Sorry Meglet if you wanted to start the thread with your title but I thought I'd best do it while there was still one space to post the link to this one on the last one.

NC I hope you're feeling better Sad anything on the cake (as long as it has icing and sweets will be great). DD1 helped me decorate her last cake - it was meant to be a Harry Potter one and it was completely dreadful, but she loved it Smile

You don't need much for a present either - M just wants a wand and nothing else for her birthday, honestly anything to unwrap will be great.

locks all sorted, I thought H was being more reasonable but today he accused me of 'not having a great track record' with the split and had more demands [sigh]. The thing is he's so adamant that I start to doubt myself.

He truely believes that I forced him out of the house and have dictated things all the way through Confused. I'm so glad I've spoken to people and written stuff here...

DD1's first day at school went well and M was racing to get to the childminder this morning Grin

StarlightMcKenzie · 06/09/2011 22:59

DD and DS going into their settings tomorrow.

DD's birthday on Friday.

Ninja I'm sorry he is still hounding you with nonsense. It's best not to argue back really. Who is he to judge your 'track record' anyway. He is belittling you when you are the only one that has acted like an adult, - at least mostly when his behaviour hasn't pushed you beneath yourself.

StarlightMcKenzie · 06/09/2011 23:00

All DD wants for her birthday btw, is a balloon!

ninja · 06/09/2011 23:24

a balloon Grin

I know Starlight - I think he just can't take it that I'm fine, getting on with things and he's struggling. I think you were perceptive when you said I should have acted really upset.

He also phoned me up this morning (but I didn't hear it) 15 mins before the start of school to sort out DD's hair fgs .....

Becaroooo · 07/09/2011 09:19

ninja star is spot on....you are fine, better than fine actually and its killing him Pathetic really, when you think about it, as the split was his idea...does he even remember that?

Great you have had the locks changed, well done you! You have behaved with admirable retraint and dignity in the face of emotional and mental abuse and awful behaviour. You should be proud of yourself...your dd's will never look back on this time and think badly of you.

Toby is getting some thomas take and play stuff from us for his b day (he is also getting a new winter coat, a scooter and a bike from family members) and I am not doing a party either NC We are having family day out instead.

Have started my xmas shopping yesterday...ds1 is having a ps3 and some stocking fillers and Toby is having various thomas stuff, play doh, puzzles, dvds, books etc

(Boots have a good half price toy sale on atm and Debenhams have got 25% off toys too)

Weather rubbish...what to do with a bored nearly 3 year old all day???? sigh

notcitrus · 07/09/2011 11:12

Thanks for the kind thoughts - feeling a bit better today. Helped by A conking out as soon as he got into bed, even if he did wake at 6am he was happy to be left in front of CBeebies with hot milk!
Seeing MW tomorrow and probably GP next week to see if I can take some decent painkillers yet, not to mention the happy pills. Need to get together all my stash of evidence to show they're safe in pregnancy as usual reaction of docs is Just Say No - may have to use the line "yes, I do have a doctorate in embryonic neurobiology actually" again...

They were out of both red and pink food colouring so no experimental numberjacks yet, but let's face it the required standard for me drawing stuff to order isn't very high, so should be fine. And of course ds will probably love to decorate the cake himself! There should be at least 4 kids in total which is quite sufficient for a party! A present has arrived from my overseas family so that will do if I don't get anything - local supermarket toy aisle was closed down yesterday.

Also had chat with nursery - turns out there's a bunch of his friends settling into preschool already, as apart from the 3 who are turning 4, there's then a gap until around A's age, and he'd be the oldest Toddler if he stayed there. I suppose that's a quirk of a small nursery - the intake has random groups of ages so last year there were kids leaving because they couldn't get into preschool and now there's plenty of space (and next year with 5 kids already there, there will be the problem again of younger kids not being able to move up) So sort of relieved. And they combine all the rooms at the start and end of the day anyway.

We're currently watching the bit in Fantasia with the dinosaurs. A is convinced he's seen lots of dinosaurs at the zoo. I'm not arguing very hard!

eandz · 07/09/2011 14:28

Hello Everyone!

eandz · 07/09/2011 14:33

So, I think I'm infected with the baby bug. The nausea and waves of dizzyness have begun. I've lost my period and everyone keeps telling me i look pg. I have no idea what that means.

StarlightMcKenzie · 07/09/2011 14:36

Really eandz? No idea at all? Wink

StarlightMcKenzie · 07/09/2011 14:39

Sounds good notcitrus. DD's Pepper Pig cake arrived with the internet shop today, which was a blardy risk but it really is all in one piece.

We still haven't decided how we are going to celebrate. It's such a damned inconvenient time to have a birthday..........

eandz · 07/09/2011 14:56

starlight

none!

Can I have some birthday cake?! i'm craving it like easter monday chocolates!

StarlightMcKenzie · 07/09/2011 16:00

I'll ask DD. I'm sure she won't mind.

Becaroooo · 07/09/2011 18:01

eandz You crack me up!!! Smile but early in the year for a virgin birth, surely????? Grin

Toby got really high temp so not going to nursery tomorrow Sad

NC Wow! I didnt know that! About your doctorate I mean! Would you mind very much if I PM'd you re: ds1? Please feel free to say "no"...I know you are feeling crappy and wont take it personally.

Oh, and I have three words for you...shop bought cakes!!! Grin

StarlightMcKenzie · 07/09/2011 18:31

Was that a dig at me? Wink

You lot KNOW I can't cook. How else was I supposed to get dd a cake resembling pepper pig. She would have been devistated at what I would produce.

Becaroooo · 07/09/2011 18:36

NO!!!! I buy shop bought cakes (after making ds1's first two I gave up...it made me hysterical with angst and I ended up with a wonky, dodgily iced cake that ds1 would not eat!!)

Toby will have a thomas cake - again - this year...Tesco's best!!!! Grin

notcitrus · 07/09/2011 19:13

Thing is, i like making cakes and it makes me feel competent. Everything else will be done as simply as possible (ie get a few kids over, either chuck them in the garden or in the lounge with some toys, then food, then it's over...)

becaroo - feel free to PM me, but don't know how much help I can be - I'm not a medical doctor so my knowledge of relevant stuff to any particular condition is rather random! If I can help it'll make me feel useful. :)

Sounds promising eandz!

Meglet · 07/09/2011 20:00

bookmarking...

splish school is going well Smile. Back at work tomorrow, think the school / nursery run then work might be the death of me Hmm.

Back here on Friday after work to catch up properly!

ninja · 07/09/2011 21:30

NC he tells me I forced him out Hmm

OK Ladies - let's talk about 3rd birthday presents! I need some inspiration. I'd like to get a balance bike but I don't know if that's more for me than her as she loves her scooter.

My friend might be getting rid of her plastic play kitchen -

I'm lucky - M just wants flowers on her birthday cake, easy!

I have organsied a party at a play place - it had to be a neutral venue and she'll love it. I went with her to scout one out and even though she didn't know anyone she thought it was her birthday party Grin but then got upset that she didn't get any party food

DD1 has been great with her today. At tea time M wanted some dancing shoes (we'd just given some tap shoes to the girl next door) and I couldn't find anything. DD1 came in and said I'll find you some, ... look here are some invisible dancing shoes (cue me thinking that'll never work) next thing I see if M dancing round the room with a big smile on her face Smile

Then a frind came round at bedtime and I was chatting and DD1 came down and had get M ready into her nappy and PJs and read her story and put her to bed [proud mum emotion]

DebiTheScot · 07/09/2011 21:32

Think I've just about caught up after being away. We got back late Sunday night so Monday was spent doing too many loads of washing (got a bit over-optimistic about how many would dry) and then ds1 was back to school yest and I went into work to flap and panic a bit then started back properly today. Then it was ds1's swimming lesson after school, friend round to hand over a bday present for ds2, tea, bed, make seating plans, plan static lesson, go on computer to mn send important emails.

So a quick summary, sorry if it's a bit brief and I miss anything.

  • Wow at your birth story Carrie and huge congratulations Smile
  • Have you actually done a test eandz? You have to! We're all on tenterhooks now! Grin
  • I got away with not having to do a party for DS2 as we were on holiday on his birthday. And he didn't ask for one. We got him a trunki case and before we went away I put as many of his presents from other people in it as I could and hthen wrapped it up. He opened it last and his face was brilliant when he opened the case and several more presents fell out Smile And his cake was my first ever bought kid's cake as I didn't fancy making one in a caravan!
  • Glad ds has had a good start at school meglet. Hope any more of you with school starters are having a good start (carrie and star and anyone else)

Awe ninja DD1 is a superstar. What a gorgeous, sweet girl you've got there Smile

ninja · 07/09/2011 22:32

Thanks Debi - trust me she does have her moments

I've been following all the school starters on fb, some lovely photos Smile

exh took DD1 to school on her first day back, but I made sure I was there too. Her hair was a wild mess and he asked why I hadn't answered his phone call ..... he'd phoned 15 mins before the start of school to ask if I couold come round and plait her hair as he couldn't do it!!!!!! (luckily I was taking M to childminders so didn't even hear it) Grin

Debs75 · 08/09/2011 09:02

All this talk of parties and cakes is very excitingGrin
I am making a firetruck cake for Robyn, she loves Fireman Sam atm. For presents she is gtting some fireman sam big dominoes, fireman sam spin and play, peppa pig snakes and ladders, a dora talking backpack and some toy story megablocks.
She is currently shouting at me as she can't walk down the stairs alone and needs me, and only me to carry her down. Somedays she is such a little madam and very clingy.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 08/09/2011 09:33

Hello all.

ninja what a star DD1 is. Clearly takes after her mum :) Hope things are going as well as they can and DD1 is doing OK at school with all the changes at home.

Star C is getting a Peppa Pig cake for her birthday party. Last year we asked ABC Cakes to make us a Maisie one (if you ever saw Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, it was the cake shop featured that does cakes for the travelling community. They are very good and down the road from us) but it cost us £30. This year, peppa Pig from Asda will do the job.
We;ve booked the soft play at the local swiming baths. It's fab. £5 a head and they provide party food, drinks and the kids get exclusive use of the soft play. There will be 12 3 yr olds with sole use of slides, ropes, bridges and a ball pit. As C is quite nervous with big crowds, it suits her great.
her birthday is on a Saturday this year. As 2012 is a leap year, I've sadly done my calcs and she won't get another birthday at a weekend until she is 8, so she'll nearly always be in school. Poor thing.

She;s had her birthday pressie early - a scooter. We've also got her 2 jigsaws (one age 6+ as she adores jigsaws and has already cracked a 4+ one) and a Ben n Holly wand. I may also get her a Ben n Holly backpack.

And cos this baby is due in 10 weeks, my next step is xmas pressies to get sorted Grin

Still having hassle from NHS and am losing faith in my comm midwife. I feel great, blood pressure normal (106 over 71 this morning!!) and have made slight changes to my diet (switched to wholewheat pasta and brown rice, blurrgghh) to keep them happy but they still see me as a potential lawsuit waiting to happen.
I'm taking my doula to my next midwife appt but I'm also hedging bets by interviewing an independent midwife on saturday. DP saw how unhappy I was, so is selling a kidney on the black market to fund. Hopefully as I'm 30 weeks, it won't cost as much.........please......!

ninja · 08/09/2011 11:14

spoke too soon - DD1 was a nightmare this morning!!

MrsA that's a fab BP, I hope that you manage to persuade them

Becaroooo · 08/09/2011 13:50

mrsa Good idea re; the independant mw! I know - from bitter experience - that trusting that the NHS have yours or your dc best interests at heart is not always sensible. For far too many of us, its about funding, or postcodes, not about need.

Private paed appt tonight for ds1....gulp. Just been reviewing all his old medical letters/history...makes me so very sad. He got such awful "care" as a neonate and infant and I was too stupid/trusting Sad I thought mw's and GP's and HVs were supposed to help you...I know better now.

Saw osteopath on tuesday re: back and RA and she is not happy...I have muscle loss in my left leg and she kept saying "make sure you tell the consultant that!" everytime I mentioned a symptom Sad Cant be good, can it? 2 weeks til my hospital appt.
