Grace can also drink out of a cup and use a straw. I get a lot of comments about it too, we must all have very talented babies!

BangWentMyTriangle · 19/01/2012 10:30

Hello! Feels like ages since I've posted but I've been reading. Not busy with work really, just slobbing and enjoying me time after a manic Nov/Dec.
J loves carrying a small mug around with him and slurping out of it but I don't put anything in it cos I know he'll spill it all over and I can't be bothered to clean up all the time Blush
He still has his tippee cup and I haven't tried a straw but know younger ones than J that are great at using them.

Going through a funny stage at the mo. Mum and I take J to different play groups and he's started being incredibly shy. Yesterday he just stood amongst toys and 3 other lo's and just stood there looking miserable. Like he was afraid to get stuck into anything and wouldn't let me leave his side AT ALL! At one point I literally moved 3 ft to sit down and he just stood, frozen to the spot and sobbed his little heart out Sad and did the same thing with Mum a few days ago. He's never been clingy for me (secretly quite enjoyed the attention) so wonder if it's a phase rather than his personality iyswim?

4 different people have asked if he's coming down with something/teeth coming but he's otherwise been totally fine Confused

sassy I very much agree with lumpy's comment though we got lots of different opinions before deciding to get J's helmet so maybe another consultation could give you more peace of mind??

Got some bath crayons from Tesco last week! Ohhhhhhhh how he loves them...... got to go and clean his masterpiece off the back of the bathroom door today though! Grin

Oh.... wonder if any of you fancy following my Pinterest pages? here

Debs75 · 20/01/2012 13:53

JUust a quick post as the girls are driving me mad
Got weighed today and 15st 6lb. Not as bad as I thought but not as good either. Have been stuck around 15st for 4 years now but desperately want to lose some before the wedding in August

cinnamongreyhound · 20/01/2012 19:34

I was 15st 2lb when I started in November Debs75, getting close to 2st off now and I seriously had no willpower, not sure where it came from though!!

lumpylumps · 20/01/2012 19:44

So, all you wonderully successful dieters, what is your plan?! Are you exercising? what kind of things are you eating?

OP posts:
sassy34264 · 20/01/2012 19:56

Sassy don't be sorry you've got to do what you've got to do! I've just eaten a pizza, half a tube of pringles and an ice cream and I'm not bf'ing! I also had a subway for tea last night but I'm just going to be extra good next week amd hope it cancels it out. I'm even thinking of doing the special k diet for a couple of weeks I am desperate to get back to what I used to be. I have to be careful tho as I have had issues with eating in the past (not eating enough) not exactly an eating disorder but close. I have to weigh myself at my mums as I won't allow myself to have scales and every week she asks me if I'm being sensible.

Speaking of my mum, she ordered some concert tickets for me in december and I txt her last night to say my friend had sent her money so I'd give it my mum today and I'd give her my money (£55) next week. And she txt me back to say she didn't want me to pay her back cause I do a great job bringing grace up and she wants to treat me to a night out! She's also paying for grace's next pair of next shoes (that we've got to get tomorrow cause her first pair are too small all of a sudden). I love my mum!!!

I agree don't be sorry sassy34264, you need to do what's right for you! We had babies 16 months ago you had one 3 months ago!! There is a thing on weight watchers for nursing mums might be worth looking at of you want to keep trying but is really not worth worry about for months.

In answer to lumpylumps I have cut down my portion sizes and stopped the ridiculous amounts I was snacking (whole big bag of revels/half a choc chip brioche/half packet of boasters you get the idea!). I have got my fitness pal on my phone which allows you to calorie count and has most foods on there already! I'm between 1300 and 1500 most days. I am running c25k too, did first run of week 4 today- 3m run, 90s walk, 5m run, 2m walk repeated twice with warm up and down walking.

Luke has a horrible cold today, snot and dribble streaming, high temp without ibuprofen/calpol and crying at almost everything plus very clingy to mummy :(. Got a crappy course tomorrow so hope he's ok with daddy! Found a groupon for our local bowling alley 6 people bowling, chips and a soft drink each for £8.50 so think we'll go there Sunday Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 20/01/2012 20:22

Oh yeah and yay for your mum newmum001! Hope you have a fab time, my mum likes to look after me too as she knows I always put myself last!

BangWentMyTriangle · 20/01/2012 20:46

Sad Sad day here today........ wouldn't post about it but I do want advice on what to do:
We were at a funeral today for DH's Aunt and when we got home our neighbour popped in to tell us that our friends/neighbours had a nightmare last night. Charlotte is 10 years younger than me, married her DH a few years ago after having their 3 lo's. Ethan has DSyndrome and is her middle child. Her father collapsed in the street and died just before Christmas. He only lived 2 doors away so was really close to all the family. They were all devastated obviously and still mourning him........ last night the children's dad was carrying the eldest upstairs to bed and fell..... down the stairs and was out cold...... life support was turned off earlier today :(
It just doesn't seem real............... what will she do? How will she survive with no income? What can I do to help? When is too soon to ask if we can do anything? Oh........ the poor, poor girl :(

cinnamongreyhound · 20/01/2012 21:05

That is so sad bangwentmytriangle, I think I'd give her a few days to let it all settle in but it depends how close you are too. She will be fine without an income, we're very lucky in this country that people are looked after so she will be able to claim benefits. Hopefully she has some life insurance too. After we had Luke we got life insurance for me as I didn't have any since I started childminding. I can't imagine how I'd cope without dh, I don't know how single mums manage. In that situation I probably wouldn't want outside help though, but that's just me.

newmum001 · 20/01/2012 21:05

Fuckin hell beadit! Excuse the language but that is such a horrible thing to happen! Beyond horrible, the poor girl! I have no real advice as I'm really not sure what I'd do. Tbh I'd maybe go round soonish to offer any help as it sounds to me like she's really going to need it. The poor girl!

comixminx · 20/01/2012 21:09

oh christ Bang, what an awful story. Absolutely devastating. Are you good friends or a bit more casual? If the former I'm sure there are basic things like taking food round and helping with babysitting or anything like that that is necessary, that you could be doing right away.

The money thing may or may not be an issue - I assume you don't know whether the dad had life insurance or a work death in service benefit or anything like that? I suppose in any case they will be short of cash until anything comes through so you might be able to help by buying a big shop so that she doesn't have to worry about it, maybe?

Awful awful.

BangWentMyTriangle · 20/01/2012 21:16

There are still no lights on at her house so maybe they're all still at the chapel in the hospital or with friends??? She's not really close in that we'd have gone out together but I literally speak to a member of her family just about everyday as our street is a bit like a halls of residence....... all really friendly. She gave us her travel cot, moses basket etc etc and her eldest plays in our garden in the summer as they don't have one. She has a heart of gold, truly but I think she must be absolutely broken Sad

newmum001 · 20/01/2012 21:34

Do you have her mobile number or house phone? Maybe give her a ring as face to face might be very difficult. I honestly don't know what I'd do but I like the idea of doing a shop for her if you think she wouldn't be offended by it.

Debs75 · 21/01/2012 19:13

Oh beadit that is awful. Maybe offer to watch the kids or make her a meal. Things will be tight for a while until she sorts out insurance or benefits but at least she has family close.

SASSY dont worry about the diet, feeding Eva is more important.

LUMPY I am just healthy eating, trying to avoid crappy foods and cutting portion sizes. Am also walking more and swimmimg with the kids. Once I lose a stone I can go back horseriding as well.

Got Lucy her first shoes today, she is a 3 and a half g and the shoes make her feet look huge. They are called Softly Lucy so are perfect for her.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/01/2012 19:40

She must be such a dot Debs75, Luke is a 5 1/2 G!

comixminx · 21/01/2012 21:57

Took Aphra to have her feet re-measured today (she got her first pair of cruising shoes 6 weeks ago exactly) - she is now a 4G, gone up from a 3.5 G 6 weeks ago.

lumpylumps · 22/01/2012 07:20

Beady beyond awful. Like the others say, all you can do is let her know you're there. I never know what to say because nothing ever seems good enough so I just send a message of kisses!

Ollys still a 2.5 F! Ds1 has only just gone into a 6.5F. He could have stayed in his 6Fs but they were really scruffy, he'd had them about 9 months! The girl said he'd grown into them but not out of them! At least I won't have to worry about the expense of shoes at this rate!

I'm trying the healthy eating & cutting down on crap. I'd got to the point where I was eating almost a whole packet of biscuits a day at work! Dh & I were wondering last night tho, whats worse, a night on the town with lots of alcohol & a kebab or a chinese, bottle of red & 500g bar of dairy milk?!

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 22/01/2012 08:16

I would have thought the night out is still worse, more alcohol, more calories and definitely more fat although less sugar lumpylumps. I take mine every 6-8 weeks and they almost always need new shoes!!! Ds1 is a 12G and his socks say 6-10 years, he's not even 5 yet. Dh is an 8 and I'm 6-7 depending on the shoe so not massive feet, not see where it comes from!

I am 83.1kg this morning/ 13st 4lb.

My course was not too bad yesterday, got a few ideas but really didn't need to be 6 hours long. Got a lovely Sunday with my boys now though. Dh's birthday on Friday so we are off to whipsnade next weekend Grin

patito · 22/01/2012 09:55

Beadit Cant imagine what your neighbour is going through. Sad.

Id go with going round and taking something (prepared meal) or a concrete offer to take kids out (Suggest taking them day/time). Id go for that as a simple "can I help you?" is hard to respond to, people dont tend to like to ask for things even in times of crisis.

Maia can blow her nose! It´s so sweet, she´s got a heavy cold and I wipe and say "blow" and she does! Im amazed but then I do tend to get a bit giddy when either of the DC´s do anything new like that. First attemps at writing with DS warrented whoops and highfives for ever stroke of the pen Blush. God help me when they go to school and theres plays and sports days.

Must get off, as DP has taken kids out so I can tidy up and prepare dinner. So far I´ve had a cuppa and piece of cake whilst MN-ing.

Have a lovely Sunday!
