Hi all, thanks for the reassurance. I wasn't really worried, just very surprised that any nine month old would be able to understand a question about where something was.

Am chuffed and excited about ds every day. Latest thing is kissing - so cute when his little face reaches up when you give him a goodnight kiss. Kisses themselves are a bit disgustingly dribbly but still very lovely.

On sleep, I still can't believe how lucky we are at the moment - still getting 7 - 7. That said, he woke a couple of times in the night last night and I think that we may be coming up to another growth spurt. I've read a few threads about sleep deteriorating at around nine months. Not quite sure how much more growing there can be in ds, though, when he had his eight month appointment he was 78 cm amd 26 pounds .

Uki · 25/02/2006 09:54

Hi Everyone
How are we all????
Hi KVG thanks for remembering me, i do feel guilty that i don't pop on much at all lately, but there is definately less time now Cooper is moving about and wanting to play.
Definately no walking to report
but he does a commando style crawl with great gusto, i think it's soo cute i'll miss it when he starts crawling proper. No teeth yet either
We have lots of fun and giggles playing up in the air type games.

Not much else to report I have started to work on a big mosaic mural so all my energy is going into that.
Bye for now

2Happy · 25/02/2006 16:31

mcmudda - I am in awe of your dd - signing already?! Wow! That's fantastic

mcmudda · 25/02/2006 20:14

2Happy - only one sign so far and certainly not to ask for milk IYSWIM. It's more like 'Look mummy I'm having milk aren't I?" while she's drinking. Although she shakes her head for "no" quite vigorously which is hilarious!

Ds is convinced she's speaking though. When she babbles she says "ABBA wahwahwahwah" Ds (being a huge ABBA fan) now thinks he's found a soulmate - "DD wants the ABBA CD again, mummy!" yeah sure she does - scheming boy!

lua · 26/02/2006 20:28

Hi all,
Mcmudda - maybe I can come by your house and listen to ABBA with your DS? always oputs me in a good mood! I should try and play some more"grown up" music to the kids... I always end up listening to the same silly cds all the time!

Lumox - 27lbs! wow! can i ask if you are still bfing? I ask because both of my kids did really well with breast milk and grew lots and then seem to hit a point and stop! can't figure out why... They eat well and healthy (perhaps too healthy?!)

MrsW - congrats on the moving boy. He is such a cutie!
Katz - Congrats on the first steps!!! Have to say that I am not jealous... There is enough havoc around with ds exuberant crawling and cruising!

Giddy - Good to hear from you! Glad Jess is doing better! So... how are you? I do want to hear about it!

KVG - Thanks for asking about us! I am barely finding time to eat! I have also been fighting this nasty cold for almost 4 weeks now!!! Never new it could last this long. It just DS and me that got it, but we are both coghing our lungs up, having conjuntivitis, runny nose, etc!
Let spring roll on!

lummox · 26/02/2006 20:46

hey lua, glad all is going ok. i'm still bfing morning and night, but had to go back to work for a bit so introduced some formula at 7.5 months.

the really big weight gain for ds was between 3 and 5 months (coincided with the really bad sleep) when he was still exclusively bfed. He was putting on about a pound a week just from bfing - scary. now he's gaining around a pound a month - not really sure as he only gets weighed when he has a jab.

solids seemed to slow his weight gain. maybe the same with yours? i think that babies do their own thing with weight gain, so don't think they can eat too healthily.

mcmudda - signing sounds fantastic. well done your dd!

lummox · 26/02/2006 20:50

ooh, i forgot, i've got a weaning question....

i can't get ds interested in meat or fish no matter how heavily disguised. is anyone else having this problem? any tips?

do i need to worry about him getting enough protein or is there enough in the milk?

Hi all,
De-lurking to say hello.
Lummox-Oscar used to eat everything I made him and the only thing he wouldn't eat was kiwi fruit. His teeth are giving him lots of jip at the mo and he won't eat anything hot at all. It's really frustrating as today I tried a chicken dish,a hot veg dish and a casserole, but he clamped his mouth shut and shook his head.
The only things I can get him to eat these last few days funnily enough is kiwi(he has a whole one everyday!),melon, mango, papaya, yogurt, cheese and toast, sometimes.
I even bought a jar of something for the first time today(out of desperation)and I'll shall try that tomorrow,if we have a repeat of today.
He's drinking lots of milk since going off his food so I'm not worried and he was weighed friday and is 22lb's,so he's not going to waste away overnight.

I'm going back to work next monday and really dreading it...already.Have a feeling that I'm going to hand my notice in when I get there.I can't really afford to do this but getting up at 5am again,to be out the door by 6am is going to be a nightmare-I'm never out of bed these days til at least 7.30 so it's going to be a shock to the system! Also not sure whether my mum is going to cope ok with ds-he's such a good baby but full of beans and I already need eyes on the back of my head.Oh well...enough of me whinging-hope everyone else is ok.

Skyler-hope the move went well,if you're lurking.

sfxmum · 27/02/2006 14:29

hello allSmile
so nice to see so many back.

things ok here, dd sleeping ok, quite mobile and generally in good mood.
weaning going ok, she does like most things i give her, including fish. not much meat but she seems to like cheese. i wish i could be more relaxed about the gagging, must post over at the weaning thread about this one.

my battle with the flab continues, pleased with self as i managed to go for a run yesterday despite the sleet, only lasted half hr bloody freezing. it will be a challenge to go this week with all the cold expected

take care all

lummox · 27/02/2006 16:45

Hey giddy - fantastic - it worked really well. Not sure how much he actually ate, but he really seemed to enjoy it which is the main thing.

katzg · 27/02/2006 17:07

hi all

we're all recovering from a D and V bug nice - i have changed 7 pooey nappy's today all DD2's yuck yuck yuck yuck!

Its nearly new thread time so any suggestions for the title? in the past i've tried to do them in the style of Friends episode titles.

OP posts:
2Happy · 27/02/2006 17:21

Ooh Katz, sympathy+++ Hope it clears up soon!
Giddy - I don't think you bore anyone, but I hope you have lots of fab stuff to tell us instead, IYKWIM.

On the feeding side of things, how much milk does everyone's LOs have? ds has 3 bf's a day, but the middle of the day one is getting shorter and shorter, but I don't want to drop it too soon. I won't drop it anyway until he's over his current cold (his nose is so sore it actually BLED this morning Sad)

Threads in the vein of Friends, huh? How about The one with lots of teeth, given the conversation earlier?!

muma3 · 27/02/2006 18:09

hi im lurking but feeling poo
how about for thread the one where they start getting clingy?
or the one where they wont let you go toilet or
the one with all the nashersGrin

im useless Sad

teabelly · 28/02/2006 13:49

Hello ladies Smile

Been v busy - can't keep up! Started my kleeneze stuff this week and am absolutely knackered - 200 drops takes ages Sad, but I've passed all my firsts I think...first dog mangled catalogue, first catalogue thrown back at me, first rain filled bag, first crossed paths with another distributer and first order, hurrah - although it was only for £4 so I'll make a whopping £1.32 for my efforts that round GrinWink

Katz - with you on the D and V bug - poor dd, she picked it up from nursery when we swapped her place with ds whilst he had the pox, every day we have at least one that's filled ALL her clothes and you don't know where to start to clean her and so she just gets plonked into the shower clothes and all Grin - 5th day today and I so hope it's going to go soon! On the plus side she didn't get ds's chickenpox Smile

Hmmm new thread titles - I'm so crap - I always use 100 words when 10 will do Wink so I nominate one of the aforesaid options.

I can't believe how the time has flown, dd will be 9 months on thursday! What have we all been doing with the time? Wink

sfxmum · 28/02/2006 14:53

hello allSmilebright sunny cold day here, not venturing out!

been busy trying to get some order in the house organising and cleaning, all very slow and boring. hope to have things into some sort of system before going back to work in 3months [horror emoticom]

can't remember who mentioned feeds. i will be trying to reduce bf to twice a day over the next couple of months then one at bedtime when back to work with possibly some expressing in the morning.
in the meantime we vary between 3-4 a day but like it was said the day ones are very short indeed.

dd will be 9months thu as well - and yes tea where did the time go - still no teeth and still no 8m review. i called the clinic to check but they took a msg and did not call back. i think she only saw the HV about 4X last one being at 6m. not necessarily a bad thing, i have no worries but could do with reassurance.

hope you all ok take care

ps- looking at 1st birthday cakes!(lovely ones at waitrose) possibly too much time on my hands or maybe side effects of dietGrin

muma3 · 28/02/2006 18:27

dd3 will be 9 months on thursday too Grin

giddy1 · 01/03/2006 09:02

Hi everyone
Silly question here Blush
How do you calculate your babies age? I can never remember when people say how many weeks they are in terms of the growth chart. We suddenly go fom weeks to months and then the weeks seem to go all wrong.
I know , I know I am thick at the moment and VERY sleep deprived
Bloody kids , I must be mad !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am really yearning to go back to Ireland. I'm missing it so much and selfishly longing for a life where I don't have to worry every minute about DD1's future (which at the moment is a complete worry)
As I said befor I am not going to be miserable on this thread !!!!!!!!
LOts of love everyone
Yorky {{{{{{xxx}}}}}} Smile

teabelly · 01/03/2006 13:49

Giddy hi there Smile

Bored at work Grin just googled and found \link{http://www.borntolove.com/agecalculator.html\this} for you...don't know of a manual quick way of doing it except for going through a calendar and counting...but I'm v v lazy and will use a computer/calculator rather than my brain any day Wink

BTW dd is 39 weeks tomorrow and I'm 1941 weeks! ShockShockShock

giddy1 · 01/03/2006 13:54

thanks tea Wink
your just a little spring chicken aren't you.
will look at that later , have to go and take dd1 to yet another hosp appointment zzzzzzzz Sad
see you later xxx

Bubbaloo · 01/03/2006 18:47

Evening all,
Another question coming up.Does anyone's HV not doing the 8 month check, because "they don't do them anymore"? I asked mine about Ds's check a few weeks ago and was told that unless I've got any concerns, then they won't be doing it.I haven't any concerns, but just thought it might be nice for him to be checked-maybe it's me being silly.Anyone else's HV have the same views?

Went to a Mumsnet meet up today(in Essex)which was nice. There was only 5 mums, but a good afternoon was hadGrin.

Sorry, haven't been keeping up with everyone else-hope you're all wellSmile.

Bubba - we had 8 mth check going through the stuff in the red bk, plus she checked DS's fine motor skills (playing with small cubes) as well as a quick physical once over (checked testes). I was sent an appointment invite from HV.
