Lol,Giddy-you are funny.
You'll be pleased to know Oscar only has one little friend(his age)at the mo,and he's a boy!
He has also only just gone to sleep. There was so much screaming here tonight,I'm surprised the neighbours haven't called social services, lol!
I'm sure it's teething, but can't understand why he's not screaming during the day in that's the case. It's my FIL's birthday tomorrow and we're treting him to a meal out.Mum is having ds for the first time overnight,so that should be interesting. She's given me strict instructions to bring the Calpol with me.
By the way...the teething gel we're using is Calgel.Don't know if it's any good but ds loves it.Have also found he loves smoothies.I bought a couple of those "innocent" smoothies and he drinks it out of his Doidy cup(with me helping!).

Cratchit-Our highchair is also a cheap one, although I didn't pay for it as it was a pressie for ds when he was born. We've got the chicco happy snack chair which has a handy large basket under the seat.Great for putting toys in or even better for ds to throw his biscuit in.

Mrs W-Glad work is getting better and glad your boob is too.
My working week will also finish on a Weds when I go back and then a Tuesday the following week as I'm only going to be working Mon,Tues and every other Weds.We are still in the dark ages where I work,so I won't have access to a pc til I get home which is a pain. They were due to install one just before I left in April and it still hasn't been done. They spend thousands on security and scrimp on everything else.

I'm off to bed now-Dh is snoring away here while I'm typing, bless him.

Bubbaloo · 12/01/2006 23:15

Hi Mcmudda-That photo is gorgeous. All the junie's are such a scrummy bunch with big smiles.

Skyler · 13/01/2006 06:33

Hello all
Have read all the posts and loved them and promptly forgotten everything....
We use teething powders from Boots. Work better than gels IMO.
DD2 only woke up twice last night. So exciting.
Happy belated birthday to the Dh's. Bangers and mash would be my dh's birthday meal of choice. Esp with baked beans. I don't know why I bother cooking anything for him really.
It is our 5th wedding anniversary today and dh booked the day off work ages ago and I had completely forgotten and so woke up to a shock that he was late for work, followed by a lovely surprise that he wasn't going. He knew I had forgotten and found it very funny. He is off on Monday too. Yay.
Trib - sorry forgot about the wheat thing. What a difficult time for you. Take care.
Amyjade - Thinking of you a lot at the mo too.
EYM - Hope you are OK
Welshie, Lippy, KVG....etc - Where are you?
Bubb - Horrid on the nightwaking. I am more used to it and think it is much worse to have a shock waking/refusal to sleep as it throws you out hugely.
Mama3 - What a houseful. Glad you are getting some help with dd3. Tell dh that if he takes the baby you might make him that cup of tea...and that is the kindest thing I can say about that . The dd's are almost thrown at dh when he walks through the door some days lol.
Have to go. DH wants to have a bath and I want a shower first....

Bubbaloo · 13/01/2006 07:48

Happy Anniversary Skyler.

sfxmum · 13/01/2006 10:15

hello all good morning

dd woke up almost every hr since about 11pm, i feel fine but am guessing it will not last.i thibk a lot of this waking up is mostly developmental as well as teething, they do feel it more at night because there are less distractions.in one of my books it says that due to the fast development over the first year babies can be restless sort of eager to practice new skills.
it also says that the only babies who sleep through the night are in other peoples or in books. i take comfort from that

we have been using Calgel which she seems to like the taste of, i tried it and it just sort of numbs the area

skyler happy anniversary
just reminded me that last year we had planned on a weekend at the hotel where we had our reception, but we closed on the flat and instead spent the weekend at ikea

muma3 · 13/01/2006 11:43

well , dd3 has been driving me totally mad ,. demanding is an understatment. she never wants to be put down and has no patience whatsoever. her teeth are giving her so much trouble at the moment she doesnt even want her bottles. cry, cry , cry , the pair of us . on the bright side she has learned that if she puts her head on the side she can see a lot more , which im finding very amusing, she is constantly trying to look round corners
me and dp are having a tiff at the mo which doesnt help either .
got all three dd at home as they are all poorly . argggghhhhhhhh
im fine really just run down
hope all you other mummies are having better day then me
hugs xx

tribpot · 13/01/2006 19:00

muma3, sounds like you are having a very rough time! I love your oldest girl's pic, btw, v glam in an appropriate (i.e. not like one of those kids entered in a beauty pageant!) type of way. Hope you are soon feeling better.

sfx, love the comment. How very true. A pregnant friend emailed me last week to inform me she had heard the Baby Whisperer book was guaranteed to get your baby sleeping through from 12 weeks. Ho ho ho.

Sky - happy anniversary!

Bubbs, here's hoping Oscar behaves himself tonight...

Btw, breastfeeding and wine drinking - I discovered yesterday in general research about dh's medications that you can take morphine and breastfeed so rest assured a glass or two of a cheeky little sauvignon should be absolutely fine.

So far we are doing well here, dh has halved his dose and seems to be coping for now. I am being much more vigilant about him taking his other meds exactly as ordered so that he gets the support the doc thinks he is getting. My work have been fantastic - my boss' instant response was "your domestic situation comes first and we'll have to work around that" ('er, what?' Being my response to that - at least to myself).

First class of baby signing today, have discovered that dh in typical bloke fashion can't manage to sign and sing simultaneously! So far so good though.

Cratchit · 13/01/2006 23:55

Hi all. Good to see you too Yorkie, if I'm allowed to call you that.

Sorry thigns are so tough KVG, I get a little, only a little mind, comfort knowing that when DS is doing similar there are others pacing the floors all over the country, and partic all the Junies from here. Mine's all over the shop at the mo and horribly grumpy and very clingy, which is sweet for all of ten seconds and then quite difficult. I'm not getting anything at all done ever, barely managing my bath in the ams as he cries the second I leave him. Hoping he's notpoorly and it'll stop soon. Along with all the sick. Then maybe I might get to tackl napping on my lap and only ever, still sleeping in the buggy or on the dreaded boobie. He'll still be there when he's a teenager if I'mnot careful.

KVG I've been meaning to ask your advice about porridge since you posted those amazing recipes. I've got them on my hard disc! Beginning to think DS is reacting to something dairy, wheat gluten blah. So am keen to try porridge oats as I gather they have a bit less gluten maybe. Can I just put my whizzesd up dry oats into pear puree or similar and leav eit at that. Or do I need to add milk/water and cook, micro or whatever?

Now can I share and celebrate with you all. It's nearly midnight and yes, it's true I have nearly done my tax return! I've done enough so that it's no longer frightening and it will undoubteldy be finishable this weekend. Hip hip dullardly booringly hooray! What has my life come to!

Sorry for whittering on. Night all. x

Cratchit · 14/01/2006 00:00

Trib Forgot to say. Wow to your boss, cannot believe that at all. V jealous of sing and sign, dying to do it and have not got my stupid useless lazy arse in gear. Did a one off taster singing only class last year at toddler gorup and DS LOVED it. Have signing book and dh and I are doing it. Though DH is trying to do a gazillion signs, which I'm sure will confuse the poor little mite. V interested to hear about the morphine. Do you know where I can get some, sure the other Junies will be keen too, now that really just might actually kill the pain of months of sleep depriviation.

Skyler · 14/01/2006 08:29

Happy Birthday EYM!!!!!!!
Have a fabulous day!!!!!!
Cratchit - you were up late, blimey. Glad your tax return is looking a little more manageable.
KVG - Sorry you are still having sleep troubles. Dare I say it but I think we have turned a little corner as dd2 has only been up twice between 7 and 7 for the past three nights at midnight and then around 3 am. This is bliss for me.
Trib - Your boss sounds fab. Glad you are all coping so far. Wishing you luck. Totally on a different scale but my dstepdad is on lots of meds for his diabetes, stroke complications and arthritis (sp?) and every time they change his meds it is such hard work for him and my dmum. The problem is the side effects of the longterm use... anyway he is a wonderful upbeat man who never complains (except to my Mum). I think you are a saint dealing with everything at the mo.
Giddy - I haven't said a fantastic congratulations on the non smoking. You are doing brilliantly. I think the key is to look at what you are gaining ie good health, more money, nice smelling clothes etc rather than thinking you have given something up. I used to smoke too. Typical student. Gave up 5.5 years ago now and like Bubb hate it now ....unless I am drinking.
Right dd1 and dh have just returned from storytime so I have to dash. Have good days all.

Bubbaloo · 14/01/2006 09:16

EYM-Happy Birthday.Have a fantastic day.

Cratchit-Well done on the tax returns!

We've had a lovely quiet night last night. We took my FIL out for a nice birthday meal and Oscar stayed overnight at my parents for the first time.
Spoke to mum just now and apparently he was fine til about 10pm,when he woke up screaming and then again at 3am.Didn't get up til 8.30 this morning-seems so strange not having him here.Normally I'm dressed by about 7am but I'm sitting here still in my pj's.

mandymac · 14/01/2006 09:28

Happy Birthday EYM.

Hope you have a fantastic day!

sfxmum · 14/01/2006 09:35

good morning all

eym - Happy Birthday have a wonderful day

cratchit - following your tax return saga, just like dh plenty of hair pulling and ever more creative avoidance tactics well done

skyler - glad dd seems back to old routine, mine keeps me guessing as to how much sleep i will be getting each night - will it be wake up every hr or twice till dawn -

still she has been a lot of fun very lively and keen on exploring everything.
posted some pics on june site, went a bit mad, sorry.

mumma3 - i guess its not easy with 3, and babies are demanding anyway, particularly now when they start showing signs of separation anxiety, its normal it will pass but it does take a lot of energy out of us.hope it gets better and dp starts helping.

hope you all have a nice day, not sure what i am going to do today, dh seems under the weather and we all now what thats like, bless

Wow giddy I am tired just reading about your day Well done on all your achievements. We have the V-Tech walker for ds (not one of those they sit in, one they can push along when old enough), he seems to like it and we deliberately haven't put the batteries in yet! Hope your dh will be released soon, you have a lot to cope with on your own.

EYM - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, hope you've had a fab day. Your older boys are v cute by the way, if my little sister were not completely mad I would be asking for an introduction

sfx - fingers crossed for your sleep.

Cratchit - I only have one tried-and-tested strategy for dealing with tax returns. It is called "a bottle of red wine". And bear in mind until recently I had at least two to do per year, i.e. one for Sweden and one for UK. (One year I had the triple, Sweden, Netherlands and UK). Imagine my horror when I had two to do whilst pregnant. Clearly a small amount of wine was necessary but it was still a struggle. Now the UK Revenue have announced they no longer want tax returns from me as I am back on the pay roll, yippee!

I'm afraid that morphine is not available to the general public, although I am startled at how easily pharmacies will hand stuff over to me because I go in and claim to be dh's wife! No id or anything. My personal pain medication is limited to the very occasional paracetomol and above-mentioned wine

I'd try not to stress about ds' sleeping if I were you, although I can understand it must be horrifically frustrating when you're trying to get stuff done. Unfortunately I think you may need to get through separation anxiety now before you reach the end of this particular journey. My ds sleeps heaps better at night in bed with me than on his own (I of course get no sleep whatsoever), I see a slippery slope developing.

Re: oats - yes, they do contain gluten but not wheat (obviously!). My dh has no problem with "getting his oats" (I put that joke in for giddy's benefit!) so his intolerance is clearly to a wheat protein other than gluten. I've obviously missed something somewhere along the line because I have to track down KVG's recipes, what is up with your ds? Organix do various breakfast cereals, I'm sure some of which are gluten free although I've never looked as we still haven't got past the occasional puree stage. Cornflakes would be my first suggestion.

Bubb - glad Oscar has enjoyed his night away (apart from the screaming!)

Sky - don't think sainthood is on the cards unless the job description includes swearing, cursing the world and generally feeling regularly cr*p about one's lot in life! Actually my main strategy for coping is to let the housework reach almost (but not quite) the levels seen on "How Clean Is Your House", dreading ds being mobile and standards having to rise in that department too. Your dstepdad's situation sounds very similar to ours (minus small child(ren) admittedly.

dh has done really well with his meds again today, he's finding it tougher going but we are persevering. We went (briefly) to visit a friend of mine, one of the girls I lived with at uni. She found herself unexpectedly pregnant last year after a brief relationship and is due at the start of April. Knowing she was still rather in denial about the whole thing I was deliberately trying to make conversation which didn't involve babies or pregnancy or anything like that, all rather strange! Ds behaved very well in order to demonstrate to her that babies are not complete monsters (wish he would save some of that behaviour for us!)

tribpot · 14/01/2006 19:39

Oh, I should say to further sing the praises of ds, we were in the hospital for another 3-hour stint on Wednesday (for dh's pain clinic) and he behaved impeccably throughout, he really is so good. It is a day surgery unit where we are seen (pain specialists being anaesthetists by trade) and there were some very, very poorly people indeed in there, I only hope the sight of ds' happy little face did them some good.

Art · 14/01/2006 21:40

Hi everyone - just joined this thread as dd born June. Not sure I should be here tho', dd cut 1st tooth and rolled over for 1st time today, but definitely nowhere near being mobile! Will sit for 2 seconds before nosediving forward or plunging sideways and has only just got the hang of reaching out for things.

MCmudda - I just think myself lucky that another month goes by when I can safely leave dd and pop out of the room knowing she will still be in exactly the same place when I come back. Ds (4)also very thankful that he can still get away with playing with his lego/playmobil all over the floor right next to her. Once she gets going small toys will be banished to the bedroom!

katzg · 14/01/2006 21:54

evening all

well i've tried to catch up and i apologise if i've missed anything!!

muma3 - we use ashton and parsons teething powders and i'm certain they work, DD1 use to ask for them when she was teething (and old enough to talk!)

MrsW - nope Scraggy couldn't make it but she's doing well with her DD, no baby on the way though! she's just moved house and settling into all the extra space!

EYM - Happy Birthday

well i've started a hunt for a new pushchair, with DH's blessing i really want a lightwieght folds to nothing able to be rear facing pushchair. but my hunt is proving hard, the best one i've found so far is a loola pram but this has 2 handles and i would prefer a bar to push, they're easy one handed - anyone got a great pram that fits my description?
