Oh good grief Sheh - you poor things Sad hang in there.

Scheherezade · 16/01/2012 08:03

I obviously jinxed myself earlier didn't I! Dp got him off at 2.30, he woke up again at 7 so I fed, then he was fast asleep.... And woke up as soon as I put him down (his main sleeping problem). So I gave up and came downstairs. He's on his mat and I'm having a cuppa before tackling the shite hole (language apologies!) That is our bedroom.......

cheekydino · 16/01/2012 09:35

God this thread is hard to keep up with!
Scheh - your MIL sounds v jealous. Ignore ignore!
We've just had a v similar week - E woke up every night for 5 nights having slept from 8 til 7 for 5 or 6 weeks. We had a hideous night on friday where she woke at 2, fed then screamed for two hours with wind. The last two nights she is back to sleeping 8 til 7. Bizarre. I think she was struggling with wind as opposed to waking hungry so the last two nights I have winded her so vigorously she must have wondered what I was doing! It started the day I tried her on a bottle for the first time since she was 4 weeks (and refused it!) so I think it upset her tummy even though it was only a half feed of expressed milk.

Mondays are rubbish aren't they?! I am treating myself to breakfast in Starbucks after the nursery run Blush. New year economising not going too well so far.

MrsP81 · 16/01/2012 09:35

Morning all. I've completely lost track of this thread again. Blush

We had a similarly rubbish night scheh. I fed A at 10.30 and we then had pretty much constant crying until 3am Sad It was horrible, I have no idea what was wrong. Also I would be fuming mad if my MIL did what yours did!

Judging by today's behaviour so far I think it's going to be a long day!

Hope you're getting better bb3.

I also remember the fuzzy duck drinking game! Those were the days.....

Engelsmeisje · 16/01/2012 10:41

Shock at your MIL scheh!
Sorry to hear about mastitis BB3 and your SIL sassy.
Welcome back mama.
No sign of AF here Eric.

Downloaded True Blood S4 at beginning of ML and only just getting round to watching it now. The 4th book is my absolute fave (can't remember who was telling me S4 was good!).

We're heading to the UK for a long weekend mama and are hoping to use carry cot for M to sleep in. However, that's still a month away and maybe he won't fit! Have the same issue with travel cot - it's okay for DH as he's super tall so will be able to reach M easily in travel cot, but I'm a short arse! However, if it was a choice between using CP cot and own travel cot, I'd go with the travel cot if you're worried about the quality of theirs. Or you could take yours anyway and then see what it's like there.

Have only been reading during the weekend...moves so fast!

Still waiting for M's cold to clear - bogies galore and he's snorting like a little pig because his nose is still blocked.

A new week! Am starting with a smile. Determined to get out more and sort out my shit hole of a house - have developed a bit of cabin fever over the last month.

Signed up for a 10k in May and was out pounding the pavements yesterday. I WILL get fit!

Have a lovely day everyone.

CheshireDing · 16/01/2012 11:29

Funky TBH I had never heard of BLW until I started reading a book DH bought and (so far) I am a complete convert. It seems to make so much sense ? although I might reserve judgement a bit until I have actually tried it and see whether P is interested. She is stuffing things in her mouth now though so we will see.

Mama I will have a look at the BLW links thanks and do as you and Jnce have and put cutlery out for P to handle too.

Pebble the boob blister sounds horrid :(

Scheh I think you need to hide the formula so she cannot make it up next time and stick her nose in, cheeky mare. Is she older? I wonder this because it seems they did not really do bf in the "old days" from what I have heard. A similar thing happened to our friend, she went out for the afternoon, left baby with MIL and said before she went out "call me if he is hungry and I will come back but if there is an emergency there is formula". MIL didn't ring her but fed him a ridiculous amount of formula and he threw up everything. Well done being back to exclusive bf. I can tell that P is just boob sucking sometimes but then a couple of days later I end up with a massive boob, so she obviously needed the extra milk she was working for!

Mama is it worth getting the Space Saver cot that was in Kiddicare for your holiday? I think it was about £50 (then you could re-sell it on ebay).

Cheeky very Envy of your Starbucks

Engels we have some impressive bogies too ? if such a thing exists :)

monkeybubbles · 16/01/2012 11:33

hi all,
i've disappeared for a while, but i'm back and attempting to catch up on the thread!

ethan is doing well, we're working on sleep! he naps 3 times a day, but becomes overtired and has to be rocked to sleep before he'll go down in his cot. he was sleeping well at night but has regressed and now wakes at around 2:30am every night for a feed and then is up around 5 chatting away!

hope you and your babies are all doing well...catching up now!

Jnice · 16/01/2012 11:52

Wow Eng - impressed at you signing up to do the 10k. We have a 'diva' run here in March that is 8k which I will probably sign up for. It's women only. I am on week 3 of the couch to 5k program so a long way to go.

Scheherezade · 16/01/2012 12:11

Wow at all you ladies doing runs etc, I feel pleased with myself if I manage to get the dog out once a week

Sorry to say it, but I'm so so glad we're not the only ones struggling with sleep! It helps to know my baby's not a monster Grin

Very jealous of Starbucks, I just made porridge with some very suspect blueberries.....

Did the bedroom! Only another 9 rooms to go...... :(

Scheherezade · 16/01/2012 12:18

Is anyone else a bit....lazy when it comes to dressing babies? C always gets a change if clothes dirty or not fresh, but he lives in sleepsuits apart from when dp got him. If we go out, rather than faffing with the pramsuits I spent so much on he just gets lots of warm blankets piled on !

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 16/01/2012 12:41

Haha dressing baby is the only thing I'm not lazy with! (the ironing pile I only got halfway through LAST WEEK is still lying in my living room with iron and ironing board also still out an entire house is a pigsty! Blush must learn to do housework!!!
I was getting into a really good routine with it then Christmas happened and I've never gotten into it! Any tips to keep on top of it?
I am lazy with the pram suits though! They are a PITA to get on and off and M hates them too! She has one that buttons all the way down the legs but legs are really narrow! Another that only zips o the crotch so need to stuff legs down, and a third with really narrow arms!!
I just put a coat on and wrap a blanket round legs under cosytoes.

bilblio · 16/01/2012 13:28

Definitely lazy about clothes here. He wears sleeps suits unless we go properly out. Tesco's & school don't count, I just slip him a cardie on if he'll be in the sling, fleecy pram suit if not. Clothes get changed when he dirties them, so usually once a day. If I realise we're well into the 2nd day with an outfit I'll change him, and he wears the same things for bed.

I only bath him about every 2 or 3 days too. I should do it more as he LOVES them, but he sleeps so much it seems hard to fit them in. Hmm

Last night he fell asleep at about 8 after a feed. I left him on the sofa with me as he normally feeds/naps loads in the evening, but I had to wake him at 11 to change and feed him, then wake him again at 8:30 this morning so we could get DD to school! I've not been trying to get him into any routine as DD worked one out herself, but we've had a few nights of him sleeping through now so I might see if I can get a routine going.

Funky I'm now also thinking of the drinking game and calling you Duzzy in my head. :o

I've spent all morning on the phone to insurance companies, garages etc. While Seth laid on the settee next to me chattering away. I've got the insurance to up their offer on the car, but my Dad says to push them a bit further. I've got insurance quotes for 3 cars I've been looking at, which has ruled out 2 cars and I've arranged a test drive on the 3rd car for tomorrow... it's red! :o
I've still got to arrange to get the stereo out of my old car, and send off all the documents.
The house insurance claim has been a breeze, but I'm losing the will to live with the car insurance!

TallyBear · 16/01/2012 14:50

Sch up until recently I was being lazy and seb was living in sleepsuits only changing when necessary but now I'm using bibs again and have moved to outfit during the day and sleepsuit at night. Except that I only have two pairs of trousers as one (0-3 mo) is still too big even though he is in 3-6 mo sleepsuits! It does mean being careful with the socks as he has a tendency to put them in his nappy during a change so can be a bit of a faff, although I only take them off now if it's poo!

Bilbio worth persevering; a friend of mine had his car stolen, luckily he was friends with the guy who edited the guide insurance companies use to 'cost' cars and got him to write a personal letter - it still took some persuading though.

Ed ironing? What's that?!

Had a shock this morning; Seb slept through til 7! He had his last feed at 7pm and prob got to sleep about 8-8:30. I'm sure it's a fluke as a couple of nights last week he woke at 5am and the next he woke at 12:30! He's a bit all over the place with night feeds but he never normally wakes more than twice, which is quite good. I know not as good as some but we can't really complain.

Scheherezade · 16/01/2012 15:54

Tally, do you not dream feed? I'm wondering whether to bother now, I think it only woke him up...

C cries in his cot, on me, in chair, on mat. Thw only place he'll sleep is in his pram, in the kitchen with the radio on! He wakes up when the music stops so I'm having to quickly change station when the talking starts....

MrsHende · 16/01/2012 16:14

L is on her FIFTH outfit/babygro of the day!!!!!! Huggies are RUBBISH!

bilblio · 16/01/2012 16:22

What size nappies are you using MrsH? I usually find when we get lots of leaks it's down to the wrong size nappy. Although different makes suit different shaped babies. Huggies & Tesco's were great with DD, Pampers were useless. Tesco's are rubbish with Seth, haven't tried Huggies or Pampers, we use Aldi nappies now.

Has anyone else started getting a 3 month hair loss? I had the same with DD, my hair is normally very thick, ridiculously so when pregnant, but it went very, very thin at 3 months with DD. I was washing my hair this morning and I had to clear the plughole twice, it was coming out in handfuls. Then more came out again when I put serum on. It was scary last time, but at least this time I know it will grow back.

TallyBear · 16/01/2012 17:18

biblio do you mean our hair loss? Does that happen? Seb's started losing his hair a bit. It's coming out with his cradle cap scabs. [yucky emocion].

We use nappies too now after the mn trial. They are really good and very reasonable price. Huggies are useless and the size 2 pampers have been leaking poo on us. They also smell really strongly when he pees [another yucky emocion].

sch no I'm bottle feeding now and I don't think you can do that. I've thought about waking him up for a feed before we go to bed. Forgot to say before, I would be really mad if my mil did that. Your baby your rules. Could your dh have a word with her?

engles it was me who mentioned true blood. S4 really good but quite different from the book. They all are. Still good though. Eric-yummmm!

TallyBear · 16/01/2012 17:20

Oops: aldi nappies Grin. We've been using nappies the whole time!!!!

BB3 · 16/01/2012 17:44

Funky I'm campaigning for you to change your name again to fuzzyduck! Pretty please Grin

No period for me either - with ds (exclusively bf'd) I had it after 4 weeks bit nothing so far although I do get monthly cramping just no bleed.

Scheh (I'm not condoning what she is doing at all but...) is there a chance mil is pushing formula so she can be more involved herself- don't get me wrong I'd be furious too at the not asking part!

Sassy - how's your sil?

Got the girls passport photos done today. I still think it's ridiculous that they have to have their own passports! Anyway both pictures are hideous but they'll do! Ds' is bad too (not that he looks anything like his picture now!!). Going to try and have a sorting week this week and get all the paperwork that's been building up done and dusted including dh's tax return! Confused

Scheherezade · 16/01/2012 17:48

It's official, I can't cook stew. Yuck at vegetables floating around in Brown water.

bilblio · 16/01/2012 18:02

BB3 Good luck with the paperwork we can keep spurring each other on. I'll join your campaign for funky to name change too :)

Tally hair loss for us :( Basically your hair goes through 3 stages, growth, dormant then falling out. When you're pregnant your body is full of growth hormones, so your hair doesn't fall out, and tends to get thicker than normal. Once the pregnancy hormones are gone it starts to fall out again. Some people notice it more than others. I have very thick hair so can afford to lose a lot. With DD it was very noticeable at 3 months, (to me, no-one else noticed) but it was literally coming out in handfuls and it seems I'll have the same this time too.

Engelsmeisje · 16/01/2012 18:18

Ditto on the hair. DH has had to pick strands of my hair out of his dinner twice this week. Hmm

We found Huggies rubbish, but then I find that whenever I start a different size and/or brand it takes me a while to get used to them. We had a pack of Huggies newborn in the beginning and really didn't get on with them. Just using up the random German nappies that were in the "nappy cake" one of my friends made me now. I reckon by the time we're done with our "stock" we might be on size 4!

tally Have just got the most recent Sookie Stackhouse on my Kindle, though may have to re-read all of the others before I start it!

Ditto what tally said about ironing (I've told DH that I don't need anything ironed so I'm on strike. If he needs something done he can do it himself!)

I know what you mean about passports BB3. M had his photo done at 4 weeks old and it already looks nothing ike him. Made me laugh that it said at the bottom of the ID card "unable to sign"!

Have been for a walk around the park with DH and the pram this afternoon in the sunshine and arrnaged to go running tomorrow night with my running buddy. Am feeling motivated!

Envy at Starbucks. Always our treat when we're walking round Bluewater or if I happen to be in A*dam.

cheekydino · 16/01/2012 19:02

I'm losing my hair too! All over the place. And it comes out in clumps when dd pulls it.
Sorry to make you all Envy with the starbucks! It is a 5 minute walk from our house and I have a terrible addiction. We are so well known in there that they gave us a Christmas card Blush. I'm sure my latte addiction has something to do with the pot belly I cannot shift. I cannot believe so many of you are managing to fit in exercise. Is there an 'impressed and mildly shamed' emoticon Grin?

emmazed · 16/01/2012 19:04

thanks for the reminder - add getting a passport to the 'to do list'

J has just got a new trick. he half rolls on his side and twists back so that he can look behind him. he thinks it is hilarious! i suppose if all you have previously done is look above/in front of you then looking behind is exciting!

i am with you on the ironing camp - we just wear crumpled clothes. my mil looked shocked when i said i didn't iron. i just said that she hadn't noticed our clothes are crumpled so it clearly doesn't matter!

J wears a sleepsuit (with long sleeved vest so he doesn't get cold arms) at night, and i change him into clothes in the morning. the sleepsuit will be reused for a couple of nights if it isn't dirty, and his trousers usually last a few days. he is sick/dribbles all over his top so that never lasts more than a day. i know it doesn't matter, but i like having getting him dressed as one of our activities and we have SO many clothes for 3-6 months that i feel he has to wear them a few times each.

bb3 hope you are feeling better, and sch shocked at your mil, hope she was doing it just so that she could feel more involved

TallyBear · 16/01/2012 19:32

Operation Exploding Poo Clean-up has just finished!! Right up the back! Go Seb Grin

BB3 Still no period for me and I'm ffing.

Sch try this one www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/beef-recipes/jools-s-favourite-beef-stew. I made a load to stock up the freezer when I was pg and it's gorgeous. I'm no cook but even I can do this. It does need more liquid than the recipe though and I think next time (I've got the ingredients on Tescos order tonight) I will cut the beef bigger and the veg smaller.

Engles What's most recent one? I think the last one I have is Dead in the Family.

Popped to Aldi today to get some more nappies. The size 2 were getting a bit small so I went for the size 3 (size 2 go up to 13lb and size 3 start from 9lb: Seb is just over 12lb). When I unpacked them they are huge!! Not tried one yet so we will see.
