New thread just for you star!

Well, hopefully not just for you, or it could get a bit boring talking to yourself Grin.

Ah ok. So next year with christmas on a Monday, there will be no 27th bank holiday? Just 25+ 26? Or not until the next year when Xmas eve is not a weekend, too?
Btw my local council website said bins would be collected even on bank hols over Christmas. Today is our day and bin and recycle box both untouched Hmm

I didn't know that about antihistamines pistachio, and I don't think that most of my guru friends do either! Do you have a link to any research/results that I can share?
Sorry to hear that you are so ill with sinuses too Sad.

Sad myjob. I know what you mean though. I don't see how I could ever have a day off either!

When do you start teaching dc to wipe their own bottom?
Can your dc completely dress themselves?
Q can get basics of clothing on but I dress him mostly because it's easier
Bottom wiping haven't even touched yet because I don't think he'd get himself properly clean.

Q is able to do more than he is willing to do in terms of dressing himself. But I like to dress him...

HavePatience · 29/12/2011 22:58

Nutcracker tomorrow - so excited :)
I've never been to the O2. Just Q and I. Fun!

Hi all, lovely Christmas here with both sides of the family and now we are enjoying some time together just the three of us. We went to the zoo yesterday and the Natural History museum today. Good times Smile

Sorry to hear about illness Pistachio, CSWS and Myjob. Well done on your fantastic weight loss CSWS, do you feel full of energy?

I feel so lardy this week and really need to stop eating Christmas junk. I'm contemplating finding some gym classes for next week. I'm spurred on to get healthy by my decision that it's finally the right time to try for another dc and the fear that as I'll be 35 in May I may need everything working for and not against me Blush

HP ds can dress himself and is so stubborn he won't let anyone help. He wipes his own bum at Nursery (according to him) but still considers that as my job at home Grin

I wanted to ask a question too, a bit morbid but how have you broached the subject of death with your dc? If you have? I went with J to lay some flowers for my nan last week at the cemetery and I just told him it was a place to remember her. He didn't seem too concerned but did ask if she would come and get them Smile I basically skirted round talking about death as he is so young but what would anyone advise I say when the issue does arise? It just made me realise I'm totally unprepared for that discussion!

Oh HP enjoy the ballet too. Have you been to the O2 before? There are lots of restaurants and they now have a Wagamamas just outside the main entrance.

HavePatience · 30/12/2011 09:04

Ohhhh wagamama! Grin hooray!
Dh and I have disagreed on how to talk about death with Q. He is so precious!

HP I haven't even asked Dh his opinion on what we should tell ds BlushGrin Oh well! Better had I suppose.

Thanks Pistachio that all makes sense and I think I'll go down that matter of fact route too when I have to. Ds does forest school and so we do a lot of talking about not picking living things because they'll die as it's one of the Forest School rules. I have no idea about the 'where do babies come from' response to give. Ds knows they grow in tummies as my sil was pg this year so we talked about it then. I remember my Dad explaining the facts of life to me and my brother. I was 9 and he was 4 and my mum was pg with my youngest brother. She helpfully got him a book from the library then disappeared. I remember being a bit horrified and I don't think I'd even considered such things before hand Grin

Pp I didn't ask dh either but when there was a dead bird and Q asked what it was, dh told him he was sleeping and would go fly away soon HmmHmm
I'm a matter of fact person with that stuff as well and believe in telling it like it is with my students so I was a bit HmmConfused by dh's reaction. Anyway...
Are you going to TTC soon? How exciting! Grin
Myjob - read your fb and GrinSmileGrinSmile so happy for you for your rest! xx

HavePatience · 31/12/2011 15:39

I anyone celebrating NYE? We can't go out, because dh is afraid Q will wake and be scared that we aren't there Hmm arghhhh
But hopefully will have fun staying in.
He also makes sure Q is asleep before he ever goes out. It's so stupidly precious it's driving me crazy! I went out for lunch with a friend the other day and I know he was shocked that I'd choose Q's waking hours to go out.
Nutcracker was great fun! Q was thrilled by the size of the venue at first, too. All good except nasty lady in front of us (see fb). Wink
