I have sick pouring down my stomach. ew

Checking in. Congrats MissRee!

Well done Bee for sorting the new thread. And particularly whilst having sick pouring down you Grin

Have had evening from hell trying to get DD off to bed whilst dealing with twisty DS who has alternated between screaming and feeding for the last two hours. Just an hour to wait and I get DH bearing the gift of fish and chips as my reward :)

hawthers · 13/01/2012 19:33

Checking in after ds2 feeding all day yesterday, he slot like a legend last night and also most of today so no doubt he'll be up most tonight Sad

Don't envy you kate have to do the same next week and i'm dreading it. Any tips gratefu

hawthers · 13/01/2012 19:34

lly received.

KateM77 · 13/01/2012 19:40

I've coped relatively well since DH back to work, but DD's bedtime is definitely the hardest part of the day. I've tried to get DS into a bit of a routine and feed him between DD's tea and bath in the hope that he'll settle for a sleep whilst I then do bath, stories and milk for DD. It doesn't always work though, and in the end you just have to put up with him screaming in the background for some of it in the knowledge that he's fine - been fed, winded, clean bum etc. This evening things were running so late that I skipped DD's bath and just changed her. Not sure these are the best tips, so if anyone else has some ideas I'd welcome them!

aethelfleda · 13/01/2012 19:43

Marking me place (whereas kate is marking her plaice....)

Busy day today here too: Took DDs to school then spent most of day driving with DH on the elusive car search... Have found a Ford Galaxy over in East London (we're in North Surrey) and drove round the M25 to test drive it, it had lots of really minor things wrong (like blown bulbs, missing bits of trim, fuse gone on the cig lighter) but effectively sound and felt fine to drive. The RAC check picked up the little things but no major issues so we are hopefully going to get it next week as long as the garage agree to fix the little niggles (i really hope they don't try to wriggle out of the fixes: we want the car but don't want to have to pay more to fix alll the niggles. Hope they will cave to get the sale!

All of you with two have my sympathy, I remember just how difficult it felt being torn between baby and toddlers' needs. I had juggling fun tonight when cooking fishfingers and microwaving pasta for the DDs while BFing DS! All I can say is hang in there, it DOES get better... And remember to drop your standards, take shortcuts to make life easier, get readymade/finger foods in rather than trying to be Annabel Karmel's handmaid, and BREATHE!!

OiMissus · 13/01/2012 19:45

Checking in, and adding that I picked up some more Lansinoh breast pads. Grin(disposable). The Tesco ones are AWFUL!!!

mopsytop · 13/01/2012 19:51

Hi all!

Congrats MissRee and welcome to Freya!

In spite of my amazing sleep, am totally knackered. Weirdly it nearly made me feel more tired. But got a good walk in today and made millionaires shortbread for my husband's work as a thank you for all the pressies they gave us (but I'm sure a few will find their way into my belly!!!).

Hope everyone is well. Some of you seem to be having a really rotten time with health issues and sicky babas, hope things improve soon!

LittleMissFlustered · 13/01/2012 20:05

'lo!

Marking place Grin

aethelfleda · 13/01/2012 20:24

Ooh, and well done misree, beautiful name and sounds like a great birth for you: so glad you avoided the full induction shebang!

aethelfleda · 13/01/2012 20:27

Oh yes-brief bargain newsflash- if anyone else wants to buy lansinoh disposable breastpads, Mothercare stores are running an in-store only offer of 3-for-2 on them (they are £5.49 for a 60 pack) so you can get 3 packets for £11. Highly recommended by me as a leaky person- they hold up to 20ml ( a shot of the vodka none of us get to drink anymore!)

bennybenbear · 13/01/2012 20:27

Marking place. Congrats missree, nice to end on a v positive birth story! Well done to us all!

NorthernChinchilla · 13/01/2012 20:48

Marking place and running for dinner!

HoneyLovesChristmasCake · 13/01/2012 21:22

Can't believe we're finally all postnatal! Congrats MissRee on your birth. I am a little Envy of your lack of stitches & the newborn smell Freya will have...I miss that :( Although Rocco's nappies do smell quite yummy to me [weirdo emoticon]

Spent the day at MIL's funeral & wake. Managed to get myself & Rocco ready & fed for 9am, woohoo. He was an absolute star all day; so calm & content; everyone was amazed. He started crying & rooting towards the end of the service so I nipped out to adjust him in the moby so he could latch on, came back in with cardi over him & apparently no one noticed. Apart from that he slept in the moby or when being passed around friends & family stayed alert but calm & content. I've been getting lots of undeserved praise for his perfect behaviour. Grin I left at 5 to avoid any fussiness later; exhausted now so I think we'll go to bed

Questions: The past 2 days Rocco's started waking just once a night for a 2 boob feed rather than many 1 boob feeds, but this means he's going longer than 3 hours between meals...is this ok or should I wake him? Also he's nursing less frequently during the day, but for longer...this is normal right?

BeeMyBaby · 13/01/2012 21:29

Honey I think at this stage its fine and encouraged for our babies to go longer between feeds at night. I would also agree that the poop smells nice and sweet at the moment - there was however a 3 day gap between dirty nappies and the smell stopped being sweet and smelled more fermented, not nice.

Is anyone else's baby starting to go longer between dirty nappies? I only had the 3 day gap once so far, but I remember for weeks DD1 would only go once a week (then would have a mega poo explosion pouring out of her clothes).

jigglebum · 13/01/2012 21:29

marking place. write more later.

aethelfleda · 13/01/2012 21:38

Honey:totally normal (it's called cluster feeding ) : , Just tank him up and enjoy the longer gaps!

(Albert has just "treated" me to a five-boob extravaganza: I hope this means a decent interval for me!!)

HoneyLovesChristmasCake · 13/01/2012 21:45

Thanks Bee that's great news...if I can get myself out of the habit of waking every 2 hours Hmm Night all!

msbuggywinkle · 13/01/2012 21:57

Woo postnatal!

Marking place while looking at cars...copying you aethel thinking about a Galaxy.

Figgygal · 13/01/2012 22:05

Hellooooo Marking my place too.

I have to do a mahoooosive load of washing tomorrow wee man seemed to have sped through clothes the last couple of days by either peeing through nappies and suits or throwing up on self.

Honey am glad funeral went ok and lo remained calm, we took danny to his great grandads nursing home today had to make sharp exit after half hour as he was a demon he's then slept pretty much all day and night, think he's gonna be trouble tonight.

Been having problems getting him to latch today he keeps spitting boob out screaming at me until he chokes so I end up giving him bottle very stressfuland it can't be helping supply am very envious of you ladies who are able to solely bf I'm never going to get there now.

MissRee · 13/01/2012 22:14

Cooooeeeey.... checking in Grin

Freya has slept almost alllllll day, waking only when i disturbed her for feeds! Hope this doesn't mean we're in for a restless night!

Actually feeling like I've been hit by a bus today tho... need to poo but too scared! Tried earlier but it felt like my innards were going to fall out Blush Any top tips????

LittleMissFlustered · 13/01/2012 23:22

Orange juice. Fresh. Lots of it.

sevenswansaswimming · 13/01/2012 23:25

Checking in!

Well after just one feed of lactose free milk Eva has slept in her basket for 4 hours. Evening is the only time she's normally settled though so we'll wait and see how she does during the night, she usually sleeps laying on my chest while I struggle to force myself to stay awake.

DH told his boss earlier how exhausted he is, his advice was "just make seven do all of her feeds" Hmm how he's still married after 2 DC's I don't know.
