ugh i hate cock roaches, yes loasd in crete,i was in Ag nic, went on holiday with boys and stayed hosting a karaoke for the season,my Mum had a catsbum mouth for about a year afterwards GrinI lived on my credit card and had a small room as a salary,we lived on cereal and egg and chips that the owner made us.
I also went to portugal when Ella was a baby to oversee my friends ballet company rehearsals whilst he was in uk with his wife having a baby,i had a lovely summer only worked first thing in the morning and in the evening-too hot to dance and lay on the beach the rest of the time.
Ah shame about your outfit jane pity that.

Ponyo I am a tad fed up of being awake at dawns crack very day,7 would be nice.

Had a nice day with dgs,Ella is off to Pepper Pig world with them tomorrow.
Dilly is hillarious today, she keeps peeping around things at me and laughing. She sat at the table and threw party food around but kept leaning to the side like my mum taught her and nearly fell out.

deb Shock to cockroach Confused

jane

americanexpat · 03/09/2011 21:57

deb - boak at the cockroach. I don't mind most bugs but cockroaches are over the line for me. And well done to Imy!

Delia - I hope C is on the mend this weekend.

wiggles - lovely photos, especially love the one of O.

Borg - N is gorgeous, is his sleeping any better? L has gotten much better since he's started eating more real food, he actually slept 10-6 the other night. Shock

It feels like it's been ages since I posted. The only solution I have to the early waking problem is a later bedtime. We started putting L to bed at 10 and now he sleeps until at least 7:30 (9:30 today).

L is on 3 meals a day, usually porridge and fruit for breakfast, something he can feed himself for lunch (a peanut butter sandwich lately) then whatever we're having for dinner. I must be spending too much time with the Netmums because he had Dominos last night Grin and ate nearly an entire slice himself. Shock He definitely prefers his food in chunks that he can "chew".

debka · 04/09/2011 06:56

Hi expat, been a while! Glad L is sleeping a bit better for you at last. There's no way I could have a baby up with me till 10 though, I need my evenings!!!

reastie I always thought those annabel wotsit recipes were a load of faff. I'm sure yours are better and easier! I just do really simple stuff and mostly just mush up what we're having. Last night I fed the girls early, they had waffles and beans- S ate a big bowl of mushed up beans (I get the reduced salt ones). We had a Chinese and a film, it was great.

byron congrats on mobility!! V exciting!!!

Imy did all her wees on the potty yesterday, bar one accident, has 15 stickers on her chart and gained most of her nutrition from sweeties Grin. She looks SO SWEET in her knickers!!

reastie · 04/09/2011 09:19

Morning,

Was in a hurry last night so missed out on chatting about lots of things Blush

expat glad L likes eating chunky food. Alice seems to gag on anything that isn't completely smooth. She even gags sometimes when I di her puree too thick for her liking Shock Hmm . I'm a gag phobe so meal times are very difficult at the min Confused

Speaking of weaning, reading what everyone here gives their LOs makes me feel like a complete pfb nutter - she's only had fruit, veg, lentils, salmon, cheese, and baby rice (of the wholegrain organic variety) . She doesn't like the delicious carrot stick snacks but has had the ocassional ellas kitchen when out and I've given her a baby porridge I got a free sample of but got stressed about the fact it had dried (and so concentrated sugar filled) fruit powder in it Hmm . Sometimes I wonder if just a bit of potato waffle, beans and weetabix would make life easier. Might try toast at lunch but no idea what to put on it Confused (and to true form of my pfb status the bread will be home made in our bread maker Wink ).

wiggles I am going to order those eggs for christmas from amazon Grin

jane how was it?

delia I'm so glad you spoke to your doc and C seems to be OK and has the medicine. Can't help with the med afraid as I have no idea

choc hoestly - you must've spent an absolute fortune on wedding gifts for all these weddings you keep getting invited to. Have you had a different outfit for each?

Got info through for a local nursery here (considering all options re: going back to work) and it's £55 a day but you have to pay for all year round, and I only need term time, so seems a bit of a waste of money tbh Hmm

byron go K with the crawling Grin

Oh - AF definitely back for the first time here - which of course means it's due at the end of our holiday in a month so PMT throughout holiday Shock - think I might need to blag some of that prozac from ledkr Wink

janedoe25 · 04/09/2011 10:16

Envy (sick face by the way)

I had a fab time last night, too much wine and lots of dancing. First hangover I have had in over a year! Im going back to bed. Hope you all have a nice day.

Grannyapple · 04/09/2011 10:48

Morning ladies...well N has most definitely got the cold too, tho his has manifested itself more as a cough than the sneezing/snot. I've been dozing up on beechams capsules & thankfully dh has done the early wake ups & bedtimes..still feel pants tho...need to recuperate as much as poss today me thinks!

Yesterday was lovely...& I surprised myself by how much I didn't think about N...think it was because. Was o. A missio. With a list of tasks (shopping!) so made it easier...before. Knew it,it was time to come home.

reastie I'm dong the annabel karmel recipes too...& N Was the same re lumps but he is getting better...tried chicken yesterday & he only took half of it. I'm worried we're not giving him enough by only giving him one cube( then a yoghurt or such like), but once we've tried lentils today, think I'll up his portions to 2 cubes & see how we go. Regarding nurseries, my nursery does term times only...do you live in Orpington? It's an Asquith nursery we're going to but they have one in crofton I think...but is expensive! But cost might work out slightly cheaper than paying all year even tho higher daily rate, if worked out annually? Just a thought....

Jane stinking hangover...always sign of a good night in my eyes...my first night out in may/June with the nct girlies I was ill the next day...so much so that hubby asked them on fb iwhat they had done to me as he thought they had 'broken' me Grin...needless to say I was a but sick too...haven't been that bad since tho...learned my lesson re: hangovers & babies!

ledkr · 04/09/2011 10:58

OO you naughty thing Jane glad you had some Ledkr style fun tho.
reastie hands off my prozac,i have had a really bad pms month,i am starting sw tomorrow and have read that the fatter you are the worse pms is-another reason to diet i suppose.
Am in bed at the mo Dilly is with dh,i have af-not that bad but hey make the most of it i say.
Off to tidy some clothes away and then shop for diet.

WeAreBorg · 04/09/2011 11:26

Hi all,

really quick post, I have read yours but DH is tapping feet impatiently at the door so need to dash! Another one here with the cyber virus, Nate has had a temp of over 40 Shock the past 2 nights, but he seems okay today. He is predictably refusing to sleep but seems quite chirpy. He is not eating food at all but taking his milk.

somebody/anybody clever - Nate is playing with his ears, is that a normal thing for them to do at this stage, or might we have an ear infection?

Grannyapple · 04/09/2011 11:28

Might be teething Borg...is what N did when his last set was coming thru...docs call it 'referred pain' or something Confused

ILovePonyo · 04/09/2011 12:34

Hi all, jane I'm going to join you in feeling rough - think I was still drunk this morning when I got up! Am now eating crisps and drinking diet coke - best hangover cure I think. Had a really good night and saw some friends I've not seen for a while, just had a pint too many I think Grin

dd has been very cute and on good form this morning, must be having my mum here, shame she doesn't live nearer Hmm

grannyapple A will be going to an Asquith nursery too! It is lovely but like you say not cheap.

reastie I'm doing AK purees but gave A a petit filous and she loved it, thats bad isn't it, think they're full of sugar? Nowt wrong with being pfb nutter about food Wink as long as youre happy? Let me know how you get on with toast, we've not tried again since she gagged on it - don't want to put you off sorry! But think we will try toast again soon.

Hello everyone else, I have read but am in no state to reply to all Grin will be back later to hear more about janes night hopefully...

janedoe25 · 04/09/2011 13:21

ponyo I'm so jelous I NEED cheese and onion crisps and Irn Bru the ultimate curer for me.

was such a good night, however I came home with one shoe Confused. My friend lost both her shoes too. It was in a hotel full of girls probs about 400. In my drunken state I attempted to use the mens urinal, (the ladies were super busy) it didn't work out too well Blush.

reastie · 04/09/2011 13:33

ahhh jane glad you had a good time, you know it went well when you lost a shoe Wink . 400 women at this hotel? Please don't tell me there were ALL there for your hen do? I don't think I even know that many people Wink

ponyo hope your nursing the hangover well. We didn't try toast at lunch as dh put the bread maker on to make granary bread and I was worried alice would choke on the bits Confused . I made up steamed carrot and sweet potato chunks instead but the DH too busy doing paperwork to feed it to her and I chickened out Shock . She had a leek, sweet pot, carrot, cauliflower and cheese main (she hated) and apple and mango puree for pud (she loved) Hmm

borg hope N is better soon

This talk of asquith nursery - what on earth does asquith mean? The one I was looking at was something like 'missonari' (couldn't have done a terrible sp there). granny that one looks loads bettrer than the one i was looking at but it's the opposite direction of where i work Hmm . may look into it though as could be worth it if it's alot better

gtg alice screaming - we are both soooooo bored as dh still doing paperwork so stuck on baby duties alone...again on the week end Confused

Grannyapple · 04/09/2011 14:38

Jane has to be square cheese n onion crips & irrn bru for the hangover cure...or beef monster munch Grin

reastie Asquith is a chain of nurseries..they're supposed to be really good & we were really impressed with the Bromley one when we visited so signed up straight away. We also saw anoter (sunnyfields...think they also have one in Orpington ) but we felt it was no match for the other one. Is yours a montessori one? They're supposed to be really good...Gordon ramsay's wife isa trained Montessori teacher (useless fact of the day) Grin.

ponyo glad u had a good night...sounds like u have the hangover well under control!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 04/09/2011 16:35

Hello all,

Urgh, I have the plague.... well, tonsilitis really but feel terrible. OH has bought me loads of throat sweets but I can't eat them as they hurt too much, monster munch sounds good though granny Grin

SO much to catch up on,

jane, details please when you're up to it!
byron Envy at the weather but Grin at crawling!!!! brilliant, just buy the world's stock of bubble wrap and cover everything in sight....
deb well done Imy! Bet she feels all grown up now Smile
borg Really hope N is feeling better but B plays with his ears when teething (something to do with referred pain apparently), might be worth seeing the doc though as could be an ear infection, especially with his temp.
reastie sorry you're having such a tough time with weaning, B gagged on a rice cake yesterday and I had to erm, catch 'it' in his bib iyswim, I just couldn't face doing the same today so gave him sweetcorn rings. I hate knowing it's going to happen at some point.... I did Grin at your bath comment though, thankfully he hasn't repeated it since.

OH went to the shop earlier and came back with the biggest television known to man Hmm, it's now set up in the living room scaring me. I don't like it, i prefer my little 18" one

janedoe25 · 04/09/2011 16:53

Sorry you are ill needto. My DF is the same with tv's must be a man thing!

byron I misssed the post about K crawling, let the fun begin! Grin

Had my Irn bru and cheese and onions, they done the trick!

Emski76 · 04/09/2011 17:22

Jane, glad you had a good night. Pics please?! My hangover cure and staple food when pregnant was beef monster munch, yum!
Byron, no rest for you now K is crawling. It's amazing how quickly they change from helpless baby to moving, eating little people!
Deb, so proud of Imy! I loved seeing Ben in pants for the first time, he looked so grown up!
Borg, Noah has been playing with his ears too, and he has a second tooth coming through.
Need to and Jane, my dh came home a few months back with a Mahoosive tv, even Ben thought it was too big.
Noah pretty much eats everything I give him. I've been blending down our meals, pasta bake with tuna, spaghetti Bol, and he tends to it all. I make it quite lumpy too. Ben went through a very fussy stage around eight months so am waiting for Noah to go thru the same stage!
The boys have gone to in laws today so I slept for three hours, have made a lemon cake and have bread baking. Now watching Bruce Almighty, waiting for dh to bring Noah home.
Reastie, I may pm you for advice on making Ben an advent calendar for Xmas.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 04/09/2011 17:48

ooh, emski i made an advent calendar last christmas for OH, i bought a cheap one in the pound shop then emptied it and filled the moulds with nice choc (very mnetty Wink) and covered it then decorated. the only tricky bit was cutting the squares so tht they were in the right place iyswim. looked quite good [proud emoticon]

wigglesrock · 04/09/2011 19:25

Evening all,

cinderella jane glad last night went well and hope you are recovering Grin

ponyo maybe it was just a bad pint you had Grin

Anna is now refusing to eat anything without lumps, point blank spitting out any purees Shock Have had to resort to lasagne and she had creamed potatoes and carrot and parsnip for dinner, nice nappy btw [whiffffyyy!]

reastie Anna has had peanut butter, dairylea and various types of jam on her toast, debka - scrambled eggs a big hit, thanks x

Off to catch up and try and get organised for school tomorrow Shock

OP posts:
wigglesrock · 04/09/2011 19:29

PS WeAreBorg Anna at her ears too, she is also tilting and shaking her head, of course she could just be copying the dog Grin

chocoroo Is R's eye appt tomorrow? Hope all goes well x

OP posts:
WeAreBorg · 04/09/2011 19:36

Evening,

I'll attempt a proper post now! Thanks for the help re the temps and ears, I didn't think of teething. He seems better, no temps at all today, will try some food again tomorrow.

emski not helpful at all but you reminded me that we bought little rusty buckets for our advent calender last year, and filled them with over £30 worth of chocolate, greedy guts. I had to keep buying more chocolate though as kept eating them too early and didn't want DH to find out.

needto hope you feel better soon, sounds like lurgy is everywhere.

jane glad you had a good time, Grin at you using the mens'. I like the way you insisted on the urinal, there was probably a perfectly good loo there too!

reastie Nate hasn't been hugely impressed with the Annabel recipes either. I think I'm going to give them up completely and just give him our stuff. I feel I should get my money's worth though. I think baking your own bread is a good idea actually, shop bought has quite a bit of salt in I think.

ponyo hope your self inflicted illness is improving! It was always a fry up and cuppa for me.

tadjenny hope you are feeling better.

american sadly Nate is probably worse since the weaning, I don't know if I have tried too many different things and his tum hurts? He was constipated, and now he is poorly again so I think it will be never a while before I get some decent sleep. I also think he loves the boob a bit too much so I might have to think about stopping BF, but don't really want to yet. Until he has teeth!

Byron eek crawling, clever boy. I'm not sure Nate will at all, he doesn't like being on his tum, and apparently I also sat completely immobile on my arse until I was 10m then randomly got up and walked one day, I don't think DH crawled either. No idea if these things are hereditary though!

Granny hope your Nate is recovering from his cold too.

debka I'm humming the spy who loved me in my head right now

Well we went shopping for N today and now he has a load of 3-6 month clothes that I have managed to shrink in the dryer so don't fit, and lovely new 6-9 month clothes that are all enormous. Poor lad was wearing a vest that practically hung down to his waist today and some dungarees that came to his knees. In other news I have new carpets, how exciting is that folks, take that Jane and your fancy pants hen do, I know how to have a good time!

Emski76 · 04/09/2011 19:51

Borg, I thought about the little bucket idea, where did you buy them?
Think I may be in for a restless night. Noah was crying every few hours last night, couldn't find his Binky, hid room was hot and he had s stuffy nose. He'd come home from in laws with a stuffy nose this evening so have dosed him up ith Nurofen and used the snot sucker!
Noah is heading into 9-12 month clothes, what a fatty! He's been trying to crawl, dh is away this week and thinks Noah may start crawling while he's gone. I think it would be a bit sad if dh missed it!
Well, my bread does not look or taste very good. It came out soggy and flat, could have been me opening the little door several times to see what was happening! Dh said he'll make some with me next weekend. I would love to be good at baking cos I enjoy it so much! My lemon cake has turned out very thin but quite yummy. Looks like shit though!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 04/09/2011 19:56

Jane so sorry, I missed your post about your drunken stupor night out, lost shoe and bad weeing, sounds like you had a good one!

Borg you sound like me with your excitement over new carpets Wink b is at the stage where his clothes are either bit too snug or too big and it's very annoying.

Forgot to say earlier but b has started to say dada Hmm, no mama yet and I keep telling oh that it's not actually a word but babbling Envy

debka · 04/09/2011 20:47

ems 9-12mo clothes Shock. S has just grown into her 3-6mo clothes!

needto dada how cute! WTF are sweetcorn rings??? Confused Grin

My girl is done now, no accidents today AND we went out, I'm so proud!

ILovePonyo · 04/09/2011 20:51

emski Grin at 'looks like shit though' there really are some classic quotes on this thread sometimes :)

Needto dd said dada once - dp didn't hear her and was really pissed off Grin (I think it was babbling too though)

Got to make this quick so hi all and I'm feeling pretty good considering the amount I drank, (think jane put me to shame tho by the sounds of it), but still having a nice early night v v soon. Dp is back at work tomo, boo, I have got used to having him about and quite like it Grin Nighty night all
