Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Trudyla · 15/10/2011 09:43

Same problem here vik. I can just about fasten my coat but I can't breathe properly, so it's either cold or breathless [hgrin]

Don't talk to your D H then, just plonk D on him and leave. I hate moody behaviour.

We have no heating or warm water here, hopefully they sort it out soon. Really want to have a shower and wash my hair. Makes you realise how much you rely on those things. It was below zero last night as well (outside, not in here), luckily this house is really well insulated, so with a few extra layers of jumpers and socks, we shouldn't freeze to death. Still, don't fancy bringing a newborn in here right now.

Another thing on my ridiculous to do list before giving birth was to get a pedicure, so I have an appointment for when M naps.

mlic Well done on all the bed and furniture moving (have I said that before? [hhmm] ) I completely understand that you use your spare time for that. DP just took M out for a walk and I really enjoyed tidying and cleaning up the flat in peace. You can work so quickly without someone following you constantly, trying to trip you up [hgrin]. Well, the cat still did, but at least she doesn't scream.

memph You have been quiet. Are you OK?

Thanks all for your positive comments about the age gap. I don't want everyone to sugarcoat their words, but sometimes I just find it bloody rude when they say: Oh, it's gonna be hell. I'm all for honesty, but sometimes not saying anything might be the better policy. I feel like answering back to them, well, I might struggle but at least I don't have such a horrible haircut as you do. Or something along those lines. Do you know what I mean? Sometimes it's just polite to shut up [hgrin] Not what the Germans are best at, I'm afraid. Politeness that is.

Anyway, hope you'll all have super weekends and little Mr F a super birthday party.

memphis83 · 15/10/2011 13:18

Hello everyone not being rude but my head is up my arse so cant think enough to comment on hardly anything, i ghave been so ill its unreal, I have D & V that is so bad I ended up at emergency docs, I blacked out at work on thursday and its happened a lot since apparently because my temp is so high I also have a stupidly low blood pressure, I have been on the toilet every 20 mins since wednesday night and thowing up between although I havent been eating and can barely drink, I have a virus that is so bad if they give me antibiotivs or imodium the infection will harbour in my body and I will end up in hospital! if I dont improve I have to be admitted on Monday but I have improved slightly im actually dressed! but im not allowed near kids or elderly for 5 days, not allowed to feed L as I could contaminate his food, have my own toilet, gutted we were going to leeds tonight for a surprise party of my uncles but we cant go, our friend has had a baby and we cant visit!

mlic have you got pinking shears? I use those for bunting letters to stop fraying (if you like the little zig zag edges) or I use felt. you can buy really fine felt that is thin and not fluffy.

right im going back to bed!

viksam · 15/10/2011 14:03

Dear god memphis thats horrific! Wheres L? Is ur dp at home?
D's just been sick again, poor boy, i think we gave him too much to eat and it was almost an instant reaction. Im so pissed off with myself, i knew i was giving him the wrong thing but still did it, its such an overwhelming urge to want him to eat though. Dh gave him milk and a fruit bar this morning and some cheddars and they stayed down so maybe that will be it for the next 24 hrs.
I might go to bed, dh is drilling in the garage, its amazing how he will get on and do stuff if its for his benefit but as soon as its for anything or anybody else its a giant drag! He is very selfish really, i have known this for ever but i hate when it comes out so obviously.
trudy wouldnt it be lovely to say exactly what you want to people, i think its a good job that politeness prevents us!!

WhatSheSaid · 15/10/2011 18:43

memphis sorry you're so ill.

mlisc so will the train table thingy not fit in ds1's room when the double bed is in there?

I ahve a sore head, I went out last night. My jeans that fit great on the leg but won't do up round my waist - last night they did up! Hurray! . They were still a bit tight on the waist but they did up for the first time in 2 years.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 15/10/2011 19:27

Eurghh that sounds grim memph :( Yes I have pinking shrears. I can get the lettering looking good, it's sewing them on to s decent standard that's going to be tough. Although I suppose I could hand sew them on...

WSS, no it won't. Gutted.
It will, ironically, fit in the spare room/DS2's room at a squeeze. But that kind of defeats the object. Oh well, have a little while to think about it.

Have you got you heating/hot water sorted trudy?

Vik I have also had to do the mountain of ironing I promise myself every time that I won't let pile up! I have done all the clothes bar dh's workshirts, will have to do them tomorrow. I have been the queen of multi tasking tonight - I only decided to do my fave lasagna at 5pm which is a right faff to make but lush, managed to do it around bath time/bedtime and finish the ironing whilst the boys were in the bath! Off to have tea now

DesperateHousewife21 · 15/10/2011 19:58

Evening all! I tried to catch up on some posts but there are so many of them!

We had a v nice hol in somerset, it was v windy when we first got there but the last couple of days were really nice. Lots of walking, pub lunches and Dylan running around.

He's in his own room starting from tonight, he's been asleep for half an hour so far so fingers crossed :)

Hope everyone has had a good week!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 15/10/2011 20:19

Oooo is he in a cot or a bed dh? Good luck, hope it goes well.

Glad you had a nice holiday.

CakeandRoses · 15/10/2011 21:55

memph that sounds terrible, you poor darling. i so hope things improve soon. have you got help from family?

welcome back dh!

nice one on the jeans *wss! no better feeling!

mlic i have a similar pile of finances which i always promise myself i won't get behind on Blush

really hope d improves vik

shattering but good day with F's party. i did an actual puppet show Shock

catch up properly tomo, y'all.

viksam · 16/10/2011 07:23

Morning all,
I hoped to be up just a tad later but it could be worse. D was sick in the night again, i just dont get it, all he had to eat after his lunch time sick was a fruit bar and some cheddars and about 2oz of milk before bed, what should i do today, hes reaching out and whinging for food, he must be starving, thats three days not including today that he hasnt eaten properly and been sick, thats a long time for a little one i think.
wss i think i got back into my jeanse for about 4 weeks before they started getting tight again because i was preggers and didnt know it, good for u!!
mylife I left the ironing board up to encorage me to finish today and i left my shirt on top and the cat has made a nest out of it, nice!
cake sounds like u had a great day, tell us all about it when u have the energy!
dh its lovely around there isnt it, havent been there for years, is the tropiquarium(?) still there? How did last night go? Thats such a big step forward for you all, what was it like having ur bed back?!
Im on the hunt for some sort of vintage superhero material for D's new room, i want to do something nice for him even though we will also probably have to store the ironing board and the vacuum in there, even if i can only get a pillow case i could make some tie backs or something.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/10/2011 08:56

Vik it sounds like the bug over here - just kept coming and going, he'll be fine soon. Cheddars have dairy in them though (the name is a bit of a give away Wink) so maybe stick to toast and plain mash, that sort of thing

Vintage superhero room sounds fab! I'll let you know if I come across anything. I'm starting to personalise the boys' rooms now as I have never done that [bad mam emoticon]

I was able to wear my skinny jeans easier after having given birth to DS2 than I can now :( But I like crisps and red wine too much to loose weight Blush

Are you feeling any better memphis?

viksam · 16/10/2011 09:22

Haha about the cheddars, i know but I gave him plain crackers the other day and they came up again, cheddars seem to be the only thing that he can keep down, strange, i have only given him toast with a tiny scrape of butter and he drank about 2oz of watered down milk, im guessing it tasted rank, hes drinking water well though. I may try mash later.
With D's current room i really liked the Cath Kidston light house material so i brought half a mtr, its so expensive its all i could justify, and had it made into curtain tie backs, the lady only charged me £5, so if i can do something similar with some ace material i can just buy plain curtains. I also brought a series of lovely cards from a gallery in St Ives and found cheap, square, deep wooden frames from Wilkos that fitted perfectly and they look ace. I absolutly loved doing D's room and still love it now, thats why i really would like him to go into a nice room again.
I FINISHED THE IRONING!!!!!!!!!!THERE IS NO MORE IRONING IN THE WHOLE HOUSE............RIGHT NOW, AT THIS MOMENT!! Hurrah, think I'll celebrate with a nice shower and a cup of tea.

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/10/2011 09:23

Vik- yes the tropiquaria is still there, we went there on mon it was really good. D loved all the animals and there was alot of space for him to run around safely.

We took apart his cot and put the mattress on the floor, unfortunately he woke up alot more (every hour) but it's to be expected after him being so used to sleeping in with us. It was nice to have our bed back though. I'm going to persevere and hope he settles down once he's got used to it.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/10/2011 09:34

Well done on the ironing vik :)

Good on you for persevering dh! It won't take long then he'll be used to it

My boys both slept til 7:20 Shock I had a root round ds2's mouth this morning and one of his teeth further back (molar?) has just broken through. So that explains the last three days/nights then!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/10/2011 11:41

Ironing done. Upstairs windows wiped down (condensation), windowsills cleaned and bedrooms hoovered.

downstairs is a shit tip though

Chulita, how's the uncluttered house keeping? What on earth possessed you btw?

memphis83 · 16/10/2011 13:35

I am feeling a lot better today but still not great but i felt better yesterday then at 9pm I hit a new level of ill crying in pain and sorry for tmi ..passing blood, but that has stopped now so hoping im not the same tonight, dh is being wonderful trying to do things for the move, sorting L and the dog and keeping my fluids up and doing all the washing and pegging out!
mlic I use a really good quality washable fabric glue really thinly on my letters

Chulita · 16/10/2011 14:07

memphis it's been grim, grim, grim for you hasn't it!? Hope you get better soon and good for your DH helping out so much!

It's still pretty uncluttered actually, I'm very proud of myself (won't last though). I just had a burst of energy for the first time in about 4 months and looked at the pig sty of a house and thought "I'll never get a cleaner at this rate" Grin

OP posts:
viksam · 16/10/2011 14:26

Ohhhhhhhhhh a cleaner!! Id love a cleaner atm. I just want someone to do the vacing and the cooker and the ironing, i can do the rest. We do have a window cleaner i have to admit, the would just never get done if i didnt, although i wish they could do the inside too!!
D is whingey as hell today but no sick...........yet. I think toast seems to be staying down so will stick to that. Went to a toy fair earlier,my dh is into retro toys and stuff, there was some great stuff there, i spent a whole £3 on a small buzz lightyear and a superman figure. Just finished scrubbing and dettoling them so D can have them when he gets up.
So what are people thinking of for xmas, i think D would like a garage or the lovely duplo house but feel he may be a little young for both of them??

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/10/2011 14:52

Fabric glue. Why the fuck didn't I think of that? Cheers memph Grin

Glad you're feeling a bit better. Shock to you passing blood though, that's not good! Speaking of blood, I'm having a breakthrough bleed at the moment because I forgot to take my pill for three days in a row so came on Angry I never used to forget and I've been on the pill for 16 years except during pregnancies but since having DS2 I seem to forever forget to take it!

Vik just get them is my advice. Even if he's too young for them now (which I don't think he is) it's a long wait until his birthday. I'll not be getting much for the boys - they're too young to understand/value objects yet so I'd rather them have a few inexpesive things to open that one or two 'big' things iyswim. So probably cars/trains/planes/helicopters, that sort of thing.

I took the dogs for a walk then took the boys to the park and bumped into a hairdresser at a posh local salon who is now mobile. I mentioned I'd like a mobile hairdresser and she gave me her number before I remembered I hve Fridays to myself now and don't need a mobile hairdresser anymore Blush I'll feel guilty if I don't ring her though!

CakeandRoses · 16/10/2011 17:17

ah but then mlic you can have your hair done during the week and have fri to do anything you like. i wish i had a decent mobile one instead of paying £££ to go to the salon, albeit it's 30 seconds walk from my house.

chul i find having a cleaner is the best for making you stay tidy. i can't bear the thought of her having to work round mess or judge me so we have a total tidy-up before she comes every week.

memph when did you last go to the docs?

vik haven't thought too much about xmas yet but would love to get one of tables that mlic mentioned if i can figure out where to put it. F had an ace wooden garage with a lift thing on a pulley system thing for his 2nd birthday and plays with it quite a bit. tbh, nothing gets as much play as his brio trains - he first got those on his 2nd birthday and has had more every xmas and bday since - all the bits are quite expensive so well worth starting early. altho it'll be a while before D will play with them unaided, A loves watching the engines go round and decimating the track.

had a really nice chilled day which was just what we needed after the baking, present buying, goodie bag making, musical music judging, donkey pin tailing guiding an puppeteering of the past few days. we got takeaway pizzas from pizza express and ate them in the park and then had a long walk. just got back for tea and cake before i start the children's dinner.

Chulita · 16/10/2011 19:06

I'm looking at a duplo car transporter for S maybe, he loves cars and duplo so it's got to be a winner. We've got more brio than we know what do to with (track/bridges etc, not cool buildings or trains) but agree that both L and S really like that. Plan City is a brilliant brand for really tactile wooden town and car toys, I love their stuff!

Sorry not to answer you all, I've full-on hit the wall tonight and need to veg.

OP posts:
MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 16/10/2011 19:19

Chulita is that metaphorically speaking? Or have you actually hit the wall full-on? Confused Grin

I know I can't get that table in ds1's room, but I haven't got the heart to return it as I just know he'll adore it. So I have to make it fit somewhere in the bastard living room no doubt

I'm meal planning and have totally run out of inspiration with three days still to fill...anyone going to inspire me? :)

viksam · 16/10/2011 19:25

chu i totally agree about hitting the wall although i did have a half hour kip when D went down earlier i am still exhausted. D has been full on hard work this evening, he was well whingy till his toast for tea and then he full on cried all the way through his bath and bed and was really hard to settle, i think aside from the virus he has he also has a cold AND i can feel what i think must be molars having a real bulge. Poor poor boy he really is in the wars and i dont really know how best to help him.
cake Sounds like a lovely day after a busy weekend, we are just about to tuck into a well earned take away pizza but im not even hungry im way way to tired!
mylife I would defo have ur hair done on another day unless its something u enjoy doing in ur own time, at least it would stop u from doing housework or moving rooms around!

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/10/2011 19:42

Memphis- sounds awful hope you feel better soon.

I am soooo tired, I've got a headache and could def go to bed now but D has other ideas like putting the remote in the washing machine Hmm

CakeandRoses · 16/10/2011 19:42

chul hope you get a good rest this evening. dr cake orders a dh-administered foot massage.

re the brio - lots of the cool bits were bought by family from his amazon wishlist. is a good way of them being sure they're getting something they know he'll love. i also got v lucky and got a big bag of brio thomas stuff including a lighthouse which makes sea noises from the charity shop last year. he got this tunnel last xmas. he's just got this station which you can record announcements on and that's gone down v well.

mlic why don't you sell the double bed (if i've got that right) and buy a smaller bed for ds1 - wouldn't that make room for the table?

dinners.... what about tapas? or veggie stew and dumplings?

vik it does sound hellish there but maybe a good thing that you're getting it all out of the way in one go?

Lady A now has 11 teeth broken thru and 1 more about to.

Chulita · 16/10/2011 19:56

mlic could you not take the double out all together and give him a single so it'll fit? (as cake said having just read her post)

viksam S was up from 4.10am til 6.00am and then woke for the day at 6.40. I was up with him for those 2 hours and it's just knocked me for 6.

cake 11 teeth! she's going to be over this nightmare long before most of the rest of us, lucky you :)
We just got 3 large boxes of brio track last year on various car boots but we may well top it up with accessories cos it certainly is popular, that and the large car garage never get put away whereas all the other toys get tucked away for a few weeks to keep them 'fresh'.

Go to bed dh and let your DH do the honours.

I'm really off to bed now to continue knitting S's failure of a hat.
