Congratulations comix! Stupid question but what does the bf in bfp mean? I see it all the time and know it means a positive pregnancy test but why bf?

Cinnamon I completely forgot to weigh myself, will do it tomorrow although I'm sat here with a dairy milk the size of a house and a tube of pringles and dip and this is how I've been for most of the week so I'm predicting a few pounds on rather than off, seriously where is my motivation! God help me when we buy the christmas tin(s) of roses, dp and grace will be lucky if they get one!

Big fat positive newmum001

sassy34264 · 17/12/2011 10:42

yeah comix ! so happy for you. xxxxx

i've decided why its so close to christmas, id be setting myself up to fail on the eating healthy malarky. ;-) so just going to run and bike a lot instead. got 3 1\2 stones to lose to be what i was before j&i.

was thinking the other day about how it would be nice to have another meet up- i havent met anyone yet!
perhaps if we put it a lot in the future it would give us chance to get cheaper train tickets etc cos i think that was a problem in the past. i'd like to meet you all anyway. Grin

Debs75 · 17/12/2011 11:48

Congrats Comixminx

Lucy has caught the bug DC3 had. She has been throwing up for two days now. Weirdly it seems to be after a breastfeedXmas Hmm They both managed on Thursday night to puke in their beds, my bed, on me and in the bathroom. I thought Lucy was better last night and she had some beans on toast. Everything was fine and an hour later I fed her and she puked everywhere. She puked again in her cot so ended up sleeping on the sofa whilst I wrapped presents then she slept with me and DC3 in my bed. I hope she gets better today all the smell of sick is making me ill.

Sassy I would love a meetup. Would have to plan it way in advance for some cheap train tickets, maybe when the weather is a bit warmer

sassy34264 · 17/12/2011 12:01

debs i was thinking march at the earliest or even later.
i was always told not to give them milk when they have been sick- just water and dry/bland things, like toast, chips etc. so it might not be causing it, but may not agree with them on a poorly tummy iyswim. poor them an you. hope it clears up soon. im praying none of mine get ill!! although dp is here for 3 weeks at the min, so if they are going to get ill, i'd rather it was then.

saoirse86 · 17/12/2011 12:23

Congratulations comix! Xmas Grin That's so exciting for you! I'm also very jealous! We've been (half-heartedly) trying for 13 months but I've decided I want to stop for a few months as if I got pregnant soon I could have a tiny baby when I have my exams next October, or I'd have to postpone them and I really just want my degree to be over ASAP! So we might start again maybe end of february.

Orlaith has been awful the last two nights. I was working on Thursday and got back at 11.30pm and last night I was at my mum's retirement do and got ome at 11.30 again. I don't know if that's why, or maybe DP didn't do her routine very well (there were empty bottles on the sofa both mornings so I suspect he had her downstairs for her bedtime bottle, or gave her extra, not sure). Last night twice she woke up and screamed for about 45 minutes. I have no idea what that was about but it was heart breaking. Xmas Sad fingers crossed for a better night tonight.

I hope everyone's better soon Debs. Xmas Smile

lumpylumps · 17/12/2011 14:34

Yey Comix thats great news. There's 2 years 2 weeks between my boys and its a lovely age gap! How far are you?

OP posts:
comixminx · 17/12/2011 15:18

Thanks folks! It is indeed v exciting but it's also that moment when you gulp and realise that yes, you have done it, no going back now! Ideally I'd have wanted a non-pregnant christmas but then if we'd been very bothered then like you saoirse we'd have had a break.

Debs, what bad luck with all the vomit! I'd understood that breastmilk would be about the safest thing you could give in that situation, apart from water, but maybe it is a bit rich for her just now. Fingers crossed for a speedy improvement.

I'd be on for a meetup after March or so. Would be great!

saoirse86 · 17/12/2011 20:03

I'm also up for another meet up. As long as it's not st Patrick's weekend (the weekend before st Patrick's day is when the parade is so I'll be working a horrible long shift then) I'm sure I'm free as I have no life! How will we work out where's best to meet? I know last time we decided on Birmingham as it's central but it turned out most people were travelling really far. I don't mind driving north or south to meet somewhere convenient for everyone. Xmas Smile

sassy34264 · 17/12/2011 22:43

i dont mind where we meet, but i would suggest somewhere specifically for kids, ie, baby proof, cos i couldnt chase after j &i and look after eva somewhere unsafe. dp and me have enough trouble together!

lumpylumps · 18/12/2011 11:45

we need another list of where people are again! A friend of mine did a MN meet up and they included partners/husbands. They all met in the day then the fellas babysat at night while the mums went for a meal & a few drinks. If we were to do it somewhere where there's a travel lodge close by then you can get them really cheap. £19 a night. That way, those who do have to travel a long way wouldn't have to do it all in 1 day on their own which was what put me off last time!!!

OP posts:
newmum001 · 18/12/2011 15:07

To be fair travelling far doesn't really fill me with joy either, and was also what put me off last time but I will try and make the next one.

I'm just outside manchester.

cinnamongreyhound · 18/12/2011 16:12

Glad you're getting time to run and bike this time around sassy34264! I am happy to meet up again too. I think we chose birmingham last time as it was a good venue and it was geographically central but it seems there are more of us further north than south so if we have it further north there will be a few of us travelling much further but that's ok with me, I don't mind. Perhaps a community centre/village hall would be a good idea often £30-50 to hire.

Hope your dc are feeling better soon Debs75! And your sleep increases soon too saoirse86.

We got our tree today and I got some lovely photos! We are off to my mums in a bit and will decorate it when we get home Grin

saoirse86 · 18/12/2011 22:21

I'm in Birmingham. I can't complain about a potentially long journey this time seeing as i got away with a 25 minute journey last time! Xmas Wink Last time we also did food and clubbed together to pay for it. If we're all having to travel this time we may have to pay for food wherever we are, unless we bring a packed lunch! I'd also be happy with partners coming, although I doubt my DP would make it because he works 6 days, and I doubt he'd want to come anyway as he gets grumpy enough when I have 4 or 5 mum friends and babies over. Xmas Hmm

lumpylumps · 19/12/2011 18:39

saoirse Bah humbug to your man! The partners included bit was only so they could babysit so we could go out!!! He'd be doing it for you! because he loves you and you deserve a night out with a bunch of strangers Xmas Wink

i knew my dp wouldnt be too keen either. so i used much the same reasoning lumpy Grin he reluctantly agreed to do it, if thats what we end up doing. but i am a little unsure myself. mine dont sleep over at anyone elses and if they are in beds, i can forsee problems in keeping them in them! i think it might be better to do one or the other- meet for a day meeting with the kids, or get a cheap travelodge and just have it as a mum meet.

newmum001 · 19/12/2011 21:09

I'm with sassy! Grace has stayed overnight at dp's mums once or twice but she's a nightmare when she's there so I dread to think what she'd be like with us all in one room in a strange place. Also I know for a fact my dp wouldn't really want to come. I'd be more up for a daytime meet up or a night out just us.

cinnamongreyhound · 20/12/2011 09:29

I'd rather meet with the children in the day as I'm not a huge fan of going out drinking and I know I'm boring but I don't like leaving my babies overnight especially so far away!

What a nightmare day yesterday was, ds1 was really tired and whinges at everything, Luke fell asleep while we were out for a walk and then the boys woke him up and he wouldn't go back to sleep. Finally fell asleep on the sofa at 4.30, to be woken up by dh coming in and proceeded to scream until dinner was ready and fell asleep having milk. Was tired all day and so a pain in the bum and couldn't get anything done. Dh came home in a bad mood as he'd been in traffic, I was not in the best of moods que massive row about our car being at the garage an extra day and me planning to use it to meet a friend when my minded kids have gone today and then he decided to put the front on our new dishwasher while trying to cook dinner with a screaming toddler at my side. Glad to walk the dog yesterday!!!

On a positive note the suns out today and I have got into a pair of jeans I haven't worn for a while Xmas Grin.

lumpylumps · 20/12/2011 15:14

I don't mind what we do. It was just a suggestion. So so far we have Manchester, Leeds, Lincoln, birmingham.

newmum001 · 20/12/2011 15:33

I am more than up for a night out but I'd be a very bad influence and force shots down peoples throats and possibly one or more of us being sick :) oooh I think I need another night out soon :D

Dixiebell · 20/12/2011 15:48

Not that I'm a Geography geek or anything Hmm, but found this handy little site for planning meetups: www.geomidpoint.com/meet/ Don't think I'll manage to join you, as I'm down in Hampshire and might be a bit too far for me, but it looks like your geographic centre so far is a random road near Chesterfield Xmas Grin.

cinnamongreyhound · 20/12/2011 19:30

I'm in Suffolk, half way between Cambridge and Norwich.
