Sorry Meglet if you wanted to start the thread with your title but I thought I'd best do it while there was still one space to post the link to this one on the last one.

Crikey this had fallen off my threads-i'm-on, sorry for going awol!

Well...DD started school yesterday Shock. She was a bit quiet when we went in but by all accounts had a great day and was doing starjumps at 7am this morning so I take it she was excited about going back! Its so weird being at home without her, and being apart from her for 6 hours, but I know she's in a great school with lovely children and teachers and she was so ready to start.

The midwife came today (day 11) but couldn't sign us off as DS2 still has his cord attached. Everything else is fine...he's put on 13oz in 6 days Shock. He had his tongue tie snipped on monday and has been feeding very efficiently since! I now know what he was doing for those extra 10 days on the inside...swatting up on SWMNBN, he's already happily in the 1-2 week routine, clever little boy! The HV kept using the word 'contented' to describe him this morning, I was thinking how proud SWMNBN would be Grin.

meglet glad your school start has gone well too, and all those with new nursery/going up a year new beginnings.

ninja you are fabulously strong and doing very well to rise above the nonsense.

DS1 is just having a 'birthday tea' which a few friends are invited to, I'm not even calling it a party to keep expectations low. DH is taking the day off work to chop carrot sticks and make pizzas Grin. DH is the creative genius in this house, my part is simply to make a lot of sponge cakes that he can cut up and fashion into Mater the tow truck.

Now c'mon eandz put us out of our misery and POAS!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 08/09/2011 19:56

Aw carrie I am so pleased for your DD. Hope it continues well.

C is being a dream child atm (it won't last). After months of terrible scratching, messing about etc she finally seems to be 'maturing' and wants to help. She happily cleans her teech most nights and we have the odd bad night but nothing like before. She seems to get that tickling daddy is fine but scratching is not. She's dropped all her daytime naps too, so is asleep before her head hits the pillow. Just wish I could get her into bed earlier than 7.30 but by the time tea is cooked and tidied away it seems to be late. DP is away and I've given up on bath time!

I was good tonight and had wholewheat pasta for tea. Wasn't too awful.

Those of you with more than one and who bf - how do/did you cope with school/nursery run if baby is bf on demand, especially if you have to drive there? I am trying to picture it in my head but.....

CappuccinoCarrie · 08/09/2011 20:01

mrsa In my experience of 2 whole days of school run, we all get up at 7 and my job is to feed feed feed the baby, and DH gets the other two up, dressed, and breakfasted. DS2 has a kick-about on the activity mat while I get dressed and is ready for a nap by the time we leave for school at 8:30. He falls straight to sleep in the pram and stays asleep for the 40mins we're out. I reckon offering them milk before you go is your best hope for not needing to feed on the commute.
That's great that C is being a dream child, well done on your consistency in the difficult phase. Age 3-4 is a lot of fun :)

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/09/2011 20:07

Just a quickie, will catch up later.

M was 3 today. Three whole years since he came to us, sigh.

Sorry to post and run, I will return when I get more time Smile

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 08/09/2011 21:35

That's what I suspected Carrie . That plan for me has 2 major flaws: i) DP often has to leave the house before 8 for work and is away from home on a regular basis, and ii) DP has IBS and often spends up to half an hr on the loo in the mornings. Oh and iii) C wants me to do everything atm.

DP does his best but it's me that does alot of the childcare in the mornings simply because he physically can't.

Ah well, we'll just have to cope.

Am 30 weeks and baby is driving me potty over position. By this time, C was head down but this one seems to still be flipping on a daily basis. Today I've been booted in the bladder and had what feels like a head by my ribs. Tonight there are strong thumps up by my ribs but also strong thumps on my pelvis. There may or may not be a head at the bottom of bump or it may be the bulge under my ribs, or is that a bottom?!
Is this too soon to be worrying? Am growing an octopus.

ninja · 08/09/2011 21:42

MrsA yuor baby will adapt - you may be able to give a quick feed and top up later (I did many a feed in the school playgrounds!!)

2nd ones are generally more flexible Grin

Debs75 · 08/09/2011 22:00

Happy birthday M

MRSA It all depends on your school run and how you get there. A car ride often lulls the most hungry child to sleep which can be a great help as long as you feed them when you get home. When robyn was little I had to get ds ready for school so some mornings I would wake earlier to give her a feed before I had to get ds up. Somedays it worked and somedays it didn't. Lucy is great at mornings as she tends to want to lie in till 10am. How long are you on maternity leave for?

Robyn was a monster again tonight. she is still refusing to go to sleep without boobie but she is getting frustrated and wants to swap sides, the position then she gets mad at her quilt and then I tend to get mad as I know Lucy is wanting her feed and to go to bed. I just left her tonight as Lucy had slept through tea and was huingry and dp wasn't in any hurry to feed her. I made her toast and egg then went back upto Robyn who wqas snivelling a bit. I felt dreadful but I get to the point where I want to scream and I don't want to upset her at bedtime. She fell asleep after 10 mins feeding but I just can't see a way to stop the feeding.

eandz · 08/09/2011 23:49

I've POAS (pee'd on a stick?) and the result was a big fat 'negative' which means that this nausea is from something else! I feel so tired too! Oh well, I'll keep going back to DH to see if he's willing to make anymore donations to my cause.

NC

I've just started a masters! and I have to pick a direction by next term--either mph (masters in public health) or neurobiology! lets talk and I've started the courses and I'm scared about future schooling.

notcitrus · 09/09/2011 09:55

eandz that's a shame.
Re public health - lots of my friends did MScs in PubHealth in London including one just starting. PM me?

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 09/09/2011 10:54

eandz may be too early for bfp?
Don't give up, it took DP and I 7 months to conceive baby no 2. I can't recommend the book 'Taking Control of Your Fertility' that really helped us.

Your masters sounds v impressive.

FannyPriceless · 09/09/2011 11:12

Things are a bit frantic today - but it is S's 3rd birthday so I thought I'd better pop in. I still can't believe it - 3 years!Grin

She is so happy and excited! She has gone off to pre school now with a birthday cake for all her friends.

I thought I had seriously messed up her entire birthday at about 7:30 pm yesterday. We had just got back from holiday in Exmoor (hence why I've been off line for the last week). We put the kids to bed then set to work to assemble her bike and wrap it ready for this morning - only to find that John Lewis had delivered the wrong bike!Shock

I was nearly in tears, as it was too late to organise a replacement delivery. So I'm off there shortly to swap bikes and it will be waiting for her when she gets home. She hasn't noticed yet that the much talked about bike wasn't around... one benefit of being only 3 I guess.Smile

This was on top of the cake debacle. With such limited time I had raced off to the supermarket last night to pick up a Thomas cake - only to find that they have just 'refreshed' their cake selection and no longer do a Thomas one.Angry I panicked and when to two more places with no luck. She was SO expecting a Thomas cake. So I got a nondescript party cake, stuck a toy plastic Thomas on the top, and decorated it with wafer daisies. You should have seen her face - she thinks it's the best cake in the whole world! Whew! Got away with it - just!Grin

Anyway, my other big job today is to find myself an urgent new work wardrobe as I start my new job on Monday - yikes! I'm leaving in 10 mins. (Currently watching the very important rugby match with MrP as I do on line shopping!Wink)

Love to all. carrie Glad the tongue tie was sorted relatively easily. And well done to your DD for starting school.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 09/09/2011 13:56

FP is an Amazonian!! [Grin] Well done and happy birthday to your DD.

eandz my last post should read I can't recommend the book enough it's fab. :)

Just been for a swim. Told my boss my midwife recommends it so I can put it down as 'antenatal'!!

StarlightMcKenzie · 09/09/2011 14:18

DD's birthday too Grin

Had my first contraction about this time 3 years ago.

Don't forget it is OUR birth days too!

StarlightMcKenzie · 09/09/2011 14:24

Oh and DD got what she asked for. So simple yet so frigging difficult to get hold of.

An orange balloon with orange ribbon. I met her after preschool with it. She is currently holding it whilst watching Dumbo (one of her other presents).

We have a party on Sunday. It is a themed party. The theme is 'The Pound Shop'.

Paed appt went well...he seems really nice, ds1 liked him and he listened to us!

We have another appt in 4 weeks (should have been earlier but dh is away with work) and we have a 35 page questionairre to fill in!!! Hmm

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 09/09/2011 15:14

Happy birthday to Star's DD too. Am impressed she'll watch a film C won't, she gets restless after about 30mins unless it's Postman Pat, Peppa or Ben n Holly. Me, I can't watch Dumbo as I end up in floods of tears when his mum rocks him with her trunk cos she's been locked away :(
Same with Bambi too.

I am just glad I watched Sophie's Choice and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas before I became a mum, cos I couldn't watch them now.

Debs75 · 09/09/2011 15:55

Happy birthday to Star and FP's dd's. All Robyn wants is a bike as well. Everytimes he see's one she tells us. Star when MIL was about 4 all she wanted was a box of tissue/wrapping paper but gmil wouldn't get her one. She cried throughtout her birthday until they let her play with the left over wrapping, she didn't touch her toys.

MRSA I cry at Dumbo everytime

Had a fun day at the DEEP with the kids today. Robyn tore through it at 100 mph. The only thing she took her time over was choosing a nemo balloon. Was a cheap day as only paid for ds and dp and they got a pass to get in free for a year. We are going agin when all kids are back at school so we can look at everything slowly

ninja · 09/09/2011 16:27

Pound shop Grin I take DD1 there for a treat!!!!

OK - so I was at lunch with my friends today and was saying I hadn't got M's present yet and one of them said she was selling her balance bike (and I know her it'll be in perfect nick and a good make - it's a scoot) I said I'd have it then my other friend then said she was giving hers away!! (at which the first friend said you should take that one) so do I buy an immaculate one or get a battered but free one? - oh the dilemas I have Wink

StarlightMcKenzie · 09/09/2011 16:32

Get both.

Get the battered one for her birthday, and if she loves it get her an immaculate one for Christmas!? Or else sell it on?

The battered one you can make your own with glitter and paint and it won't have to be perfect knowing that you've got one waiting in the wings.....

Perhaps.

Meglet · 09/09/2011 16:46

bookmarking.....

Meglet · 09/09/2011 21:41

starlight Smile at your DD's orange balloon for her birthday. I used to be dead snobby about the pound shop but these days I stockpile their kids toothbrushes and toothpaste and the birthday cards.

ninja battered and free one. As long as a wheel isn't about to fall off it's a fab present.

eandz Good luck with your masters!

carrie and her GF baby Grin.

Well, DS's first school week went weirdly smoothly. A rather happy anti-climax Smile. He's doing full days next week so I think he'll be a little more tired but he loves it and the teacher says he's settled in beautifully. Both the DC's have grown up in the last week, I feel like I have children instead of toddlers now. Although they did sit in the back of the car yelling "WILLY", "POO", "WILLY", "POO".. at each other earlier. I couldn't tell them off as I was giggling too much.

ninja · 09/09/2011 22:27

Maebh crying, 'Mummy, Joseph called me poo poo'

'Well tell him you're Maebh not poo poo'

Happy smiling Maebh 'Joseph, I'm Maebh not poo'

It won't be that easy for long will it Grin

StarlightMcKenzie · 09/09/2011 22:47

There are just two girls coming to the party, who are sisters that dd adores, so in total with ds there will be 4.

I have wrapped a HUGE parce the parcel (why oh why didn't I remember how painful THAT was?) and in each layer there is a fairy dressing up item as well as glittery make-up and accessories like wands etc.. There is also a sparkly hair band that they have to paint themselves, and a tiara that they have to stick gems on, plus some plain pink vests and a few packets of stick on gems.

Hopefully all that will keep them occupied and resemble some kind of a party. The two girls are a bit older than DD so I think she'll enjoy watching them, and they'll enjoy helping her.

eandz · 10/09/2011 10:54

i love the pound shop! noah's entire rainbow party was pound shopped and i loved every moment it. it was a £12.00 for the whole decoration! the cake tasted like popcorn though :(

eandz · 10/09/2011 10:55

and thank you for the encouragement on next masters guys, it means a lot. most of the people who know me have been rolling their eyes and are saying stuff like: what's the point of this one?
