Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Chulita · 05/12/2011 19:36

dh see that's the thing, my two usually don't settle even after I've gone so I don't see the point!

viks S does this and I just take the cup off him, tell him that if he's going to knock it off he can't have it and put it out of reach altogether. Equally when he throws food he gets down, even if he still wants to eat (admittedly I get him back up again a few mins later)

mlisc Confused hope he's ok! seriously though, some children are always hurting themselves, just the way they are and not to do with parenting.

I had to move at the speed of light twice today to catch S, once when he was legging it to the road and once to catch him when he fell backwards off a slide. I felt my pelvis go both times and it's horrible now...I'm hoping a good night's sleep will sort it out, I can't even handle stairs. Physio on Thurs and I hope they're helpful.

dylthan you about?

DesperateHousewife21 · 05/12/2011 19:46

vik I will say no firmly maybe two or three times and if he still does it take it away. Try again the next night with the cup on there and carry on doing that as much as necessary.
D is similar with the Xmas tree baubles he keeps pulling them off so if he goes near them I firmly say no and sometimes, not all the time, listens to me!

mlisc hope he's ok, not a good start!

viksam · 05/12/2011 21:00

mylife tut to the hurt foot, hope it gets better. How is it there? whats ur accomodation like?
dh my dh doesnt want me to put the xmas tree up because of D pulling it over, stuff off it etc. Im still gona put it up though cos i want it up!
chu what do u do to relieve the pain, im suffering tonight, i went to the supermarket this morning, i dont use a trolly any more but still its hard work trying to get a weeks worth of food in a basket! This afternoon i walked the dog over the field and let D run free, but it was hard work to push the pushchair across a muddy field. A little staffy came bounding up to us while we were there and wouldnt leave D alone and it put the wind up me a bit that i couldnt get rid of it so i shouted at the owner, who was right across the field, for him to call it back, he did straight away and i think he was a bit scared of me, i must have looked like a mad woman shouting in the middle of the field but he should keep his dog under control or at least notice when its bothering a small child enough for him to cry! idiot!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 05/12/2011 21:34

I hate it when people do that vik

Accommodation is the same as last time,. it's nice - we are in the downstairs bedroom, W in the cot in the twin room and E in the double bed

He was tip-toeing on it by bedtime, one & a half to two hours after hurting it. I was panicking about it being broken but I'm happier now he can bear weight. Will just see how it is in the morning. I defo think he's one of those children chul.

I say no to W in my 'mammy is laying down the law' voice wrt baubles. The few times a day I have to do it is nothing compared to how much I'd miss not having a tree!

Here's a (possibly) weird question. Do any of your LOs roll their eyes at you? W does, and it really unnerves me. He's been doing it for a while but has done it 3 times in the last 2 days which is more frequent than normal. His eyes go up and he looks down, the only way I can describe it is it looks like he's really cross. Sometimes he just stops but sometimes he looks like he's in a little trance the way he stares. Anyone experienced anything similar?

viksam · 05/12/2011 21:56

no mylife that sounds unusual, in what context is he doing that? when ur telling him off?

CakeandRoses · 05/12/2011 22:02

hey all,

sorry if i miss anything - had a fuck-awful night and limited patience today so have waited til i've got time and i'm in a better mood to post but have missed loads including wishing mlic a good hols.

poor W Sad. it does sound good that he's putting weight on it so hopefully it'll be much better tomo.

No, i've not seen that eye rolling thing in either of mine. i can't quite imagine what you're describing but if he's starting to do it often then maybe get it checked out just in case?

hope your hips improve with a rest tonight chul. sounds awful. i was fine in pg but get sciatica where i can barely move so i have mucho sympathy for you dealing with this with the added weight too.

i so know how you feel about toddlers doing your brain in. i was sick to death of F by bedtime tonight and am really looking forward to a 'day off' at work tomo. i really admire mothers like you who manage at home fulltime.

the dress is lovely btw. you'll still have the extra hair and hormonal glow hopefully by the wedding.

how's things there now tsc? really hope things are improving.

vik i'm similar to chul re cups etc.i don't really tell A off that much, i just take things away if she keeps doing stuff. with things like her not wanting to go in the buggy, i just ignore the moaning and apply knee pressure Wink

she's been really good with the tree - she's learnt a new word 'dangerous' so she spent the day touching a bauble or stuff in the dishwasher and shouting 'DANGEROUS' at me Grin

dh i flew to croatia when 6m pg with F. i think 32 weeks is a common cut off but each airline prob differs

trudy thanks for the tip-off - have had it deleted!

i'm pleased you've seen some improvement. once i'd got the reflux under control with A, I really could tell when she reacted badly to specific things I ate - in her case it was if I ate berries of any kind, she would get horrific trapped wind and was in so much pain she couldn't even bf - it happened on F's 2nd bday unfortunately. it might be worth having a think about anything you ate that was different at the weekend.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 05/12/2011 22:03

Yesterday and once today I was telling him off but the other time today he just asked for a drink and did it as he took the drink off me. DH thinks it's just 'attitude' but I'm not so sure. But I'm probably reading more into it because I'm with him a hell of a lot more than dh is aware his behaviour has always been quite erratic and OTT since he was 3 weeks old

CakeandRoses · 05/12/2011 22:06

is he trying to focus on the thing - eg the cup?

CakeandRoses · 05/12/2011 22:09

seems way young for attitude to me, btw.

tsc My guess is he's said that (to meet in the new year) just to put you off for another month or so. "In the new year" is very vague too.

No experience of the eye thing here mlisc.

I like the dress chul.

Got go hang out washing and pick A up from pre school.

DesperateHousewife21 · 06/12/2011 07:34

mlisc it does sound quite unusual. D will scrunch his eyes up if he's being told off/ shy of something but it's not quite the same thing.

vik you should def have a tree! You'll just have to be v strict, they get the message eventually. We haven't gone overboard on the baubles either.

I'm going to get D weighed today for the first time since his 10 month check.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 06/12/2011 08:15

Thanks for your input ladies. Guess I'll just have to keep an eye on it

Agree with wss,. tsc. Sounds like a distraction technique to me - trying to put you off a bit longer

BTW sorry chul can't see that dress properly on my phone but sounds like everyone else thinks it's lovely :)

Oh and he is walking on his foot properly today thank goodness. Must have been a strain/sprain

CakeandRoses · 06/12/2011 08:40

phew re his foot mlic hope the rest of your stay is uneventful

dh has asked for flying lessons too. should i be worried (in terms of future costs and flying lesson-widowism - i don't mean in the properly dead sense!)?

he's not even keen on flying anyway so i have no idea why he wants them - i'd probably enjoy them more!

how's things there today tsc? agree with the others, sounds like a fricking stalling tactic. you just need an answer about how he's going to pay towards his daughter's costs. should be a no brainer and nothing to discuss. hope you're not getting too stressed with the muppet.

working today but A is really bunged up and chesty (not sleeping at all either) so will try to get a docs appt for her later altho she won't like being picked up and then dropped back to nursery.

F is really making me laugh with his turn of phrase lately. This morning whilst cuddling a xmas Hamleys talking teddy 'This bear was mine when i was a tiny baby' erm, no. Then 'I'm going to take him to nursery' No. 'Just a tiny little bit please?' [puppy dog eyes] (what like an arm?) erm no!

oh and he's randomly learnt to spell 'Santa' altho no-one has taught him which has really puzzled me Confused it was actually a bit spooky to go into the shower after him and see 'santa' (he has those foam letters that cling to wet surfaces) along with his own name and 'dgo' (dog) Grin. was quite pleased he didn't do similar at Halloween and randomly spell 'Devil' or something!

dh is off for a three day training course tomo so away thurs and fri night. am praying A will be sleeping better.

some really lovely posts on the MN xmas roundup. really liked these two:

The children unwrap little stocking pressies, all covered in separate Santa paper, with messages on the cards, such as 'For working hard on your maths' or 'For being kind to Nanny'. And then potatoes, wrapped too, with messages like 'For getting stroppy with your brother again'! ajandjjmum

When we are tidying away the decorations, we write a little note to put in with them, saying what we hope for in the year ahead. It is lovely when you open the decorations box the next year and see what you have written. sunnytimer

Champagne, presents, a lovely walk, church (if I can remember the service time). Enormous and jolly dinner, homemade crackers. Raising a glass to absent friends, phone calls with family miles apart, enormous feeling of how exceptionally blessed we are. Love it, love it, LOVE IT. Sallyallyally

feeling very xmassy now!

WhatSheSaid · 06/12/2011 08:43

I just decorated our playgroup hall for the kids Christmas party tomorrow so I'm feeling all Christmassy too now Grin

viksam · 06/12/2011 08:54

GOOD morning all,
It is a very good morning here, D had a fantastic night again, he slept through till 6.30ish when he moaned a bit and dh went in, dont know what he did but it brought us an extra half hour! I stayed in bed till 7.30 but had to get up to sort D's food for the cm. So my boys have gona and im alone! I have a giant long list to work through over the next few weeks, and im going into work for an hour this morning and possibly meeting DH for lunch so might be a full day today, wish i could have stayed in bed, dh cant take D for the next two days so i have to get up then!
mylife good news about W's foot, just have to monitor the eye rolling thing, really dont know what that could be.
chu how u feeling this morning? Im feeling stiff and hoping to get an appointment at the docs today. oh yeah, i really like the dress too! its a lovely colour.
Watching a babyjogger cmd on ebay, its black, unused and boxed, £150, its in scotland and would cost £20 to post but worth it, it has a day to go and no bids, fingers crossed. I have just discovered you can buy adaptors to fit a maxicosi car seat, bonus!
dh defo gona have the tree up, D will be fine im sure......i have been thinking i should get D weighed, but i can't think of a reason why, just to track his weight i suppose. I shall be seeing a lot of the HV's in a few weeks though for newby.
cake why was ur night so bad? Hope u had a better one last night! I so agree with you re full time Mom's, I am worried im really going to struggle at home with the two of them full time, i feel that i may be looking forward to going back to work far too much.

viksam · 06/12/2011 09:16

cake xposted, ahhhhhhhhhh those quotes are lovely, some lovely ideas and thoughts. I really want to put the tree up now and feel all christmassy but dh says its too early and seen as thought its in the loft i have to wait for him to get it down, boooooo!

memphis83 · 06/12/2011 09:40

cakes, chulita and mlic he is having A flying lesson, no more, its more of a fun day when they do loop the loop etc, he has a bloody expensive mountain bike, an 8 grand motor bike and a jet ski thats enough 'him' things in this house learning to fly properly is not an option (he better not think it as the airport is 10 mins drive away!) he wanted hand gliding but there isnt anywhere around here that does a one off lesson, my friend moved to Austrailia as flying lessons are so much cheaper there! that is dedication, maybe thats what DH wants as he is desperate to move to Austrailia!
mlic never seen eye rolling before, L eye balls me but no eye rolling here!

L is doing my head in today, we have been downstairs an hour he has destroyed the tree, removed all the other christmas trimmings from the sides, emptied a whole box of muesli onto the floor and thrown the dog biscuits over the floor, the word 'no' is not working today!

Woodlands · 06/12/2011 18:14

Glad they're all on the mend tsc, and good news about dd1. Fingers crossed she gets a place with a nice low offer!

Am so sick of J whinging whinging whinging. All bloody afternoon. It's so fucking annoying. He's still a bit poorly plus his bloody buggering teeth are hurting as usual. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Have put ITNG on watch again rather than waiting for it to start at 6.20 as he's shattered so want to get him to bed early. Plus I am off out with the NCT lot tonight!

CakeandRoses · 06/12/2011 19:07

gosh, we're quiet without mlic

Lady A has a bad chest infection Sad so no mystery about the lack of sleep here lately. why is it when you rush them to the docs they 'just have a virus' and when you don't you feel dreadful as they have a raging infection Blush

left work early to collect her as nursery said she wasn't herself altho her being her she was still making the effort to chat and smile, bless her.

had one of those afternoons where you have to call in favours as our car is in for repair - one lovely friend took us to the doc and back and another went for the prescription.

that's super news about dd1 tsc!!! will keep everything crossed. i've also got a little something i've been meaning to post to you for days but didn't get a mo again with chest-gate but hopefully life will be calmer tomo!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 06/12/2011 19:25

Everything crossed for dd1 tsc! Sorry bout J's whinging woodlands and her chest cake. I am STILL coughing 3 weeks later. Will be going to the docs if I still feel like this when we get home.

Have just oedered a takeaway which won't arrive until between 8.30 & 9 :(

Will have to make do with my friend Merlot until then Wink

Chulita · 06/12/2011 19:37

I've not been on cos S isn't very well, very clingy and won't let me do anything that doesn't involve cuddling him. I'm pretty sure it's the mmr, he's got a rash on his back/sides and has had a fever all of yesterday and today.

Just realised our car's MOT ran out yesterday, we never forget that but grr! I'll have to try and book it in tomorrow. Now that I can't push the buggy or walk I neeeeed the car!

memphis it's a slippery slope re flying lessons, once you get the bug, that's it! I did a week's flying course and had I had any money I'd have gone for my licence Grin DH bought FIL one lesson and two years later he's got his own microlight/plane thing even though MIL absolutely hates it and he spends a fortune on it...

cake hope A gets better soon, I'm not one for rushing off to doc's but sometimes DH pushes me to with the DC, you just can't tell with little ones.

tsc got fingers crossed for DD1, hope it all works out for her!

woodlands I'm with you on the whinging, I'm fed up to the back teeth of S's. It's all I hear, all day long.

mlisc enjoy your Wine. I'm rather jealous, I can't have more than a sip or it makes my joints really really ache when I'm pg Confused

viks re the pain I find the dreamgenii an absolute godsend at the mo, can't sleep without it. I can't push the buggy or walk very far so it's all resting as much as poss with my two running around. I give in to paracetamol when it's really bad.

I just knitted Frijol a little hat, hope it fits - it looks sooo small [might possibly be getting excited a little too soon emoticon]

memphis83 · 06/12/2011 20:11

chulita I really wouldnt 'let' him spend out on flying lessons, we want a holiday abroad next year and his debt has to be gone by a years time when we want another baby, but now he is umming and arring about other presents now, so now we have gone through hang gliding, flying, x box, bike parts, clothes grr stupid indecisive man!
tsc fingers crossed for DD1!
cakes poor A she sounds linke L still smiles when hes ill too!

Chulita · 06/12/2011 20:17

Grin at another baby, good stuff!

DH is currently researching which dishwasher to buy in the sales. This decision was made last night after he spent an hour washing up and still had stuff left to do, I'm certainly not going to argue. He wants to get a bigger tv too, we've currently got a 26 inch which I don't find small but he doesn't like gaming on it so wants to go for a 32 - looks massive to me but hey ho!
