Ack mlisc, I was coming on here to say that I wasn't going to read any of your posts but with all those blue faces I couldn't ignore it!

Good luck kkfairy, hope it all goes really well!

L up at 02.53 needing 'goo', S up at 03.40-05.10, 05.50-06.40, L woke up and got sent downstairs for Cbeebies and shreddies but piss-holes in the snow doesn't even begin to describe how my eyes are feeling. I've got a bit of the sickness that's going round, not as bad as memphis had it thank goodness or viks but there's definitely something in the air as both my neighbours have had it too!

cake sorry about your sicky children. That's really sad about your sil's ds too, I didn't take either of mine in yesterday since S had been sick, not worth passing it on to anyone else but I hate it when people don't care about passing things on.

Off to get S up, he's been awake but just lying in bed cuddling his monkey, I can now hear him rattling the bars so he must be ready to get up.

Go kk!! hope it's a successful day!

sorry for your shit nights/mornings chul and mlic Sad makes me feel a bit better about mine (F up to be sick a few times and then A woke up and in our bed and wanting to get back into the womb as usual)

you're like a super-hero at the mo chul. you seem to be such a great mother and do fun stuff with the DCs even when you've got nothing left in the tank. amazing.

our lovely nursery have said the DCs can swap today for fri so as long as no more sickness tomo then i should be ok to work thurs and fri this week.

re sil - they've only recently started this deli/cafe and their ds is the same age as A. she's working 5.5 days a week and her dh works 5 days a week and there's still work (accounts/cooking etc) to do at the weekend so their ds seems to be just shunted from nursery to mil (who has maffisly gone up in my estimation this weekend) with no-one really taking responsibility for him and his wellbeing.

their lack of regard for him on saturday night was startling (long story). they say they're sad about how little time they spend with ds but c'mon, starting that kind of business when your ds is so small is not going to be conducive to being a great parent.

btw: i'm not saying parents shouldn't work or have their own business, this just seemed an extreme to me and their ds was obviously caught up in the fall-out of it.

a day of snuggling on the sofa and watching films today i think.... (whilst trying to come across like Business Woman of The Year via email Hmm)

Woodlands · 08/11/2011 08:48

soo many sicky babies! Please don't send it this way! Touching all sorts of wood J has been much happier over the last day or so after a miserable week or two of teething. And finally this time it seems to have been productive - I can see the little points of his first two molars pointing through, and I think probably his missing two bottom incisors are through too, though it's hard to get a good look. If that is the case then when all of them are through that will make 10 teeth - half way there! Catching up with the rest of you! Now he just needs to get walking...

That is sad, cake - though at least the little boy has a caring granny. I guess it will pay off for them in years to come, but it must be very hard now.

I agree, chulita, you are definitely a superhero! Don't know how you're functioning on that little sleep while being PG.

Fingers crossed Trudy is off having her baby - am very hopeful to see she's not been around!

Good luck for today KK!

Hope you manage to catch up on some rest MLISC.

kkfairybrains · 08/11/2011 10:52

Another quickie just to say thank you all so so much for your good wishes! Have my first official client in 15 mins! Still so much to do with getting cards and all that but pretty much there!
So sorry to hear about all the sick kids :( and crap nights :(. E has a bit of a cold but dont think it has peaked yet as the poor little thing has big bags under her eyes and just looks sick despite a good sleep.
I bet trudy os holding her little boy right now!
Oh and my cousin and his partner had their little twins on Thursday! 2 little girls non identical, Lilly and Rosie. rosie had breathing difficulties and was in intensive care until sunday and her poor mummy had only seen her once up til then. But everything is good now and they're absolutely beautiful! I'm getting very broody again!

Chulita · 08/11/2011 13:46

I'm most definitely not a super anything, L watches far, far more Cbeebies than I'd like. I'd love to never have it on but keep telling myself it's a phase we're going through and I will one day turn it off and that'll be that. I worry about what's it's doing to her imagination at such a formative age.
DH was a star last night, he spend the worst part of an hour feeing S malted milks at 4am in a vain attempt to get him to sleep longer. He's not a big milk drinker at the best of times so the option of giving him some to keep him going is out.

A day of snuggling and films sounds lovely cake!

woodlands S only has 8 teeth so he's not maffisly ahead, two pre-molars are visible under the gums but the bastards won't break through.

kkfairy great about your cousin's girls, glad they're all out of hospital now.

I'm a bit Confused but am going for the flu jab on Friday. I don't really want it but am currently fighting off my 3rd cold in 4 weeks, this one with a hacking, productive cough and I keep thinking that if I'm coming down with colds this easily, flu will happily grab a hold. I'd feel awful keeping DH home if that happened cos he gets everything going so he'd come down with it too...it makes sense to have it but I really don't want it!

Took D to the park to get some air earlier and he managed to stand in dog poo, I hate it he always seems to find it. Why can't people bloody pick it up. It's all part of having a dog and its not fair on other park users, I'm so paranoid about him getting it on his hands and putting them in his mouth.

We also got stopped by the local loony who wanted to chat, he had no front teeth....

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 08/11/2011 17:09

I do dh. Wouldn't dream of not picking up.

Today has been a nightmare. Thanks to a 4.40 start. He slept 7.30 until I had to wake him at 8.50 to go out, then we were out until 2.20ish so he fell asleep on the way home at probably 2.25ish and I woke him at 3pm as I didn't want to affect bedtime :( He has been, understandably, pretty grumpy since 3pm but seems to have perked up a bit since finishing tea. Which is good as I'm behind on the ironing and need to iron a shirt for dh for tomorrow so glad I can finally put him down!

viksam · 08/11/2011 19:30

Evening all,
dh thats horrid and D did get it on his hands once in the playground, i was disgusted and fuming, dogs arnt even alowed in there!! I always pick up after mine.
mylife I hate it when the day is all over the place, sounds like you pulled it back well though, i try not and let him make up his lost sleep in the day if i can help it, mind u i dont even know why i bother cos nothing seems to make much differance. Had a crap night last night too, he cried out a lot and a just couldnt seem to settle, i only went in once and gave him a dummy and quick shhhhh, but he was awake for ages on and off and still woke for the day at 6.45 which i was glad for really as tuesday mornings are always a bit manic getting stuff ready for the CM. She said he hasnt been great today and hasnt eaten well, she recons he might have a sore throat, he had a cracker and a yog and 3oz milk when i got him home so at least thats something, he looked very very pale when i put him down so lord knows whats wrong with him now, its just one thing after another, i dont recall other kids i have known being poorly like this all the time, or is it just stuff thats not talked about??
chu i wouldnt worry about cbeebies and L, you gota do what ever it takes to get through right now imo and fwiw i think u do brilliantly.
kk how was ur first day? I really have to get mine cut, got the week off next week so i may go the whole hog and get my hair, eyebrows and eyelashes done, i will only have 6 weeks to go so should be still in decent shape for bambino!
cake I know what you mean about work and having time off, i just said as much to dh, would ur dh consider having time off or would you prefer to be there for them? Is it wrong that we dread out dc being ill because we are worried about havng time off work??
woods D is the same with his pre molars, one is coming through nicley but the other one just doesnt seem to want to break the surface and has been like it for a few weeks now Rahhhhhhhhh to teeth and rahhhhhhhhh to this time of year!!!! and rahhhhhhhhhh to lack of sleep!!

viksam · 08/11/2011 19:47

Oh yeah chu i had the flu jab on saturday and so far feel fine, i had it because it protects the new born too, but id say you have very good reason to have it, if i were you id go for it.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 08/11/2011 20:05

By gum that last hour was haaaaaard!

Chulita I always have cbeebies on in the house. Because I hate the quiet and I have to have something on. I am still like a teenager, I'll put the tv on, then I'll go in the kitchen and put the radio on and then a bit later I'll go upstairs to have a shower and then put the tv on upstairs Blush

Oh God no. Babyboy is crying already. Nnnnnnooooooooo :(

viksam · 08/11/2011 20:13

Oh no mylife whats wrong with him do u think?

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 08/11/2011 20:18

Ok so he was settled quickly - he was boiling, head dripping, but I had put a cover over him so I took that off and stroked his hair and he went back off

Hope you're ok trude, thinking of you.

Gosh 6 weeks vik?! Soon your turn to have teeny weeny baby cuddles again Grin

Great news on your cousins LOs kk. How was your first day?

Hope you managed to lay it on thick with dh cake Wink I wondered the same as vik actually, wouldn't he be able to take time owing/leave/something if the DCs were poorly?

I went to a meeting today Shock I had an actual agenda in front of me and I really enjoyed it! I felt like I was at work again It was just a parent forum thng though at sure start. They asked me to sit on the advisory board but the meeting is the week we're on holiday :(

I think in your shoes I would defo get the flu jab chul

Babyface has his four middle teeth top and bottom and he has most of a first molar on his right side through and the left one is just breaking, one pointy sharp corner is through. I am praying that's what this disruption to routine is about, because if it is it means it will settle back down soon.

I started to make some bread tonight on auto-pilot before it clicked that it would be ready until kicking on 11pm. There is no way on earth I will manage to stay up that late!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 08/11/2011 20:20

Your cousin's LOs

X post vik! Think he was too hot. I hope that's all it was!

DesperateHousewife21 · 08/11/2011 20:24

mlisc D woke up after half an hour, dont know what was wrong with him though. He came in the front room to find me bless him. He settled back straight away though.
Great about the meeting, must feel great for you!

Bit worried its making no difference to his sleep but then I think he's teething (molar is peeping through) and he's just getting over a cold even though he doesn't seem ill anymore.
His wake ups are roughly the same time throughout the night as they were when he was in with us the only good thing to cone out of it is I don't bf anymore.

Maybe he's just destined to be a bad sleeper til his teens.

Chulita · 08/11/2011 20:54

The reason I don't like it mlisc is that L will just sit and stare at it if it's on, she doesn't go off and do anything. It means I can mn and veg but I don't like it. I didn't have it on for most of today though, we just pottered around and read piles of books/drew monsters.
S took an hour to settle tonight as well, I'm sure it's the pre-molars but it's hard, hard work.
dh it sounds so cute him coming in to find you! what a sweetie!
I too frequently find myself cursing dogs owners on our wanders, there's so much just left lying around where we live, it's vile. I've started pointing it out when I see owners walking off and leaving it but most of the time you don't see it til it's too late. Both of mine are loving crunching through the leaves but I'm so paranoid of them stepping in some. DH always says he hates dogs, but it's not the dogs' fault!
Right, shower and bed methinks, early to bed early to rise and all that...

OP posts:
viksam · 08/11/2011 20:56

Oh god dh i hope not, that would be horrific!
mylife thats great about surestart, ace u were asked, i think you will be exactly the right person to have on the board.

CakeandRoses · 09/11/2011 00:12

left it too late to post much (have been making jewellery all evening - my new hobby)

dh don't think you should worry yet - as i always say F was sooooo shit at sleeping and was in our bed every night until 6 months or whatever it was ago - he now sleeps well.

i've made my peace with Lady A's desire to snuggle up with me too and i'm just enjoying it while it lasts.

chul what does L do if cbeebies isn't on? wouldn't she just play on her own?

glad you enjoying your meeting mlic Smile

hope all is good there trudy

oh and dh took off half a day last week and picked up A early the week before when she was ill so it was my turn and my diary was more able to be moved today than his - e.g. he was interviewing one of my mates for a job so i didn't want him to cancel that Grin tbh, tho i hate to admit it (to myself), he does have a more demanding job than i do now so it's much harder for him to take days off altho the fact i only work part-time does make it tricky for me in another way.

like you, vik i do feel a bit guilty that i panic about work when the DCs are ill but i suppose it's only cos you know it's nothing serious.

CakeandRoses · 09/11/2011 00:14

sorry chul that came across a bit abrubt and judgey - i really didn't mean it like that. i was just interested.

viksam · 09/11/2011 07:03

Morning all,
how did everyones night go? strangly D woke up just after W mylife so between bed time and 10 he woke 3 times! the last time i went in i nurofend him, Its either teeth or this supposed sore throat the cm suggested so i didnt think it would do any harm, and to my knowledge he slept through till 5.20ish, chuntered on for ages then fell asleep again for a while till 6.30ish, so a good night here really and so far today he seems fine............
cake My dh has a far more demanding job and would find it very difficult to take the time off, i just wondered how urs was fixed.

Chulita · 09/11/2011 07:50

It didn't sound abrubt cake, it's a fair question. L's never been one to play by herself, she will for about 10 mins (longer if it's glue and glitter) but then she wants my input/interaction. If S is up she'll get inspiration from taking whatever he's playing with off him. S is far better at entertaining himself.

S was up 3 times, each time for about 45 mins. I don't know whether I should've calpoled him because everytime I picked him up he was instantly quiet which made me suspect it wasn't pain, unless the cuddles distracted him from it. Tonight I will give him some because I can't manage these nights very well at the moment, DH and I are both shattered.

OP posts:
DesperateHousewife21 · 09/11/2011 08:22

It is quite sweet he comes to find me, not so much at 3 and half 4 like last night though. He goes back to bed v nicely though with no crying so I'm not sure why he's waking up in the first place.

D watches too much cbeebies for my liking too, that's why I take him out as much as I can. Obv I can just turn the tv off but it's the only room I've got really for him to play in.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 09/11/2011 08:31

All babies/toddlers wake through the night though dh, it's just a matter of him learning he doesn't need you to go back to sleep iyswim. We adults wake too but often don't rememebr because we just go back to sleep as we're wired to do that (usually)

Like ds1 woke at 5.10am and started shouting for me to put the light on Hmm Angry and woke his brother up. I thought I'd got away with it as he stopped crying and I drifted back off but by 5.45 he was crying again so I gave him some milk and he went back off until 7.50am when dh needed to get a shirt and suit out of his room. I have dog food being delivered today and dh has something which they tried to deliver yesterday when I was out, so I plan to stay in today and let him have a proper nap in bed.

CakeandRoses · 09/11/2011 08:36

deffo sounds like calpol is worth a try chul.

that does sound hard work with L then esp when you're shattered and lacking in energy. i'd never quite understood why parents needed cbeebies but it sounds as tho i've just been lucky as despite F's hyperness, he'll play for yonks on his own. they're both playing with brio in his room at the mo and i'll just listen out for squabbles and step in to adjudicate now and then.

i'm glad you had a better night vik

this week i've felt a bit clueless about how i'm supposed to make a career work not just part-time but around ill children. altho dh's job is 'bigger' now, mine isn't a 'turn up, do it and then go home and forget about it' type job either and i'm paid well as a consequence so i feel guilty if i'm not delivering. i do have a lot of flexibility about hours, location (and even days if needed) so i should be grateful but sometimes i wish i did just have a 'job' right now rather than the pressure of a supposed 'career' iyswim?

MalibuStac · 09/11/2011 08:36

What's with all the babies back to not sleeping? R only had half an hour in nursery yesterday then 10mins in the car, didn't go down till 10p. Then woke every 2 fricking hours. I'm meant to be in college today but fear I would fall asleep in class. This mornings lecturer is so boring.

chu R watches TV and like mlisc I always have it on in the background. R does go away and play when it suits her. J also watched tv and there's nothing wrong with his imagination or ability to play.

Wow viks can't believe lo will be here so soon, have you settled on a name?

dh totally agree about irresponsible dog owners we've always cleaned up after our dogs, its a disgrace not to.

Hope trudys ok.

Anyone up to much today?

Woodlands · 09/11/2011 09:00

J woke up at 2.30 and would NOT be comforted - he was arching his back and screaming, trying to get out of our arms. I ended up feeding him but once I was back in bed he started crying again so I ended up calpolling him and he slept fine after that. Must have been teeth I guess.

Off to swimming in a few minutes - didn't go last week as we had friends here so am looking forward to it.

J is very good at playing on his own so I don't need to use cbeebies for that (but totally understand why people do!). He watches In the Night Garden before bed most nights. I then sometimes put it on in the day if he's tired and needs to sit down and chill out for a few minutes - it's about the only way to get him to sit still! Either that or take him out in the pushchair, has the same effect.

Right, must go and pack swimming costumes (I went for a swim after he was in bed last night so hope mine's dry!).
