Sorry Meglet if you wanted to start the thread with your title but I thought I'd best do it while there was still one space to post the link to this one on the last one.

Congrats DG Grin what fab news!! Best wishes for a happy healthy next 6 months or so!

Congrats also bec too - a new house is so exciting.

Talking of houses, ours is a disaster. Our builders walked this week as they've run out of money and we've paid as per their payment schedule. So in the long term we can sue for breach of contract and compensation. On short term we have to finish our house quickly before winter sets in and refer to trading standards. To say I'm Angry is an understatement; there are not enough Angry's in the world to show how I feel Sad. Dd1 is noticing the sadness but fortunately dd2 is oblivious.

Becaroooo · 20/10/2011 15:48

Oh kagey I am so sorry! Sad

Meglet · 20/10/2011 22:40

marking my place......

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 22/10/2011 14:41

How awful kagey so sorry.

Becaroooo · 22/10/2011 15:45

Bit quiet, no?

digitalgirl · 22/10/2011 16:51

kagey that is really unlucky Sad. The same thing happened to my parents about 20 or so years ago. The house did get finished in the end but it was an awful, awful time. I really feel for you.

I had another scan today - just for reassurance and it was good. Next scan in a couple of weeks with my private consultant at 17 weeks.

Becaroooo · 22/10/2011 17:34

dg Great news x

Debs75 · 23/10/2011 10:25

Not been here for ages will read up later but all is well here. |Robyn is starting to go nights without a nappy so I will soon be saving £10 a month on nappies

notcitrus · 24/10/2011 12:35

Congratulations digi! I've been following the sagas of our local schools as our borough is about 800 primary places short by 2015, so loads depends on whether our nearest continues to have bulge classes (but is running out of space to put them), or doesn't (in which case ds unlikely to get in). The 3 nearest schools would all be OK if he did get into one.
SIL has to apply for dn this year though, and ended up moving to be 150m away from a certain school - landlord was wanting to put her rent up so she needed to move in any case. Hopefully he'll get in as last admitted child in the last couple years was 230m away...

And much sympathy kagey! Sounds way too familiar...
Are trading standards being helpful? Also keep talking to the guys who worked for the company as they will have gossip about where any money really is. Hope you can get weathertight as soon as possible. [hug]

DebiTheScot · 24/10/2011 16:33

Hope you get it sorted soon kagey
Good luck Bec with your move. Hope it goes smoothly.
Your school situation sounds like a nightmare nc! Are the council planning to do anyth

whoops posted too soon. Meant to say 'anything?'

We're on day 1 of potty train

OP posts:
DebiTheScot · 24/10/2011 16:41

Grr stupid phone!

We're on day 1 of potty training. Thought I'd follow GF's book but ds2 not impressed with being told to sit on potty every 15 mins so I gave up with trying to make it. Since 9am we've had 1 wee in potty at about 10.30, 1 in his nappy when he was napping and 1 accident at about 4pm. And that's it! Not sure if this is good or bad!

OP posts:
Meglet · 24/10/2011 17:15

Angry for you kagey Sad.

Glad to know your scans are ok dg.

I'm on colonoscopy countdown (this friday). As from tomorrow I can't eat much fibre and no food from Thursday morning. . I just want it over and done with now, am dreading them coming back with bad news.

debi That's half-term potty training isn't it Smile. Hope he cracks it fairly soon.

Becaroooo · 24/10/2011 19:09

meg My results were....haemorroids Blush Will be thinking of you x

notcitrus · 25/10/2011 10:13

Council have a publicity campaign asking 50,000 people to write to Michael Gove... they reprieved three BSF schools which were going to be cancelled, but two of those are secondary, hence the primary problem. If the economy picks up more people will do the traditional moving-to-Surrey for schools!

They'll have to put bulge classes in somewhere, so there should be sufficient places in total, but my nearest school has done that 3 years running and is now claiming it has no more space (quite justifiably). The next nearest has only done it once or twice and has more space to start with. Ideally nearest school will be able to buy part of the adjacent supermarket car park (it's a C-shape and no-one uses the back of the C) and build on that. SIL is in a different London borough which isn't nearly as pressured, except for the three 'best' schools, but we both have the same issue that in general schools only take children up to around 500m away! Will be interesting to see if there's a spate of parents getting religion in the next couple years - local school is CofE so half the places are reserved for offspring of parents who have gone to a qualifiying church fortnightly for at least two years, but only filled 10 of 30 such places in the last couple years! The Catholic schools used to be the undersubscribed ones though now at least are filled, again though under half Catholic parents.

And this is why we need the census...

Debs75 · 26/10/2011 14:48

Good luck on the potty training Debi Robyn has had a week of no night nappy and has done great with no accidents as yet.

Bad news on the house Kagey hope you can get them to finish

Good news on your house Bec.
We are still lookiong but there is nothing that would be suitable so I'm still buying them lottery tickets.

NC That is a really small catchment area. Maybe you will need to dust off the sunday best and say your prayersGrin
Wehave no idea on which school as we hope to move. The very nearest to us is rubbish, dd's old school is ok and the next one is pretty good. The one I like is 1mile away and a really tiny school with good teachers. We have to take into account walking time as DP will take the girls to school and still have to be there for DS's bus

DebiTheScot · 27/10/2011 10:47

Good luck for today and tomorrow meglet. I couldn't go that long without food!

How much do your lo's drink? After 2 says of ds2 weeing roughly ever 3 hours I was looking at potty training threads on here and found a couple of posts saying kids should drink 1.5l a day (I know mn isn't quite the font of all knowledge but the posters sounded like they knew what they were talking about with other things they were saying too) so yesterday I tried to make ds1 &2 drink more as they don't drink much at all. Ds1 maybe managed a litre, ds2 750ml max. And that was me on his back all day.
Anyway all that resulted in a few more wees which gave me a chance to do more praising and him a chance to feel the wet & success feelings.

He's at the childminder today so will be interesting to hear how they get on.

I'm currently slobbing on the sofa in my pjs watching This Morning and thinking about maybe going for a run.

OP posts:
Debs75 · 27/10/2011 11:06

Robyn drinks nowhere near that amount. she just isn't interested in drinks until she is thirsty. I offer her one if we have one but she doesn't always finish it.
Slobbing on the sofa doesn't sound like you debi I see you are making the most of half termGrin

Becaroooo · 27/10/2011 11:29

Good luck meg

My 2 dont drink that unless its summer/hot debi.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 27/10/2011 12:17

Good luck from me too Meglet.

Debi I wouldn;t worry about drinks too much - the volume suggested includes fluids in food, so you could always try things like cucumber and 'juicy fruit' (not the chewing gum obviously!). C has a pot of pomegranite seeds every morning so she gets fluid and fibre.
Just keep offering drinks but I believe at this age, they still know best what they need and as long as they're not drinking lots of sugary crap, they'll be fine.

I fel a bit bad cos C is asking for no nappy at night but is easily persuaded to wear one Blush. I just can't be bothered getting up to a wet bed atm - maybe once baby is here and settled.

I am 37+1 today and having twinges but nothing serious atm. Tues night was bad - up most of the night with period pain but it seems to have gone now.
I'd like baby to hang on in there for a few more weeks tbh, as I have (selfishly) plans for mat leave now I know what a new baby entails! This includes C staying at her nana's house next Fri while DP and I - shock - have the house to ourselves!!

I am not really prepared for this baby yet. Hospital bag packed but hoping it won't be needed. Baby clothes washed and new cot mattress bought. Birth pool blown up and tested. But house is a tip and full of dust :)

DebiTheScot · 27/10/2011 13:03

I'm not worried about the drinking, just wondered if it was my kids that were odd or the 1.5l was normal. Ds2's wee was normal colour all day apart from in eve when it was like water so he'd obviously had more than enough.
I am going to keep trying to get ds1 to drink more tho (altho obviously can't make him at schl) as I also read that for children to be dry at night one of the things that has to happen is their bladder has to be big enough to hold a whole night's wee and drinking more during the day an help stretch it. Sounds logical to me & as ds1 isn't dry at night at 5 1/2 it's worth a try.

Meglet · 27/10/2011 17:17

Well, I stopped eating yesterday evening and am now 2 sachets into my colon cleanse, go to take another one shortly. Safe to say, I cannot even go downstairs and am wandering back and forth between my room and the bathroom. I've had more fun. The up-side is that I bought so many glossy magazines to keep me occupied that I have a nice little stash of foundation / perfume / primer / hand-cream samples to play with this weekend, I do so love being shallow Grin. I'm dead worried about what they are going to find tomorrow, it's 6yrs since I first went to the GP's (IBS apparently) so God knows what's been going on in my stomach since then.

debi 1.5lts a day does sound like a lot. I've been drinking small bottles of mineral water all day and 3 of them would be a lot for a small person. I think my dc's would be ok with 2 bottles.

mrsA I'd try and sneakily stick with night-time nappies for a little while yet. DS was dry almost overnight once potty trained but he had pull-ups for another few months just in case. He only had a couple of accidents and I said that if he was wearing pull-ups we wouldn't have to mess about changing pj's and bedsheets and could snuggle down to sleep quicker. Lazy and expensive I know, but after changing it all on a work night and feeling crap the next day I was happy with the lazy route. It didn't set DS back and just made my life a lot easier.

Meglet · 28/10/2011 17:56

Hello all! I survived my colonoscopy! Was very sick this morning and got to go in a wheelchair in the hospital but they were lovely and looked after me. Procedure was fine as I was off my head on pethadine and something else, no stomach pains or wind and had a jolly good sleep this afternoon. They didn't find anything nasty inside either, but they've taken some biopsies just in case, other than that my insides looked fine Smile.

I've managed to keep water and white bread down so I feel more human again.

Hope everyone else has had a good end to the week and has a good weekend. Anyone doing anything Halloween-y? I think we might be going to a tea party after school on monday.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 28/10/2011 19:48

I have a huge great catch up to do......

Glad everything went ok Meglet, it sounds pretty awful to have to go through. The only thing we are doing for Halloween is carving a pumpkin and handing out treats to trick or treaters!

Many many congratulations Starlight, lovely news Smile

Lovely to see you here Digi and another one who wishes you a dull and uneventful pregnancy. I have to admit that I sort of stalked Digi and found out about her pregnancy a while ago. I saw her name pop up on an ante-natal thread and got all nosey Blush Grin

Not long to go now MrsA Smile I'm glad you are happy with your IM.

Wohoo on the new house Bec, how exciting.

Hurrah for a girl NC. If it was me I would be going on a pink shopping frenzy!

I saw Pacita here as well didn't I?

Not much news here. Baby I is 6 months old and a complete chunk. Gawd knows what he weighs, I daren't weigh him! He's got two teeth and is starting on solids. His sleep swings from fab to awful, probably because his day is dictated by M's day so we are only in a loose sort of routine.

M is still enjoying pre school. He qualifies for the 15 free hours early years vouchers in January, so I was going to up his sessions there, then bugger me we received a letter last week telling us that there aren't any available additional sessions in January Hmm. So I'm probably going to have a look into the local nurseries and send him there for a day a week or 2 long mornings (8-1), and still keep his 2 pre school sessions.
