He's asleep now in his own room, don't know how long it'll last though.

I'm seriously considering not bfing the next one just because I don't want to go through this again. I know D could have been the same had he been bottle fed but somehow I know bfing has alot to do with it.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/10/2011 20:42

I'm not moving that bastard bed just to get rid of it, haha! Grin

No, it's his bed now, that's the way it stays. It's also useful that we still have a double in the house in case we ever need anyone to stay over, then the boys would just have to share for the night. And I like the fact that me, ds1 and ds2 can all lie on the bed together and read stores before ds2 goes into his room. It has been lovely the last couple of nights :)

I don't think you should decide that at the moment dh, I just think maybe learn some lessons (if that doesn't sound too patronising, I just can't think of another way to say it) Ie don't feed them to sleep. Co-sleep if that's what makes you happy but if not, start them sleeping on their own early on, no falling asleep on you etc.

Yep, your little lady is certainly further down the teething route than my lo :( I had a feel round his gums this morning and found a little tiny sharp pointy bit of a tooth coming, that's his 9th.

Dylthan how are you lovely? Have you seen the GP yet? Let us know how you got on

Thanks for the meal ideas, Cake. I can't remember what you said Blush so will have to go back a page Blush

Woodlands · 16/10/2011 21:01

poor uou memphis, really hope you're better soon!

J also has the combination of a cold and teething - he's still only got 6 teeth but I think his third and fourth lower incisors are finally on the way, plus I can feel the edge of a molar on the right.

DH, I still BF J and he stopped needing to feed to sleep months and months ago and simply won't co-sleep - we tried again last night as he was having a bad night but he just won't sleep in our bed. Not saying this to rub it in, but just pointing out that BFing isn't necessarily to blame for your problems. I think so much of it is down to personality of the baby.

Stayed over last night with friends - it meant we could put J down to bed and then enjoy our evening and not have to disturb him. Of course he woke when we came to bed and he was boiling hot - it took a while to get him to sleep. Our lovely lovely friends offered to take him this morning so we could have a lie in - I think that's the first time anyone's done that!

viksam · 16/10/2011 21:29

chu what was last night like? I really hope not as bad as the night before! I think u passed ur bad night on to me though. D was up at 3.10 and didnt go back down till 5!! Then up for the day at 6.50. I gave in and fed him in the end at 4.40, i think the problem was hunger, i gave him 6oz of watered down milk and he settled after that, why didnt i do it sooner!! He had a further 3oz this morning and is now eating some toast, please god let it stay down! Hes really straining in his high chair now like hes trying to pass something, what has he got to pass??? Poor boy, i feel so bad for him.

memphis83 · 17/10/2011 08:39

cakes I went to emergency doctors on Friday, they said I should have gone back today if there was no improvement, but there is a big improvement so wont go, bought a pair of mulberry coloured skinny jeans last week that were way too tight and were going back but they now fit!
mlic I keepf forgetting to say im a leftie too, My handwriting was better than others at school from early on, writing on whiteboards were a no no as I would wipe it off as I wrote on it! and I hold my fork in my left and knife in my right, the two biggest hurdles for me are using a knife, instead of cutting i sort of use the knife to tear the food, and using a potato peeler I used to get peelings all up the units and tiles growing up!
vik ive got L a little people garage for xmas as he loves pushing his cars about, we are also getting an aquadoodle, my mum has got the little people race track for him as it was half price in tesco.

After sitting last night looking at colours for the new house im now sticking with the green in the living room but with a grey and in the diner im going with duckegg! so now the task of cushions for living room and the massive task of the giant curtains in kitchen diner, everything seems to be giant flowers, and that isnt me, well it might be me it may just be im so rubbish with soft furnishings! would love more traditional like cakes but dh would hate it, he thinks Next and Ikea do a great job at setting up rooms!
mum is having L this afternoon so I can crack on a bit upstairs!

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/10/2011 09:14

Yeah I suppose it is alot to do with his personality too. On the day he was born he wouldnt sleep in that plastic cot thing in hosp but he would happily sleep in the bed with me.

He slept 9-1 last night then dh went into him but brought him in to me so he spent the rest of the night with us. The time spent on his own is getting longer though so hopefully he'll eventually sleep all night in there when he's 4

Chulita · 17/10/2011 11:57

memphis I quite like massive flowers depending on the colours. Duckegg is a brilliant colour, dunhelm have quite a bit that coordinates with it. I can't wait to move into our house, I like some of the colours there already, the snug is coffee and the master is sage green which is lovely but the kitchen was toothpaste green [bleugh] and the living room was a horrendous dark purple. We just painted them white and cream but I'm definitely going to be changing them later. I'm useless at interior design though!

viks much better night thanks! even got a lie-in (whilst ignoring L pottering around handing me bears)

dh I reckon it's personality more than bf too. I fed both of mine to sleep for a long time and then got tough with cc. Neither of mine wanted to co-sleep beyond about 6 weeks (I didn't co-sleep btw but I'd do feeds in bed when they were really small, they just got to the stage where they wouldn't sleep in our bed).

I just got an email saying that my favourite cousin is visiting from Australia just after Christmas Grin I'm so excited, tbh we've only spent maybe a total of a fortnight in each other's company in our whole lives but we get on really well, he's like the male version of me. I've not seen him for 6 years though so we might have all changed...

Hello, hello,

glad you're feeling better memph. Man that sounded rough. Don't overdo it now!

mlic Heating and hot water are back now. Thanks for asking. Came back Sunday afternoon, so I spent Saturday night worrying about going into labour without having showered. [hblush]

Your meal plan puts me to shame. Do you wanna know what we had for dinner last night? Pot noodles [hgrin] And DP had to go out for those as well. M didn't have any though, I hasten to add. I cooked for her, just finding it really hard to get motivated to cook or prepare or do anything ATM really.

How is D today viksam?

cake Party and presents sound great, but exhausting. Glad you had a relaxing day yesterday.

kk How was London?

dh That's a big improvement about his sleep, isn't it. Well done!

chulita I love the post unclutter feeling. Exciting news about your cousin.

You are all very organised about Christmas. I was gonna have all the presents bought and wrapped by now, yet haven't done a single one. Just didn't get any ideas or inspiration, so it will have to be dealt with in December with the help of a 16 months old and a newborn [hhmm]

Still no baby here. Still nightly panic attacks about him coming. I am scared of labour, pain and of dealing with 2 children after having given birth. Oh and of how M will be when we're not there for bed time Sad

Other than that, all is dandy. I'm gonna take M to the doctors today to see if they can do anything to help boost her immunity cos she has one cold after the other. Midwive will come later and will make me step on scales, the b**ch

I seem to be getting horrific stretch marks, much worse than with M. Has anybody found a miracle cure something that helps?

Laters!

Chulita · 17/10/2011 12:12

trudyla panic not! you've done labour before so your body knows a bit better what it needs to do. You'll be brilliant with 2 children afterwards, goodness knows you've been incredibly patient with M during the last year so as she's getting easier you'll have more time for a snoozing newborn. Even if M's tricky without you at bedtime she'll have forgotten within a week most likely :) Fwiw I got hideous stretch marks with S, this time I'm going to buy some Palmer's belly butter for before baby and some of their stretchmark cream for afterwards, I've got 2 friends who swear by it but who knows if it works or not!

Going to catch up with last night's Downton now methinks instead of making that phonecall I need --to

Mr F was exactly the same in the hospital and has been looking for an excuse to sleep in our bed ever since tbh dh. some babies are just made that way i reckon. i'm not saying you have to co-sleep with babies like this, i'm sure you could use various methods to stop them but to me it felt right to just go with it. i would do the same again.

A's a different kettle of fish - she was happy to sleep alone in the hospital crib and now when she's not teething (which I can barely remember) she's happy to be on her own but if she's in pain or ill then she's straight in our bed, writhing around and trying to bf 80 times a night. if she had more hard-core parents then she'd probably cope in her own room but altho sleep is really really shit at the mo, i know it's not forever so i'm happy to do it.

we've all got different lifestyles, levels of support and abilities to cope without sleep so i know it's not an option for everyone.

memph so glad you're feeling better and can fit in your jeans Grin

there's a middle ground between old-skool floral naffery like mine and Next - you could easily get plain stuff in linen, velvet etc or lovely subtle pattern, stripes or dots if you have an idea as to what you fancy. Something like this which doesn't look too fusty or tasteless-in-yer-face-next-macro-flowers. have you done a sample board? i find them really helpful to plan a project. i do mine on a pin board and pin pics and paint and fabric samples until i feel like it's come together.

the fun bit and the thing that makes rooms stand out as more interesting and individual are the photos and random bits and pieces so i tend to go for quite subtle styles as a backdrop as i know i'll pack rooms of full photos, paintings and stuff i find.

feeling v proud of myself - just done 4 major wardrobe sort-outs. i've been doing mine over the past few months since i had my colours and style analysis anyway - i've just bagged up the final bin bag for charity and have a small pile of decent stuff to ebay.

dh's has been a mess and sprawling over A's room so i've just enforced a clear-out by emptying an antique dressing table he was storing clothes in and on Hmm - i'm thinking of ebaying that as there's just no room for it now the DCs are here and it's not the most practical of things (i have my own one already) but i am sad to see it go as it's old and pretty Sad

have bagged up F and A's old outgrown stuff ready to go to charity too.

i need to tackle the baby clothes in the attic next. i've been putting it off as there's about 10 bin bags but now i'm in the clearing out zone i ought to just crack on with it.

CakeandRoses · 17/10/2011 12:16

wooo - long post

CakeandRoses · 17/10/2011 12:19

viksam I just found this idea they look quite good but if you scroll through the tutorial they're so easy to make. Dunhelm (wow, second mention in one day, I'm not a shareholder!) do those fabric covered boxes cheapish and the felty signs are simple. Might work?

Welcome back tsc, looks like christmas is pretty much done in your house. Buy yourself something and wrap it up, don't settle for a bottle of baileys!
