Hi All, I thought I'd start a new 2006 thread for the October 2004 Mummies and Babies.

Hi Jbad, that's fab news! Congratulations! Are you worried about the move or is the job different from what you are doing?
Across the road sounds like a dream job to me, just wander over with a slice of toast and your hair sticking up.
Excellent that Tobes is on the move (I think wobbling definately counts as moving) It's great that he has come this far. If he can get a bit more mobile that sounds good for his general health and fitness, get the old circulation going.
I hope he is still keeping his glasses on and styling his quiff every day.

jbadgirl well done you and well done Toby!

biglips · 12/08/2006 07:53

morning everyone!

i will read the rest in a bit since i last posted. Yesterday my dd was trying to say her name (what a proud mummy i am!!) x

maisiemog · 12/08/2006 23:08

Hi Biglips, where have you been???? Hm! Well!?

Speaking of saying things, Alfie started saying 'boob' the other day, except he says boop and he says it over and over and over 'boop boop boop boop....' Ok Alfie, that's enough 'boop boop boop boop etc....
Oh and I'm sooo bored when we go out for a walk near the road because he ONLY says the following 'gus' (bus) brrrmbrrrrmbrrrrrrrrm (you get the picture).

docket - just read your post about ds using the potty as a hat! That sounds right up Moley's street

docket - just read your post about ds using the potty as a hat! That sounds right up Moley's street

KathH · 13/08/2006 22:23

see - i thought it was so funny I've said it twice!

maisiemog · 13/08/2006 23:15

Oh, I completely forgot to say (ongoing baby brain) WELL DONE HOTMAMA!!! For sticking with it and feeding Evie for 6 months. I knew you could do it. What do you think has helped you keep going the most?
Oh and Docket, hi, I'm sorry I didn't say hi before. I do remember your name. Have you been doing anything interesting all this time?
Alfie also likes to use his potty as a hat, when he isn't wearing a sieve or something equally 'hatty'.
He was such a good boy tonight. I've noticed he is doing poops before bed recently, so last night I popped him on his potty and he eventually did poops, but got up too soon and some fell on the floor (sorry bit graphic) it was funny though.
Tonight, I put him on the potty and he did poops almost immediately. He got up really fast and I assumed he wasn't 'playing ball', so I told him to sit back down, but when I looked he had done a poop. He's such a clever boy. Now if only I could persuade him to stop peeping on the floor. It's getting a bit smelly round here.
I was just thinking I wonder where Riebee is and how Chimpy is getting on?

Right ladies, advice needed. There doesnt seem to be a section called "Do I get the arse with my friend" so I'm throwing myself on the mercy of October 04 ladies!

I have a friend who has a part time job delivering brochures, getting orders & being paid commission. She does this on top of her full time job as she's quite heavily in debt. To cut a very long story short, after speaking to dd1 who's 13 I said to my friend that dd1 could help her delivering brochures & getting orders. Friend said that she would give dd1 some of the commission. Friend has now been paid for her orders, which dd1 managed to get over £150 which means my friend got about £35 commission from dd1's orders. She still hasnt paid dd1 any money. I'm so gutted for her - altho she was only helping she took it really seriously & had written a list of things she wanted to get with her money. Even if she only gave her a tenner, she's still made £25 from dd1's hard work. DD1 has since helped her with further orders - when do I say enough is enough?

KathH · 14/08/2006 22:06

oh gawd, have killed about 6 threads already tonight (kath slinks into a corner wearing a billy no mates hat)

geogteach · 14/08/2006 22:08

I'm here not sure what the answer is but you are not ignored!
Think i'd definately tell DD to stop helping if she is getting no dosh though.

maisiemog · 14/08/2006 23:05

Poor old DD. I think mummy Kath will have to step in and ask the friend about the commission. If she said she would pay your DD then she should do it, particularly if she is a good friend.
And I agree that your DD shouldn't help her until it is cleared up, but it has to be clear to your friend that it is because of the non-payment.
Oh yes and we've all got a cold here. What's that about??

OP posts:
KathH · 15/08/2006 22:01

thanks for you replies, much appreciated! I told her this morning that dd had helped on the basis of getting something out of the commission, bearing in mind dd earned her £35 in commission. She turned round & said I'm skint at the moment, you know my financial situation, I'll give her something when I get paid. Nipped to the supermarket tonight, bumped into her & she was buying cdss & stuff! She then turned round & asked me if I'd help out with her dd when she goes off on her 3rd foreign holiday of the year in October!

maisiemog · 16/08/2006 22:06

Hmmm! I wonder why she's skint?!

OP posts:
cazzybabs · 17/08/2006 15:24

Hope your dd gets paid Kath - mind you sound quite a good system - get other people to do your work and you take all the money!

Took Grace for her MMR today - she cried! It made my realise how hard it is for other people to understand your children out of contex - she wanted some milk and the nurse thought she was saying no no!

maisiemog · 17/08/2006 16:22

OMG I must take Alfie for his MMR, I keep forgetting. He's got a cold right now so I don't think they would want to do it. How did it go?
I know what you mean, I have to translate for Alfie, except 'boop' I just say he's saying tooth, because he's teething.

OP posts:
KathH · 18/08/2006 21:11

Hurrah - she got some money today - not much but some!

Right, now we're nearly heading into the terrible twos - when are all the littleones 2?

Moley & biglip's dd are 2 on 1st October. By the way, where are you biglips?

shanaz · 19/08/2006 13:30

hi, this is my first msg on this thread, my dd is going to be 2 on oct 17th, she hasnt had her mmr jab yet, just wanted your opinion on the jab and if it has any side effects worth knowing about

maisiemog · 19/08/2006 21:57

Hi Shanaz, my DS: Alfie is 2 on the 31st of October and hasn't had his either. I have kind of put it off because he's a boy, just in case with the autism thing.
But I will be getting it sorted out soon because I really don't want him to get measles. I had mumps and rubella as a child and survived, but measles is pretty bad for babies.
I don't know of any effects other than the usual reaction to jabs - fever and crankiness. The only other possible risk I know of is the now discounted, but still worrying, connection to autism. Sorry!
Have you been on Mumsnet long?

OP posts:
maisiemog · 19/08/2006 22:02

Potty latest. We're trying to take Alfie to the loo when we go, so he kind of gets the idea. He is now pointing at the toilet and saying 'poop' then at daddy and saying 'poop' and daddy is saying 'No Alfie - it's Daddy' and Alfie says 'poop'. So we're not sure if he is clear on what 'poop' means, but he's kind of getting there.
I let him run about with no nappy most of the time and he pretty much tries to do something whenever I put him on the potty, so I think he's getting used to it now.
He does try to get on the potty, but sometimes gets off again to peep - hmm!
If I don't get to the potty fast after he's peeped or pooped he will pour it over his head.

Oh, and yay Kath's DD getting some money. That must be a weight off your mind.
