Well hello people! Just book marking...can't believe we're on another thread! Hope the heids aren't too thumpy today Smile

Not much to report here...had a mass pureeing session yesterday...what's the betting Nate doesn't like any of it?! Hmm

Off for pub lunch with a friend & her 2 yr old,but we're both driving (boo!). Off to a christening tomorrow for the twins from our nct group...think dh might be driving Grin they go overboard with their food & drinks orders so it is my duty of course to help them make sure it doesn't all go to waste Grin

Hope everyone has a fab w/e & that the wee ones chancing it & playing up are much much better today!

ledkr · 06/08/2011 10:40

Hi granny,i did loads of pureeing last weekend but i think i shouldnt have mixed it as gave her a belly ache.I am finding the jars a bit easier atm cos she doesnt eat huge quantities so not too expensive.

WeAreBorg · 06/08/2011 11:21

Blush sorry ledkr didn't mean to ignore you

Quick post to say N is poorly, he was up all night with a temp of 39 despite calpol++ and stripping off, wouldn't sleep and I just sat up with him all night. Every time he lay flat he couldn't breathe, and just looked shocking, cried most of the night no matter what I did. Hadn't fed much all day, dry nappies, puking what feeds he managed.

Just been to docs and as usual he did that thing where as soon as they get near a doctors they magically look completely well and I look like a liar! He did agree croup though, and I have a prescription for some steroid so hoping he has a better night tonight. Might not get chance to post again so hope the hangovers are wearing off!

ledkr · 06/08/2011 11:33

Oh no Borg,i hope hes ok,what aworry,i was only thinking the other day how lucky we have been re illness on this thread. Let usw know how he is.

janedoe25 · 06/08/2011 11:48

Oh borg hope little Nate is better soon. It must have been horrible for you last night.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 06/08/2011 11:49

borg sending lots of get well soon vibes your way. it's so frightening when they're this little and can't tell you what's wrong so sounds like you did the right thing. if it makes you feel any better I took B to the docs 2 weeks ago with a cold, inmy defence he had a rash on his face from his temp but I still felt very Blush when we got there and B just started giggling at him.

Looks like I missed a good night last night in here, I hope you're all recovering today. I'm in bed with stomach cramps and nausea but got to get up and get dressed do some housework but feel so knackered. Think it's from the doc checking my coil yesterday fingers crossed oh and Pirate Day in sunny Hastings. There were thousands of people dressed up, we got the world record for number of pirates last year but were then beaten by Penzance. Have added a pic of B dressed up. He's so chilled out with crowds and noise and slept through the main event, wish I could be like that.

Okay, so when will these babies learn how to roll back onto their backs and go back to sleep instead of screaming every 5 minutes through the night? ledkr i sort of did cc through default in the end by ignoring B and he did go back to sleep, just on his tummy. Not sure I can do that again though, it's horrible isn't it?

Well, hope you all have lovely Saturdays. My shred dvd has arrived and I'm scared.... Wink

ledkr · 06/08/2011 12:36

I had about 2 annoying nights of Dilly crying and her being on her tummy with her massive bald head in the air.I flipped her back a few times but it was only a day or 2 before she stopped bothering. She is funny now she sleeps mainly on her side like me.She stil naps in pram but think those days are soon over,i just went to check on her and she was up on one arm peering over the side of the pram and grinning.
Do you remember me having to call an ambulance for Dilly when she choked? She was still causing concern whne they came but by the time she went into the ambulance she was grinning at everyone from her position on an adult stretcher. I have great pics on my phone but cant seem to get them off onto pc.
Great pirate pics btw,i love bandanas on babies so cute.

ledkr · 06/08/2011 12:38

btw im sticking with the cc or last 2 nights were a waste,to be fair tho she wasnt upset just moany and stopped instantly she heard me approching her cot Grin

Deliaskis · 06/08/2011 12:57

Ledkr C is a bugger for that, wailing, then stopping as she hears us approaching (I think it's the creaky top stair, she knows she's got our attention!).

Borg sorry N is poorly, sending lots of get well soon vibes your way!

Question for more experienced weaners: C has been doing great with so far mainly jars of purees - veg, fruit, plus baby rice & porridge, plus I have mashed some real banana and mixed with a bit of milk. So I steamed some leftover veg I had (carrot and swede, so it tastes a lot like the jar purees she has had) and then mashed it with the spud masher (didn't blend). She just won't have it, she spits it out, and today I gave her mostly her usual puree, then put just a tiny bit of my slightly coarser mash into the puree, and she would take a mouthful, and kind of seive it in her mouth, swallow the puree and spit out the (very tiny) lumps of my mash-up. I thought it was mashed enough but obviously it is tiny lumps. Is it just too early for this? The lumps are really tiny, it's probably like cous cous sized lumps but it's much mushier. Do I lay off this for ages, or a few days, or keep trying, or what? Don't want to give her things she either doesn't want or isn't ready for, but not sure whether she just needs to get used to it?

Also re night/early waking. C normally wakes once between about 6ish, wails a bit, I run in a give her a dummy and that's it then until close to 7ish. I know this isn't a big deal, I don't really mind doing it (and I know I'm very lucky that it's this easy!), but on the whole, do you think I should keep doing it indefinitely, or leave her to wail for a couple of nights and see what happens. It's not really causing my any problems to do the dummy run, I usually need to get up for the loo anyway, but not sure whether it's good for her to rely on me to get back to sleep so to speak. If she wakes at other times she settles herself.

Apart from that, all well in the skis household, apart from DH working Saturday AGAIN Angry.

Deliaskis · 06/08/2011 12:58

Ooops, forgot to sign off with...have a lovely day ladies and enjoy the weekend.

Dx

Deliaskis · 06/08/2011 12:59

Sheesh what is up with me? That should say...normally wakes once between 4 and 6ish

ledkr · 06/08/2011 13:51

I seriously wouldnt rock the boat really, she will soon be old enough to find her own dummy,if they have adummy then thats the price you pay really

Deliaskis · 06/08/2011 17:13

Yeah you're right I'll carry on. As I say, I normally have to get up around then for the loo anyway so it's no biggy. She's funny with her dummy as she doesn't need it to get to sleep at night, and only sometimes for daytime naps, but when she wakes it just settles her straight away.

Glad to hear (I think!) that D is the same re lumps. I'm obviously just pushing her a bit. Funny she is just now eating banana with bits in and that's fine, I thought the vegi surprise wasn't a lot lumpier, but she can obviously tell the difference! It is quite impressive though, to see her moving it all around her mouth then these two tiny bits of swede come out, I suppose it must be for her a bit like when we get a bone in fish of something.

I can blend/seive etc. I just thought the mush would be good enough, but obviously too soon.

Dx

Deliaskis · 06/08/2011 17:14

Also she's not had any finger foods yet, I've not been brave enough, but that will be starting this week, now I have a high chair! She has had some banana from the net thing which was a bit gross but not sure what to do next. I've not given her bread yet or chicken or cheese or anything so I guess I will try a bit of cucumber or something.

D

knittakid · 06/08/2011 18:30

hello all, can't believe there are already 40 msgs in the new thread!
debka I'm sorry you've been having such tiring (and trying) time, hope dh gets his act together.

Wine ladies, hope you enjoyed your eve and babies woke up late and in a good mood.

needto hope you feel better by now, I had a migraine one morning and seriuosly thought that I would not survive and both me an ds would die (as he's not taking the bottle, ob he would if he had to).

I decided not to take the med. ledkr it's paroxetine, my gp said to read the side effects in the leaflet and i did and don't want to take it, also there are threads in here warning against that drug, so have to go back and ask for another one.

needto my stepmotherinlaw was last year at that hastings pirate fest!

ds is teething fulltime and doesn't know what to do with himself, he's also becoming a tazmanian devil, and he's not even fully mobile yet! he wants to grab absolutely everything and is prepared to jump from your arms if necessary; he's very close to crawling, he goes backwards and today actually lurched forward to reach a book (paper being thirs in fav things to eat after milkand bath water...)

reastie ikwym about being eaten alive in a thread, last month i asked about leaving ds with dh, which is never successfull, and you'd think i had asked how to find a sex slave for dh...

we're off camping next week, wishing everyone a restfull, quiet blisfull wkend and week. xxxx

knittakid · 06/08/2011 18:35

also meant to say to borg that how awfull, hope it goes away quickly!

debka · 06/08/2011 19:55

borg how horrid with croup, I've always been scared of that one, hope he gets better really soon. I've been lucky with mine and they've rarely been ill. S has had one (mild) cold, and Imy's only had 3 or 4, plus one tummy bug. No antibiotics or fevers ever. Don't know what I'd do!

delia don't be scared of finger foods, they get used to it pretty quick and although C might gag a bit it won't bother her. I'd start with a crust of bread or perhaps grated cheese or even a chip- something easy to get hold of and suck/gum. I'd keep going with offering her the mashed food, although I know it's a PITA when they refuse something and you have to do something different. S is mainly eating mashed fruit or fruit mixed with some mashed veg (she won't eat veg on it's own, yesterday she had parsnip and mango!), weetabix mixed with milk and juice, yoghurt, and finger foods from our plates.

knitta I'd probably have made the same decision about anti-d's, but I really hope the dr can give you something compatible. You'd think that in this day and age there'd be one about. S is the same with the Tazmanian Devil thing, it's cute! Well done for Pablo starting crawling!!

Well, I have been psyching myself up all day and we are doing full on CC here tonight. Imy is asleep at Grannys, S is in Imy's room (it's further from ours), and I'm feeling very nervous. Actually I feel like I'm taking control of the situation which up until now has been out of my control, so it's a positive kind of nervous. Plan is when she wakes at 9ish to go in after 5 mins and settle her, then after 10, then 20, then 30. Really hope it doesn't take that long though. I'll repeat every time she wakes until after 2ish when I'll feed her, then repeat till morning. I know it sounds harsh but I cannot go on rocking a growing baby to sleep for over an hour every night. She ought to get it in 2 or 3 days, then we will all be happier. Please wish us luck :)

BTW needto when Imy did the turning over thing I put rolled up towels on either side of her to stop her rolling. As far as I remember it worked, but she quickly became a tummy sleeper anyway.

Emski76 · 06/08/2011 20:07

Debka, wishing you so much luck for cc tonight, and the next few nights. I'm sure it will work. It might upset you but believe in what your doing and be confident.
Knittakid, hope you can get different anti ds from the doctors. I'm on citalopram, the first few weeks on them I felt worse, it was awful but now I can't imagine feeling so low ever again. I lowered my dose from 30 to 20 mg a few weeks ago and felt anxious again for about a week, now I feel ok again. I hope you get all the help you deserve as a fabulous mummy! Well done to Pablo for almost crawling, and yikes to the teething!
Delia, Noah gags on finger foods and sometimes sucks the sauce of the veg r fruit and sends the lumps back out of his mouth! It does change. Ben was like it for a while but soon get used to it.
Borg, poor you and Nate. I hope he gets well soon.

debka · 06/08/2011 20:28

Thanks ems. I do feel confident now, hope it holds at 3am!

wigglesrock · 06/08/2011 20:32

WeAreBorg poor Nate and poorer you, its always harder on the parents when a baby is ill, you feel so helpless xx

knittakid Anna is also a bit of a jumper and grabber, she almost toppled a chair today Blush, bloody walker, you think someone would have told me you have to actually watch them in it Grin Enjoy the camping, hope you get the weather x

deliaskis A usually eats anything and everything, decided to try and give weetabix a try, well what a mess, she sucked what she wanted off the spoon and peppered the rest of us with the lumps she didn't want Blush, she's usually fine with a couple of lumps and would have finger food like toast, bits of fruit, cucumber, Rich Tea biscuits Grin, she also loves a bit of dairylea on toast, breadsticks.

debka good luck for tonight, you can do it xx

tadjennyp Anna was assessed at 23 weeks, she was 17lbs 10 and 68cms, sounds roughly the same as Sammy.

We ran around most of today getting the girls uniforms bits and pieces, just to get Sofias shoes, she has a very broad foot so her shoes have to come from a proper shoe shop not Asda like the rest of her uniform Grin,

Anna not a fan of the Organix snacks Shock but she loves the Heinz biscotti, think she's getting a bit above herself Grin Mr W is off to work, hope everyones Saturday night is loads more exciting than mine!!

debka i hope S sleeps well, good luck with the cc!

knitta well done pablo with the nearly crawling! Hope his teeth are not too sore. I hope you are ok and find medication that suits you.

I had a productive wee day today, we managed to write our wedding vows and emailed them to the civil celebrant. It's getting closer to the big day eek!
I have packed DF off to the pub for the night, so im watching some harry potter and the half blood prince.

wigglesrock · 06/08/2011 21:08

janedoe well done, well are they all soppy and lovey dovey? Grin

wiggles sickeningly soppy! Grin

40Weeks · 06/08/2011 21:20

I found you all at last!!!

Well hello

Hope you are all ok. Borg how are you all in your household? Poor you, it's awful when they are so poorly. Hope he gets better with the steroids. Owen often had them and it's amazing how quickly they work.

knitta good for you with the meds, you shouldn't take anything you aren't happy with. The only reason I am not on meds is because of bfing too. Let me know if you find anything!

M is doing well, having baby rice but that's all. He is 23 weeks today, had a smidge of pear, oh and the obligatory ice cream cone of course. He too loves the organix snacks but it's a double edged sword as he sobs when they are finished. Really breaks his heart.

needto We went to Hastings today! Boys had a great time and of course had to shovel in some fish and chips! Ok, and ice cream and donuts. Grin

Just watching a film called Green Zone - it's good but not my cup o' tea.

Sorry there has been too much chat to catch up with everyone but can I just say, I am flipping the bird to this so called MN Royalty - who the fuck do they think they are? This is such a nice thread but I tend not to stray far from it since I saw a thread about what other names people call their 'boot room' and I could have vomited with the snobbery and shallowness of it all. Twatishness at it most twatty.

Yep you've guessed it, I too have a brown leather sofa and two of my babies were born on it so not getting rid and so I will always fall foul and glad of it!

Feel all 'braveheart' now after my rant, sorry, blame it on the wine. I do not have any union jack cushions but I do have a tea towel! They can take our sofas and cushions, but they can never take our freedom. Am going to buy some some fruit shoots in defiance. I will of course empty the contents down the loo and replace with evian but no one will know but me (and now you lot)

wigglesrock · 06/08/2011 21:22

jane Yes, , hope you kept us a copy to cry over peruse Grin How long to go now - in hours, minutes and seconds please Grin

reastie just catching up on threads I was on, yes afraid to say was watching music channels last night, looking at JLS and thinking, I wouldn't kick 3 of them out of bed for eating toast, obviously not the three together if you know what I mean Grin
