Dp keeps saying the same thing about grace sassy! She thrives on having a job to do or someone to play with. She's constanbtly trashing the house, breaking toys, smacking, biting and having tantrums recently and I'm so fed up with it! I'm sure it's because she's bored but unfortunately the cleaning/washing/ironing etc won't do it'self and dp doesn't really help during the week cause he's at work then wants to play with grace when he gets home which is perfectly understandable and I wouldn't want it any other way but I am finding it very hard the older she gets to keep on top of everything as well as keep her entertained. On the bright side one of her favourite things to do is load the washing machine and help me wash up. I know I should relax about the housework but I can not stand it being a mess. It's only quite a small house so it looks untidy very very quickly! Ahh well dp finishes work today so at least there's two of us to keep her entertained for a week or so.

It's funny you say that sassy because I find that orlaith's better behaved when she's been out to the park for a bit of a run and some fresh air! newmum do you get the chance to take grace out for a walk or to the park each day? I find if I take the time to do that then the rest of the day she's easier to look after and I can then get more done.

newmum001 · 23/12/2011 19:08

Yeah saoirse for my sanity and hers we go out for a couple of hours a day at least. Depending on what kind of day we're having (hectic or relaxed ish) then I either go to the park to tire her out or to the shops so she can have a rest in the pram, we also go to mums and tots on a wednesday morning, see dp's mum one day a week and spend every friday with my mum. Just done our xmas food shopping taking advantage of the fact that my mum and sister are off work and left grace with them (busy shops and a restless child are my idea of hell) so we've got lots of yummy food and booze in the house! Yay!

lumpylumps · 23/12/2011 19:32

Sounds like we're siding towards manchester then. When?????

Newmum thats where having more than 1 child is easy. Ds1 helps to keep Olly entertained!

My friends dd bites. She's tried everything to stop her and nothing works. She's been in tears numerous times because she doesn't know what to do with her. It's improved a lot as she's got older because it was a frustration thing. Although its never acceptable it was always understandable because she was always provoked & didn't know how else to react.

My friend is an old friend. She's had a lot on in her life, lost both her parents (she's 52) in the last year. Its really sad for her but she never talks about things and never explains things. She's been a pretty crap friend since I had ds1 really, the total opposite to how I thought she'd be. It'd just be nice if once in a while she acknowledged that she's in the wrong. I'll often say "sorry if i've been a bit distant/mardy etc, just struggling a bit!" or something along those lines. I've got a bit fed up lately of treating everyone how I'd like to be treated but never actually being treated that way! Oh, poor poor me, I'm so hard done by Xmas Grin

Merry christmas!!!

Happy Christmas Eve Eve! Xmas Grin
I'm so tired I can barely type so won't say much other than about the meet up. Leeds would def get my vote for selfish reasons but Manchester isn't far me either so not really fussed. There's a great play gym near me that we could have for 2 hours any day of the week for 12 children and it's £80. Includes kids food too. It's just not in the city center so unsure what we'd all do from there..... I bet there are loads of venue spaces available in Leeds so I can look into it if we decide Leeds is the place but happy to go along with somewhere else if it gets the majority.
Hope everyone has a gorgeous Christmas! xxxxxxxx

DecTheHallsWithbeaditAli · 23/12/2011 19:58

Oh Lumps we built Jack's kitchen last night..... took us 1.5 hours.. you'll need a very, very small screw driver! Good luck! Xmas Grin

Debs75 · 24/12/2011 09:59

I would prefer Leedss as it is closer but Manchester is doable.
Beadit I think we have more then 12 kids between us, we can do a headcount though.
I'll have 2.

Lucy is being a pain getting to sleep, it took me 3 attempts to get her in her cot and then she got in with me when I went to bed.
I have all the presents wrapped now, just need to get some bread and milk and some pj's for DS and a parcel to collect from the post office. Then pick DS up from respite and I am done for Cristmas.

Hope you all have a Happy Christmas XXXXXXX

Dixiebell · 24/12/2011 21:01

Merry Christmas everyone. We are on the M1 currently, heading for w.yorkshire to dh mum's. 3 hours gone, 1 to go! Arlo keeps letting out little cries from the backseat poor boy but has slept most the way, the night travelling plan working, and I hear the M1 is the best place to spot father Christmas Xmas Grin. Have a lovely day tomoro everyone.

cinnamongreyhound · 25/12/2011 13:41

Merry Christmas everyone!! I am sitting in the car waiting for the AA to try and fix dh's bike Xmas Sad. He broke down on way to work so in had to go and get him take him to work and am now back at the bike waiting as if they can't fix it he will have to wait for a tow truck. Not how I intended to spend Christmas but trying to smile!!

Luke hardly opened anything and just wandered around taking everyone else's opened presents! His favourites were ds1's tube of jelly earns and the box to my pandora bead! I got two lovely necklaces made by a very talented lady Xmas Wink, a new coat, mittens and a pandora bead with a smiley sun on it. Dss and ds1 were very happy but not quite so much now as most toys are home and they're stuck in the car!

Hope anyone travelling has had a safe journey and everyone who is lnt is snug at home, have a wonderful day all of you x

mapletrees · 25/12/2011 17:35

Merry Christmas everyone!

Sorry I've been away for so long - computer troubles at home (never let a one year old 'type' Angry) and can't mn at work. Should all be sorted after Christmas so I can catch up properly... Have I missed anything? Wink Grin

saoirse86 · 25/12/2011 21:16

Happy christmas everyone!

cinnamon last year we had a breakdown too, not fun! I hope you're home and having a relaxing evening finally. Xmas Smile

I think I've decided that from now on we stay at home for Christmas, I just hate all the family politics about who we see and who we spend most time with. Grrr! Xmas Angry Much better now we're on the sofa watching eastenders having a cup of tea.

maple I think the biggest thing you've missed is comix's pregnancy! Xmas Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 28/12/2011 17:49

Just posting as I lost you!

Also missed plans for another meet up Mapletrees, we have 3 for Manchester and 3 for Leeds at the moment. I'm planning to go by train so perhaps we could meet somewhere along the route!

Debs75 · 29/12/2011 19:48

Hope you all had a Happy Christmas.
We are currently drowning under a plastic city of noisy pink and purple toys.
THe kids enjoyed it so can't complain.
School starts next Wednesday as well so back to normality soon and chance to sort out the old toys and make some room

saoirse86 · 31/12/2011 12:15

Well it's been very quiet this week. I hope that's because you're all having a lovely time with friends and family! Xmas Smile

Happy new year to you all!

cinnamongreyhound · 31/12/2011 16:10

I've been checking daily saoirse86 but as everyone else seems to be absent I would kind of feel I was talking to myself! Happy new year to you.

Happy new year to all of you too!

Luke has been to his first birthday party today, ds1 wasn't happy to not have been invited :(

newmum001 · 01/01/2012 20:26

Hi all, happy new year!

Sorry to be depressing but we had some awful news this morning. Our very close friends lost their baby yesterday, she was only 12 weeks pregnant and was warned they'd have to be closly monitored cause she's diabetic but they'd been trying for a year before getting pregnant and they're both utterly devastated.

Sassy that's amazing news about your friend xx

saoirse86 · 01/01/2012 20:28

Oh that's lovely sassy! Grin

Hopefully there'll be a few more 2012 babies on this thread too! Wink

Debs75 · 02/01/2012 21:34

HAPPY NEW YEAR erveryone

Lucy is being a right royal pain atm. SHe is trying to drop her afternoon nap but she can't quite manage it. Coupled with the fact she hasn't been getting up till gone 10am she is conking out at about 6-7pm. Last night I tried bathing and straight to bed but as soon as she went in the cot she was wide awake and was then up till 10.30pm
We are going to try and be more ruthless with her and give her a proper wake-up time of 8am. I know she will be tired but I'm hoping she will eventually realise that she has to go to bed before 10pm.
She is also self weaning at the minute. I am doing the 'don't offer, don't refuse' and she will happily go almost all day without asking. She has learnt to say 'boob' and will pull at my top if she is hungry. IF I get her weaned then maybe I can start on dd2

Sorry to hear the bad baby news Newmum I hope they can try again
Sassy great news for your friend

MammyG · 02/01/2012 22:52

Hope everyone had a lovely hollier.
XX

cinnamongreyhound · 03/01/2012 07:57

That's lovely news sassy34264!

And very sad for your friends newmum001, I tried for 6 months with ds1 and it was heartbreaking every month so can't imagine what it's like after a year to lose a baby, really sad :(

So you have been tandem feeding since Lucy was born Debs75? Luke doesn't have a word yet just points the the chair in his room but he only has milk first thing and bedtime. Don't know how much is habit now though, he's done a few mornings without especially if I am dressed when I go down to him. Are you happy of Lucy weans?

Glad you managed to relax MammyG!

Happy New Year to everyone! We had a trip to see the baby seals yesterday, they were lovely but had two grumpy hungry children by the end. I put Luke in the sling on my back for the first time and dh was useless at following instructions to get him in but once he was in was fine. He got our once we got there and walked a lot of the way back but he got hungry towards the end and cried most of the way to the car! Back to work today, although no school so first child arrives at 8.45.

I have such an independent little soul on my hands, wants to do everything himself!!! He's trying to undress himself, feeding himself most of the time now and is so cute trying to put his, and anyone else's he can get his hands on, socks on! Plus climbing on everything now too.

Had two horrible babysitting jobs on fri and sat but managed to earn a bit which is good. Waiting for my Christmas present new phone to one hopefully today. Soooooo windy here, sounds horrible outside! Really not looking forward to ds1 going back to school tomorrow, hes been so lovely the last two weeks.

BangWentMyTriangle · 03/01/2012 11:38

Boo!! Guess who?! Grin
Happy New Year lovelies! Hope all of you that got some Yorkshire bling were really happy with it! Bet you've guessed it now! Hee heeee

Had a lovely but very, very busy Christmas and Jack was so pleased to be back in his own bed after 5 nights away in 3 different houses. Seems to have learned so many things during all the festive activities but no climbing yet cinnamon. Bet Luke looks so cute scrambling over things Grin
My friends little man is 13 months and is so strong and clambers onto everything especially things that give him a better view of the t.v.
We've got more words now too..... never stops in the morning but by the afternoon it's all gobbledygook again Grin
DH and I have got the snots but just pleased to not have any work on the go so I can be lazy and slob in my dressing gown and hope that the Ali Triangle that is my studio tidies itself up and pots of beads stop landing on the floor in the middle of the night!! Hmm

I have a friend in Manchester (former Sure Start co-ordinator) so I'll give her a buzz and see if she has any pearls of wisdom for possible meet up locations there.

Quick ??? Jack has been really of his food for 2-3 days and seems really lethargic. Had 8 red spots on his back at bath time last night but down to 3 today. Fine otherwise.... wonder if he could be catching our colds tho we've had them for a week already and he's been fine..... prob nothing but just wonder if any of you notice spots that never come to anything?

Hope everyone's well! xx

Dixiebell · 03/01/2012 14:39

Happy new year everyone!

Beadit, I mean BWMT, Arlo occasionally has random spots, but usually around his face/neck, never had any on his back.

Our Christmas break wasn't as lovely as I'd have liked...DH and Arlo both got horrible colds, DH was in bed for a couple of days. Arlo went off his food completely, I told you all he was already fussy, well he stopped eating even the two things he would eat before, now refuses yoghurt, fruit, toast, even stopped drinking anything. Only thing I could get him to eat yesterday was Shreddies, and even then he spits them out if they are either too dry or too soggy! Seriously, both DH and I were in tears at the end of the day yesterday as it's been so stressful, and Arlo just seems constantly miserable. But can't tell if it's his cold, his general fussiness getting worse, the change in routine and all the travelling over Christmas, or teeth as he has a molar coming through. But the last proper meal he ate was Christmas Eve!! I'm really hoping that being back at the childminders today will nudge him back into his old self, and that he'll eat some decent food for her. I've now got the cold too so all in all we're not a happy household.

Also...sorry for the moaning!!...but we went to DH mum's for xmas. A 4 hour drive, Arlo slept okay, but I had really wanted to just stay here. And it was so stressful. She has a tiny house for the number of people, she gets so stressed herself she even broke down crying during the cooking of lunch saying she can't cope any more!! Well why invite us all and make us feel we have to visit if it's too much for you? And DH and I were sharing a room with Arlo who was coughing all night so kept us awake, what with DH's cold too it was not much fun. And Arlo refused to eat any of the food MIL had made for him. DH has vowed never to go there again!!

Aaanyway....good to get that all off my chest! Am wfh today, nice quiet intro back into it, lucky as I don't fancy commuting in this weather, Arlo and I were almost knocked off our feet by the wind when we arrived at the cm this morning!

Debs75 · 03/01/2012 15:47

Cinnamon yes tandem fed in the evenings, Dd 2 only feeds in the day if ill or hurt. I don't want to push Lucy to stop but i know in the long run it would prob be easier. As soon as we can get Lucy settling to sleep easier we can work on Dd2. She is the clingy one.
