Welcome notsucha Smile

Hurrah for crawling Gsy. even though Baby I isn't crawling he has been rolling and bum shuffling for sometime, so M has been good at moving his toys and putting small toys out of the way. I have also managed to keep M on Duplo rather than Lego, hopefully that will reduce the choking hazard opportunities

You've been quiet Fizz, I hope it all went ok for you yesterday {{hugs}}

Gawd I feel knackered tonight. I has been awake at silly o'clock in the morning

Anybody got any snow? We may have some tonight, if not tomorrow afternoon/evening. I won't hold my breath though, we always seem to be in a snow fall vortex. Norfolk and Essex get it, we're inbetween and seem to miss out Hmm M is desperate to build a snowman and complained that there wasn't any snow at Christmas, so I hope we do get some.

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 03/02/2012 20:29

Hey All,

Welcome NotSuch Grin

F has 2 BFs (both sides, first & last thing), and will occasionally have a couple of ounces of formula at around 3pm (sometimes more, sometimes none). Food-wise, he has much as we do: spag bol, veggie lasagne, mild curry, he loves dairylea sandwiches (although he does also love sharing them with the cat!), scrambled egg on toast (new fave!), mash & veg (with a bit of my sausage), roast dinner. We basically offer anything we're having, as long as it's not too salty/spicy.

Well, it turned out F didn't have croup Blush I was just freaking out! But he really did have one cough that sounded quite distinctive.

Fizz - belated hugs & love. How are you doing? And we've never cleaned our oven too! No jokes, I'm afraid, the only one I can think of is a rather un-pc science joke.

Frak - how's M? I haven't googled Sixth Disease yet.

OutMe - really sad news for your ex. Hope S has been sleeping better. V exciting about your appts!

NotBobbys - how has work gone? I hope you've found regaining 'normality' a good experience.

Cycle - your work situation sounds rubbish. Hope things work out in your favour (whatever that may be) soon.

No valentines plans here - we don't really 'do' valentines stuff. Presumably there'll be naff cards. But most importantly it's my birthday a fortnight after, and F's a few weeks after that!

GSY - I skimmed that poem, it made me feel guilty for working. It's either guilt for a grubby home or guilt for spending time cleaning. Can't win!

ILTMI - Grin at 'human dustbin'! And I'm suitably impressed at I being able to sit from lying. I don't think F will ever manage it!

Ali - amazing that T is nearly walking - F's favourite thing is to walk around holding both my hands. He has a proper tantrum if I can't/won't indulge him. But he's nowhere near independent walking.

Star - no suggestions for nappy change restraining - F just has a tantrum, tries to put whatever toys I'm trying to entertain him with into his nappy, and tries to kick my hands away. Hmm

No snow here. But it was -8 when I left for work, and -5 when I got there. Latest forecast I heard is (apparently) for snow for everywhere, but rain for Devon & Cornwall. Thanks. Rain isn't going to get me an extra day off!

The big news here is that after spending time with his cousin again last weekend (he's 4 months older) F is now commando crawling! It's incredible, he ALWAYS picks up a new trick from Cousin T, last time at xmas it was the rolling & finger-holding-walking.

I've got a fun weekend of cleaning ahead of me - being away last week means the whole place is a bit... manky! And then it's only a week till half term and a whole week off!

Work is just relentless at the moment. I have no idea how I'm supposed to do everything we're expected to do under the standard physical laws of time & human endurance. Better start by getting off mn Hmm Grin

I'm here. I'm fine. Just mega busy. will post update later!

OutMeAndDie · 04/02/2012 21:04

Hi all
Told the inlaws today. Shocked but pleased. Then told my mum and she's chuffed and not shocked. My nan was blasé. My bro wished me luck!

OutMeAndDie · 05/02/2012 00:28

Can someone reassure me? I've had Sharp pains in my stomach high up in the middle under my boobs since last night. They stopped during the day but started up again at dinner time and have been on and off since. Am so scared something terrible is going to happen. Dh is on his way home from London and s is being a nightmare and I have to keep going into him.

JKSLtd · 05/02/2012 05:09

Not sure but isn't that a bit high to be anything baby related just yet? Sure your uterus would be below your belly button/ around that height so far?

Think of the simple things first, heartburn? Indigestion? Got any gaviscon in?

Any bleeding? Or spotting?

Keep an eye and obv call MW if you are worried, or nhs direct (not that I've much faith in them) for ideas.

Hope you're ok.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/02/2012 07:35

You're up early JKS, here have a Brew

Hope all is ok OutMe. Your uterus is tucked away in your pelvis, so fingers crossed it is not a symptom directly associated with the baby.

We have snow Smile I can't wait to take the boys out in it!

OutMeAndDie · 05/02/2012 08:20

No spotting at all. Mil is an ex midwife and says it's normal. Used to the pelvis ones but this was so much higher. I've got enough formula for one more feed then I'm out and we have about 5 inches of snow. Would it be ok to change the brand do u think? Our local coop is 2 mins away but doesn't do hipp. Nearest hipp stockier is 20 min walk.

Starshaped · 05/02/2012 09:57

Glad you've been reassured outme. I'm Envy about your snow. We've got a miserly cm (max) of icey stuff. It's rubbish and I LOVE snow. Boo. Oh well, fingers crossed for next year!

No idea re the formula I'm afraid.

JKSLtd · 05/02/2012 10:26

DS2 up at 4-something & woke DS1 so 3 of us up v early. DH & DD slept on for hours Envy
I did go back to bed for a bit though. THanks for the tea :)

DS1 & DH playing in the snow, DS2 won't go out there & i'm 'looking after DD' as i know i go off it as soon as i get cold & wet Hmm Grin

I don't know about the formula, they are old enough to probably tolerate a change but if it were me I probably wouldn't risk it.

OutMeAndDie · 05/02/2012 12:11

Ouch that's early. S was up 6 times last night. Streaming nose today so I hope that's to blame. Dh undertaken 20 min walk to get hipp Grin. Guess I'll have to be nice to him today. Hope he brings me chocolate. Snow day tomorrow Grin

JoEW · 05/02/2012 13:21

Hi all,

Hi Notsuch, welcome! Toast and toppings are fail safe for us. Also pieces of soft fruit, banana, peach, plum in particular. Anything I'm eating, and he will always, always eat those organix crisps but I think they are nutritionally pointless. I sometimes use them as a distraction for getting healthier foods down too.

Star, the only thing that keeps C quiet during nappy change is if I let him hold the wipes. I am also certain the car keys and my Blackberry would be equally effective.

Ilike,we are T minus 17 days till C is one. Unbelievable. And we still haven't arranged a party. I think we might do one when we move (finally) in the Spring. This house is too small and I'm not sure he'd sleep in the buggy anymore if we did a pub or similar. We're both taking the day off and my parents have invited themselves over, so I'm sure we'll have a lovely day.

Valentines for us will prob just be cards. Well, I've bought a card. DH might not. It's too close to my birthday so he gets distracted by having put in all the effort for that. Apparently.

Hope all is well, Outme. I had forgotten that terrible 12 weeks till the first scan, when time stands still and you simply can't believe how long it takes to get there. Poor you!

Matchsticks required here. C has some sort of cold, tummy bug, high temp combo which resulted in the most horrific nappy at 4am, followed by tears, Calpol, milk and in bed with mummy. Then the dog decided to join us so I hung off the edge of the bed while the three males in my life made themselves comfy.

I keep meaning to update you on the sleep training but it's been quite stop/start as C keeps getting ill and then we have to stop and break all the rules. If I ever get anywhere I'll let you know how we did it.

Enjoy the snow. We're off to Richmond Park soon. Yay.

Cyclebump · 05/02/2012 14:01

Snooooow! It's quite deep here and I took H for a stroll in the sling earlier. He grabbed some and dropped it straight down my cleavage Hmm

Went to a hen do AND my sister's birthday yesterday, who knew I had a hidden talent for carving willies out of cucumber...

I came home early though and I'm glad I did, it was freezing in central London.

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 05/02/2012 16:15

I don't believe this snow nonsense. It's a toasty 7C+ here.

bitter cos it looks like I won't get an extended half term

GlaikitFizzog · 05/02/2012 17:14

Sorry for not coming back to update you all. I've taken some time to sort my head out after HV visit on Thursday. She was really nice and sympathetic. I think she thought I was angling to get signed off work, but that's not what I want. I go to work for a rest and a chance to be the "old" me. My job isn't high pressure or stressful yet and I think I've got the balance between work and being with B right. She suggested I consider putting B in with the CM when I'm not at work once or twice a month to give me a chance to get on with the things I can't do with B in tow. I'm not sure about that one TBH as I get plenty of time on my own when DH is around. what she has done is contact my consultant to discuss my failed induction and CS in more detail. She is also going to get me some more info on Bs TT and why, after it was noticed in the hospital, why no further action was taken there and then. She also gave me a row for trying to make a joke of it all, and sort of suggested hiding behind humour was my way of coping. She left it open for me as to whether I want ADs or not, but if I decide I do, she will chat with the GP first and explain my situation to save me having to go over it all again.

I've told my mum I don't want to discuss it with her right now. I need time to deal with it and talking to her about it will not help me. I assured her I wasn't about to fling myself off the Forth Bridge (I wouldn't be able to get my leg up over the side anyway) and I would prefer it if she didn't mention it or try to get info out of me by questioning me or DH as she had text him when I didn't call her back on Thursday. I have DH primed to "remind" her if need be.

Anyway that's enough about me for now! No snow here for a change!! Although it is bitterly cold! Those who have the white stuff stay safe!

Outme glad you are feeling better! Re formual I have had to give B a different brand of ready made as I forgot to pack an extra carton once and Boots had sold out of Aptamil. He wasn't fussed really, but his poo was a absolutly honking bit funny! Hope DH remembers your chocolate.

Grin at your cucumber willies Cycle why is it on a hen doo we liberated and sophisticated women feel the need to do vulgar things with phalic shaped vegetables!! Grin

Jo I can't believe C is almost 1! He shares a birthday with my BFF, so he is in good company!

I've looked out all my cake decorating stuff again as one of my mummy friends asked me to to a cake topper for her DSs Christening Cake. I need to get back into it again before Bs birthday as I am planning a cake extravaganza!!

I'll just finish with a huge thank you to you all again for your support last week. Everything hit me so hard and fast I was reeling from it. ou guys proped me up til I could find my balance again. many many ThanksWine and Brews to you all.

Hey fizz great to hear from you. Sounds like the hv was good. We will always be here for you.
Dh got me choc hob nobs. YUM.

OutMeAndDie · 05/02/2012 18:42

Gosh notsuch I don't think I said hi and welcome. [waves]

What pram did u have for your 2? I want a travel system again but with a seat for DS.

NotBobbysGirl · 05/02/2012 19:06

Hi guys, not had much of a chance to get on and keep up since Thursday - am actually at work just now!! Naughty me!

Work itself pretty much going fine but R is poorly just now with a horrendous cold and teething so I feel terrible for leaving her :( DP is having a crash course in extreme parenting as we speak - think he's coping relatively well though!

Will post more Weds as I'm off then. :)

Fraktal · 05/02/2012 19:17

Welcome notsuch

Glad you're feeling a bit more balanced fizz. Hopefully getting it out did some good.

outme does the wait feel longer this time round? I don't really remember feeling worried or stressed last time but I can imagine it would be different for a second when you. Hope the pain was nothing sinister and you're feeling better.

That's an important artistic talent cycle. I now won't be able to look at a cucumber for a week, which isn't good as we have mini ones in the fridge!

jo I can't believe it's this month C is 1, especially as his EDD was so close to M. Around this time last year you were supposed to go to Paris! I wonder how gormers got on? Her DD would be one already, no?

Food wise M eats what we do but has developed a taste for bread soaked in homemade vegetable or lentil soup or soup used as a sauce for pasta. He loves meatballs, cheese, melon, blueberries, strawberries, microwaved apple, prunes (not my child!) - most fruit in fact -- cucumber, carrot, broccoli... Anything really! This week he's had fish and spinach pie, pizza, lasagne, soup, meatballs twice and mac n cheese for tea Grin

We are finally better. Paed confirmed his initial diagnosis when the rash came out, and the temp vanished then so all okay!

Mmmn bed for just M and me tonight. DH is on duty Wink

Fraktal · 05/02/2012 19:18

X post with nbg. It's shit, isn't it? I had to work last week when M was poorly so new nanny had a baptism of fire. Sending get well thoughts to R.

OutMeAndDie · 05/02/2012 19:49

I feel much better today ta. I often think of gormers. I wonder how she is.

OutMeAndDie · 05/02/2012 19:50

Oh and the waits the sane but you think you know what to expect so I seem to be more worried and scared.

chillikat · 05/02/2012 20:45

Hi all, hello Not yummy
We're back from my Nan's 90th in the North East where it was cold and icy but not snowy. M was pretty good all things considered with strange surroundings, lots of people wanting cuddles and a late night in a strange travel cot. She couldn't take her eyes off my Nan when we were sat next to her - it was very cute. Maybe she knows that's partly who she's named after.
We ordered her her first meals out in restaurants over the weekend - just a side of veg but it kept her quiet. I also gave her some of my pizza and as she enjoyed that so much I ordered a garlic bread on Saturday though mainly because I'm greedy and wanted it She's also been eating lots of breakfast while we've been away - fruit, including dried banana this morning which I didn't think she'd go for but did; then a couple of weetabix, and finishing with toast. Though it backfired a bit today when I then fed her a Plum pouch at lunchtime and everything bounced, she's not often sick but when she is... full change for both her and DH, fortunately I wasn't hit.
Back home not and we do have snow - a few inches. It might be interesting going out tomorrow.

Got to go - she's calling....
