Sorry Meglet if you wanted to start the thread with your title but I thought I'd best do it while there was still one space to post the link to this one on the last one.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Meglet · 10/10/2011 22:45

Shock Wow. I didn't realised you were on your own (ie; without a birth partner) for his birth lolly! Hope you're doing ok and J's tongue tie is sorted out quickly.

Toddlers bones heal quickly from what I've heard (not that I'm a doctor or anything). Is F still able to play and dash about?

ninja · 10/10/2011 22:48

Just wanted to say congratulations, 4 DC Shock

DebiTheScot · 11/10/2011 15:00

Well done Lolly, that must have been scary doing it on your own. Even on the 4th time. Hope F's arm heals well and quickly too.

DS2 has been coming out with some funny lines recently.
"I'm going to put you on the naughty step for 100 weeks!"
"I'm going to phone daddy at work and tell him to bring home a laser then I'm going to laser you!" (said in a very serious and cross voice!)
"When I was a bigger boy I saw..." (can't remember what it was)
In Sainsburys "we don't need sausages, there's sausages in the garden!"

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 11/10/2011 15:50

lolly how amazing, although your 4th - must have been like shelling peas eh? :) Glad things are going well for you.

I am 34 weeks (35 tomorrow). Still have over 3 weeks left in work and just want to sort everything out! At least I am working from home now.

C says funny things too:

'when I was a little piggy I used to sleep in a cot' (thinks she's Peppa pig)
'we went camping last year (it was about 3 weeks ago!)'
On being told she could not have peanut butter until she was 5 years old (allergies in family), she asked 'are you 5 mummy and is daddy 5?'

She has found some of the newborn stuff and is insisting on putting it in her room to look after for the baby. Hmm tricky times ahead methinks. I've gently tried to talk about how mummy might not be able to do everything with her once the baby comes (atm, she won't even let DP brush her teeth, she is such a clingon/mummy's girl) but she just says that she will hold the baby while I brush her teeth for example. Oh dear.

On the plus side she has settled finally into the pre-school room at nursery and is happily doing jigsaws for 4+ years - I am very proud :)

Meglet · 11/10/2011 18:19

LOL at ''are you 5 mummy and is daddy 5?' Grin.

CappuccinoCarrie · 13/10/2011 13:49

Oh no this fell off my threads I'm on!

Lol at the quotes mrsa!

lolly great to see you on here and hear about the birth, so :( your DH missed it. And sorry to hear about Fraser's arm too, poor chap.

DS2 is growing soooo fast, weighed in at 13lb 1oz yesterday (6w3d) and is firmly in 3-6m clothes! Since Sunday he's only woken once a night around 3:30 which makes such a difference, although last night I was up with him for quite a while due to a middle of the night double poo scenario.

Playgroup have just phoned and they have space for DS1 from January, now I'm in a tizz about whether or not to put him in! Of the three sessions they've offered only one actually suits, and its the one morning when he's normally in a creche for our mums cell group (church thing) so it could work quite well. I'm worried about him only doing one session a week though, what if that's not enough for him to make friends and settle in?

notcitrus · 13/10/2011 17:37

Good to hear from you lolly.

Just had my scan. All well, and they can now blood flow in different directions in colour which was very cool. MrNC and I were dead chuffed to find despite first impressions, it's a girl as we have a girl name chosen nearly 10 years ago. :)

I feel I can finally look forward to this baby and buy some stuff. I've been referred back to individual physio care for my SPD and still exhausted - no idea if I'll go back to work after my sick note runs out in November. But very happy.

This weekend we're back to the ILs to collect our repaired car and play in the New Forest. A hopes to find a gruffalo there. He's been performing the Rhino Song and the Green Anaconda song to his impressed preschool friends (on YouTube - very cute but terrifyingly catchy animated songs!) and happily walking to nursery 'I want to play with my friends', though we need to take the pushchair to collect him as he's so tired. He's also been wanting to sleep without a nappy... with mixed success, either going to the potty but then wanting a nappy, or wanting a nappy on then wanting it off to go wee, or waking up and going to do a wee beautifully - until it transpires it was weeing that woke him up. Think I'll push the nappy for a bit longer - any tips?

digitalgirl · 13/10/2011 22:09

Hello ladies - been lurking since forever. Just wanted to pop in and let you know that after some fairly controversial steroid treatment I'm now 13 weeks pregnant. Had the dating/nt scan this week and all looking good so far.

Glad to hear all's well with most of you. Carrie congrats on the birth of your little one. And lolly! Number 4 - wow!
MrsA not long at all now. Congrats to nc too.

DS thriving at pre-school. Apparently he's very chatty and makes everyone laugh with the things he comes out with. Guess he saves all his best jokes for school! Currently wondering whether to keep correcting him from calling dh by his first name...

Meglet · 13/10/2011 22:32

digi Congrats. Wishing you a very, boring routine pregnancy Smile. Glad your DS is happy at nursery, he'll be starting school next Sept won't he?! Do you still have your mum living with you these days?

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 13/10/2011 22:33

digi oh so well done - congrats and I'm so pleased for you after all you've been through.

digitalgirl · 13/10/2011 23:12

Meglet, no she moved back at the beginning of the year. She comes over once a week to mind ds. We're getting on much better now.

MrsA, yes it's been a slog but hopefully all worth it.

wotestreetwilly · 16/10/2011 21:24

bookmarking. Hope you've all had nice weekends Smile.

I'm having my colonoscopy in a couple of weeks. Not exactly looking forward to it, I can't eat for over 24 hrs beforehand (I will starve) and have to drink some terrifying laxative stuff so my insides are empty Sad. Will probably be on here moping inbetween trips to the loo.

The plus side is that I will have a very flat stomach Confused.

DD's potty training is now pencilled in for Xmas holidays. She's still being a pest at nursery and they can't get her to do it consistently. We don't really have anything on over Xmas so will try and crack it then.

wotestreetwilly · 16/10/2011 21:38

I shouldn't be allowed to name change for other threads .

'Tis meglet here.

Better go change back.

Meglet · 16/10/2011 21:40

Back to normal.

I won't fiddle with my name ever again as I get muddled.

CappuccinoCarrie · 17/10/2011 12:30

Wow DG congratulations! I echo the cry for a thoroughly dull pregnancy for you!
NC a girl! Can't wait to hear the name you've been keen on for so long, exciting times!
Lol at the name meglet.
I like the idea of pencilling in potty training, makes it sound like you've given it some thought. I will likewise 'pencil it in' for Christmas holidays and push it firmly to the back of my mind til then.
I've accepted two mornings a week for DS1 at playgroup from Jan, they don't require him to be potty trained. I'm as nervous about playgroup for him as I was for pfb DD. I still see him as my baby!
Talking of the baby, he didn't wake til 5am this morning, then back to sleep til 7, so we're inching ever closer to sleeping through . Both DSs are asleep right now and frankly if you can't beat em, join em. Night all!

Becaroooo · 17/10/2011 12:49

DG congrats!

NC a girl......how lovely

Am waiting til xmas to potty train Toby. Also waiting til maybe easter to try him at nursery again

Have just put on offer in on a house - gulp - waiting to hear now!

DebiTheScot · 17/10/2011 13:33

Congrats digi, so happy for you Smile
And glad to hear everything was good in the scan NC

Pencilling in potty training (actually probably toilet training really since they're all quite big) is a good idea for you and them. With ds1 we planned to do it after a holiday and we spent a couple of weeks telling him before hand that as soon as we got back from holiday he'd be in pants. It worked really well and I'm trying to do the same again now with the plan to do it in half term. So we'll see howit goes. I'm not sure ds2 is as ready as ds1 was though.

I also read somewhere (mn probably, don't read much else!) that there's research to show that it makes no difference when you start training them. They'll do it when they're ready. So if they're going to be ready at 3 and you start trying at 2 1/2 it'll take 6 months but if you start at 3 they'll get it straight away.

OP posts:
MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 17/10/2011 15:13

NC didn't see you are having a girl, sorry - how lovely. C spotted her size 3month designer dress from Jasper Conran in the wardrobe yesterday (it was my only extravagant purchase and I loved it) as we're keeping it as a souvenir and wanted to try it on, bless. I am a bit scared of boy babies and some days would like to turn back the clock to when C was a baby.

God, that all sounds crap - how hormonal and rubbish am I??

Carrie I spent yesterday with a good friend who bf for at least a year and who scared the crap out of me by telling me how her DD did not sleep more than 3 hours for well over a year as she bf for ages throughout the night, then also during the day it was just feed, feed, feed. She wished me luck with bf as I'd need it!
So I may well need some good advice from you given DS2's great sleeping!. I'm not GF through and through but am more of that leaning than an attachment parent.

Digi hope all is nice and quiet/boring.

On nappies etc, totally agree with Debi. C was definately ready to come out of nappies in the day at 2yrs and 3 months. She's been out almost a year now and it took a weekend and she was dry.
But she's still in nighttime nappies as she's a very deep sleeper and wouldn't wake for a wee, though does wake for a poo (her favourite time for a poo is about 10pm). With the baby coming, she can tell me when she doesn't want a nighttime nappy -I'm not pushing it.
My nephew was also out of nappies around the same age but with my neice, it took her till she was 3 and a half to even show an interest.
They are ready when they are ready.

Well, I am 35 weeks and looks like the hospital finally realise I'm not coming back unless it's an emergency. Despite telling them I had an IM engaged, they were still chasing me for growth scans. I finally spoke to a lovely mw today who promised she would remove my name from the routine scan list.
We blew the birth pool up at the weekend to test it - flamin nora it's big!!! Looks great and I hope beyond hope that I will get to use it.
Still wokring from home for another couple of weeks :(
Baby goes from being high up and making me breathless and no appetite/sick to going low down and my appetite returns but then I waddle! IM thought he might start to engage soon as he was low down when she last saw me. She's pretty happy he is head down and not back to back.

Becaroooo · 18/10/2011 20:16

Had our house offer accepted today Smile

Its a 4 bed detached with a converted garage and conservatory.

Only draw back is they want us in at end of Nov!

Busy 6 weeks for me, then! Smile

Hope you are all well?

CappuccinoCarrie · 18/10/2011 20:40

Oooooh sounds wonderful bec! What a year you'll have had!

CappuccinoCarrie · 18/10/2011 20:41

I've just noticed the Thanks emoticon!

Pacita · 19/10/2011 22:07

Hello friends,

goodness, it's been ages again. No matter how hard I try to post more regularly (rather than lurking in the sidelines like a common vampire) there never seems to be a spare second, or I am a hopeless heap of tiredness.

Anyway, it's lovely to read so many good news:

Digi, I am ECSTATIC that you are properly pregnant, and I think a dull pregnancy is a fair request. I hope you have the dullest pregnancy ever and a lovely lo at the end of it.

Becaroo, so happy you finally found your house. It sounds big and lovely, and I think the fast move may work in your benefit, as you'll have your xmas tree in the new place to christen it properly. We moved to our new house about a year ago now, and it's been wonderful. Despite needing some serious insulation, we love it so much. The house, the neighbours, the schools near by...

NC, congrats on your girl!

And Meglet, I've had an endoscopy. I don't suppose a colonoscopy is any better. Good luck and bon courage.

So ladies, I'm back at work and managing to still breast feed. My offices have relocated relatively near, so I can cycle to work. The cycle back is hurried, as my breasts tend to be like two bags of marbles at the end of the day.

Pacita · 19/10/2011 22:11

Sorry, posted too early. Anyway. Diego is loving the nanny, and so is Inés. Hopefully now that they have a spanish carer three days a week, they'll speak their mother tongue as well as English (Diego choses English. I think he thinks that's what children are supposed to speak).

Inés has been teething. The first tooth is out, but we have had a week of virtually NO SLEEP. A suffering baby being walked up and down the stairs in the middle of the night. You know the drill. Carrie, I'm dead jealous your LO is a sleeper!

How are you getting on, Ninja?

MrsA, not long to go. HOld on to that pool and to nice, quick and easy birth thoughts. My fingers are crossed for you.

digitalgirl · 19/10/2011 22:45

bec congrats on the offer acceptance. Wow a 4 bed detached house - that is a proper grown up house, am v jealous!

We have plans to do a loft conversion. Actual plans, drawn up by a structural engineer and everyfink. But no real money to do it with. And I hated the idea of going through the pain of adding another bedroom and there not being another child to fill it. So we're waiting till this second child is well and truly born and fighting over bedroom territory with A before embarking on a big building project.
So instead we're going to build a porch and get the downstairs renovated with a lovely new floor and some proper understairs shelving and cupboards.
Anyone else sick to death of the big disorganised pile of toys in the corner of the living room?

Also, is anyone else looking at schools yet or am I one of the only ones with an August baby? We did our second school tour today. We're only in the catchment area for two schools and they're both lovely but very different. I think I'm veering towards the larger of the two (3 form entry vs 1 form entry). Which is probably just as well as it's closer and we have a better chance of getting DS into it. Feels very very grown up to be making such decisions though.
But hopefully I will be able to do the first term of drop offs and pick ups at big school before going back to work and having to organise wraparound care for him plus part-time all day care for the baby.

Oh gosh, I've written an essay and am now about to run out of battery on the laptop. Will catch up on everyone else tomorrow...must force myself off to bed.

Becaroooo · 20/10/2011 08:11

DG I know Grin I feel all adult and proper!!

pacita lovely to hear from you...great news about the nanny.

meg are you having an endoscopy?? I have had both - a "double dip" as it is rather charmingly known in the trade Hmm so PM if you want a chat x

Have instructed the solicitors and sorting mortgage today....eeeek!
