Vik is due Christmas eve or Christmas day

I've been out shopping too. Got the boys a toy each for Christmas, a new pair of shoes for them each, a booster seat for E for dh's car and some dog food so 'twasn't the most exciting shopping trip I've ever had Xmas Wink

How's D tonight vik? I have a sore throat, think I'm getting tonsilitis again

We're having a celebratory takeaway pizza tonight - dh passed his pilot's licence today

Woodlands · 12/12/2011 18:36

well done to your dh mlisc!

I have also been to the shops - nipped into Ikea to get some frames for J's nursery photo which we're giving to some of the rellies and also keeping the big copy for ourselves. I will put it on fb after Christmas but I don't want my mum to see it just yet!

Actually I have a dilemma about that. We gave MIL a framed photo of J last year but she says now she only likes pictures she has taken herself/knows where they were taken or whatever. So fine, we won't give her a copy of this year's one, especially as it is slightly staged I suppose. But she also insists her mother, DH's gran, feels the same way. I don't know whether she does or not really, but I know she has last year's photo displayed in a prominent position. So this year should I give her a copy of the new one? I have bought a nice frame and it's only a 6x4 copy - she can always use the frame for something else!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 12/12/2011 18:52

I think that's quite rude of her actually woodlands! I would go ahead

CakeandRoses · 12/12/2011 18:55

will post properly later but wt actual f woodlands?! that is so rude AND bizarre. what on earth is her reasoning?!

deffo get the gran one - how could 2 people be that odd?

Chulita · 12/12/2011 19:14

woodlands sounds like something my MIL might say but I'd give one to the gran anyway. If she doesn't like it, she won't display it surely!

viksam's due christmas day I think?

Both children down without a peep tonight, and S has got his appetite back, hooray!

mlisc you seem to get tonsilitis all the time! I hope it's not.

DesperateHousewife21 · 12/12/2011 19:53

mlisc well done to your dh he must be well chuffed!

woodlands that is quite odd, my mil is always really pleased when she gets a pic of D from us. I'd still give the gran one, let her make up her own mind.

memphis83 · 12/12/2011 21:41

mlic well done to your dh, so does that mean he can fly you and the boys about? there is a small airfield here you could fly down for a cuppa!
woodlands get the gran one and wait for the MIL to be full of jealousy at not having one! I like posed pictures, L moves so quickly now we struggle to get them!
just watched the last Harry Potter, I had a little cry! dh's phone has gone off again grr really needed to talk to him, his friend has CF and has been ill so wanted to update him! The house is a tip but will sort it tomorrow! got docs first thing, then hair done in the afternoon then my friends are coming round in the evening!

Woodlands · 12/12/2011 22:23

glad you agree it's rude, I think so! Yes, we'll give a small one to his gran and say we won't be offended if she doesn't display it (though actually I will Grin). What I don't expect is for relatives to display every single picture we ever give them of j!

memphis83 · 12/12/2011 22:30

woodlands DH's gran is in a home and we give her photos of L and she keeps them all up we keep trying to take a few down but they re appear! Grin

WhatSheSaid · 12/12/2011 22:40

I agree with everyone else woodlands. Uber-rude! She would be off my Christmas present list.

I am knackered, one of the online photo printing companies over here has just announced 50% off all products till Fri. I haven't printed any photos out since 2008 Shock so I have just gone through 3 years of photos and uploaded 600 or so of the best ones to the website so I can order copies of them all. I have done all this this morning while G is running around trying to get my attention poor neglected child.

Now I am thinking I could do one of those photobooks of the girls for MIL and maybe a desk calendar or something for dh as part of Christmas presents. I still have 3 days to get them done.

I've just been to the dr to get my pill prescription too and I've lost 5kg, yay! (we don't have scales at home so the ony time i get weighed is at the drs). I still have about 10kg to go but at least I'm going in the right direction I will get into all those nice tops again damnit!

WhatSheSaid · 12/12/2011 22:54

Btw, where are stac and spirael? And melissa? And anyone else missing?

CakeandRoses · 12/12/2011 23:08

i was wondering exactly that earlier wss

DesperateHousewife21 · 13/12/2011 07:06

wss photo books are great. I've got one for my wedding photos. I was printing photos of D off every so often and putting them in an album but haven't done that since he was about 8 months!

He wasn't too good last night and he woke at about 6 and didn't go back to sleep.

Spirael · 13/12/2011 08:39

[materialises] I'm here! I've been reading everyones posts, but not had time to post myself. Work has been unreasonable manic lately. I've now been working 16 days in a row, having to take a laptop home at weekends and dial in!

Some of the days last week, I left the house before M was awake and got back after she'd gone to bed. :( And I don't even get overtime. Theoretically I'll be getting time off in lieu... But we'll see.

But I did manage to find time to take M swimming at the weekend, at least! (She adores swimming.) Does that help redeem me from being a bad WOHM? Confused

Morning,
Im due xmas eve and i really thought he was going to come early but now im not so sure, was trudy early, i cant remember, trudy hope ur ok, please post soon.
stac is fine, just really busy with college, childern have been poorly but are on the mend now, she will be on soon no doubt, we spoke on fb.
woods i think thats rude too and a cronic reason, silly lady.
dh why the bad night with ur D?
chu good to hear the children went down well, did u have a good night?
mylife really hope u havent got tonsilitis, that would suck!
D was a squealing nightmare yesterday, due to chu's advice (thanks chu) i did take him to the docs, she couldn't see anything wrong at all, he ate tea well but screamed at ever other mouthfull, weird. He settled well but woke crying on and off from 2.15 through to 6.30, i went in 3 times in during that time, gave calpol, settled him etc, nothing seemed to help. I feel exhausted and so does DH. I have sent him to the cm today, hope it doesnt back fire. He ate cerial and a bit of crumpet and was a happy chappy this morning so god knows!

I had a lovely night last night out with girls from several groups from when babies were small, we have aranged to meet again on the 23rd with the children, i wonder wether i will make it???

viksam · 13/12/2011 09:07

spireal my god, thats sounds like far too much! I hope you do get ur time off in lieu. U must be exhausted, i dont know how ur doing it really, is it expected of u or are u doing it by 'choice'?

DesperateHousewife21 · 13/12/2011 10:28

spirael sounds crazy at your work. At least it's Xmas soon so you'll have some rest.

vik he woke up 3 times between 7:40 and 9ish then slept til 11 then came in our bed. I think it was the wind outside last night, so noisy!

I've been reading the 'what do SAHM do every day' and was thinking its so hard in the winter to get the motivation to do anything and you can't do anything outside and taking them somewhere indoors all the time starts to really cost. Im mostly ok in that I meet friends often and go to the surestart centre but days that I don't I'm really stuck for things to do besides housework which isn't much fun.

viksam · 13/12/2011 10:52

dh i wondered if D was upset by the wind and rain too.
D is at the cm's today, god only knows what the hell she will do with them, i suppose she has more than one so they play together which helps i should imagine but still, it must be difficult to think of something to do every day, i struggle on a monday and a friday tbh!
I might send DH up the loft tonight for the decs, he doesnt want them up but i do!

Chulita · 13/12/2011 12:56

I missed S's sleep window due to someone being in to fix his radiator, only by about 30 mins but he's up in bed screaming at the mo. I fricking knew this would happen and he's not getting up if I can help it, he'll just have to settle. I'm not having him downstairs having not slept, he'll just scream all afternoon.

Hope D's okay today viks and you get a more peaceful night. S was up twice last night but I left him to cry and he re-settled.

DH L loves crafts so we do loads of that, you do more as they get older I reckon, S isn't so easily entertained on the whole although he'll wash up for ages perched on a stool by the sink.

memphis83 · 13/12/2011 13:30

dh I already paint and colour in with L when its raining, but when its just cold I still take him out to the park and for a walk through the rec he loves the wind and we pick up leaves and twigs, he can witter away over an hour pointing at things in a playing field in the cold!
viksam we have totally done the decorating in the kitchen diner just want a table and chair set in new year, Ls room is done so all that is left to do is our room and the living room, all the walls in the living room are shades of grey in the new year we will re paint them, I want a shade of grey on 3 walls then found awallpaper for the other wall I love but it is very expensive so will get that after my birthday in January. For L when we give him a roast type dinner we give him mash veg and gravy, we sort of break down the veg with a fork so it still has a solid consistency but he doesnt have to eat chunks iykwim that ways he tends to eat more, have you tried this?

Been docs with L we were in there a long time he spent so much time with L, he has toddler tummy, basically toddlers can get the runs a lot for no reason and its more common in very very active children which is what he said L is, active child active bowels, but he is doing a sample test to be sure, he sat with him looking at books and toys and said he seems on the go all of the time so he is waking after 5 or so good hours wanting to go again, he said although tiring now an active child usually makes a bright child at school (I would prefer sleep right now)

DesperateHousewife21 · 13/12/2011 13:33

chulita I think I either missed D's sleep window or put him down too early but it was the same time as normal and he was up earlier this morning. I had to leave the room and let him scream for a bit as that always seems to work. I went back in and he fell asleep on his own I just sat there.
I like doing craft thins with him like painting etc, it makes such a mess though and I dont really have anywhere that wouldn't get ruined iyswim. Maybe I could cover the carpet in newspaper or something.

DesperateHousewife21 · 13/12/2011 13:34

Craft things! Not thins, new type of biscuit?

Chulita · 13/12/2011 13:53

I've got a couple of big plastic mats (they sell them in Tesco) that I put on the floor but S isn't really into painting/craft stuff so that's not an option for him.

memphis L had toddler squits, never had a solid poo til she was about 2.8 (I say never, she'd had less than 10 her whole life). A HV once said that strangely enough it sometimes clears up once potty trained and, odd as it may sound, since she's been totally potty trained she has normal poos - now that I no longer have to change her nappy Hmm

Woodlands · 13/12/2011 15:53

Yeah I'm a bit stuck for ideas of what to do with J. He's still a bit little for painting or baking or stuff like that. We went to the playground this afternoon but after 15 mins or so it started to rain so we came home. I have actually been out again and left him with DH (working from home) as I had a couple of errands to do, but am back and there's still two hours till teatime... better get off here and play with him, I guess!

Off out tonight with my local mum friends - have never socialised with them without babies before, it's going to be really odd going to the pub with them! There are two or three of them I don't really know as well so hopefully will make some new friends. Looking forward to it.

memphis83 · 13/12/2011 16:12

chulita I remember her squits, were they really frequent all the way along or was it just when she went it was wet? I need to potty train him asap I reckon our nappy usage will landfill alone nearly 2 packs of 47 a week some weeks!
woodlands have a nice night out!
DH is coming home tonight as a machine has broken, my friends have cancelled on me, Ive just had my hair done and enjoying the peace before I pick him up from my sisters!
dh would he use an aquadraw mat? it could go on the floor and its only water, I also second the plastic mats we have the plastic table clothes you buy by the meter so keep mess away from floor
