I've just ordered my necklace from amberPumpkin.com
For this concerned with choking there is an anklet on the website you could put under baby's sock so they can't get to it?
I have 2 friends who have the necklaces and believe them to work although one of them is the worst PFB I've come across she spends £14 a time on a small tube of pure aloe Vera for her baby's bum as she doesn't want chemicals from sudocream/bepanthen etc Confused

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 17/01/2012 07:30

Any day nxt wk is fine for me.

Engelsmeisje · 17/01/2012 09:05

Mammoth post to catch up!

The next book is Dead Reckoning Tally. I got totally addicted when I read them not last summer but the summer before. I ordered a box set of the first 8 books because I was bored and for a whole week of my summer holiday was lying on the sofa for hours reading. DH gets really annoyed when I'm really into a sequence of books because "reading is boring" (which means he knows how I feel when he plays on the stupid Playstation!).

I like the books better than the TV series Eric. I really like the whole Eric/Bill/Sookie triangle in the series, but some of the TV characters really annoy me. I don't want to watch Lafayette/Arlene/Tara/Tommy...Just give me some more Mr Northman!

I read loads of teenage fiction and started reading Charlie Higson's zombie series when M was born peneleope. I had to stop reading them during night feeds though as I was getting too freaked out by all the gore in the midst of the night!

I love being an English teacher - it gives me the chance to read awesome teenage fiction and claim it's "for work" (and that includes Twilight Grin).

M is also chewing on his hands all the time Fuzzzy. Time to get the teething rattles out? Means that the skin on/round his hands is all scaly and dry. Don't want to put baby oil/moisturizer on it as he's putting them in his mouth. Any ideas what's safe?

mama have been wiping milk off the sofa for weeks Grin. BFing necklace sounds a good idea. Would be better than M pulling my hair.
bilbio Over here they ask you to wait 6months after birth before having a smear. (they're a bit backwards though if you ask me. you don't get invitied for a smear test by your gp until you're 30!). So still another 3 months wait (another thing to look forward to Grin).

fuzzzy I know what you mean about clothes. my aunt gave us a huge padded sleep suit which we took back because we thought it wouldn't fit him until spring (and it would be too warm for him). I reckon it'd fit him now!

cheshire I've realised that I'm going a bit pfb and gaga as I started talking to my running partner about M's bogies! Think I'll stick to MN now! This morning he sneezed and it streamed out of both nostrils - I didn't know it was possible for someone so small to have so much snot.

Last night didn't give M a dream feed after putting him down at 7 as he was so tired (didn't nap in his bed in the afternoon, but in the cot while we were out for a walk in the park). He still only woke once (at 3am) so am wondering whether it's worth dream feeding or not. Have been doing it for a week and he normally wakes up at 4am and then through til 7 or 8.

Going to visit a friend this afternoon who had a little boy 7 weeks after M was born. Was born on 5 December which is when they celebrate Sinterklaas in Holland ? like being born on Christmas day. We got given so many rattles, am going to wrap one up for him ? cheeky?

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 17/01/2012 09:19

Nope not cheeky if u dont tell them I love recycling Grin

DS just left with dh to go to mil on the way out he shouted love you mummy, love you mhairi and blew us both kisses I wanted to cry with pride at my wonderful boy!! Sorry felt the need to share that with someone and don't like to post too much kiddy stuff on FB lol I'm still trying to hide the fact that I'm a baby bore lol

FuzzzyDuck · 17/01/2012 09:21

ed, Mrs will we say next Friday (27th)? Gives me time to get my hair done. I'm ashamed to be out in public with the state of my roots Blush. Hairdresser is back from her holidays this wkend so I'll get her out ASAP! We can sort a time next wk Smile

Not sure what u can put on hand, esp if putting in mouth. S sometimes just chews on the sleeve of her top! On subject on clothes, she gets a fresh vest and sleep suit on at night then fresh vest and clothes on in morning. Usually just some leggings and a top. Sleep suit usually ends up all milky after first morning feed and clothes by end of night are dribble, sick etc so into washing. Iv just put a 3-6 vest/sleep suit on her now to see for size and it's huge!! Guess better big tho than too small where she can't stretch legs properly!! Those of you who have sold clothes on eBay, is it worth it? Iv been putting everything that's too small into a box in wardrobe but I guess there is a few things I wouldn't miss. Had a look on eBay, lots of items listed but not really any bids. Do they sell?

Having a day in the house today then gym tonight. Will get round to putting all ironing away and just spend some time playing with my girl. Oh I love maternity leave Grin

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 17/01/2012 09:40

fuzzy Friday is good for me.
I sell a lot of stuff on eBay, kids and baby stuff does tend to sell especially if designer (mayoral, timberland, converse etc) but people usually watch it till the last minute before placing bids to get cheapest price. I started selling DS's outgrown clothes when I was pregnant and I've made about £400 but money wasn't quite so tight when DS wa small and he was always in designer whereas mhairi only has a few designer things (some of which where bought on eBay)
Only thing I will say is that you tend to end up leaving the money you make in your paypal account and spending in eBay again.

FuzzzyDuck · 17/01/2012 09:49

Hmm, I don't mind leaving it in PayPal as I can spend it again. I know you can pay thro kiddicare with PayPal which is good. Maybe I'll give it a go. That's a great amount you made!!

monkeybubbles · 17/01/2012 10:04

sorry i can't reply to specific people, it's very difficult to scroll up and down on my blackberry!

hair loss - yup, mine and his! mine comes out in clumps in the shower and when i (rarely) brush it and his is coming out with the flakes of his cradle cap :(

teething - yes, i was wondering if this could be early teething! red cheeks, lots of chewing and sometimes grumpy. i have heard of the amber jewellery working, so may look into it. i like the anklet idea (especially as DH probably wouldn't like his little boy wearing a necklace ;)

as for getting him dressed, i must admit that it's the highlight of my day! i love choosing proper little outfits for him and i shop for him more than i've ever shopped for myself! this may just be cuz he's my first, we'll see how things are with the next one!

working on a sleep routine is exhausting, we're doing (or attempting to do) EASY from the baby whisperer, fingers crossed it words better today!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 17/01/2012 10:16

monkey that's exactly like me Ive always loved buying/choosing/dressing them in little outfits it doesn't lessen with the second. Grin

Scheherezade · 17/01/2012 10:28

I just had a brainwave engel - do you have any lansinoh nipple cream? That's safe for babies mouths, and is a wonderful moisturiser, I used to use it on my lips. Worth a try if you have any lying around/free sachets.

scones that is absolutely adorable!!! C has stopped chattering as much, just shouts at me most of the time. But OHMYGOD, today he was copying noises I made!! He was imitating "Noooooooo!" it was so cute. And it only took 6 attempts of rocking, putting down, screaming, picking up, rocking.... to get him down for his mid morning nap.... Hmm can't be too annoyed with him though. He went down before 8pm last night, had dream feed at 11, woke for a feed at 5.30, went back to sleep till 8am. I count that as 12 hours sleep, whether it is really or not.

I felt so so so guilty last night for getting so annoyed with him last Thurs/Fri thinking that the grumping is probably him teething and in pain :( bad mummy. But he's quite a grumpy little baby anyway. He has a really short attention span, he can only do about 15 minutes on his mat/in his chair before he starts screaming, he wants needs constant entertainment, though I am trying really hard to just let him get on with watching things and not play with him!

I've sterilised the teething rings, just put them in the fridge to cool down, but he can't hold them properly yet, so don't know how successful they will be.

I've heard about the baby whisperer book. Keep forgetting to buy it, but our method seems to be working I'd say 6-7/10 times. He was shattered last night so just went flat out straight away.

Scheherezade · 17/01/2012 10:29

I'm not selling baby stuff yet, in case we need them in the future Grin

I have loooooooads of clothes though that I need to sell. It's all piled up in the dining room. I really used to buy so much shite, again back when money wasn't so tight!

MrsHende · 17/01/2012 10:43

Friday 27th suits me too - great!

With clothes, I prefer to have L in a babygro all the time, for ease and I think it looks so much more comfy! DH likes putting her in wee outfits though so she gets more dressed up when he's in charge - or when we're seeing someone who's given her an outfit! It's scary how quickly they grow isn't it!

Right, on to today's to do list! I have no idea how I fitted in working full time (and dreading the thought of going back...!).

FuzzzyDuck · 17/01/2012 11:08

Yeah I do love dressing her up! But I'm not a huge fan of dresses. They end up round her neck as she is such a wriggler Grin

Those who ff or express and feed in bottle, how much do u give? S has 5oz every 2hrs (2 1/2 hrs at push) but I'm thinkin she needs another oz to help her go a bit longer. I asked HV when I had her weighed a few wks back but she told me 6oz a time is far to much!! She weighs around 12lbs and will be 16 wks this fri. Just a faf feeding her every 2hrs. I'm hoping if she had a bit more, she could go a bit longer...

Scheherezade · 17/01/2012 11:28

When C was 8 weeks and I was expressing he would have 8oz every 3 hours! Just try giving her more, if she wants it. I'd give her the normal amount, then wind/wait a bit, and try the rest. Some babies are just hungry!

FuzzzyDuck · 17/01/2012 11:42

Thanks sch I'll try offer 6oz each time and try to wait at least 2 1/2 hrs. Sure she won't refuse!! She was only on 9th centile at birth and has stuck to it with each weigh in so I kno she isn't loosing, and is consistent. HV just looked at me like I was crazy for wanting to give her so much!!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 17/01/2012 12:46

I kept DS's stuff till I found out mhairi was a girl. At that point I thought we'd stop @ 2 kids but now I'm not so sure my heart wants more my head says don't be stupid! Dh is open to the idea and started talking about age gaps between M and the next :-S

Scheherezade · 17/01/2012 12:46

I hate hearing when people have rubbish hv's, I'm really lucky to have a good one.

C just went to sleep after being put down awake in his cot!! This is MAJOR progress.

Whilst waiting for him to drop off I read through the old ante natal thread :) didnt realise what a scary birth you had fuzzy ! Also, having a child has made me lose my sense of humour I think.... On reflection I'm sorry for all my current posts being tales of misery and woe Grin

Scheherezade · 17/01/2012 12:49

Plus, what's the worst that can happen fuzzy - she decides she doesn't want the rest, or has it and sicks up the extra so you know not to bother in future....!

FuzzzyDuck · 17/01/2012 13:08

I never did post my birth story but it was awful!! Hasn't put me off more in the future thankfully but at the time it was a terrible experience! In short, had been on trace for low movement, then they decided on induction (I refused) but my contractions started at 6pm that night anyway. Admitted the next morning at 7am, given a few sweeps to help speed up while they waited for a bed in delivery suite. Finally down at 12pm where I was put on drip. Took 11(!) attempts to get drip into my arm. I looked a mess! 3 attempts to break waters as no fluid was coming out so they didn't know if it had worked each time. Then her heart was slowing right down after each contraction do they had to attach clamp to her head (while she was still inside!, has wee scar on her head now from it) which they weren't happy with the readings. Drip got turned up higher and I wasn't allowed anymore dimorphen as they thought that was what was causing dip in heart so I was told epidural or nothing. I held off for another 30 mins by which point I was begging for it! Took an hr to get an anesthetist to administer it and then another 20 mins till they could get it in as contractions were lasting 2 and 1/2 mins each and coming every 30 seconds!! I honestly thought I was dying Blush. Finally was pain free at 7.50pm by which point they told me I was 10cm and just to start pushing as her heart was getting slower and slower and they wanted her out now! So I started pushing and they sounded the buzzer and within seconds I had about 10 people round me with forceps being ripped open. She was finally born with only 4 pushes at 8.15pm. My mum was in tears cos in the end it turned into a proper emergency but she was ok thankfully. Think she wanted a dramatic entry into the world, little monkey!!!!

TallyBear · 17/01/2012 13:41

Fuzzy Seb has 180ml (6oz) 5 times a day. The time in between varies from 2 hours to 4 hours and 12 hours for the past two nights (woo hoo!). He is consistently on the 9th centile. We went up from 5oz about a week ago, as he still seemed to be hungry at the end of a feed, but reduced from 6 to 5 times a day. All babies are different though.

Scheherezade · 17/01/2012 15:27

Ed- I've tried to buy unisex stuff (I love soft white babygrows!) So if a girl comes along we can reuse. I hate pink anyway so I'm sure we can use his cardis and other stuff too.

That's crazy fuzzy, must have been hard to stay calm with all that.

Scheherezade · 17/01/2012 20:22

Ooh has everyone got a life disappeared?!

Well, thats two nights C has gone down at 7.30 :) will dream feed again at 11, and hope he goes through again! He did 8-8 yesterday! (With dream feed and woke at 5.30 but went straight back to sleep, think it was more because it was cold in our room, as his hands were freezing).

TallyBear · 17/01/2012 21:34

I really must start refreshing the page in between reading and posting!!

Fuzzzy that sounds fairly similar to my birth story (refused induction, sweeps, drip, waters broken, heart slowing on contractions, head clamp, epidural, forceps) except yours is a bit more dramatic!

Two nights in a row Seb has been 12 hours between feeds! Here's hoping for three...(too much to ask?!)

Penelope1980 · 17/01/2012 23:21

I am trying to get unisex stuff too, but it's tricky - Amotai suits blue as well. I'd put a girl in blue though, so if the next one is a dd she may be wearing a lot of it!

I just went for A's check up and he weighs 15.6 lbs now, at 14 weeks. He is certainly turning into the "bonny" baby the midwife predicted!

Penelope1980 · 17/01/2012 23:27

fuzzy your birth story sounds traumatic! I don't think I posted mine either - it was crazy fast, 4.5 hrs between first contraction and birth, and they used forceps as his heart rate was dropping. I lost a lot of blood and had to go to theatre as soon as he was born for stiching up (they thought I had 3rd degree tear, lucky I didn't) so didn't get to meet my baby for a few hours. I asked for an epidural as soon as I got to hospital but they said no as I had progressed too far. My tail bone got knocked quite badly and is still sore if I sit for too long, but other than that have managed to block out the memories of the pain!
