Hv even!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 30/12/2011 08:39

I know for newborns it's around 18hours per day. Mhairi is 9 weeks old now and she is probably still sleeping around 18hours but more through the night now than in the day.
I can get big proper smiles but she's hard to amuse and it takes quite a bit of silly entertainment to get them lol

Oh and welcome strawberry

CheshireDing · 30/12/2011 08:41

Insainly Envy of everyones sleep and can only console myself that Pebble seems to be in the same position, sorry Pebble.

Ha, yes Fleecy, the silver lining of food poisoning and bf is that I can get a pair of jeans (which I last wore when I was skinny and backpacking when I was 26 off without undoing them), oh for the skinnyness to last forever, sigh.

Welcome Strawberry. My PFB was born on 5th October and for a good while DH was worried she was too small and having new Parent freak-outs :). At the end of the day though she is on a centile and just little, we can't all be the same size. I might a baby girl born on 3rd Oct who was MASSIVE compared with Poppy and her Mum said she was off the charts and she was worried because she so was big. Even though Poppy now weighs 10lb 9oz at 12 weeks she still fits in 9lb baby clothes and so of the Boots "Mini Club" clothes.

Bit of a waste of time at GP yesterday because they cannot give P anything extra for her cold, GP said give it a bit longer as maybe she had turned a corner now. Not sure what she based this on though so back to bugger all sleep, although in the evening P had turned in to a crazy baby and was thrashing arms and legs whilst either being held or sat in her chair, if I didn't know better I'd think she had had too many E numbers!

Since their babies have been born has anyone else started receiving lots of presents crap from relatives, despite requesting the opposite?

sorry, long post

BB3 · 30/12/2011 08:45

Yeah - Edie requires full on circus performance for her smiles whereas as Ayse is more free with them! I remember ds slept all day he would feed burp be awake for 20-30 minutes then sleep then do it all again 3 hours later x

BB3 · 30/12/2011 08:53

Poor p Cheshire hope she feels better soon - ds has ear infection, throat infection, croup and eye infection so hole girls are sleeping well he is not and I am soooo tired!!!! Hopefully she will have turned the corner soon xxx

Envy at skinny jeans I think I've put weight on this Xmas x

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 30/12/2011 09:48

Yes snap on the crap presents (ungrateful emoticon) if I didn't return and exchange stuff mhairi would now have around 8 coats and 4 snowsuits that would all fit her in may/June cause for some reason everyone buys 6-9months.
She also got a few dolls for Xmas :-/

strawberrypenguin · 30/12/2011 11:31

William got sooo much for Christmas, helped by the fact he's the first GC on both sides. On the plus side we won't have to buy many 3-6 month clothes for him, we do have bibs coming out our ears though

GroovyRach · 30/12/2011 12:05

I stepped on the scales yesterday and in space of 2 wks had put in 9lbs!!!! Angry think I am due my period so hoping some of it is water weight Blush. I kno I have ate out so much, had few to many take aways and the tins of chocs hasn't helped!! Went to asda yesterday and stocked up on plenty veg!! Made chilli for tea last night (put loads of extra veg in) and just made a big pot of potato and leek soup. Having a quiet new years eve this year just me and my girl so plan to have a yummy Chinese and some nibbles as a last feast then the gym/diet will start on Monday. Goal to loose 2 st by April means at least 7lbs a month which I can do. My mum has agreed to watch S so I can get to the gym. Eeek!! Scared at the thought of it lol Confused

Re gifts, I got loads when she was first born. Ended up with 4 m&s jackets all the same size! Took 3 back and swapped for stuff she did need. I have all the bigger stuff in boxes on top of her wardrobe. She is pretty sorted until she is 1!!

Oh and my girl is 3 months today!!! Smile

CheshireDing · 30/12/2011 13:21

Ahh you see Strawberry and Groovy the clothes would probably be okay - with the exception of my Gran buying P a blatantly blue boys jacket (which would prob be okay if P was older and looked more "girl" rather than "unisex-baby-ish"). It's the pointless tat that is annoying me.

Poor DS BB3 I hope he feels better quickly, that sounds horrid, :(

Edward dolls??? That is part of my problem too Edward in that P got a pair of socks for Christmas which were 6-9 months and said My First Christmas, so when they fit her it will be her 2nd Christmas. .

We do not really have ornaments/stuff hanging on the walls but my Mum has bought 2 evil coasters which said something about gardening (I don't garden) and then a wall hanging thing which said things like "toddler comments, if I hold it it's mine". P is not a toddler and I don't want to hang this bit of junk in her bedroom.

On Tuesday we had to take clothes back to Mothercare (the jacket), BHS (not been in this shop for years but it's rubbish and was hot and smelly) and then hand the socks in to the charity shop because I couldn't tell where they were from. I feel like I now have to resign myself to a lifetime of taking stuff back and swapping it because I can't ask them for the receipt. It's the waste of money I hate because they will have paid full price but I can only get sale price on a swap. I wish they would listen when I keep asking them to put money in her account or spend it on themselves instead.

Am thinking of leaving the country again that'll stop the tat! Grin. Not sure what to do about the toddler wall hanging though, yuck.

Rant, temporarily, over.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 30/12/2011 15:06

What's it made of? If it's something that could smash maybe you'll drop it by mistake?!
Well I've now sorted through all the (usable) 3-6 months clothes for mhairi and think myself and relatives may have gone a bit overboard she has 20 dresses Shock and 5 non dress outfits. So at most she prob only get to wear everything 3-4 times each. Oh but she only has about 3 babygrows for that age lol (I hate buying boring stuff)

I have so much housework to do today both kids are asleep ATM and I just can't get off MN and FB find the motivation!

BB3 · 30/12/2011 17:35

Lol we got some strange toys too - the girls got a pull along duck and snail (they can't even sit up!!!) Although this is from the same aunt that bought ds a 2 year olds dressing gown when he was born 'because she liked it'!! We got some horrendous outfits too one person bought an (ugly) snowsuit for one girl and (equally ugly) trouser outfit for the other?!?

Although strangest present I ever got was after twins were born from client at work - one dress, one cardigan and one pair of tights. For twins. Hmmm.

I'm cream crackered tonight - am very much looking forward to bed time - ds seems to be picking up, still sleeping lots but nowhere near as bad as yesterday! Dh has banned me from getting sick though as I decided to cheer myself up with some sale shopping (although not much of what I bought was in the sale and I spent way too much money on things for myself) but figure I'll be going back to work soon enough so I can pay the credit card bill off then! I best buy dh's shoes he wants later just to placate him a bit!! Blush although I'm very excited about the packages I'm set to receive over the next couple of days xxxx

BB3 · 30/12/2011 17:36

Oh an Edward we are the same - won't need a single outfit but need to buy vests and baby gros xxx

BB3 · 30/12/2011 17:44

Happy three month birthday to dd groovy

strawberry what is it with bibs? We now have 24 bibs (they don't wear bibs yet and wont be weaned for 2.5 more months!!!) anyway!!

I always feel bad complaining but at the same time wonder what people think when they buy things!!! and it's such a hassle taking things back (and remembering to lie and say they've worn it and look lovely in it !)

GroovyRach · 30/12/2011 18:27

One of my aunts gave S a t shirt that says 'I'm the little sister' when she was born. It's cute... But she is my only child!! No ones little sister!! Hmm

BB3 · 30/12/2011 18:46

Hahaha! Brilliant groovy Grin what did you say when you opened it?

GroovyRach · 30/12/2011 19:08

I was just like 'ehhhh.... Thanks! It's like a 9-12 months as well so by then she will have prob forgotten about it Grin

Still laughing at the fact you got one dress.. Do the girls have a day each..? Grin

Fleecy · 30/12/2011 19:18

groovy Grin Maybe she thinks you look so youthful, people will mistake you for sisters?!

PenguinArmy · 30/12/2011 20:21

DD is just wearing stuff she got last Christmas Grin (she's in 9-12 at 21 months). As for Christmas attire, I generally keep them in circulation, so DD was in her reindeer babygro on our road trip in the summer and still in her day outfit in April.

pebble and chesire(? was it). That sleep sounds like DS but with the co-sleeping it really doesn't make much difference unless he's unsettled afterwards and wriggles around. Normally we're both asleep and it takes a fair amount of concentration to really count how many times he fed. I don't we've even had one 4 hour session, let alone a 5 hour one.

I've decided that I am not going to get him weighed. There may be times I'm somewhere with a scale and cave in, but otherwise I don't plan to take him.

Welcome Strawberrypenguin DS has only really started cooing and smiling in the past 2 weeks, he is now 11.5 weeks. Must be hard to separate out the health and normal new baby panic worries.

As for bibs, DS gets through loads as he's just randomly sick all over the place. In fact we're running short...

GroovyRach · 30/12/2011 21:02

fleecy maybe that's what it is!! Grin

PenguinArmy · 30/12/2011 21:08

Just typing that DS is 11.5 weeks got me thinking about DD. At this point with her I had taken my PhD viva, which involved still writing a chapter, sending corrections off for a paper, spending a few weeks re-reading a load of papers for the literature background section as preparation and applying/going to London to sort out our US visa's Shock This time I'm only just coming out of the newborn haze. Luckily the work could be done when I wanted and I was able to take DD in with me (feed, then pass her to other people to coo at while I frantically typed Grin). At least I'm not only a full weeks away from starting a brand new job, although I am applying for one in the next week.

Enjoyed seeing the photos of xmas on fb.

MamaMaiasaura · 30/12/2011 21:32

Sorry I've been away - have had to change name and all previous posts have new name as my dh told my sister my mn name, long story.

Anyway I'm back, Jessica is 10 weeks tomorrow and I can't believe it's gone fast. She's in 3-6 sleep suits and body suits now. Gone abit ott in the sales and got clothes for when she's 12-18 months Blush When I see a bargain I like I get it.

Had ds2's birthday party today as he was 4 on 27th. Lots of fun Smile

Christmas was great, we all spent whole day in pj's. Going to miss dh when he goes back to work on Tuesday. Been having lovely lay ins with Jessica. She's making lots of interesting noises and definately prefers mummy holding her.

Bugs clearing up here at last. Luckily J seems to have averted them mainly, hope bfing helped that.

BB3 · 30/12/2011 22:03

groovy no I took it back and got the vouchers instead (I actually really liked the dress and was planning to swap the cardi for another dress and tights but they didn't have the size!) so random!

I am loving the pics of s on fb!

mm sorry on iPhone can't remember your new full name but glad ds had a good birthday x also glad j is escaping the sickness - all three of mine have it in various forms poor Edie has conjunctivitis and can't open her eye bless her!

BB3 · 30/12/2011 22:07

Ooh penguin good luck with the job application! I weighed the girls today as I'm worried Ayse isn't gaining enough weight - wish I hadn't bothered as she's 7.5 oz lighter at 11.13 compared to e's 12'4.5 last time she was 5 oz smaller. Going to try not to stress about it but I already am!

TallyBear · 30/12/2011 22:11

Hi all, hope everyone had a great Christmas. Welcome aboard Strawberry.

About a month ago I was panicking that Seb was outgrowing his 0-3 clothes, well he's still nearly outgrowing them! Where was the growth spurt? I bought loads (well 8) 3-6 sleepsuits on ebay and have been given a few as well so now got plenty. I'm determined to get him back into proper outfits again soon. I kept putting him in dungarees (can't resist them!) and jumpers and he would just be sick on them so I gave up and he now lives in sleepsuits!

Re: presents, we've also been overrun with bibs (and Seb doesn't even use them - yet, we use muslins; so much more versatile) and scratch mittens for some reasons. But also had loads of rattles, which is great as Seb loves them. The only 'dodgy' things were hand-knitted cardies, some of which are a bit fancy for a boy; and he's only sick on them! We got presents and cards from people we've never or hardly met before, which was so sweet.

Seb laughs and coos quite a bit now, at quite odd moments too! He's also trying to talk and making loads of noises.

BB3 Xmas Smile at the sale shopping. We went shopping today and all I got was HALF PRICE HOTEL CHOCOLAT!! Oh well! Xmas Grin..

Groovy that reminds me....has anyone had their period yet? I'm 9 weeks on but nothing...

PenguinArmy · 30/12/2011 22:16

tally are you still BF, if so it could be months.

My first one wasn't a fluke, second one appeared yesterday.

he doesn't even go longer than 2 hours. I'm cheated I tell you!

BB3 yeah, it's hard avoiding the scales (and you have a same aged baby to compare to) but I need to accept that the whole thing stresses me out and I feel worse afterwards. Even if he stays on the same centile I feel sad. Stupid. He was weighed nearly 4 weeks ago now, plus with all the jabs they have over the next few months, there is a chance for people to see they don't look right.
