Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
wigglesrock · 15/09/2011 21:08

ponyo I'm not sure that Anna does know her name, to be honest I've spent the last week or so calling her Olivia Blush so she might be a tad confused. I'm not 100% sure about who the killer is in the original, I stumbled across a thread ages ago about it but might be remembering wrong! PS I don't like the aunt/mums sister in the US one but don't know if she's in the Danish one.

Olivia is in bed, temp has gone down a lot, and she doesn't seem to have been as ill going to bed, but she didn't want Sofia to sleep in the same bed as her, which she always does so deffo not "right"

Anna is grand, think she is just having a bad time with her teeth. O was the same, she didn't get her first tooth until shortly after her first birthday and it was quite hard work for all involved Grin

reastie · 15/09/2011 21:13

ok so can everyone watching the killing finale tonight please mention nothing about who did it as dh and i are behind and watching on 4od. I hate with a passion knowing the ending before I've got there.

ponyo I think you're onto something with the intelligent babies not good sleepers - my sister and dad were apparently terrible terrible sleepers and have both go on to go to cambridge Envy . My Granny always said it was as they were frstrated with not being able to do everything they wanted to (in that their brains were too intelligent but they couldn't link it to their bodies iykwim). I apparently was a great sleeper as a baby and let's just say I'm not cambridge material Wink

ILovePonyo · 15/09/2011 21:29

Grin reastie I think I was a good sleeper too Grin Glad you've backed me up with the theory tho!
We've not watched then end of the killing here either, on about episode 10 of the danish one.

wiggles the mums sister is in the danish one but not featured much until the last episode we watched, I know the U.S one is different but she was taking drugs and being generally dodgy in a club where she worked...
Glad O is on the mend :)

NeedToSleepZZZ · 15/09/2011 21:34

ooh, ponyo another meet up Smile hope you had fun! would really love to meet everyone on this thread and think we should plan something even if it means there's a north and south option iykwim Confused at least that way we could tell tales report back about each other Grin

reastie i'm with you with the killing, PLEASE don't say who the killer is my money was on the dad's friend but not now as i'm 2 episodes behind. Oh and for all the teachers, have you seen the trailer for the new doc on ch4 next thursday about schools, looks very funny!

right, off to bed now, wondering if i should set up cctv in the nursery to see if B really does crawl at night when no one is looking.....

reastie · 15/09/2011 21:40

yes needto I saw that ad earlier and genuinely got really excited about watching it [saddo]

reastie · 15/09/2011 21:58

debka · 15/09/2011 21:58

OP posts:
ILovePonyo · 15/09/2011 22:06

deb hope the crying stops v soon and she has a nice big sleep, hope you're ok xx

wigglesrock · 15/09/2011 22:08

[stretching out hand to debka]

reastie nice, nice that's all that can be dug up on Idris Grin, I'm much more interested in the Dermot O'Leary gossip. Am watching the last episodes of The Killing (US), I think I might know who it is Shock, and its not where the finger is pointing now Grin

wigglesrock · 15/09/2011 22:16

If anyone needs a bit of a giggle,

If my 3yo had access to AIBU

debka · 15/09/2011 22:46

Thanks girls, my mum came over Blush advised a dose of calpol, we dosed her up, put her back down and asleep in 2 minutes. Phew! Just need to get myself back to sleep now.

OP posts:
wigglesrock · 15/09/2011 22:54

debka · 15/09/2011 22:55

Get over to telly addicts wiggles!!!

OP posts:
debka · 15/09/2011 22:56

How dare you imply that the telly is more fascinating than my annoying little problems with my youngest? Grin

ledkr · 16/09/2011 00:32

ok,we are on the third nightmare night with D,thoroughly fed up.She just wants to sit on my lap and doze with a bottle in her mouth but then wont settle back afterwards. She broke her own record tonight and woke before i even went to sodding sleep. I gave her some milk and calpol she went to sleep but was crying 10 mins later, gave her more milk and she was just weakly sucking and dozing, wouldnt go down again so i thought enough is enough,so have just let her cry it out with some visits to pat her back, she has finally gone off now so fingers crossed, just cannot keep this up,she had 2 20 min naps today, the least we can expect is a good nights sleep, maybe back later,i know ou are all asleep but it helps me stay calm to share xx

tadjennyp · 16/09/2011 00:41

I'm still up ledkr! I hope D has gone off for the night now and you can get some sleep.

Hope all sick children are recovering quickly.

Weather here has gone from 33C on Tuesday to 17C today with a freeze warning for tonight, byron! It's like falling off a cliff here, weather wise, with the weather man saying that's it for the next 9 - 10 months. Shock Hopefully S will be able to sleep better as he has been a nightmare recently too.

Must find that sleb thread again. We've almost finished season 2 of the Wire now.

wigglesrock · 16/09/2011 09:43

ledkr hope last night ended up going ok, that's what A is like when she won't sleep, will doze on my lap but the minute she goes horizontal, wah, de wah, de feckin' wah, even if she lies with me Grin Although last night was a really good night, she was down at 7.30pm and woke at about 12.30am, but Mr W had just come in from work, so he fed her and she went down until about 6am. I however feel more tired because I got more sleep Hmm

tad yikes, brrr

ledkr · 16/09/2011 09:43

Thanks Tad I lost my net connection just after.
Well she cried until 1.40 from about 12.15,it was horrible,it seemed to make her worse if i went in.She then only slept till 7 so we are shattered. Ther problem is that she is using the bottle as a dummy which is fine if its just for going off to sleep but it seems to be escalating to more frequently and then waking up a few mins after i put her down. Will have to do it tonight too but it should be less i think deb? Have to stick with it cos last night will be a waste of time.Wont be letting her feed to sleep in the day either.
Any suggestions?

ledkr · 16/09/2011 09:44

wiggs does she do that on the bottle?

wigglesrock · 16/09/2011 10:04

Yup she does, we can usually ease the bottle out, but as soon as you lie her down, she starts, an actual dummy is no help.

janedoe25 · 16/09/2011 10:14

ledkr sorry to hear dilly has ben a monkey with sleeping, hope she sorts herself out for tonight.

MizK · 16/09/2011 11:37

Morning all.
ledkr so sorry that you're having problems at night - you will get there I'm sure, but its horrid whilst trying to sort it out. Hope you have a more restful day ahead, and that tonight is better.
can you believe these babies? If anyone had told me sleeping would still be a problem at 7 months, I would have wept ( I may still weep actually....)
I have added a pic of mine and ponyos little darlings together yesterday, they were v cute together but there were a few power struggles over toys hahaha! And was envious of A's fabulous hairdo!
Hope everyones Friday is going well, I am drooling over my Next delivery - a lime green duffle coat for Cass and some very preppy tassled loafers for me - channelling Sloane style this season, watch out Pippa!

Deliaskis · 16/09/2011 11:38

Oh dear Ledkr sorry to hear about cr@p sleep, we've had a couple of cr@p weeks with lots of waking cos of poorliness, but at least it's not been like Dilly has been. FWIW I think you're probably doing the right thing in trying to work on it, although I can imagine it just feels horrendous while you're in the middle of it. I have nothing helpful to say, only sympathy to offer (which is of course feck all use to you).

Sorry to everyone with poorly babies, it's horrid isn't it. I feel really sorry for C as although she is much better, she still has a snotty nose and this is week 3 now, I feel it is time she got to feel thoroughly better.

Quick travel question - we're planning on going to Spain the week after next, and will be hiring a car. Do you take your own car seat or somehow rent one there? C is still in the baby style carry handle one (I assume most of them are), not the sit-up ones for older babies. If we take it, where does it go on the plane? We're flying Monarch and they said that buggies and car seats go free, but do we really just rock up with both a buggy AND a car seat, and they just check it all through?

Any advice appreciated.

Dx

wigglesrock · 16/09/2011 12:09

MizK and Ponyo beautiful photo - both girls have gorgeous hair Grin I'm having a Next order night tonight, Mr W is working, I've been looking forward to it all week Blush I got A some lovely tunic type tops with a rabbit on them. Of course I'm not sure if I'm the best to judge after the debacle with As "pimp my coat".

deliaskis we didn't need a carseat with Anna this year but when we took Olivia away at 7 months we hired one with the rental car although we had prebooked the car and seat. I was really happy with the seat we got, it was forward facing. I saw lots of people bring their own car seat when we were away this year, but we have a fixed base so it's really bulky to bring. Car seats were wrapped in plastic at the airport and checked it with the luggage and we held onto the buggy until boarding.

americanexpat · 16/09/2011 12:14

ledkr - sorry to hear D has been a handful at night.

tadjennyp - 9-10 months? Shock Did you ship anything over when you moved? We're likely moving back next summer (whether we want to or not) so thinking ahead about what we want to take. We sent things via sea freight last time and spent 4 months with no furniture. Hmm I'm also feeling nervous about having another baby there after experiences of friends with a lot of (unnecessary) interventions.

jane - what's the date again? I'll mark my calendar. Grin

L slept through again but woke up really congested. He almost never sleeps through so he must've been feeling rough. He had a bit of a fever last night, gave him some paracetamol before bed and it was gone this morning.

My Wallace & Gromit Rapide-o-matic preserves dispenser arrived today. Grin
