morning, well, looks like both DH and I are both coming down with Alices cold (good move to postpone needto )

Envy of 4for and her legoland trip - so sweet how excited 4for towers is for the trip. I once went when I was a teen with my mum and sister and it was great fun although I was Sad I was too big to go on the little lego car track thing Wink

deb re: naps - alices has all changed in the past few weeks. V approx she currently wakes about 6 - 7, naps at about 8 - 9 for maybe half an hour. Usually in my bed and if I try to transfer her to her cot she just wakes up and that's it for the nap, so I try to leave her and do bits and pieces of cleaning upstairs. She then might nap again before lunch (maybe 11) for half an hour. Sometimes she'll nap after lunch or early/mid afternoon for maybe half an hour and she usually has a little nap before tea (about 4 or so). Hope tht makes sense - usually about 4 mini half hour naps. But given she will only sleep in car seat/pram/on me those naps won't mean I can ever get anything done Confused [frustrated]

I think Alice is getting really close to crawling - she moves all over her mat now and is sort of getting close to crawling in her body/leg movements, just not quite there, now I've said that she'll prob not crawl for another 6 months! Grin

xposted how old is your new baby mindee?

btw those using nurseries - how do you find your local ones/now if they are any good? is there a website they are all on i don't know about?

janedoe25 · 31/08/2011 07:55

Hi reastie he will be 8 months.

Are you in the Kent area? If so here is a link for you for childcare searches.

Morning :)

deb dd's naps have gone a bit odd the past few days, before she was regularly doing 4 half and hour naps every day, now she's down to 3 and the times have gone a bit to pot! She usually has a nap about 9-930, then 1.30ish and 4ish. Angry at your dh on your behalf, how irritating.

ledkr shouting for Jamie Grin I missed Shameless, though thought the last series had gone a bit downhill?

Borg what job do you do? Take N along in a sling, I'm sure no one will notice Wink

Four4 enjoy legoland, how cute about 'thank you mummy', aww!

40 boo to weight gain, I am trying to eat heathily but its boooring Grin Good luck at spin (you're brave)

reastie I think dd is v close to crawling too, she gets in the right position but buries her head in the floor too Hmm She's rolling everywhere though which is annoying as we have wood floors, so she just rolls off her mat onto the hard floor and eventually bumps her head Confused

Hi jane yay to the other baby mindee, you're going to busy Grin

dd woke up screaming this morning b'cos she was hungry, hmm better try and get more milk and food in her today then Hmm

wigglesrock · 31/08/2011 09:25

jane Just as well you posted I was going to start bombarding you with Grease lyrics in preparation for the weekend - No I haven't forgotten Grin

WeAreBorg I do a Saturday and one night a week and they are always the hardest shifts to get covered.

Four4me have a great time, am so jealous, when the girls are watching Nick Jnr Blush, they always see the ads for all the theme parks etc and have me tortured with why can't we go? Sad I can't actually think of a theme park here, we have some seaside amusements etc but thats about it, apparently we have natural beauty to enjoy [snort]

debka Anna has about 2-3 naps a day between 45 - 90 mins, she is asleep now but in her carseat, so not sure how long that will last.

40Weeks Olivia is grand, but I had to wake her this morning which is unheard of. She has her first day at nursery tomorrow, she's only in for a couple of hours for the first 2 weeks - she's vv excited, its the lure of different toys not actually going to nursery that has her excited. Her best friend form playgroup is in her class so she's looking forward to that. Couldn't pay me to teach in that particular class Grin

Sofia back to school today, threw her off in the car park "No Mummy, I don't want you to walk me to the playground", cue eye rolls Sad She's in until 3pm and then her gymnastics starts again this afternoon - looking forward to that with O and A in tow as well Hmm

Good morning!

Haven't posted for a couple of days so just been catching up.

ledkr Am laughing at both your use of ancient pile cream and yelling for Jamie Oliver. Reminds me of a time we tried to vote while drunk a couple of years ago, our friend had forgotten to register but didn't realise til we got to the polling station. He had a massive hussy fit and phoned the council in the middle of the polling station and when they answered he said "Yes, I'd like to speak to Gordon Brown please" at the top of his voice and would not take no for an answer.

wiggles Hope Olivia is feeling lots better. I bet you're glad to have them back at school - enough museum trips this hol for anyone?!

granny Def put the weaning regression down to teeth. I thin it can really put them off food.

ponyo and Borg I feel your nursery pain. I'm only going back full time because nursery costs the same for 4 days as it does for 5 and I justxant justify having a day off just for me. Nursery is costing just over £200 a week! reastie We got our nursery through friends recommendation. I think the local Children's centres have lists too.

4for Have amazing fun at Legoland. I think DP is already desperate to take R. She was gobsmacked at the zoo - I was amazed how much she noticed.

40 Have fun at spin. I managed a run last night and am geared up to shred tomorrow....have Buggy Fit starting again too tomorrow so no doubt I'll be a size 8 by this time next week.

Jane Congrats on the new mindee. You'll have a houseful!

deb We don't talk about naps here. R has two a day now (used to be three), about 30-45m in the morning around 10:45 and 90m-2nd in the afternoon around 2pm. BUT....she will not sleep in her cot except at night (when she sleeps really well). Most of her naps are on me which is a bit restrictive and I can tell my mum is not impressed!

Right. Better go hang the washing out. Glam or what?!

ledkr · 31/08/2011 10:12

wiggles dont remind me,im dreading Ellas stuff starting up.At the mo only have Monday free, need to try and change her Thurs dancing so she can do it all on a wed.I started letting her run in last term whist i stood by the car/Dilly to watch her as she has to pass the pub where all the down and outs drink Grin

ponyo Dilly has slept the last 3 nights since i introduced "supper" i basically give her her tea (rice) before her bath and its doen the trick.Tis the old fashioned way,i remember ds1 having a half a rusk at bedtime at about 2 months Shock

deb Dilly has a very short nap in the morning-today 5 mins grrrrrr and then another short one after lunch and often a longish one at about 3.30,if that one is very long i just make bedtime later.

jane shame you dont live near me,i need cc soon.

ledkr · 31/08/2011 10:21

chocco that is soo the sort of thing we would do. We once took the ds's to butlins and the chalet was vile so me and my mate went to drunkenly complain, listing all the genuine complaints we then went onto tell the girl that we had found a fly in the bedroom "with a tiny human head" ala "the fly" we also used to go and see ds1 after the clubs as he worked in Mcd's and ask for "two sumptuous breasts" oh and when he was a butcher we'd ask for a wing of pork or a leg of fish!!! Immature me? Id have to be drunk to vote i think haha.

wiggles I remember running around the carpark chasing ds1 who refused to go in to school cos i had cut his hair-badly Grin

Deliaskis · 31/08/2011 10:22

Morning all,

Well Claudia has turned into a big ball of snot overnight. She woke herself up sneezing at 9.30pm and then realised she was literally buried in snot, so had a bit of a coughing fit so I went in to her to try and help. There's not a lot you can do tho! She absolutely hates anyone trying to get within a country mile of her nose, so the snot sucking device got waved around vaguely near her head but didn't make it to her actual nose. That seemed to be upsetting her more than the actual snot itself, so DH just sat and cuddled her for a bit and she dropped off again, slept till 5.45 then soke up snotty and sneezy again, poor mite.

Funny tho cos she is sneezing loads, but she has always giggled when sneezing, and before the big coughing fit, we kept hearing her on the monitor sneeze, then giggle to herself, which had us in fits.

It's her first proper cold, she had a bit of a sniffle at 8 weeks but nothing major. Me and DH were big pathetic softies tho, wailling 'I don't want our baby to feel poorly'...she was mostly fine, we were unbelieveable.

She's also got a bit of a runny bum at the moment, don't know why, it's been going on since Monday so can't really be one individual food that disagreed with her as it would have gone by now. Still has an appetite tho so mostly just ignoring and bulk ordering nappies. It's not enough to worry about dehydration, just a bit messy.

She's doing better at finger food now, she's sucked on a bit of pear and is having a really good attempt at the bits of toast I give her whilst I'm having breakfast. Don't know how anyone does BLW tho, she would actually eat virtually zero if just finger food.

Sorry this is a bit me me me, off to read and catch up now...

Dx

Deliaskis · 31/08/2011 10:23

...And cue nobody will post now until about 10pm...

wigglesrock · 31/08/2011 10:30

Morning deliaskis Grin Mine always have runny bums when they're feeling ill at all. I have always sworn by Karvol, a few drops on a hanky near their cot and it helps them sleep and clears them up a bit. Have a nice day at work.

OP posts:
reastie · 31/08/2011 10:42

delia I'm posting Grin mucho sympathies re: cold as we had alice up EVERY 45 mins the other night for the WHOLE night Shock . Alice is the same re: anything near her nose, well, she was fine with me wiping her nose until MIL came over and wiped her nose several times with the force of a truck in her technique [pfb] Shock cue upset every time she did it, a red nose and me biting my quivering lip Confused . Now she won't let anyone go near her nose so we hover the nose blow thing near her nose but tbh the amount of extra snot made by the tears of upset I feel counteracts the usefulness of it atm.

ponyo btw chq posted today Grin

I've got avocado and asparagus for Alice to have in the next few days. She's gone off her food too and I thought if gourmet works for DIlly it might work for Alice Wink

Well, remember I was asked to do supply for a teacher who was having an operation? I declined but I've now been approached to do the same job by a temping agency Grin . It's nice to feel wanted/in demand. I'm still turning it down though Grin Hmm . Just can't work the timetable with bfing/CBT/upcoming NHS fat fighters/childcare.

jane thanks for the link

Grin to the drunken complaining/voting

ohh - a couple of baby related questions as I'm useless at knowing this stuff:
1 - when do we take out the head hugger in the car seats? (or should I have done this already)
2 - Is there a reason why I can't get a more substancial mattress for our travel cot? I read one company doesn't recommend using another matress other than the one supplied with their travel cot but I'm not sure if that's just as they want the business for people buying their matresses. I want to get a thicker more decent travel cot mattress as the one with it is useless and really uncomfy for day time naps not that she ever naps in it anymore

Deliaskis · 31/08/2011 10:57

That's interesting wiggles re runny bum related to any kind of illness not just tummy bug. Would completely fit in with contact with 3yr old cousin who was a bundle of snot at the weekend.

reastie we already removed the head hugger on the car seat, although our otherwise slight and slender little girl does have v chubby cheeks so her head kind of looks and feels 'big enough' to not have it in IYSWIM. My Dad kindly remarked that her cheeks are the widest part of her lol.

Re travel cost mattress I have no idea, but can't really see the problem with getting a better one?

Dx

reastie · 31/08/2011 11:19

ohh d please put a piccie of of the chubby cheeked claudster so I can coo Grin FWIW I've heard los get runny poos when they have colds etc

chocoroo · 31/08/2011 11:20

reastie I bought a proper mattress for our travel cot from Toys R Us. Although it was sold alongside the cot it didn't quite fit but I just rolled a towel up at one end. And we've got rid of the head rt of the car seat too, although R has a mahooosive head - there's no wonder she refused to come out the normal exit!

Delia Boo to cold. I have a Calpol menthol vaporiser thing that's worked really well when R has been snotty but wiggles method is probably just as good.

ledkr Suspect there could be serious damage done if you and I ever met over wine!

wigglesrock · 31/08/2011 11:22

Deliaskis I would always get a dodgy tummy before I get a bad cold, my tummy is always badly affected no matter what the illness.

reastie We got rid of the head hugger a long time ago, A looked like she was an astronaut strapped in for take off, it was marking her ears Blush her head is in ratio to her height so it was one of the first things to go when we felt it was safe. Re the travel cot mattress - as long as the new mattress dimensions are the same you'll be fine.

OP posts:
Deliaskis · 31/08/2011 11:56

LOL wiggles re headhugger looking like astronaut, DH used to tell C he was going to strap her in like a fighter pilot, then when she was would announce 'Claudiator, ready'. He is a bit of a loon actually.

I don't know how to post photos because I am technothick I have them on my phone but can't get it to send via internet, and can't figure out how to get them onto my 'puter. Normally I text them to my blackberry and then email them from there to myself then upload, but my blackberry is goosed at the moment. Any wise words to help a poor fickie?

Dx

janedoe25 · 31/08/2011 12:36

delia I am a fellow computer fickie!

Grin at astronaut Anna and the Clauidiator!

I'm enjoying my days of nothingness before the babies descend next month! I hope I can cope with them both, L will be just turned one and O will 8 months. I am now on the look out for a cheap double buggy.
DF is taking me out for dinner tonight as he is away on his stag on thursday!

reastie · 31/08/2011 12:38

ok, so the alicetronaught has now had her head hugger removed Blush

d can't help afraid I'm useless with all things mobile phone related - I must be the one person around who never even turns their mobile on unless I need to phone someone - I'm pay as you go and maybe put £20 a year on it Hmm

Just got an email re: the supply job - that's 3 times from 3 different people I've been asked to do it Grin .

reastie · 31/08/2011 12:41

jane xposted by you again - may I suggest nm for cheapish second hand stuff like buggies? In my area lots of people post ads in the nearly new section with their old baby stuff, it's how we got our fabulous feeding glider chair, oh, and freecycle also sometimes has some gems, you can post saying you want a double buggy and then who knows Wink

janedoe25 · 31/08/2011 13:02

reastie I have been checking them all out and gumtree. God you are in demand with work - they must be really struggling Wink

Deliaskis · 31/08/2011 13:38

If anyone is really bored and wants to be even more bored, go and read my post re friend dilemma in chat. It's long, but you might have some words of wisdom for me re my tragic pal...

D

reastie · 31/08/2011 14:59

hahahaha I've just had ANOTHER email from another temp agency asking about that job I keep turning down Grin Grin

Deliaskis · 31/08/2011 15:30

lol reastie they must reeeeeeally want you! And you get to remain aloof!

ledkr · 31/08/2011 19:01

wiggles you are loving your net mums arent you eh? Can i suggest it will back fire on you one day when you think you are on mn and swear or admit to dropping Anna on her head Grin remember your persona.
