Sorry Meglet if you wanted to start the thread with your title but I thought I'd best do it while there was still one space to post the link to this one on the last one.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Debs75 · 14/09/2011 12:24

GGrrgghhh. Just been to Toys r us to buy Robyn's balance bike and it has gone back up to £50. Need to find a good one that isn't too expensive before Monday. Any suggestions Carrie.
Then I went to boots to get nappies and the buy 2 get 1 free offer had finished yesterday.
And Robyn's 2 year pilot has cut the funding so she is back down to 2 days a week not 3. It is just not my day today

Meglet · 14/09/2011 16:24

bec DS cried yesterday! I knew it was going too well! He was a bit better today though, hopefully it's was just a blip.

StarlightMcKenzie · 14/09/2011 17:04

Sorry about your day Debs75.

Mine has been very unproductive. I have ignored the children and ignored the housework. I am just too exhausted after getting through the first week of term I feel I need to sleep for a week.

DS has painted DD with glittery nail varnish and I have no nail varnish remover...................................

notcitrus · 14/09/2011 17:39

Ug. Got signed off work yesterday - for 8 weeks. Feel like total wuss. Though didn't argue - A was send home from nursery 20 mins after I got him there, as he threw up twice. Then he had a nap and was then full of bounce for the rest of the day.
Was supposed to go for another shedload of blood tests this morning including fasting one, but A decided that throwing up and having a poo explosion in his bed was a good idea - by the time I'd got that cleaned up and him bathed, I wasn't going anywhere.

We did manage a good game of pretend though while I lay down in bed.
Visiting the ILs this weeked for the first time all summer and I don't want to miss it - hopefully I'll be able to lounge while FIL plays with the boys in the garden...

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 15/09/2011 16:03

Oh NC how do you feel about being signed off for so long? Relieved perhaps??

Hope things get better soon.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 15/09/2011 16:05

Star I really have no words of comfort as I am not in your situation but glitter isn't the worst thing in the world :)
Hope you get some rest - you certainly need it!

StarlightMcKenzie · 15/09/2011 16:58

LOL. Ah, it's still on her but we'll all get through this difficult phase.

DH and I have decided we'd like to try for another. Perhaps life is just getting too easy.........

Meglet · 15/09/2011 16:58

star The school run is killing me too. I could have cried today and wanted to curl up into a ball at work. My IBS has gone through the roof so I've cut back on food as I don't have time to go to the loo all morning and am shattered, got hospital apt on Monday to see consultant as they think it might be Crohns (joy) and will mean I need to have GA soon to find out. Am rather hoping it's nothing grim, whatever it is has been getting worse over 7 years. And whatever it is it doesn't make mornings (or eating at all) very easy.

Did the nail polish come off ok?

StarlightMcKenzie · 15/09/2011 17:27

Meglet, it isn't linked to your other issues is it, the ones that led to your operation recently?

Sorry you're going through it.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 15/09/2011 19:59

meglet I kind of feel ur pain. DP has ibs and spends 30mins plus on the loo in the morning, and often goes several more times during the day. I spend myt life waiting for him outside loos if we're out for the day. When I was in labour with C, he ate nothing for 24 hrs, just in case. I hope you get some help.

CappuccinoCarrie · 16/09/2011 14:20

debs sorry I've been meaning to answer your question about balance bikes. I'm not sure of good ones under £50 I'm afraid...generally I prefer the wooden ones as the cheap metal/plastic ones can be quite poor quality. this one is good but even on ebay is going for £45.
Islabike are a fantastic make, and there's one on ebay at the mo but its the wrong end of the country for you I'm afraid...
Sorry that was most unhelpful.
Took DS2 for his newborn hearing screening this morning. That's 3 hospital trips we've had since he was born, and I'm back there again on Tuesday with DD for an ultrasound to check up after her kidney infection. At least the hospital has a Costa coffee Grin
DS2 had a really bad night last night, didn't settle til 9:30 and was awake every couple of hours feeding badly and not settling well. Don't know if he's poorly or if something I ate has made him windy? He's asleep on my lap right now, he doesn't seem able to do happy awake today :( Thankfully DH has got a paternity day, I was totally worn out and in tears by the end of yesterday after two days on my own and seeing too many people in that time. I seem to have turned into an introvert and crave time on my own, when I've always been a classic extrovert who is energised by being with people!
So sorry about the IBS meg and being signed off NC. How are you feeling about that?
Is life still sparkly and glittery star?!

ninja · 17/09/2011 07:46

Happy Birthday Charlotte!!

Hope everyone is feeling better today, September is a hard month - especially when the weather's not good Sad

Meglet · 17/09/2011 09:24

star & MrsA it's been much worse since my hysterectomy, I wonder if there are some adhesions that have mashed up my insides a bit, the consultant said I was a bit stuck together after my cs's. My GP thinks it may have been triggered when I caught a God-awful bug in China 8 years ago, it's never been right since and we never really diagnosed what I caught. My poor stomach has been through the mill a bit what with op's and illness.

carrie You and your Costa trips are like me and Pret sandwiches Grin. Sorry you are feeling wiped out. Can you have some quiet time at home this weekend?

ninja I just looked at the 5 day forecast for us, rain for the next 5 days.

nc Hope you're starting to feel a bit better.

Lollyheart · 17/09/2011 17:08

Book marking.

Happy birthday c.

Still pregnant, due date tomorrow.

Debs75 · 17/09/2011 18:10

Happy birthday Charlotte.
Good luck with the imminent birth LollY

Carrie we wnt on amazon and have bought one. I wanted a wooden one with pink flowers on it but dp liked a metal one. I think we ordered the metal one, will link a pic when I put it together tomorrow night. I rememberb feeling i wanted people to leave me alone after having Lucy. I think a combination of kids on holiday and visitors was too much, it didn't last though.

ninja · 17/09/2011 23:10

Debs metal is probably the way to go. I like the wooden ones too but had a friend who got her girl a wooden one which she never used 'cos it wasn't 'a real bike' :(

I have collected the free one - it's black and orange and M is sadly a pink girl so I may need some stickers and to jazz it up a bit!!

Kagey · 18/09/2011 19:40

Happy belated birthdays! Erin is 3 today and is over the moon with her new bike. We went for a toddler bike rather than a balance one as she couldn't get around the fact it had no pedals.

Best wishes lolly I hope baby doesn't make you wait too long and today is a good birth date .

Debs75 · 18/09/2011 22:42

Happy Birthday Erin

Have just finished decorating robyn's fire truck cake. It isn't too bad but the wheels look a bit deflated. She won't care when I tell her Fireman Elvis made it and sent it overBlush.
On Saturday she saw a fire engine and waved at the driver, he waved back and flashed his lights at her and she was so excited, she was shouting 'Hi Fireman Sam' for ages

So I think I am losing it today. I have been meal planning to try and save money and today was roast chicken(from Morrisons). I had a nap before tea and when I started it I put meat pies in the oven.Confused. About 10 mins later I got out the chicken and carved it up. It was only when I was dishing up the veg I realised what I had done.
The meat pies were lovely and I have saved the chicken for tomorrow now but I can't believe how daft I was

notcitrus · 19/09/2011 10:11

Ug - thanks for the sympathy people. A has got over his tummy bug so got dragged to nursery kicking and screaming on Friday and today - despite being absolutely fine a few mins later... Took me half an hour to get a fleece and shoes on him today as he manages to curl up in a ball with his hands on his head to stop me getting the arms in!

There's no way I could do any work atm so how I feel about it is fairly irrelevant, but basically just relieved. And for various reasons my career has gone down the toilet over recent years and I'm considering only working 6 weeks after mat leave (so I don't have to pay it back), so really it could be much, much worse. A senior colleague ran into me this morning as I was sitting on a wall on the way home, so she can vouch to everyone that I do indeed look like shit!

MrNC has had the d+v bug too, but I seem to be recovering from that at least. So hoping we will actually get to see my ILs this weekend as have been putting that off since June as I've been so ropey (rescheduled from this weekend). My mum was able to come help for a bit on Thursday which was wonderful though A did complain that I keep trying to get rid of him so I can sleep and it's not fair... he has a point. Managed to go for the blood tests at least.

Meglet · 19/09/2011 12:09

Happy monday morning everyone! So far this morning I've have a school refusing child, a camera up my bottom (small fissures, nothing obviously dreadful) and a blood test.

The consultant was ok actually, they still need to do a proper colonoscopy under sedation but he has got them to check for coeliac disease and a few other bits with the blood test. Not sure why they've not done that before, I've been having problems for 6 years now Hmm.

CappuccinoCarrie · 19/09/2011 12:26

NC and meg you guys are really going through the mill. I think we all need a piece of debs fire engine cake to perk us up!
DS2 is having the most un-GF day ever and I have no idea what to do next Confused. He's been asleep all morning having got up at 5:30 but I don't want him to sleep all day.
DS1 hardly had any breakfast, refused lunch and has taken himself off to bed, hope he's not coming down with something.
Maybe I'll try for a nap on the sofa and then decide on a plan of action with my sleeping boys. Must remember to pick up DD at 3 though...!

ninja · 19/09/2011 23:36

Meg my dad is coeliac - he reckons his was triggered by a severe bug caught abroad (he's never been the same after a year spent in Bolivia). Have to say I hope it's not that but there is lots of good information out there if it is and a lifetime of free prescriptions!

Meglet · 20/09/2011 00:17

carrie hope DS2's routine settled down in the end. Maybe he needs a baby wall planner next to his cot so he knows what he's meant to be doing when, 7am feed and nappy, 9am power nap etc. A nice pastel coloured one would do Wink.

My day ended with a bowl of gluten free pasta. I'm going to have to try and substitute as many gluten / dairy foods as possible and see if my stomach settles down. Can see this whole thing ending up with me having to eat meat properly so I can keep my strength up.

nc dd mucks about like that when I want to do her teeth or get dressed. These days I just skip the bribery and go into full blown sargeant major mode. She really can be maddening

Better have a shower and get to bed I guess. I just had to iron ds's school trousers and give his shoes a little polish. Am so worried about him not wanting to go to school I'm in a hyper-stressed have to do lots of things type of mode.

Debs75 · 20/09/2011 08:49

Robyn loved the Fire Engine cake. She didn't mind in the end that it wasn't Dora, or that the wheels looked a bit deflated.
Sorry carrie not much left now but it was delicious, I will try and pop a pic on Facebook later. The bike we got was a Chicco bullet. She likes it and has wandered about on it quite a lot now. She can't go faster then a slow walk but she will get the hang of it. Oh and Lucy was a bit like that at first. for the first 4-6 weeks she just slept and ate so we had no routine with her. I remember ds as well having a mammoth sleep for 7 hours one early evening when he was 2 weeks old. They just need to sleep sometimes and he is so young he has loads of time to work out night and day later. Enjoy the peace.

Meg my dsis has IBS and she struggled for a long time if she touched pasta or bread.

Becaroooo · 20/09/2011 09:00

meg I am trying to cut down on wheat based stuff too - I have had ishoos on and off for years - and I too have the the dreaded camera up the whazoo twice!

Think I may have really f**ked up with Toby....since trying him at nursery (huge mistake) he is now so clingy its awful...he follows me everywhere and has just spent 20 mins crying and wailing because he doesnt want to go to GPs - where he goes EVERY tuesday and has done for the past 2 years!!!
Dh is away with work this week and I am knackered and fed up and worried about my hospital appt on thursday and wondering how the hell I can go without Toby going into full on meltdown.

sigh.
