Meant to say that the 3 feeds in the day are the same time as OutMe - one when she wakes, 3ish and bedtime.

OutMeAndDie · 02/02/2012 08:46

Another bad night with s. Woke at 1. 4.30 and 515. Wouldn't settle so gave him calpol and teething gel but still no good so once again had to being him in with me. Still took a time for him to settle. But he eventually slat til 815. I'm thinking growth spurt maybe. He's been draining 7oz at bed time so I'm going to up it today. Fingers crossed.

Thinking of you nbg

NotBobbysGirl · 02/02/2012 09:56

We're doing 3 bottles a day too Jo morning, 3ish and bedtime, they were 6ozs but have recently upped them to 7 as R was draining them, at least that way I know when she drops to 2 that she's still getting a good amount of milk! Well I say all that and then this morning she refused her bottle point blank!! So I gave her the majority of it in her weetabix instead.....they were a bit sloppy Grin

Sooooo today's the day :( I'm so sad. It hardly feels like I've been off any time at all, hard to believe it's actually been 10.5 months!! Dropped R off at nursery at 9 so now have a few hours to myself before starting work at 1, don't finish til 9 tonight and start again at 7am tomorrow morning so won't see R again til I get home at 3!!

OutMe Am wondering if R is having a growth spurt too, she's been really restless overnight too although not actually waking for prolonged periods just having a cry, a roll about and then going back to sleep. She refused her morning nap yesterday and then proceeded to fall asleep in the jumperoo while I was in the shower!!!

OutMeAndDie · 02/02/2012 16:55

So the midwife called this am and asked if she could come to do my booking appt and give my scan date. So all sorted. Scan booked for 7th march :-). 16 week consultant appt booked for 10th April. Eeee.

Aaaaargh! Enormous work rant approaching...

So, finally had my flexible working meeting on Tuesday. I'm sure you all remember my various rants about the company.

Anyhoo, I arrive to discover my computer is gone and I have no desk. I then find out that the COO (the company owner's son) has decided to sit in on the meeting. I was allowed a member of my team in the meeting, I picked my editor. No one has discussed anything with her and she has no idea what's going on.

Then follows an awkward meeting (no one realised my computer had been removed for example), when asked if I wanted to return I was honest, I pointed out that being told my job 'seemed a bit pointless' and being asked 'what do you do all day?' had left me with the distinct impression that I wasn't wanted. T'was a bit heinous.

They're apparently getting back to me 'rapidly'.

OutMeAndDie · 02/02/2012 17:07

God that's shite cycle

JKSLtd · 02/02/2012 17:42

Cycle - that sounds awful. Glad you had a chance to grab someone for your side.

OutMe - ooh getting exciting!!

I'm still BF and think we are on about 6 feeds a day, wouldn't mind if she dropped a few more tbh.

Fraktal · 02/02/2012 18:00

Hope all is well nbg

jks still bf here too and lots of feeds, mostly at night Hmm

outme it's all getting very real! I'm excited for you Grin

cycle sorry you're having such a shit time with work. They sound very disorganised and unappreciative.

Getting better here. I had to google it as well but apparently, like toxoplasmosis, it's one of those things that's considered entirely normally in France so that would explain why no-one's heard of it! Temp is mostly down but poor little chap is still A but red.

To turn the conversation towards something fun who has plans for Valentines?! I know what I'm getting because DH is incapable of keeping an exciting secret so now I need to think up something for him.

GsyPotatoPieEyed · 02/02/2012 18:02

Thought i'd share this poem that was on my local NCT facebook page:

I hope that my children look back on today
and remember a mother who had time to play
There's plenty of time for cleaning and cooking
... and children grow up when you're not looking
So the cobwebs can wait and dust go to sleep
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

JKSLtd · 02/02/2012 19:37

Aww, cute & very true :)

Frak - we don't really do valentine's - lucky really as DH is off to a football match in London on the night Hmm Grin
We bought each other a card a few years ago and we keep them, write the year in with a x and recycle them Grin Dh just re-found mine to him so i'm sorted, not sure if he's found his to me yet.

All DD's feeds are during the day, and she sleeps like a dream (apart from sometimes waking for a dummy but the clip does seem to have mostly sorted that out) for about 13 hours at night, so it's 6ish feeds in 11 hours Hmm
And she eats lots of food at mealtimes too.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/02/2012 19:46

T just BFs loads all the time. 2-3 during the night, morning, 3-4 during the day and then bedtime. He also eats masses. He is like a little mini-prop forward Grin
He so nearly walked today! He will walk along next to me holding my hand but hasn't gone solo yet.

We don't do Valentines here either, we decided when we got married that our anniversary would be the important one and we would pretty much ignore Valentines. I think it might be because we're old and boring Grin

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/02/2012 19:46

Lovely poem, think I might just have a little something in my eye

What a nightmare Cycle, I hope they get their shit together and treat you as you deserve to be treated.

I hope today was ok Bobby'sGirl

We have about 4 feeds here a day. Defo one when he wakes up in the morning (my way of keeping him dozy and sleepy for a little longer), one mid morning, one about 4.30 when he starts to get a bit strung out, then one when I put him to bed. I don't feed him in the night anymore, if he wakes up I don't feed him and he doesn't ask. If he does I feed him, but that's normally if he wakes after 4am Hmm

An exciting developmental step happened here today. Baby I (finally) worked out how to get from laying to sitting. I think crawling may not be too far away.

I can't believe that some people on here can now say that their lo will be 1 next month, that's mad. Actually, thinking about it, can JoeW say her lo is 1 this month?

I know I say this a lot, but bloody hell, where has the time gone????

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/02/2012 19:50

Oh yes, Valentines. Gawd, I have no idea what I am going to get dh ..........

Ha ha, my getting excited about I getting into the sitting position has been well and truly trumped by Ali's T walking along with her Grin

We call Baby I the human dustbin. He eats A LOT, hence the size of his thighs! He is also as tall as my friends boy who is a year older than him Shock

Starshaped · 02/02/2012 20:09

P can do the walking alongside us thing too Smile - she looks so cute wobbling toddling along! Don't think she's that close to independent walking though, which probably isn't a bad thing.

She's nine months next week and I completely agree ILike - where has the time gone? I remember posting on here in the first few weeks feeling like I was at crisis point and pleading with people to tell me that it would get easier at some point. I want time to slow down now!

We don't really do Valentines either. We always buy each other a card and DH sometimes buys me a bunch of flowers but we've never done gifts or meals out. I think it's all a bit of rip off really. I don't think we're the most romantic of couples TBH Hmm

Was it today that you were seeing the HV Fizz? Hope that she was supportive and able to offer some good advice.

Finally, any advice on how to control DD during nappy changes? They've become a nightmare. She thinks it's hilarious to roll over and crawl off mid way though them. Short of pinning her down, I don't know how I can stop her from escaping with a bare bum. She howls when I have to wrestle her back into position. Gawd knows what the neighbours think I'm doing!

JKSLtd · 02/02/2012 20:33

So DD is a big baby too but not as active as the other big babies - gosh she is lazy Grin
Quite thankful every day that she doesn't crawl though - and as for the falling over stage, that can wait too! We are going to have to get disciplined with lego, playmobil, other stuff, once she gets moving.
I feel swallowed tiny toys are inevitable Hmm

Re nappy changes - I think pining down is the way to go Grin having toys handy for them to look at for just a second sometimes works.
Also - if you can get into baby signing, the nappy changing song sometimes helps.

chillikat · 02/02/2012 21:29

Hello all, have been reading but not posting. Cycle that's rubbish about work. I've been sorting my return. Have eventually convinced them that I should be able to take 3 weeks leave with full time pay before going back part time as I earned the leave as full time. They wanted me to take it as part time and end up with a ridiculus number of days to take for the rest of the year. I felt that the pay was more important than extra days as we still have to pay half nursery fees for holidays.

Over the last couple of days M has learned how to get down from standing up agains the sofa :) DH has been trying to teach her how to do downstairs backwards. She also stood for a few seconds on her own today :o she'll walk holding hands but isn't really bothered for it.

Star i feel your pain with nappy changes. The bare bum is cute but needs to be covered. It seems to take a different toy each time, currently the singing bear is keeping her occupied.

I've no idea how many feeds M has - first thing, mid morning, a couple in the afternoon and bedtime, though it might be a few at bedtime if she's tired and doesn't feed very long before dropping off. Then (touch wood) just the one in the night recently.

And now we've had a few good nights we're away this weekend to mess it all up :( family party for my Nana's 90th. Not that we'll be staying long as the buffet is coming out at 7.30 just when M usually goes to bed. My mum asked if we couldn't keep her up a bit longer? not unless she wants to hear a howling, over tired baby.

gys love the poem :)

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/02/2012 21:50

Cycle that is utterly crap about work, hope they get their act together.

Nappy changes are a Nightmare here too. I have some success with songs, but often end up holding T by his ankles as he tries to set off across the bed while frantically wiping shit from his bum. DS1 used to kick, but he would lie still!

ILike - DS1 was only rolling about a bit at this age Grin We went on holiday when he was exactly 11 months and he started to crawl then.

Outme - eek exciting! How are you feeling? Knackered and sick or ok?

OutMeAndDie · 02/02/2012 22:08

Love the poem Smile

I'm not feeling too bad. Tired, but not unbearably. Feel a bit eugh on the tube coming home from work. They reckon I'm 7+3 but I think I'm less so not sure if and when symptoms will kick in....

notsuchayummymummy · 02/02/2012 22:48

Hi all Smile I have been a lurker for a while and hope its ok to jump aboard ? It's lovely to hear about all your lo's
OutMeAndDie - I have a feb 10 and apr 11 babe- so 14 mths between my girls. Tis hard work but seeing them smile at each other each morning when they get up is wonderful.
Might I ask you a few questions? For those that are still EBFing- how often are you feeding? Bottle fed dd1 due to severe undiagnosed tt so just wondering if I am still roughly about right on frequency of feeds.
Also- what are your little ones favourites for finger foods/meals? Am mainly blw this time although they both have awful colds again atm so am backing up with a bit of spoon feeding.

Many thanks x Smile

JKSLtd · 03/02/2012 05:11

Hi Notsuch :)
There's 14 months between my sister & me, my Mum went on to have 2 more (boys) so it didn't put her off!

I'm BF still, about 6 feeds in the daytime, none at night now (thankfully).
Normally both sides first thing, another one about 10ish then she has a nap.
Then another 2 somewhere in the afternoon, bit vague. And then bedtime.
But i think yesterday there must have been more as she had 4 before her nap.
It's still pretty much as and when she wants, I've just been trying to keep track to try nd notice when she drops one.
Last night DH gave her her sippy cup with water in and that definitely satisfied her for a while - felt a bit rejected tbh! Hmm

DS2 up too early, again. And greeted me with a disgustingly smelly nappy. The joys....

Starshaped · 03/02/2012 07:15

Hi NotSuch.

DD is still breastfed. She now has three feeds per day - first thing, mid afternoon and before bed. She usually has one at night too (she sleeps through about twice a week).

Hard to tell how much milk she actually has but she always has both sides and we tend to be there for a good 15 minutes each time.

JKSLtd · 03/02/2012 07:19

Ah a difference in definition of feed I think.
I say one side is a feed, so 6ish a day.
You say both sides is a feed so 3ish - think we're basically the same though Smile

notsuchayummymummy · 03/02/2012 07:37

Thank you very much jks and starshaped. Dd feeds before getting out of bed at 6ish, once mid morning once mid afternoon, at bedtime and then a dream feed at 11pm. I think last night was the first night she didn't feed in the night- I often find I'm at fault cause I react to the slightest squeak from her.
I think dd is nowhere near as advanced with her food as she could be at this age because her sister has problems with her oesophagus which tends to make me cautious I guess- I just don't think to offer her a lot of foods just cause I don't think of them any more. Any suggestions on favourites I could try her on? I don't want her stifled by her sisters unfortunate limited diet. Tricky tbh

Starshaped · 03/02/2012 09:27

I wouldn't worry Notsuch - don't they say that food is for fun until they're one? Are you doing BLW or taking the more traditional route?

That makes sense JKS Smile. I was a bit worried that it sounded like P was getting much less milk. It just shows why you shouldn't compare other babies!

GsyPotatoPieEyed · 03/02/2012 12:28

P celebrated her 10mth birthday by doing proper crawling Smile
DS is learning to share his toys or move them out the way quickly Grin

Hello Notsuch
P's favourite finger foods are small things she can pick up in her finger tips like
Peas, Blueberries, Rice Krispies
She also likes
Anything with pasta
chips Potato wedges
Beef stroganoff
Bolognese
Risotto
Fruit fingers - pear/mango/papaya/banana. I leave the skin on the mango/papaya so she can grip it better, she'll just chuck the skin on the floor when she's finished with it.

  • anything DS has left on his plate, last night in addition to her own dinner she scarved half of a skinless sausage, and more peas. This morning she had a few of his leftover milky cheerios on her tray.

Luckily she's not fussy and will eat most things i've given her, although I think they have both been watching too much Charlie & Lola as neither of them will touch moonsquirters.

If I want a quick cheat I use purees as quick sauces. For instance yesterday P had plaice poached in milk. i flaked it and stirred in half a pouch of Plum sweet potato, courgette and cheese 4mo puree. The other half will be a pasta sauce for lunch today.
