debka · 31/08/2011 19:31

Thanks for all the feedback on sleeps in the day. I think I can summarise- babies are weird! Can't believe they have such different patterns! S has settled into a 7am-1pm-5pm bfing schedule so I may try to manage her naps round that

You know how they say Grandparents spoil their gkids? OMG you should try great-gps!! Took the girls up to see them today, they're a very sprightly early 80s. Imy had TWO tubes of Smarties, books, special food and undivided attention the entire day!

jane glad to see you back, lit a candle for our Zoe today.

Still got the head-hugger in our car seat but S is so titchy it looks like she'll be in it till she's 2 as it is!

reastie you do absolutely right not to take the work if you don't really want/need to. I did some teaching (mornings for about 3 weeks) when Imy was 3 months and I hated every minute. Had to express milk in the toilets, twas grim.

ILovePonyo · 31/08/2011 19:43

deb 'babies are weird' is my quote of the thread and has been for some time Grin Ahh bet I had a fab time being spoiled all day.

reastie has the sling arrived yet? You are in demand re: work, time to tell them you will work for much more money I think Wink

delia I love 'Claudiator, ready' - really made me chuckle, its the sort of thing my daft dp would do too.

Hi to everyone else, I have read but cannot reply to all, you have all been v talkative today!

dd had some Annabel K chicken mush today for tea, ate some of it, then I gave her a mushed up rusk for 'pudding' (is that bad?!) well she bloody loved it and ate the lot Shock Think my girl may be taking after me in terms of food rather than her dad (I am a MacD's fan and like most junk, dp is much pickier more select). Had a big bottle before bed too so I'm hoping she'll be ok in the morning.
Am loving how big her tummy gets after eating loads, v funny Grin

debka · 31/08/2011 20:02

ponyo S's tummy was so big after tea tonight (scrambled egg and cheese, a whole weetabix then some yoghurt) that when Imy tried to give her a toy in the bath it kept rolling off the incredible round tummy-mountain!!

wigglesrock · 31/08/2011 20:15

debka yay - you're doing scrambled egg, have been dying to give A some egg, but didn't fancy hardboiling one.

ponyo I never used rusks with S & O, but A loves them, I give the illusion of healthiness by mashing it up with fromage frais or sticking chunks in her fruit Grin

ledkr I'll have you know I'm a very well respected member of NM, MN oh feck where am I Grin

delia Mr W calls all the girls silly names - Olivia was Wivinator for a while Hmm I think they just love sticking "inator" at the end of a name, makes them feels like they have something to do with the Terminator Grin

Well Sofia went back to school, no big dramas, she's a real drama queen at home, but really licky arse studious at school. Went to gymnastics and we weren't all back until 5.30pm which is late for all of their dinner/bath etc runs so we'll see how everyone gets on tonight. Olivia starts tomorrow, still secretly sobbing about it, me not her Grin

OP posts:
debka · 31/08/2011 20:23

She LOVES egg wiggles, just don't cook it too long like I did yesterday you can do it in the microwave too.

Back to school boy I can't wait till Imy goes little madam. She screamed for 20 minutes for no apparent reason this afternoon.

ILovePonyo · 31/08/2011 20:32

Tummy mountain Grin Shock at Imy screaming for no reason - what did you do?! Just ignore?

wiggles I just mixed the rusk with water, neglectful mummy :) Hope O gets on ok tomorrow (and hope you don't get too blubby at the school gates Wink)

jane meant to say hope you and df have a lovely dinner tonight :)

debka · 31/08/2011 20:36

I ignored then stuck her in her room cos it was v v v loud, thought she might calm down. She didn't. DH went in and got her, put on cbeebies and she calmed down eventually. It took about 30mins before she was normal again, this after 20 mins full on screaming AAAAA AAAAA AAAAA like that.

Normally she is a little charmer but she was v tired after an Exciting Day and too much chocolate!

ILovePonyo · 31/08/2011 20:40

Another Shock from me, 20 mins is a long time! I have a feeling cbeebies is going to be a bit of a lifesaver for me soon too :)

wigglesrock · 31/08/2011 20:55

debka is there a way to do scrambled eggs apart from the microwave Shock Grin Eggs are Mr W speciality, he can do them for her lunch tomorrow - am strangely excited Shock Poor you re Imy, I'm a big ignorer re the girls, they're not huge screamers - more the silent defiant types.

Ponyo CBeebies is worth the license fee alone!

Jane double buggies were the bane of my life, even typing the word brings me out in a sweat. I had one with S&O and had to buy the cheapest one and it had to be behind each other, the side by side ones wouldn't fit in our house. I hated the awkward bastard and it hated me too, nothing spured me on to learning to drive more than that hateful buggy. See what it did to me, rant over. No doubt you will pick much better than me Grin Looking forward to the hen night?

OP posts:
ILovePonyo · 31/08/2011 21:04

Ha wiggles you just reminded me that I was trying to get the pram (without dd in) up the few steps into our house today and completely stacked it - fell over with a clatter bringing dp running out of the house to see what was happening Grin Quite embarrassing and I hope none of my neighbours were looking out of their windows...

delia I looked for your thread in chat but couldn't see it and can't click on your profile to see the threads your on?

reastie · 31/08/2011 21:25

beverly callard dvd shredathon starting tomorrow Confused - so to all those doing it - how on earth do you keep los entertained at the same time? I have no idea what I will do with alice and she moans after a few mins on anything Hmm . The only reassurance I have is I was dancing Blush around the kitchen earlier with her in her high chair and every time I did a twirl she giggled Hmm Grin

i'm a moaning mavis this evening after catching alices cold. Just wanted to get that out there Grin

ponyo it arrived today Grin Grin . Fabbo thanks. I watched a you tube video on how to use it and went against their advice to practice with a doll and straight into getting alice in it Hmm - it seems she didn't much like my fumbling trying to get her legs to do the splits Shock . Must try harder next time. deb re: your moby - when you do the baby facing out position does bean sort of lurch her shoulders forwards perilously? What am I doing wrong?

deb I don't think I knew (or if I did I forgot) you were a teacher - what do you teach?

ponyo re: work - I'll have to ring them up and say 'one million dollars' in an austin powers esque way Wink

'inator' must be some kind of hard manly nn dads are permitted to do Hmm

wiggles good luck for olivia tomorrow

Well, re: weaning I'm still only doing one new food a day and using cooled boiled water in her beaker not cold water from the tap Confused bet I'm the only one pfb

delia i couldn't find it either

janedoe25 · 31/08/2011 21:28

wiggles Good luck with Olivia's first day at school, hope you are ok. I already have a huge double, side by side 3 wheeler. I need an umberella fold to fit in the car when all the seats are up (i have a zafira and there is no boot space when all seats are being used.)

I am actually quite looking forward to the hen night, the grease part will only be an hour thank god!

debka Shock at Imy's tantrum, too much smarties? Hope she is ok now.
Thank you for thinking of Zoe.x

ponyo dinner was yum! Did you enjoy your trip?

Four4me · 31/08/2011 21:29

wiggles so glad that S was ok at school and hope O (and you!) will be fine tomorrow. While packing up to go tomorrow we were sorting some DVDs for the journey and T was so pleased to find his Wiggles Big Red Car DVD! Great!

Delia when any of my dc's have cold I wet face cloths and put drops of Olbas oil on it then hang them on the cots/beds (out of reach of babies). Stops the snot drying up and making breathing even harder. Also use warm wet cotton wool pads to wipe their noses (only her babies) it stops it being quite so traumatising. Hope C gets better soon.

Yesterday I though it was sweet when T repeatedly thanked me for us going to Legoland. Well I'm over it now! He has driven me potty. I think he is anxious about going away, as he doesn't really understand what we are going to do despite us trying to explain. He has followed me around while I have been getting organised. "what are you doing Mummy?" "i'm packing Thomas for LL" " oh ok Mummy, thank you mummy, I'll help?" "no thank you T, you go and watch tv with Joe Joe" "oh ok mummy". .......off he trots........back he comes......"what are you doing Mummy?" Over and over again.............

Hope you all have a good next few days, 'see' you on Sunday.........

janedoe25 · 31/08/2011 21:31

reastie hope you feel better soon.

reastie · 31/08/2011 21:37

thanks jane and glad you had a good meal. Btw - what's the difference bet a childminder and nursery?

wigglesrock · 31/08/2011 21:58

Four4me Have a fantastic time, "chug a chug a big red car - we're gonna drive the whole night through" Grin

Night all, school night here tonight Grin

Dh givimg ebery excuse under the sun but they have an answer to everything,i can not see i will get thru my life without telling them straight, why are they so sodding desperate to come here? Ella is staying at my sisters on Friday if pils turn up i will literally go balistic.

hubbard86 · 31/08/2011 22:53

hiya ladies, been a manic few days as the littleuns christening is nxt weekend and i'm trying to get as much prep food wise done as possible. I still have 60 cupcakes to make and 2 big cakes. I have family traveling up from essex and down from leeds and i want to be able to spend as much time with them as possible. Have found the family christening gown out for freya, it's the same one i wore and both tom and freya are being christened by the same vicar that did me 25years ago.
As well as sorting out the christening we seem to have got a kitten. She turned up in our garden last night, very under fed and only 12weeks old. We found out from the paper shop that a lady a few streets away dumped 6 kittens and 1 found it's way to us. I think it's fate as we were just starting to think about getting a cat after everything that happened with the dog. She's a little bit poorly, she caught a cold and has fleas so she's on antib's, eyedrops and flea tabs. But she's a delight, earlier she got a little close to freya at which point freya has grabbed her ear and is trying to eat it, the poor cat didn't even flinch.
I give freya whatever i give tom now. I hardly ever mash or puree. She gets a fair amount in and hardly any goes on the floor, possibly because she shoves so much in her gob. She's on 3 meals a day with no sign of stopping.

Is it normal for a 6month old to still not be rolling? She shows no interest whatsoever. She sits up for max 20mins. Then just wants to lie down.

WeAreBorg · 31/08/2011 23:47

oh many posts, I read the first lot earlier this evening and now can't remember anything
hubbard wow 20mins is loads isn't it? Do the other babies sit for this long? Nate doesn't. Sounds as though Freya is really strong, I don't think rolling is particularly important developmentally, HVs will be bothered by when they sit and walk, but not when they roll and crawl as not all babies do those things. I think. I'm scared of your flea ridden kitten though. Hope Tom is okay, it's nice to hear from you.
ledkr I am happy to ring your PILs and sort them out.
44me that sounds really sweet to me but I can appreciate it may be annoying after several days....
wiggs good luck for school
reastie I couldn't entertain Nate and hence have not managed to complete the shred ever. For some reason he found me clipping my toe nails today (sorry gross) endlessly amusing. He also laughs hysterically when I wipe his boy bits with a wet wipe, but there is a limit to how much I can do that without it being weird. And obviously I couldn't shred at the same time.
deb i am in the UK, I just like to maintain an air of the exotique from time to time.

Sounds as though DH is finally back from work so off I go

debka · 01/09/2011 06:26

Morning all

Up far too early here, DH is snoring like a pig.

reastie I'm a pretend teacher- TEFL! Re Moby, I find if I don't tie it tight enough then she does the shoulder lurch thing. Are you putting her arms/shoulders under the wrap too? When I do it really well you can only really see her hands, everything else is covered by fabric. Also, try and make sure the fabric is spread out as much as pos over your back, this will be most supportive for you. Good luck...

Hi hubbard your kitten sounds cute! We adopted 2 strays then abandoned them in Slovenia S hasn't rolled either- she will try and reach for things and occasionally have an accident and roll by mistake but she's happiest sitting up.

I'm offloading Imy on my aunt this morning and a friend is coming to visit with her 6mo, can't wait. Then we're going to a birthday party for one of Imy's friends this afternoon, v exciting!

byronicheroine · 01/09/2011 07:40

Hello all- I'm back!
Well, got back to Greece last week but then we went straight on holiday as we had the opportunity to stay with friends. Also, we all needed a break!
Being in the uk was fantastic, and although it rained a bit (we were near the floods in Bournemouth!) I loved it! You should appreciate how easy you have it- I was in supermarket heaven! Here they all have poles to stop you nicking trolleys so it's either my 20 lb plus baby in a sling and what I can carry or..... Starve? Actually, I can get in the Lidl with the buggy, Lidl has saved my life :)
because I had such a great time, i've been pretty down since I got back (DP has bourne the brunt of it) and then I remebered you lot. You got me throught pregnancy and birth, sure you can cope with a bit of homesickness and wishing supermarkets had those lovely baby seats in them :)
far too many posts - practically a whole thread!- but hope you are all well
K is eating bits and pieces - DP tried feta while my back was turned resulting in projectile vomiting and me snarling - and trying desperately to crawl with no success. Tooth count - 0

ILovePonyo · 01/09/2011 07:40

Morning all, hi hubbard nice to hear from you - kitten sounds very cute :) Our cats are really good with dd too even when she grabs a big handful of their fur (poor cats). I still shut them downstairs at night though. Good luck with the baking! Oh and dd is rolling all over the place but shows no sign of sitting up on her own, agree that 20 mins is ages Shock

jane ha-de-haha Grin Boo to Grease only being for an hour! Have fun.

moaningmavis reastie glad the sling arrived, I have no clue re: using it as I gave up at the sheer mount of fabric Grin

Four4 hope you have a lovely time :)

ledkr I really am amazed at your pil - they are so rude and clueless. Don't really know what to suggest as you seem to have done/tried everything? Bloody weirdos.

I don't think I'll be doing shred either as dd is another one who needs constant entertaining atm Hmm She has a bit of a cough going on but doesn't seem like its bothering her?

Anyway hope everyone has a good day, venturing into town today. God shes just done loads of coughing and about 10 sneezes in a row Hmm

ILovePonyo · 01/09/2011 07:43

Hi byronic homesickness sucks so you have lots of sympathy from me. Glad you had a nice hols though and I will join you in the tooth count - also 0 :)

janedoe25 · 01/09/2011 08:04

Hi byron sorry you are feeling so down, we are here when you need someone to talk to.

reastie childminding is more of a home from home approach to childcare. The kids have more 1 to 1 time and activities are more child led rather that structured. Although childminders don't suit everyone as when i am sick I can't work. (never had a sick day in 3 years though)

hubbard your kitten sounds very cute, poor wee mite. Hope the christening prep is going well.

debka enjoy your day.

ledkr God your pils sound bloody relentless!

debka · 01/09/2011 09:45

byron I understand totally, I've lived in lots of different countries and the going back bit after a break is the absolute pits. Once you adjust a bit it's ok again but it is the worst feeling in the world.

Tooth count- big ol' zero here too!
