Sorry Meglet if you wanted to start the thread with your title but I thought I'd best do it while there was still one space to post the link to this one on the last one.

book marking!

Stomach update....I can happily report than soya milk is ok in tea, gluten free bread is just about bearable (if stuffed with leftover roast chicken) and sainsburys Free From choc brownies are suprisingly good Smile. Fake parmesan is kack, but it'll do for now.

bec You poor thing Sad. I hope your week goes quickly and you can slow down at the weekend.

CappuccinoCarrie · 20/09/2011 21:14

DH is doing an online shop to get the things for DS1's birthday tea on Friday, and uttered the words "shall we get fruit shoots?" Shock [anger] Confused
He'll be buying pom bears and suggesting we order the rest in from Greggs next! He has also been doing his research so he can work out what confectionery to buy to create a "Mater with nee-naw monster truck" cake. I believe the crane at the back is going to be made with kit kats. He's actually taken Friday off work to make this creation, so I'll let him off the minor indiscretion with the fruit shoots Wink

meg you poor thing. FIL has coeliacs so we buy stuff for him when they visit. Asda's naan bread is supposed to be quite nice, and lasagne made with gluten free lasagne is delicious, I wouldn't know the difference if I hadn't been told. There are some yummy cookies out there too, and if you're going out and about then the National Trust cafes often have gluten free alternatives!

bec I'm sorry you're having a bad week :( Take some time for yourself if you can

Well you'll be pleased to know that DS2 had a much more baby-whisperer sort of a day and even self settled to sleep tonight with barely a whimper . However since pride comes before a fall I'll put it down to sheer good luck Grin

exh once bought fruitshoots - I waited 'til they'd passed their sell by date then checked them. I admit my children have had the odd one while out with a meal but they taste horrid and we just take drinks out with us.

meg if you need any recipes let me know and I'll ask my mum - she's a wizz. She has a good crumble recipe using cornflakes, her chocolate brownies are fab (I think she uses rice flour and ground almonds), she makes buckwheat (I think) pancakes. She has a bread machine and makes gluten free bread .....

Carrie sounds an interesting cake, M just wants flowers on hers so should be easy Smile I have to make 3 though as I have friends round for a birthday lunch, DD1 wants her to have abirthday tea and then there's her party!

Becaroooo · 21/09/2011 09:13

meg the GF caramel shortbreads from tesco are AMAZING

Toby loves Fruit shoots Blush and my mum has a huge supply so of course he makes a beeline for the kitchen every time we go!

Thanks for the sympathy...Tom wasnt too bad this morning actually...was expecting much more upset/crying etc than we had. We will all have to get used to dh going away as he moves roles at work after xmas and will be travelling much more...he has also just booked a jolly for him and his mates to go to China for 4 days in Feb!!!! Hmm Apparently it was "only" £500. Men!!!!!

Getting fed up of house hunting...not even sure what we want and what we are willing to spend!!

Hospital tomorrow Nervous.

(Toy has picked a ready made cake with stars on from Tesco!!! Oh well, saves me a job!)

Debs75 · 21/09/2011 09:17

Put a pic of Robyn's cake on facebook. You can only look if you promise not to laugh at the deflated wheels.

Have had 3 good days with the potty training. She is taking herself to wee and if we tell her she has to go she isn't arguing back at us. She has had a few accidents but nothing like last week

CappuccinoCarrie · 21/09/2011 13:15

Love the cake debs, would never laugh at someone's home-made efforts as I'm rubbish at cake creating and very impressed whenever anyone gives it a go. Actually I say never laugh but I make one exception for my friend who made a number 1 cake and put the little line at the top on the wrong side Grin
bec China for four days. So is that two days travelling and two days there...?!!! Men indeed...!!
DS1 got a birthday present in the post yesterday and was very good about not opening it and waiting til Sunday. Then I told him a friend is coming round this afternoon to give him a present and he burst into tears and said "But I've already got a present!". Not too sure how its going to go when he receives said present...! Well I guess its better than being greedy! We've never asked our kids what they want for their birthdays or Christmas, just given them a few bits, but DD at 4.5 has suddenly clocked that birthday=presents and is getting excited on DS1's behalf (and talking lots about Christmas ). They're loving all the new stuff we're getting for DS2 as well. I'm loving the amount of wine and chocolate we've been given, and there have been several apple/rhubarb crumbles too Grin

Becaroooo · 21/09/2011 13:28

carrie I know!!!! Its madness, madness I tell ya!! Grin
I think your ds and Toby share a b day? (sunday?)
We are taking the boys to on a local steam train for a trip and then I am doing a small b day tea (just boys, nephews and GPs really).
Toby doesnt ask for anything but ds1 has worked out that Santa miraculously brings what he asks for (well, mostly!) He has asked for a ps3 this year

Toby has got a Thomas Take and Play Misty Island play set, some engines and dvd for his b day from us. Scooter from my mum. Bike from PIL and SIL. Clothes from my sister. So...not a bad haul!!!! Grin

Debs75 · 21/09/2011 13:45

Thankyou Carrie It was going so well until I messed up the wheels, and by then I couldn't be bothered to fix it. It did taste great which in the end is the only thing that matters.

Robyn worked out birthdays=presents at Lucy's bday and had been asking ever since. She hasn't worked out Christmas yet but she has time

ninja · 21/09/2011 14:59

Well - the blank and orange balance bike has had its tyres pumped up, its saddle taken down, the brake fixed and I've added handlebar tassles and pink flowery stickers to try and make it look more girly. Sadly it looks like a transvestite bike a bike with an identity problem but I'm hoping I'll get away with it.

We were brought up with dungarees and short hair cuts but my 2 are very aware of stereotypes (while still being quite tom boyish)

Becaroooo · 21/09/2011 17:24

ninja "transvestite bike"

Am still laughing!!!

Grin
ninja · 21/09/2011 17:50

I'll have top take and post a picture - you'll see what I mean Grin

StarlightMcKenzie · 21/09/2011 18:02

Hi all,

We went to London zoo yesterday. DS's favourite was the pirhanas Hmm and dd's favourite was the pigs.

All sounds grand on the bikes front.

How are things going ninja?

Becaroooo · 21/09/2011 19:06

star Sounds like ds1...he loves anything that can strip the flesh from things! Hmm

ninja Please do!!!!

CappuccinoCarrie · 21/09/2011 20:11

ninja we need to see the transvestite bike with an identity crisis!
Yes bec our boys are birthday buddies! Haven't dared look at the forecast for Scarborough on Sunday, hope its good coz DS is very excited about his birthday treat. Although our local (warm) Franky and Bennies do ice cream and fish n chips so perhaps DS1 won't notice the lack of sand and sea if we go there instead?!

DebiTheScot · 21/09/2011 21:52

Oh fruitshoots aren't that bad (although I agree they taste disgusting to adults). I don't buy them often but do occasionally. Although actually when I do it's usually Tesco/Asda etc own brand. I find them handy if we're going out for a long day where they'll need more than 1 cup of juice as we only own 2 cups that don't leak.

I don't think I'm your fb friend debs, I thought I was but a fire engine hasn't appeared on my homepage.

I'm meant to be working but am drooling over kevin McCloud instead!

Mumsnet crashed when I tried to load the photo - it was THAT bad Grin - I'll try again but I suspect the file is too big

notcitrus · 22/09/2011 08:58

There's some fruit shoots now that really are just dilute juice.
Though A has acquired a taste for the expensive fresh juice ranges at the supermarket - we've got him down from Innocent and Tropicana to Sainsbo's own! Still, it's fixed his constipation problem - I'm so happy to see effortless poos!

A's given up his daytime nap (unless we're in the car), resulting in being hellspawn all afternoon, punching me in the face, throwing plates of food, etc. He might have finally clocked after 15 minutes of me holding his wrists that hitting people results in life getting really boring... let's hope so. Nursery are trying a sticker chart for eating nicely, but given he doesn't want any toy at the moment and would prefer plain bread to most treats, it's not going well so far.
But he conked out at 6.30 last night and seems much more cheerful today.

Becaroooo · 22/09/2011 09:01

NC I feel your pain. Toby seems to think he doesnt need his pm sleep ow (he does of course!)

Poor thing has woken up this morning full of snot...just in time for his b day :(

Debs75 · 22/09/2011 15:55

I think Lolly has had her baby, there is an update on facebook.

Debi you are, or I have another debi friend who goes running. I like Kevin as well, was the house really good? I have sky+ it to watch one night.

Robyn hasn't had a daytime nap for absolutely ages, even in the car. She is asleep by 8pmish and then back up by 7am. Around 3pm I need a nap

Becaroooo · 22/09/2011 16:37

Yes, just seen it deb Lovely! Little boy, no name yet.

Hospital appt went ok....14 bloods tests and 4 x rays later!!!!

Got to go back in 2 weeks for results

CappuccinoCarrie · 22/09/2011 16:46

Hooray congrats lolly!
Oh bec I'm glad that's over for you, 14 blood tests?!!
I'm so hungry today, had an afternoon snack of 4 slices of toast and a banana, think I need a sugary tea too.
Its baby boot camp tonight, Elliot is going in his own room. He wakes every 2-2.5 hours over night for a slurp of milk and I'm knackered, I think there's every chance we can eliminate one of those wakings at least as he's prob just coming into a light sleep and would settle back on his own given half a chance. I'll leave both doors wide open so we can hear him. If it doesn't work he can always come back in with us easily enough.
DS1 has decided not to sleep a couple of times this week, but other days he's had 2.5 hours, so I'll still put him to bed and hope Grin
Better go make some tea...

DebiTheScot · 22/09/2011 16:47

I thought I was debs, will have to have a look again. I think sometimes fb is selective about what it shows.

14 blood tests Bec!!!! That's crazy!

I won't tell you how long ds2 sleeps for in the aft and what time he then goes to bed at!
