any ideas for birthday pressies?????? (gulp 2nd birthday already!!!)

im thinking of getting a mini kitchen type but im so skint atm! so will fancy buying small pressies instead of 1 big one.

maisiemog · 06/09/2006 01:29

Something small, not with wheels, saucepans or that takes up half the room, preferably collapsible.
I was a cool collapsible tunnel thing the other day in ELC.
A pair of tap shoes and a drumkit?

OP posts:
maisiemog · 06/09/2006 11:41

I was NOT a collapsible thing. I meant I saw a collapsible tunnel.
Alfie insists on kissing everything, he blows kisses at the TV, out of the window, kisses toys, books, thin air...
Mmmmwah! with that noise.
Maybe he's going to be a luvvy baby.

DS2 will be getting a scooter for his birthday so he doesn't have to fight his brother and sister for theirs. He is alot more into toys than they were and is getting good use from the cars and garage, duplo, wooden train set and farm animals.

Hi all,
CTT you have to start a new thread first and write something then post and it will ask you to upload your photo. The image has to be smaller thank 18k, so will probably need to be reduced using some kind of software package, if you don't have anything fancy Paint comes with windows and it can reduce an image.
HTH
Alfie is a bit boisterous, he's more just inquisitive and lively, like running around a lot and he almost always wants attention from me. He gets a bit rough when he is tired or in pain, like due to teething. He went through a smacking phase, but now does this rarely, but when he does I tell him to stop and if he doesn't I stand him outside the room, I don't hold the door or anything, just go and sitdown or do whatever I was doing before. He usually comes back in in a much better mood and sooks in with me again.
He was a horror tonight, he hurt his mouth because he was running about with a toothbrush in and he fell on it, so he refused to go to sleep for an hour and a half, just jumping around and blah blah blah: it was really wearing me down.
I know he didn't mean any harm, but it's difficult to be patient sometimes, and I have been a bit ill the past couple of days, so I was a horrible mummy shouting and telling him to get in bed. I feel so mean now, he's asleep. DP just went and checked him and said he is all sweaty, but still fast asleep.
I posted on the other forum about pottying, but nobody has replied yet.
Alfie is using his potty seat all the time now and doesn't wear a nappy apart from to go out and for nights. He knows what the toilet is for, but I don't know whether or when I should buy a training seat for the loo and a little step.
I'm not in a big rush, but it would be nice if he could get used to the big loo at some point. What do you guys think???
I can't really imagine him in pants at the moment. I don't know how good he would be at telling me 'peep' when we were out, and we'ed probably end up with a soggy pram.
Should I buy one of those waterproof pads for the carseat or pram??
Would you take a potty out with you, or not bother until they could use the loo?

CTT- about boisturious boys - you wanna meet my boisturious daughter!!!! as she is off her trolley as so strong and she is the type the throws herself in and find out later!! i got a feeling she gotta be a tomboy girl!!! as she LURVES her dollies!!

maisie - i started up a thread a few weeks ago about using potty and a loo seat training for little ones whether i can used both so i dont confused my dd and apparantly u can as you can use the potty downstairs and the loo seat on toilet (i bought a padded one from Home Bargains for £2.99) she had been it once and likes the idea of being a grown up...

Must sort out the potty training (whether i can be arse!!)..you can also buy a travel potty too

maisiemog · 11/09/2006 22:16

Thanks Biglips, you didn't say how your Mum was? Is she taking Tweenie sometimes?
I will go to Mothercare, because they always seem to be good at advising, even if you don't buy from them.
Do those toilet seat thingies fit any toilet seat? I wouldn't like it to shoogle around when Alfie is on it - that would put him right off.
I tried sitting him on the loo a couple of times today. He was laughing and wiggling about, but no peeps, it is ridiculous, just far too big for his tiny bum.

Ooo! Ooo! There's a programme called 'Me Too' on Cbeebies, and I was just watching it with Alfie. It's kind of based on lots of places, but today the bus cleaning woman called Bobby was in Edinburgh. When she first left her son: Kai with Granny Murray, she walked over a cast iron bridge, that's where I live!! Not on the bridge, but that's the area I live, called The Shore in Edinburgh.
Jumping up and down!!
Let me know if you saw it.

OP posts:
biglips · 12/09/2006 13:55

sorry no i didnt but ill keep my eye open for next time

the toilet training padded seat fits all toilet seats.

My mum was working the lingere shop (underwear) for coupple months but wanted more money as she was only on part time, now she is a wine rep full time (60 hours on average!!!) and cant wait to get rid of the job as ive only seen her once in 3 weeks so no she doesnt take tweenie at all so she is stuck to me all day (she is at nursery on monday mornings for me to afford to pay them)

thanks for asking!

geogteach · 12/09/2006 14:30

Masie my kids watch me too while i'm making dinner does that count?
As you know i'm extremely lazy on the potty training front (i've put the potty up the loft) I would definately introduce the seat on the toilet and step, sooner the better avoids all that tipping pee over the floor stuff. I've always avoided taking a potty out, pull ups or the toilet out of the house!

maisiemog · 12/09/2006 22:30

Geog, it only counts if you grill them for details afterwards and demand names, people, places, times etc...if you have a bright lamp that would help.
Yeah the potty thing, he's quite happy just hopping on and off the potty with no nappy. I think I'll just leave him like that for now and perhaps have a training session with a swim nappy, kind of practicing pulling it down. I was thinking he could wear my pants to practice as we don't have any his size. I don't think so, though, they would be like clown pants. Definately not DP's pants, like tent pants, much worse. [grin}

I've just received an appointment letter for Alfie's MMR, it's the 25th (I think, it's stuck on the fridge).
Any top tips for MMR babies?

OP posts:
KathH · 17/09/2006 21:12

Masie - moley was fine with his mmr. I gave him some calpol afterwards but to be honest I dont know whether he really needed it. I was just a bit nervous in case he got a temp & had another fit but he was absolutely fine.

KathH · 17/09/2006 21:22

shameless scrounge alert

If anyone has any tesco sports vouchers that they dont want could you send them to me for ds1's football club. I'll even reimburse postage costs - my email address is [email protected]

Thanks!

biglips · 20/09/2006 17:06

no sorry Kathh - dont have any...

it was my DD's due date yesterday 2 years ago

maisiemog · 21/09/2006 01:05

I must go to bed. Yawn!
Just wanted to check again about floatation aids for swimming, did Geog say a floatsuit was good???
I took Alfie swimming on Tuesday after a long absence from the pool, and he was crazed. It was scarey. I had to keep grabbing the back of his swimsuit to stop him plunging in head first.
At one point I sat down on the edge of the baby pool thinking he would walk around a bit, but no, he just jumped in face first thrashing about and sinking face down. I had to jump up and hoist him out. It's nice he feels so confident, but it's a pain in the bum that I can't let go of him for a second.
I think floatsuits are better for swimming babies aren't they, something to do with the position in the water?
I want something that gives my arms a rest and allows Alfie to pursue his swimming career.
Or are armbands better or armdiscs (or something like that?)
Anyone???

OP posts:
biglips · 21/09/2006 08:28

well ive never used floatation suit for my DD as she got armbands and a ring as its cheap to buy. Take a look on ebay or freecycle.org

biglips · 21/09/2006 12:54

oh well off to Docs today for tweenie to have the new jab! i hate these things!! but she doesnt cry though she just let out a BIG cry for 2 seconds and then is happy but she growls at the HV though

biglips · 21/09/2006 16:40

my Tweenie now weighs ........ 38.5lb...she is 2.5 stones and a bit !! but midwife said that tweenie is in a good weight for her height as she 90cm tall too

maisiemog · 21/09/2006 21:10

You must have good biceps Biglips. Good luck at the Docs. Let us know how you get on.
I took Alfie to a softplay today at Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh. When we got there, there were no other people in the room at all. It was most odd.
So he lined up all the chairs like a train.
What's that about?
