chocoroo · 02/01/2012 16:57

I am marking my place and off to catch up,..been travelling and busy over Christmas but back to reality now. More soon...

WeAreBorg · 02/01/2012 16:58

Oh good I'm glad needto is okay. reastie your day out sounds lovely. Thanks ledkr it's still early for speech I guess, we just have genius babies on this thread that make me feel slightly paranoid! Hope D feel is better soon.
Yes my tolerance of my PILs is very high now, they can do pretty much anything and it washes over me, I just smile and nod.

reastie · 02/01/2012 18:27

borg Alice only says dadadada. I actually have a theory re: babies speech maybe you could all dis prove - I think those babies with older siblings are speaking earlier than those of us with just one baby Hmm . The theory came from my mum saying my sister talked earlier than me because she had me talking to her all the time - got me thinking and from my very small sample those babies with older brothers/sisters have infact talked earlier.

Emski76 · 02/01/2012 20:02

Reastie, your theory re speech could be true, tho I never spoke much because my sister would talk for me!
Noah grunts and points to things. If we say 'where's your hat?' he will put whatever he had in his hand on his head, this is our party trick and we get him to perform it for all our visitors!

Borg, wow, N took some steps, pretty impressive. Don't think Noah will walk for a while, he sees too happy crawling and can get quite a speed up!

Who goes back to work this week? Good luck to those who do!

Ledkr, glad you enjoyed your chilled family day. Dh and I were in bed (asleep) by 10pm on NYE. Luckily fireworks woke me up just after midnight so we were able to say Happy New Year!

Back to work tomorrow, and I have to admit I'm looking forward to the rest!

debka · 02/01/2012 20:09

Evening all! Just got in from my second run Grin. ledkr it's over 9 weeks and takes you from couch potato to 5k runner in 9 weeks. Allegedly. More here

reastie Leeds Castle is only about 40 mins from us and I love it there, would be great to meet up there. The tulips are beautiful in the spring. bloody expensive to get in though

ledkr am well jel of your day, my 2 were about killing each other by 4pm, then I turned on them by 5 Grin

mizk your NYE sounds a ball, I was in bed Grin

Glad to hear needto is ok, I think about her and her DP sometimes, please send my love if you're in touch again reastie

Are all the other babies on 2 sleeps a day now? S is waking in the night sometimes (4am-5am) and I've been wondering if it's because she needs to cut down on the daytime sleep. She will happily have 3 a day, waking about 5 for bed at 7 Shock, but I only let her have 2 today, she woke at 3.15 from the last and was screaming with tiredness by bedtime at 6.45pm. We'll See how she does tonight...

chocoroo · 02/01/2012 20:21

Gosh, sounds like you've all had eventful holidays. Sorry to hear of I'll mummies and babies...DP and I were both under the weather but R has been on top form.

You'll have to forgive me not responding to everyone...I have borked my arm - a recurring problem from an old neck injury so typing is a problem, and scrolling on the iPad even harder!

deb Would you believe we're already on just one sleep a day here? She usually has about an hour at nursery at lunch time. Admittedly she has had a short nap at some point in the afternoon over Christmas, but her routine has depended on what we're doing really.

emski Hat trick is v cute! R plays hides by bobbing down behind the sofa and shouting "arrrrrrrr" when she pops up.

reastie Your theory makes sense. R has three words now but really they're just noises iykwim. Ta, No and Hiya. Hiya is a new trick she learned from a friends baby on NYE. She has a good head shake to go with No, that's the word she definitely uses correctly Hmm I did here that it's either walking or talking though.

borg Congrats to the walking!

mizk I know what you mean re: Liverpool outfits. They scare me when we've been! Sounds like a good night.

ledkr Can't believe how chilled you are re: PIL. Did you double up on the Prozac?!

ponyo What a twunt! Don't feel pushed out of your home. I vote you move to Brum though nearer me your mum.

Right. Arm is about to dop off and I need to find me work bag for tomorrow. Ugh. Good luck to all those who're starting back this week.

blizy · 02/01/2012 20:36

Hi girls,

ledkr You have certainly turned a corner re: pils! Im glad you all had a nice day today.

borg Good to hear from you! WOW at Nate walking! Grin

debka I have been thinking about C25K for a bit, I have put on all of the weight I lost for the wedding and then some! I need to be fitter and healthier before I get pregant but I have been comfort eating lately.

ponyo That would have scared me too. Are you defo looking to move house?

reastie How are you feeling now?

emski enjoy your rest at work! I'm not due back until the 9th.

chocco I hope your arm is better soon.

A massive Hi to any of you lurking Grin.

I am feeling much better today, a day of husband snuggles (yes just cuddles) and talking things through has helped. We are going to book our honeymoon for the beginning of March, so it gives us something to look forward to over the next 2 months.

I hope everyone has a good night.

hub8allthemincepies · 02/01/2012 20:52

freya will babble until i give her a dummy just for some peace all day long but only turns 360 on her bum with still no effort to move. She does sign now though for milk, food bath and sleep, says hiya and bye with waves aswell as mummy daddy and nana.
I'm a lot calmer about her not moving now i know there is nothing wrong so if it really is bugging you borg ask your dr.

Finally have freya's 9month check tomorrow.

Good luck those going back to work x

chocoroo · 02/01/2012 21:32

hub Love that Freya is signing away. R only does the sign for more so far - could mean anything usually although is almost always in relation to biscuits or singing!

blizy glad you're feeling better. Am Envy at booking of honeymoon. Such a nice thing to be planning.

Meant to ask, what milk are the babies having? R is still on 3 bottles but I think I need to at least get her to have the daytime one from a cup not a bottle - any thoughts?

ILovePonyo · 02/01/2012 21:38

No I just lost a post! It was massive, I had just typed "I'm going to post this now before I do something stupid and lose it haha" Angry

I can't be bothered to re type, sorry, but will come back on tomo instead - hope the babies sleep well tonight!

WeAreBorg · 02/01/2012 23:01

Bonsoir,

mizk I had a look earlier at your thread with the intention of posting until I realised it had gone a bit scary. Interesting re your Joe, N is not a cuddler either.

reastie i think your theory is good, you should change your nn to profreastie.

deb N has 1-2 naps, sometimes less than 30mins in the day, and often does not go to bed until after 10pm. He is ridiculous.

choc N breast feeds all the time if I'm there, if I'm not he won't have any milk from any receptacle. He is ridiculous.

hubbard thanks, I am not quite worried enough to see the doc yet, though he seems so far off saying hiya with a wave. I think it's prob all within the realms of normal. We haven't had a 9 month check either, but might book in with the HV

Gotta go, N crying

Emski76 · 03/01/2012 07:37

Morning all,
Backto work today.
Noah refuses all milk now so we give him lots of dairy instead. He is down to two naps aday, half hour in am and longer in afternoon. He only had one nap yesterday as didn't wake until 7.30! Am hoping mil and nursery can work me on cutting out his morning nap.

Best go, get the boys ready

reastie · 03/01/2012 13:14

just popping on super quickly to see how blizys tree for zoe is doing. I hear there's a gale in glasgow Hmm

blizy · 03/01/2012 13:34

Reastie, the tree is fine. Can't say the same for my roof tiles thoughConfused. The wind was so much worse than the hurricane bawbag. 'twas quite frightening. It has calmed down now thankfully.

Emski hope your working day goes by quickly.

ledkr · 03/01/2012 15:49

Morning all.
blizy Glad Zoes tree is ok,but im with you on the damage. My fence panel has blown down and bits of my chimney are on the patio Hmm
Dilly has di a ree ah-haha m not evn trying to spell it.What am i mean to do?Shes not eating much and having some milk,do i need to starve her?
I feel you may all be a little over zealous re pils.Let me be clear Grin they are still self centred, formal, perfect world dwellers who faff about so much that half a day is gone before we can do anything. They are ridiculous with their dc treating them as if they are still babies.
Bil stays over xmas and reverts to childhood whilst Mummy waits on him.He pees the sofa sometimes when he goes out with his mates and gets pissed.
sil has returned home after break up with boyf bringing a big dog who has taken over the house and fil gets up early to walk it every day,sil went out nye and fil got up at 3am to pick her up.She is nearly 30 btw.
Bil and sil are looking for a house nearby so mil can provide free child care when they have kids Shockeven tho she currently works ft.
I did fell a bit p'd off with bil and sil as they make very little effort with Ella, they speak to her to say hello and good bye with very little in between, good job we dont see much of them cos Ella seemed really fed up at times, hence me taking her out.

ILovePonyo · 03/01/2012 17:55

Hi all, right am going to try and re type what I wrote yesterday...

Thanks all for kind words re: stupid twunt being a stupid twunt - ledkr I did Grin at you having to duck into superdrug, just like me disappearing into dunelm! blizy we want to move eventually anyway, the schools aren't very good around here and it is a bit rough (shocker). I am loving looking on rightmove and ignoring the fact that I don't actually know where we want to move to - we had a big drive around yesterday looking for potential areas but none the wiser. choco I would love to move closer to brum but dp and I have stupid jobs and stuff here, bah.

Anyway! blizy glad Z's tree is ok, that tree has withstood a lot hasnt it? Honeymoon - exciting! Where are you thinking of?

deb how is the running going? Am well impressed, need to find my ipod and download it. I am pretty baffled re: naps too, A usually has 2 a day from anything from 30 mins to 2 hours, but yesterday she had loads of naps and slept pretty well last night, only woke a couple of times for her dummy. I think we have let her get over tired a lot recently and then she's a nightmare to get off to sleep, lots of crying etc, but if we put her down when she still seems quite awake she settles herself - its always a (nice) surprise when she does!

hubbard F sounds so clever signing loads, I bet she looks really sweet doing it too :) How was the 9 months check? I've heard nowt from my hv since A was tiny Confused Hmm

choco A is still having at least 3 bottles a day - she doesn't really drink from a cup so will keep to the bottles for now just so I know she is drinking the milk. When is the time to worry about this?! Grin Oh and what is "borked" Grin

MizK love the sound of the 'sights' in Liverpool - bet you wanted to take some pics!

Borg Grin at N being ridiculous and wow at the walking, A is getting good at pulling herself up but is a drama queen if she topples over Hmm

A was a big old grump yesterday but has been on top form today, lots of laughing, I am obv very funny Grin Wink She also just ate a massive bowl of chicken curry and rice for her tea, the same curry that we had - it was quite hot! I have never seen her open her mouth so wide for food, it must be her indian heritage Wink dp was very proud Grin

wigglesrock · 03/01/2012 18:36

Evening, well we are holding onto our roof by our fingernails Shock It has now begun absolutely pelting it down. The girls are quite excited by it all. Mr W watched the Wizard of Oz with them over Christmas and they are now in love with Dorothy and of course red shoes Grin

blizy yay for Zoes' tree, thought of you today when I realised how bad it was here. We've had quite a few snow blizzards but its so wet nothing is lying. I'm nearly finished The Midwifes Confession, really enjoying it, thanks for the recommendation.

chocoroo Anna still has milk from bottles, when I switched her to cows milk I started off trying her with a cup but she wasn't for having it, she'll drink water all day from her cup but nothing else.

Finishing off the holidays here, Sofia is back on Monday but Olivia goes back this Thursday we she can't wait. Went to the cinema to see Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. Have to say was the strongest of the trilogy Grin.

reastie · 03/01/2012 18:53

Terrible today here too - we discovered 3 leaks in our roof which had damaged stuff in our loft Shock and DH and I got woken up by the wind and rain clattering on the windows (Alice didn't seem to notice though Hmm )

blizy glad the tree is OK

Re: naps, Alice usually has one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Occasionally 2 but that's usually just if we go for a long drive. It can last anything from 15 mins - over an hour a pop.

I did my last baby sensory before work today and nearly shed a tear Sad . MIL will take her for a couple of months once I'm back.

Re: milk - my hv told me so long as they have 1 pint (or the equivalent) or milk and/or dairy (including cheese/yoghurt etc) then that's all they need. Obv this is hard to work out with bfing though Confused . I've just cut alice down to 2 milk feeds a day now and she only ever has water to drink in a beaker with milk. At lunch I gave her the beaker with no lid as the lids were in the dishwasher . I held the beaker obv but she was really excited to drink like a big girl and drunk double what she usually does Grin

Sorry if I missed anything, am getting organised for a trip to kew gardens tomorrow Grin

debka · 03/01/2012 19:03

Well this cutting down on naps lark isn't going well. S was shatteroony last night, still woke at 3.45am. I just left her bad bad mummy she cried for about an hour then went back to sleep till 7.15. Today she's had less sleep as well (only catnapped in the car this pm), and was knackered by 6pm, almost too tired to eat her tea until I spoon fed her yoghurt. We'll see how she does tonight, but she's coughing a lot again, think she's poorly. Dammit. Might get her up if she wakes tonight, even I'm not mean enough to leave a poorly baby.

wiggles I love reading about the things you do with your girls and thinking I'll be able to do it soon- like Wizard of Oz and cinema trips. What's that Midwife book about?

ponyo S loves strong tasting food more than any other, she gobbled up about 6 olives today, DH gave her pickled eggs at xmas , think it's nonsense that babies prefer bland food.

ledkr your pils are officially weird.

reastie dammit to the leaks, that stinks. I went up to the loft today to find the mice have nibbled open about half of the bags of clothes I have stored up there. Much poison has been doled out.... Our satellite dish got blown down today but Mr Fixit sorted it, God bless him.

Right, best go, weigh day tonight, shall I run there? Grin

ledkr · 03/01/2012 19:28

Oh no deb was it your size 8's that got chewed? I couldnt run today cos id be blown away, weight or no weight Grin
Im wondering whether my chimney can be fixed on the house insurance. It needs repairing but not necessarily due to the wind, anyone know about insurance?Ive never claimed in about 20 yrs.

Great news about the Steven Lawrence murderers getting convicted,i wanted to do the conga down the rd but thought i may get sectioned.

ILovePonyo · 03/01/2012 19:48

Ooh yes ledkr agree with you about the SL murderers getting convicted, some serious corruptness there in the past though. No idea about house insurance sorry, erm lie?! Wink Grin

wggles Grin at chipmunks, they make me want to throw stuff at the tv when they come on with their annoying squeaky voices Angry

deb totally agree with you about strong tasting food, no more boring old brocolli and potato for A, she never ate it anyway! Will be spicing her food up so hopefully she'll eat more :) Hope S doesn't get poorly, god the naps are baffling arent they?!

reastie oh no to leaks, thats something you don't need isn't it. Hope its not a big faff to sort it. A loves drinking out of a proper (glass) cup - I give her water like that when she hasn't drank much during the day and drinks loads. Anything interesting at baby sensory?!

Am watching Got to Dance - I love it! Anyone else or am I on my own with that confession saddo

A is at nursery tomo, its just one day this week to keep her space, is it mean that I am really looking forward to a day of lazing around and going for food with dp?

wigglesrock · 03/01/2012 19:55

ledkr we claimed on our house insurance before, for tiles blown off during a storm. As far as I can remember the insurance company double checked the weather for the week we were claiming the damage happened in and that was that. We paid the excess but was fairly straightforward.

I know, am delighted about the result, although my heart broke everytime I heard his parents speak, they are so strong. He would have been the same age as me now, so very sad and pointless.

ponyo Anna also likes really strong tasting food, she has quite a penchant for garlic based things and Quavers, prawn crackers Blush.

debka ick, ick to mouses!!! The book is about 3 friends, one of them commits suicide (the midwife) and the other two friends discover a web of lies and intrigue Grin. Its by Diane Chamberlain, off to have a nosy at some more of her books later.

blizy · 03/01/2012 20:40

wiggles I finished the book this afternoon, it was fab. I also read breaking the silence and have just downloaded secret lives. I love discovering a new author.

reastie Hope the leaks get fixed! I'm with ponyo, I miss hearing about the baby sensory sessions.

debka eeek to the mice! I hope S is ok and sleeps well tonight.

Honeymoon is going to be in Vegas and New York, I can't wait. Grin
We have just watched Hostel part 3 it was pants. I am now being subjected to Final Destination 5 - also pants! I asked to watch a good horror and they are dh suggestions Hmm.

debka · 03/01/2012 21:04

blizy am tres Envy of your honeymoon, sounds amazing!

ledkr har har my little tow wouldn't fit in a size 8 yet

wiggs book sounds ace, I'll have a look at the library Amazon Grin

Right who wants to hear how much I lost? I lost SEVEN lbs, that's 1/2 a stone!! Was so shocked!! Got my 3st award and feel great. The running obv makes a difference. I'll be swimming tomorrow am too (get me!)

ILovePonyo · 03/01/2012 21:10

blizy Shock and very jel of your honeymoon - wow! That will be incredible, can't wait to hear all about it! I havn't watched a lot of films recently, esp not horrow films but they sound rubbish Wink Have you seen district 9? I love that film. And Let the right one in? I got the inbetweeners for xmas, not watched it yet (not horror I know Grin)

deb bloody hell you are an inspiration - well done! You sound like a real fitness fanatic now Grin
