New Year - New Thread!!

Hope you all had a lovely festive season!

I went for a nice walk in the park today as it was lovely & sunny. Sneezed violently half way round and realised my pelvic floor integrity ain't what it used to be. Which got me thinking about New Years resolutions!

  1. DO MORE PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES!!!
  2. Get Toned and Fit
  3. Get pregnant
  4. Sort out the garden

Obviousy number 3 may have an impact on 1 and 2!!

Angeliz - congrats, v pleased for you

Pjsmum - sleep is troublesome here too - last night midnight, 2am, 4am and then 8am. I am praying it is the next 2 teeth and that they will be through soon

Nice bras.. oh what a dream eh tipex
I can't decide whether to buy yet more nursing bras or not... MIL washed them while we were away so they are now v grey

roosmum · 14/01/2006 11:44

angeliz - fab news! SO pleased for you!

but HELP! roo's not well & i'm a bit worried. he keeps being sick, but seems ok in himself, a bit sleepier than normal maybe. he's been sick 4 times over the last 12ish hrs. sick before bed last night, then bf at 1am (fine after this), bf at 6.30am & sick at 7ish. ate tiny bit of toast for breakfast, then sick again mid-morning. temp seems normal, tho i don't 100% trust my ear thermometer.

any ideas why he's being sick?? tipex/nik, esp.
have just given him bf, see how this goes...am half expecting more sick shortly!

picnikel · 14/01/2006 13:20

Poor Roo! . It could be a similar vomiting bug to the one DH had - it only lasted 24 hours but there's been a big outbreak of it here. If he's alert & taking plenty fluid he should be OK. You could try giving him dioralyte from the chemist which will replace glucose & salts lost with the vomiting. Get him checked if you're worried especially if he stops taking fluids, goes drowsy or his nappies are dry. Babies can get dehydrated very fast. HTH.

picnikel · 14/01/2006 13:23

ps - I usually advise the BRAT diet for when they start to take some solids again - Bananas, Rice, Apple-sauce, Toast. All nice & easy on a poorly tum. Hope it gets better soon but it could be pretty infectious for the rest of the family.

Hazellnut · 14/01/2006 15:40

sorry to hear roo is ill Roosmum - there are loads of sick bugs going around here too. Not nice.

Exciting news in the hazellnut household - dd took her first few steps today. Did a few when she thought dh was holding her (but wasn't) and then took another one towards me.

Pjsmum - shoes bags and pants defo !!

oooh congrats anna! clever girl!

roo still ill. rand nhs direct again last night when he had temp of 38.8...over-anxious mum here!...but they just said the same thing (when ringing back at 2am!) that he's prob got gastroenteritis & it'll pass of own accord.
poor babe has been sick SO many times now tho - for him, i really am. no diarrhoea tho, on the plus side.
temp down a bit this am, really really wanting him to pick up a bit now.

hope everyone else ok.

picnikel · 15/01/2006 10:47

Oh, poor Roo - was wondering how he was today. Is he taking fluids still? If he seems lethargic he really needs seen by a GP, just to be on the safe side. Probably is just gastroeneteritis but if he doesn't perk up soon I'd call NHS direct back & insist on seeing someone. It's horrible seeing them ill, isn't it? Dd seems totally well now for the first time since Xmas and it's so good to have her back to her normal happy self at last.

Dd woke with a swollen eyelid yesterday so she is now on antibiotics cream and medicine, she is like a crawling pharmacy at the moment.
Hope all is well is everyone else
hazellnut-congrats to your dd

Hazellnut · 16/01/2006 10:59

How's Roo - and sorry to hear about your dd PJSmum - not what you needed.

We can join the ill gang too - dd was up most of the night with a cough. Well not really much of a cough but you know when you need to cough and your breathing is a bit rough. she did go off between about 4 and 8 (she did have some short sleeps before that) and woke up almost her usual self other than this cough.

Isn't winter great ?!

Hazellnut · 16/01/2006 11:37

Also meant to say that, we went to look at car seats yesterday and tried both the m&p and the Maxi Cosi priori xp and decided to go with the maxi cosi as it actually felt more secure in our car (and was much simpler to get in !) and they were suprised to hear that the m&p had come out better than the maxi cosi in the report so Tipex, think this one is absolutely fine !

mind you, we've had to order one so will have to wait as dh wasn't happy with any of the colours they had in stock (what a ponce !).

gossifer · 16/01/2006 13:02

Hazellnut · 16/01/2006 19:19

hello again - good to see you back goss although sorry to hear about computer and car probs.

Keep meaning to tell you that we got a kew membership for christmas so may well bump into you there one day (it was you saying a while ago you had one wasn't it or am I going mad ?!!)

SL - how was EddieCatz ? I have a very good friend that lives in putney with 2 girls so it would be interesting to know what it was like.

Hazellnut · 16/01/2006 19:20

Also meant to say, you are brave Goss getting out on the social scene - we had people to dinner on saturday night and drunk far too much and it was sooo hard getting up with dd the next day ! But glad you are enjoying yourself

picnikel · 16/01/2006 19:31

Hi all,
Hope Roo's feeling better & poor Pjmum's dd's sticky eye - is nursery & sleep going any better?

Big congrats to your dd on the walking, HN. They are such proper little poeple now, it's so lovely.

What games do oyur littlies enjoy? Would love some ideas. Dd likes opening cupboards and climbing stairs.....She likes the usual singing & bouncing and loves being chased but it's all a bit repetitive so need some inspiration!

games:

pulling the washing out of the machine/pulling hanging washing on the floor
loves the swings/slide
walking around with his pushalong/sitting in his pushalong/taking things in and out of said pushalong
pulling all the wipes out the packet
hide and seek
will think of more

how is the roo?

ps thanks, nice to be missed tipex and HN!!!

starlover · 16/01/2006 21:43

hello everyone!

roosmum... hope roo is feeling a bit better now. it's horrible when they're ill isn't it? you just feel so helpless

goss... good to see you back! but about the puter and car. it's always the way isn'ti t? just when you think you're doing ok something seems to break/go wrong! grrrr

hazellnut... it ended up just being me and lockets! lol... so we went to a different place, called it's a kids thing, which is in earlsfield, just down road from lockets. it was very fab and Linus had a great time in the ball pit.

There was however a little thug there (around 2.5/3ish i reckon) who i saw kicking another child in the head!!! anyway i kept my eye on him and he then jumped on top of linus in the ball pit!
Anyway i just saw red... real maternal instinct kicked in and i dragged him off Linus and said "Don't you DARE do that again!"
i was quite shocked at myself but this weird protective thing just kicked right in and i had to do something... said kid kept eyeing me up warily the whole rest of the time we were there!!! lol

nik... fave games are: pulling anything down from anywhere he isn't supposed to be able to reach, playing with his big car, toilet roll/kitchen roll tubes, poking cotton buds on/in things, singing songs, watching tv , playing horsey on my leg. fave thing right now is books though... it's all he wants all day. am so bored of blimmin poppy cat!

anyway, other news in our house is that the i'coo is broken and kiddicare are most definitely NOT being very helpful with repair/refund/replacement

SnowmAngeliz · 16/01/2006 21:47

Oh poor poorly babies!
Hope they get better soon.

Thanks for all the Congratulations
(Am hormonal bitch from hell at the moment, only nice on mumsnet!!!)

I will print this out along with my pregnancy ones with Amelia to look back on oneday. I have joined the September thread but it's wierd doing it all again so soon when i feel i'm just getting to know you all.!!

On the games front, Amelia just loves taking things out and chucking them over her shoulder, she's not fussed what, clothes, toys. She also loves watching me biuld blocks to whack them down, playing anything with her sister.
It was so funny yesterday, Amelia got hold of the T.V remote and pointed it and turned the telly over, DD1 was indignant, 'i was watching that Amelia!!' Let the fun begin!
The little one has been really, really clingy today, won't be put down to play at all, don't know what's up with her.
I'm feeling a bit guilty reading about all the groups and things you guys go to as i haven't taken her to any social things yet. Well, she's well socialised as she's forever with dd and friends and cousins but i've not done something just for her yet. I've discovered a playgroup at the Church opposite dd1's School where i can go and it finishes at 3 in time to get dd1 so i'll let you know! Just don't know where my days go.

Hope Roo is much better and pjsmum, hope dd's eye is better soon too++

Thanks again for all Congratulations, you're all lovely

SnowmAngeliz · 16/01/2006 21:49

Oh starlover i wish Amelia would watch T.V now and again. It just doesn't seem to grab her at all, i used to get a little peace with dd1 as she would be in a trance but Amelia is not!

Where was the other kid's mam??

starlover · 16/01/2006 21:54

angeliz... i am quite bad and often just leave the tv on in the background. he ignores it a lot of the time but every now and then something grabs his attention and he'll stand/sit quietly and watch.
it's normally teletubbies unfortunately!

No idea where this kids mum was at the time... not watching him though, that's for sure!

SnowmAngeliz · 16/01/2006 21:58

O.K i'm going to try the teletubbies tomorrow

Come to think of it, when dd1 has her T.V on it's not really for Amelia is it , i must try to find something age appropriate for her. Not that i'm gonna stick her there for good but a little peace now and again would be great.

A few months ago dd1 was in a soft play area away playing with her friends and came back crying. Some older girls had cornered them and hit them. If i'd have found them.........well, it's probably a goods job i didn't.
