/2012 01:56

She's still writhing around and still no wind out...starting to get really annoyed now! Have watched one born every minute and two episodes of Real housewives of OC since going to bed. Going to see if I can sleep through the noises now and hope she doesn't puke...

aethelfleda · 30/01/2012 02:05

( and I have no idea why either)

mopsytop · 30/01/2012 02:25

Hello! Husband brought minimopsy up to our room about half ten. She kept grizzling, so I put soother in which calmed her but she kept spitting it out and grizzling again. So I just kept sticking it back in again. This happened on repeat for at least half an hour but eventually she fell asleep and slept until ten past two. Now glugging again. Hoping she goes down easily after this feed!

hawthers · 30/01/2012 03:15

Seems ds didn't get the memo about co-sleeping meaning more sleep for me. He grizzled for the last few hours but at least he is aving a 'pepper's feed now I've been arsed to get out of bed.

Hungry again and still have nothing to eat up here...

hawthers · 30/01/2012 03:19

Oh buggery bollocks *proper feed not pepper feed.

And just read back through thread I meant lmf not pnd what a bloody auto correct error my phone made Angry

OiMissus · 30/01/2012 03:33

Morning... Quick ? Before I catch up... LO is making snotty/blocked nose breathing sounds (very loud in sleep) but I can't see any snot. Have bought saline drops. Whilst he sleeps, should I drop some in, or will he then wake up and kick off for the rest of the night?

Figgygal · 30/01/2012 04:42

Have been up feeding since 3.15 he's been on me, had 170mls, been on me again and is still screaming for food. I've tried comforting him for over half an hour and he's still not tired and is crying he's now woken DH up waiting for another bottle to heat up Sad.

Just thinking he's been like this for 3 days now just as we put him onto powder rather than the ready made cartons that can't be something to do with it can it? We making it up to normal instructions. Going to have to call HV about hungry baby milk don't want to give him it as already worried about constipation but he finishes every bottle he gets and already on 2 more a day than the guidelines for his weight.

Figgygal · 30/01/2012 05:01

Oh good he's just thrown up all over my dressing gown and then fallen asleep, well at least he's asleep!!

I could never have exclusively BFd this child he's a ravenous beast!!!

Mmmmcheese · 30/01/2012 06:06

Well I may as well give up on sleeping tonighgt :( feel horrendous. Don't know how I'm going to cope with a sick DS too today :(

AWomanCalledHorse · 30/01/2012 07:04

:( Sorry everyone had such bad nights!
DS is alseep next to me, on bed, still can't get my head around co-sleeping (fussy sleeper, so terrified of squashing/rolling onto him).

Figgy, sounds like how our DS was before we switched onto hungry baby. He's now on 6-7 feeds a day instead of 12 (HV fell off chair when we told her he was on 12).
We're also doing the old advice of making up feed in batches (3/4 bottles at 0600 & 1800hrs) as it's much easier than this new advice of making everything fresh! HV/MW/GP doesn't see the harm in it.

FYI; Astons & Parsons teething powder is currently like gold dust (£20 a packet on ebay) so if you see some, buy it! I've got 4 different people on the look out for some (using detinox teething gel atm, he seems to like that).

aethelfleda · 30/01/2012 07:21

Morning...! didn't post at the 5.30am feed as semicomatose and couldnt focus on the phone screen... Sorry for those who's LOs are poorly.

Dh cheerfully informed menthat he'd had a totally undisturbed night and it felt marvellous. I would like an award of some kind for not braining him with a nearby pillow...

mopsytop · 30/01/2012 07:55

AWCH I do the same with bottles, make up a few at night and sometimes in morning too. Not so bothered in morning as not such a big deal to make up during the day ad at night, but way too much hassle in middle of night but I also thunk way more margin for error. My HV said make each up fresh but when
I asked for a proper scientific reason she couldn't give one really.I just make sure counter, hands, bottles etc all really clean. I sterilise my hands as well as bottles!

Minimopsy fell asleep at half three after another half hour of soother in/out shenanigans, then slept until seven. Wish I oils have her in thus cycle every night as I got 3.5 hours sleep twice. Sorry everyone with bad nights. It is hard work!

Figgygal · 30/01/2012 08:37

I'm making up the bottles too and keeping them in the fridge, only doing 3 at a time but makes a big difference having them ready when he is so unpredictable with when he's hysterically hungry.

Well it's snowing here today so think we are going to stay in finish criminal minds season 1 box set, need to get series 2 now love Mandy patinkin.

mopsytop · 30/01/2012 08:53

I've been watching the IT crowd and Morse, figgy. trying out Netflix for a couple of months so watching on there. It's quite good but not sure I will keep it on once we get into more of a routine. But right now is very useful when I am so tied to sofa.

Today is the dreaded giving up bf/expressing day. Still feel guilty though :( but trying to be rational.

AnAirOfHope · 30/01/2012 08:55

Oh i love Mandy Patinkin. Have you seen a programme called "Dead like me"? He is fab in it Grin

Morning everyone xx

LittleMissFlustered · 30/01/2012 08:58

LittleMissFlustered · 30/01/2012 09:01

Ok, my phone ate my real post, and gave you last night's effort instead >_< Mondays!

I'll update properly later, when my phone has had time to recover from whatever has infested it:)

NorthernChinchilla · 30/01/2012 09:18

Hey AWCH, sorry to hear of the untimely death of the laptop, hope it sorts out soon.

Good news on the potty stuff air, you're winning.

I'm amazed delighted that there's another Poirot-watcher out there YBR, it's one of my guilty pleasures, and it's one of the big pluses of maternity leave. Your DH sounds marvellous- can we swap?! Glad all's healing well, but you're right, the last thing you need is for him to keel over through kindness.

Snap figgy- our LO started with his fussing last night, pulling off the boob and yelling, and then (aaargh) got himself worked up into total colic style screaming. Thankfully, although the whole period is about two hours, the real screaming was only for about 10 minutes, at which point I jiggled him twice and he conked out.
It's bloody hard itsn't it?

And then it taking an hour to get him settled to sleep lying next to him, and having a couple of hours awake last night meant our worst night ever, after a truly lovely, chilled day with him sleeping, and just lying contentedly on his mat whilst we ate.

Of course, he's now just fallen asleep on his changing mat, without a feed, and looking like Mr Cutie-Pants...sigh...

Sounds like we all had a good night the previous night and a totally pants one last night. This too shall pass....

hawthers you have the best/worst auto correct going... Have you checked out the website 'damn you autocorrect'? They posted some on here a while ago, and I swear I have not laughed so much in ages.

Well done aethel - I know how you feel. A golden haddock to you for your reserve!

And mopsy, you have done incredibly to get this far, and you have managed to give LO six weeks of milk which actually very few do (and I'm sure that many would want to). Allow yourself to feel however you need to for a day or two, but keep giving yourself the rational talk- hopefully you'll start to feel better about it when ff/bottle feeding had become the normal way of feeding minimopsy.

Hope all LOs are on the mend.

Right, dressing and off to bf group, see how that goes...

DarcieandSkysmum · 30/01/2012 09:25

Morning Ladies.

Sky let me get at least 6hrs sleep last night Smile

I'm taking Sky to her first baby group this morning and I look like my normal done up self this morning so all good in the Terry household.

Aethel I swear by Ashton & Parsons such a shame they are hard to come by. I' currently using Teetha granules & they are not that bad tbh.
Also can't get hold of the normal gripe water am using Boots own stuff.

YBR · 30/01/2012 09:30

mopsy we like The Baby Book: How to Enjoy Year One by Rachel Waddilove - it talks about flexible routine which works for us.

Not had the best night - each time the LO wakes us up we're trying to decide which of her poor parents is more ill and can go back to sleep! This too will pass.

msbuggywinkle · 30/01/2012 09:36

Bah, just lost my post.

To summarise. Lots of snot from elder 2. Miri growth spurt. Spent lots of money on new glasses for DP and me. Tired now!

luckysevens · 30/01/2012 10:02

Morning. Sorry everyone had such a rubbish night.

Why is Ashton and Parsons so expensive at the moment? I never tried it with DS. I used bonjela which I found much better than the calpol version. If its particularly bad Anbesol liquid is brilliant. It's only available over the counter as it contains alcohol so I only used it when nothing else seemed to be helping.

I also make bottles in advance, much easier, especially when we're out just heating up with a flask of hot water. The LF milk only comes as powder. The MW said it's the WHO advice to make fresh each time and in some places they aren't able to refrigerate pre-made feeds. Just make sure you cool the bottles in cold water before you put them in the fridge, I think it's what broke our last fridge when DS was little.

LittleMissFlustered · 30/01/2012 10:46

New tread title suggestion:

This too will pass (especially with imaginary wooly mammoth help).

Not very witty I know, though in my defence I last slept on Thursday night

I'm off in search of a Brew as I need the warmth, sugar and caffeine. We should be being shipped from PASSU to the children's ward proper today. If there's room. They're deep cleaning The six and four bed rooms here today as its so quiet. There are only two in, so we've got a side room to ourself at the minute.
