Sounds like a plan tsc. You've done well to lose half a stone.

I forgot horse-drawn carriage (if that counts as 'powered transport') - he's been on two carriage rides and thoroughly loved it both times :)

viksam · 23/10/2011 10:11

Ah hhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha omg cake thats tickled me........ummmmmmmm
Car
Bus
coach
Train
land train at the beach
Airplain
tube
Dh's back haha

Thats it i think.
trudy Ill take a look at that thread, thanks.
chu i get big hair by default and have to blow dry it down sometimes! I have so much hair its a pita, especailly post pregnancy when it all falls out!
cake ur night sucks but im glad the party was good.
mylife did you have a good night? hope u changed out of ur slob dress, im still in slob clothes, havent got dressed yet.
Im sat here FULL of cold and feeling like death but not grumpy, if that makes sense.
D slept soundly from 7.20 till 4.30 when he woke and cried, i went in and AGAIN he was soaking wet. After changing him i soothed him for less than 5 mins and put him down, oh i did give him a teething powder. He then proceeded to cry on and off but mostly on untill about 6.30 when i recon he must have fallen asleep through exhaustion and he slept then till 7.10 when i made dh get him up and i slept till 9.15. I really am at a loss, if he can sleep for 9 hours in a row without a peep there cant be anything wrong can there?? feel free to suggest anything cos this is ridiculous, as u can see we are going down the crying it out route again. I am also limiting his sleep in the dat to strictly no more than two hours, half in the morning, if he needs it, and up to 1.5 in the afternoon and no later than 3 no matter what. I think i'll go and see the HV tomorrow, see if they have any pearls of wisdom, i do really doubt it though! Mom said just leave him if you have checked him, easy in their victorian brick built sound proof house, not so easy in out 70's built out of tissue paper house!! I do laugh every time she says how they never had any problems with us sleeping.......they would never have known!!!!!!!!
Whats anyone doing today?

Yes I think going down awake is the key to cracking it tsc.

What nappies do you use vik? I use Asda/Tesco/Aldi and have never had a leaking nappy that I can recall, except for the odd teething poo explosion. The thing is if he's had 9 hours sleep, he'll feel pretty rested and will need a lot of encouragement to go back to sleep. If you can stop what it is that's waking him in the first place (like an excessively wet nappy) it might help him self settle when he wakes.

Trudyla · 23/10/2011 11:59

1 car - yes, hates it
2 standard train - yes
3 tube - yes
4 ferry - yes
5 plane - yes
6 cable car - no
7 shuttle train thingy at airport - yes
8 small/childrens' train down to a beach - no, and if I have anything to say, never will
9 venetian gondolier (my trump card) - no
10 new york subway [hconfused] - no

I've got two more:

bike - yes (as in bike seat, not actually baby cycling [hgrin] )
shopping trolley - yes, she loves it

What strange things you think of cake and how strange that I am interested in that, too [hhmm]

dh Haven't you been abroad recently? So D must have been on a plane?

No real plans for today. I was hoping to go into labour after breakfast (no signs, just would have been convenient for babysitting and travelling) but nothing. Oh well. Roast dinner after M's nap, then out for a walk and coffee.

Enjoy your Sundays everyone.

Woodlands · 23/10/2011 14:03

Transport:
Car
Train
Bus
Tube
Plane
Little railway into a mine at Morwellham Quay museum (and actually maybe another one at the Big Pit museum when I was pg)
London river boat (at 3 weeks old)
DLR (at 3 weeks old)
Little rowing-boat-type ferry from Salcombe to East Portlemouth in Devon
Woolwich Free Ferry
French ambulance (when I was pg)
Le Shuttle (under the channel) when I was pg

I think that's it!

Took J to church this morning - he giggled and crawled around the whole church, trying to get up to the altar (repeatedly). He's now napping. When he wakes up we're going to go to the house/gardens where the Great British Bakeoff was filmed and have a wander. There's a farmers' market on there today and I need some carrots and potatoes for tea if we can get there in time - it's only on till 3, and I don't know when J will wake up!

viksam · 23/10/2011 14:32

mylife i agree, i think because hes been eating well over the last few days hes producing excessive wee(am i alowed to use that word?) Im using pampers actifit cos they are on offer atm at morrisons, they are good in the day as they are less bulky. The cm suggested to put a sanitary towel inside the nappy, i really dont fancy that idea but i suppose anythings worth a try.
DH is upstairs finishing off painting what will be D's room, now we can have the carpet fitted asap and move him in, then we can really see what we need for the baby's room. I just got a £300 bonus from work!!! and have already got the money for the carpet that i have scraped together over the last few months so all is good, just really need to shift this cold and get D to sleep!!!!!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/10/2011 15:30

Aha! That's why I asked, I suspected it may be pampers.

I think they're officially shit

Try buying something else for a night even if you think they're better for daytimes (I personally don't find other nappies too bulky but we're all different)

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/10/2011 15:31

And even when on offer pampers work out more expensive than own brand nappies

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/10/2011 16:47

Haha yes you're right D has been on a plane! How could I forget my own honeymoon lol.

My period came back today, oh what fun. It's not v heavy but it's giving me lower back ache but I'm v glad to see my body is still in full working order for baby no. 2

viksam · 23/10/2011 17:38

I think ur probably right mylife whats the best iyo?
dh good news really apart from the back ache.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/10/2011 18:18

I honestly think they're much of a muchness, it just depends where I do my shopping as to whether I use Aldi, Tesco or Asda. Tesco and Asda regularly have them on 2 for a tenner so you get 80ish nappies (depending what size he's in, DS2 is in size 5s) for a tenner whereas Aldi's are less than a fiver for a pack.

Pizza hunt for tea, twas delish. And brought some home for when I'm feeling peckish later :)

Woodlands · 23/10/2011 18:25

I do really like Pampers. I should stock up next time I find a good offer. He's currently in the Simply Dry ones - got two packs of 50 for £12 which was really good, wish I'd got more! I never have leakage problems.

aw thanks fpr them words about E ladies! i don't see her as advanced as such just 'her' if you get me?!
had a brilliant night in the end last night. tired today though and E just isn't herself. she was up at about 7.30 or 8 this morn and whinged and whinged all morn until about 11.30 when she went to sleep. she has a cough when she's asleep and catching her breath when awake but she's not wheezy. getting a bit concerned about it cos its strange and doesn't sit right with me Confused. just keep an eye on her i suppose!
vik i'm using the lidl nappies now and find them really brilliant. and it says on the packet they were voted mumsnet best! i chop and change between pampers and huggies usually but i'm really happy i tried these and will stick with them.
how was it hunting for pizza mlic??! Grin. can't say i ever tried it!
i'm flaked out in front of a big open fire and that's where i'm staying for the night!

viksam · 23/10/2011 19:30

Ohhhh kk fire sounds lovely.
woods that was a good deal, where was that?
Thanks for the tips on nappies y'all, i have packed his with cotton wool around the top so lets see what happens tonight.
chu i would have used cloth but the initial outlay put me off, i do feel really guilty using disposables, i did use the econappies from boots when they were on offer, get loads of points too.
I enter into the evening with dread and i hate that. He didnt go down easily tonight either. Im so wired that im having trouble sleeping when i get the opportunity, i think i was awake every houe last night waiting for D to wake up! I feel like utter shit with this cold too...........uhrrrrrrrr, i need to hibernate!!!!!!!!
Sorry........i really will stop moaning soon!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/10/2011 19:31

Grin It's the new craze, taking over from Zumba - burning calories looking for pizza instead of eating it...

I thought of you too chul, when vik said about bulky nappies! Yep kk the lidl ones are good. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you view it) my nearest Lidl is further away than Morrisons, Aldi, Teso and Asda so it isn't worth my while going there for them. I think of all the 'alternative' nappies (ie not pampers and huggies) they are the least bulky sin a similar style to pampers but they come much higher up than pampers.

Huggies are fine, but no better than any shop ones imo so I won't pay the extra for them.

Hope she's ok kk

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/10/2011 19:36

Lidl nappies were voted best by mother and baby mag too, can't say I've tried them yet but do want to. I'm currently using pampers active fit and the next pack waiting to be used is pampers pull ups.

Aches and pains have eased off now, I had to dig out the big granny pants that were used after Ds birth to wear in bed!

Woodlands · 23/10/2011 19:46

I didn't like Lidl ones, I thought they were hard and scratchy. I know they are very popular.

Woodlands · 23/10/2011 19:46

The Pampers offer was in Tesco's. I had been going to buy tesco's own as I quite like them, but Pampers actually came out cheaper!

kkfairybrains · 23/10/2011 19:49

lidl is jusst down the bottom of my hill mlic! i do all my shopping there except washing powder and toiletries and things like that.
its terrible feeling like that vik :( hopefully tonight will be a better night for ylu both and that you sleep.
dh can't believe you're only getting periods now! hope its not too bad!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 23/10/2011 20:06

Keep thinking about dylth. If you're reading, hope you're ok x

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/10/2011 20:20

How was dylth when she last posted? Hope she's ok.

I know, it's been 2 years since I had a period! I knew they'd cone back as soon as I stopped bfing and I'm glad they have, it's not too bad though unless the worst is yet to come.

Woodlands · 23/10/2011 22:00

Hope dylth is doing OK.

Just saw the end of Big Brother - my DH's little brother is assistant art director on it and we saw his name on the credits! We are v proud.
