Cinnamon you're doing so well on your diet! You've lost loads! You too sassy! I weighed myself on friday and was 14st 10lbs which is a 2 and 3 quarter pound loss in 5 days which I was very pleased with!

Debs75 · 15/01/2012 21:53

No Cinnamon I could go on for a while. My mum was one of 5, my dad was one of 8 and my gran was one of 11. I love big families, although I have seen how they tend to split when older and lots of siblings doesn't always make it easier to care for sick parents. Money is stopping us but also my health. Diabetes meant Lucy and dd2 were smaller and delivered sooner and I would love a home birth or water birth and I can't see that happening.
Good going with the running as well. I think I could just about do 90s run and then walk, not sure I could run again though without asthma seriously trying to kill me. the cold wouldn't help either. I might get some scales so I can join you in some weight loss. Got a wedding to go to in August and have some serious weight to shift

lumpylumps · 15/01/2012 23:58

I think I've just had a panic attack! Does anyone have any experience of them?? Please don't laugh at this! I went to bed feeling sick, was convinced I had a bug. This lasted about 15 mins then it felt like my heart was adding an extra beat. This was obviously then going to cause a heart attack & suprise suprise the chest tightness and aching arm started! I felt horrible, shakey & the most horrendous feeling of dread. I've ended up having a bath & am now sat catching up on wild at heart. I feel loads better but daren't go to bed incase it comes back! It was awful, I often get feelings of dread and worry about things beyond my control but this was on a complete different level. Its really scared me. Sad

That does sound like a panic attack lumpy, I've only ever had one when I was younger and was 2 days into a job I knew I wasn't cut out for but it started off with a massive feeling of dread, then palpitations and feeling dizzy and sick and shaky. Went outside for some fresh air and started shaking uncontrolably then burst into tears. I quit the job there and then. I've never had a panic attack since but I do sometimes get palpitations when I'm stressed. Hope you feel better today!

yeah lumpy it sounds like one. i had two when i was working in my last job. i felt my heart going funny and then i just couldnt breath. i was shaking and crying and i was convinced i must have low blood pressure cos i just felt light headed and shaky. i would get palpitations every day and once they started,. they wouldnt stop. i would have to go to bed and they would be gone by morning. doctor diagnosed anxiety and i resigned from my job. had palpitations once since.

not really much you can do, except remove/neutralise the thing that is causing anxiety- easier said than done. xxx

The devil is alive and well and living in my mouth!!! My tooth will not heal and i have not been able to sleep at all for the past week. On top of that the only thing that gives me any relief in nurofen plus and Im not supposed to take anything high in ibuprofen! Feel like crap and totally fed up with pain. Now dreading stomach kicking in.

On the baby front. I know Im not having another - age finance health etc but I fully expect to feel broody. I think once you experience a baby and that lovely time a part of you will always want it again no matter how fab your children are. Its nature isnt it?? I find it easier to deal with knowing that its normal and its cause I loved that time with my wee ones.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/01/2012 13:39

I have no experience of panic attacks but doesn't sound pleasant lumpylumps. My friend has panic attacks caused by a drug she took to stop smoking, she sees someone about it through the nhs and she teaches her how to cope when she starts to feel panicked and hopefully not get to the point of an attack. She found it very difficult to leave the house at one point, hasn't had one for a while apart from when she broke down on A47 and caused a 9 mile tail back.

I found it on here Debs75 and there is a woman on the thread who has bad asthma and is struggling but is still making progress. The majority of the women on it are overweight too so I think we're all doing well :)

So sorry to hear your tooth is giving so much trouble MammyG, what is the dentist doing about it? Fingers crossed your stomach proves stronger than you expect and you don't get any other problems.

patito · 16/01/2012 13:42

lumps Hope your feeling better. Never had a panic attack so don´t know what there like. Are you feeling stressed about something inparticular that could´ve triggered it?

MammyG Could you try a homepathic remedy (Cant suggest as I haven´t got a clue!) but if you can´t take other painkiller might help trying something else. Hope your find something to ease it.

Maia seems to have come on loads all of a sudden. She´s dpoing loads of new things and has loads of new words. This weekend we were at a friends house, Maia found the potty, pulled down her trousers and said "pee pee" Shock. She hasn´t even seen a potty as DS never liked it so he´s been using normal toliet since before she was born. Then the next day she was trying to climb onto the toliet at home saying "pee-pee". I dont think she´s trying to toliet train herself yet but she´s just so observant. I dont remeber DS doing stuff like that then.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/01/2012 13:46

Oh yeah have you tried clove oil MammyG? One of my mums recommended it when dh had a terribly painful tooth and it really helped, just be careful where you put your fingers afterwards. Lets just say clove oil on testicles can be a tad uncomfortable Grin Wink Shock Blush

MammyG · 16/01/2012 14:27

Oh Cinnamon so funny! not if you are the guy obviously but haha!!

Phoebe walked!! - a full ten steps across the kitchen floor. DH recorded it and sent it into work to me!! Am so chuffed - it was all lovely and heavy flat footed. Cant wait to get home this evening and see her in action!!

lumpylumps · 16/01/2012 16:16

Yey, go Phoebe! and boo about the tooth!! cinnamon chilli on your fingers has a similar effect!

Thanks everyone. I felt myself getting panicky again today on my way out for lunch with my friends. I managed to hold it off tho! I don't know what triggered it tho and thats the problem although I do have an unhealthy fear of death, not just me but people I love. I don't think that helps. I've been feeling stressed a lot just because of the work/home balance. I hate going to work & I don't think the woman on friday (collegue, can't remember who asked!) helped. I don't like feeling like this. I constantly feel sick & worried. Think I might have to take a trip to the GP! Its as if I'm living my life waiting for something awful to happen & its taking its toll!

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 16/01/2012 19:24

Definitely take a trip to the gp lumpylumps! Hope you feel happier with everything soon.

Go phoebe!!! Bless her! Ds1 didn't walk until 16 months and then he was off!

comixminx · 17/01/2012 08:21

Go Phoebe indeed! Now that she's started, there'll be no stopping her...

Lumpy, sorry to hear about your panic attacks. As others say, do go to the GP - best not to let it get hold otherwise you'll be getting worried about getting one as well as stressed about the source of the original one if you see what I mean! Sounds horrible, poor you.

Dixiebell · 17/01/2012 15:13

Yay for Phoebe! And yay for my Arlo too, I finally have my happy little boy back. Was starting to think it wasn't illness but a personality change. But no it was actually a double ear infection. One lot of antibiotics later (the less said about the fun and games getting those down him, and the gagging when I made him swallow them, and my eventual victory with the syringe technique the better!), and he is happy, hungry and lovely again. Still just as fussy with any food other than cheese on toast or spag bol, but I'll take that over not eating anything at all, and crying all day long. So happy, we had a lovely weekend of shopping, walking and playing, and I'm feeling a lot better from my illness too, makes you appreciate the everyday wellness so much more when you've spent 3 weeks all feeling ill and miserable! Arlo is getting to be a real cheeky chappy, he gets this cheeky look on his face when he knows he's doing something he shouldn't, like taking things out of the bin instead of putting them in, and it's so hard not to laugh and encourage him even more. Current obsession = balloons, not blown up but blowing them up and then letting them deflate whilst he's holding them. Hours of fun...Hmm Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 17/01/2012 18:11

So glad you got the bottom of it Dixiebell and you are all feeling better!

sassy34264 · 18/01/2012 14:38

happy you got to the bottom of it dixiebell. poor thing. mine always get really poorly with ear infections. glad hes back to his old self. x

im having a really shit time of it at minute. nothing major, just the crying/feeding not sleeping through growth spurt phase! so knackered. had a 3 hour nap yesterday with eva ( who still feed twice though it) while dp had j&i downstairs and im still shattered!

watched the programme 15 children and counting last night and they make me look inadequate! they really are supermums!

eva had her hip scan today. not sure what to think. apparently hip angles are supposed to be at 60% and hers is at 62.8% he said she is boderline, but he is happy to sign her off. so shes not considered normal but only just. just wondering how far over normal you have to be before its considered not normal? dont want to sound neurotic (sp?) but just left feeling like shes not what shes supposed to be and why is that? iyswim? have no doctors in my life, but a few nurses. but no offence to you lumpy as im sure you are brilliant, but the ones i know, scare me with their lack of knowledge at times. (one asked me if jacob and isobel are identical, after she knew it was a boy and girl? Hmm

newmum001 · 18/01/2012 15:25

Oooh I've had the best day ever, dp's mum has had grace since 9.30 this morning and will be bringing her back at 4ish and I've done absolutely nothing all day! Just watched tv and been lazy, it's been amazing! Grace's back teeth are taking forever to come through and the last 2 weeks have been really difficult with night wakings, constant tantrums and whinging at everything so I've really appreciated having a break today. I can't wait for her to get home though, I miss her now!

Sassy can you not maybe get a second oppinion on eva's hip? I think if the dr was happy to sign her off personally I'd try not to worry about it but if you are worried then look into it a bit further. Sorry you're so tired too!

I went to see my friends baby last night, he's 10 days old and utterly adorable!

cinnamongreyhound · 18/01/2012 16:57

It can't be easy sassy34264 and you are always harder on yourself! Don't forget that in those huge families they have the oldest children to help out with the youngest ones. I've only watched the beginning but they didn't look so great, and none of the ones I saw had a small baby either. With our current culture of suing everyone left right and centre I think if there was a worry they would do something as they are terrified of it coming back afterwards. I know how you feel as I would worry and get a second opinion if you are not happy but be happy your baby doesn't need to be in a cast for months.

Quick question for you all, I have had three people comment in the last week about Luke drinking from a cup as if it was amazing! I can't remember when ds1 did it Blush and just wondered if all the others were doing similar, maybe I'm just not easily impressed!

Luke is starting to say more words now which is lovely! Before he called everything a cat but has now grasped dog and can moo and baa Grin. He can say no, down, car, water and few other things that I'm not 100% convinced of yet. He is also answering me in babble but it's very dilberate like he properly formulating an answer.

Dixiebell · 18/01/2012 17:08

cinnamon, Arlo can drink from a cup (and isn't mummy's drink always more interesting than what's in his beaker?!) but more often than not he tips it up too far and gets soaked down his front.

Great when they suddenly have a word spurt isn't it? Arlo hasn't had any new ones for a while, but has loads and is really very good with the ones he does have, he points and says 'mooooon', 'star', 'bubbles', 'lights' and of course his favourites 'no' and 'more more' (biscuits usually!) :)

cinnamongreyhound · 18/01/2012 19:08

Yes Dixiebell, can't remember the last time I finished a cup of tea during the day! Luke doesn't tip it up too much, he picks it up drinks and puts it down.

lumpylumps · 18/01/2012 19:40

No offence taken at all sassy ask me about leg ulcers, pressure sores, bladders or bowels & I can answer it. Ask me anything about anything else and I probably know no more than you! Its worth considering tho that the treatment she would have to have would be too much for such a borderline problem if that makes sense. Drs are reluctant to intervene unless they really have to for risk of complications etc.

Cinnamon Olly can also drink out of a cup. Has done for a while and suprised me when he did. He's also really good with a straw which seems to impress people!

We went to a soft play place on mon & Olly was bullied. A horrible little boy kept taking his mussie (he's totally attached to it no. a real comfort blanket!) I found him crying & the boy had it again. I told him to give it back & he sat on it so he couldn't get it. He was really mean & I couldn't get it off him because it'd have meant being quite rough with him because of where he'd got himself! He finally gave it back as his mum came over. I was very polite but wanted to tell her that her little shit had been bullying my baby! Sad

Debs75 · 18/01/2012 22:26

Lucy doesn't like cups but she is great with straws. She prefers them to beakers.

Sassy What made you think something was wrong with Eva's hips? We have a family history with hips, my cousin was born with dislocated hips and spent a fair few months in plaster and my nephew had perthes and spent several years in plaster and in hospital and another cousin was put in a hip spiker(sp)(cast from toes to waist and legs stretched) at only 18m. Lumpy is right to go through that amount of discomfort would only be worth it if there was risk of deformation. It sounds like Eva is just at the edge of accepted normal ranges but she is still perfect.

newmum001 · 18/01/2012 22:26

Grace can also drink out of a cup and use a straw. I get a lot of comments about it too, we must all have very talented babies!
