reastie - good luck for your grandad's funeral tomorrow. Everyone else has given you such good advice about everything else that I won't bother to add my two cents.

MizK - Sad that's awful and a completely normal reaction from you. So lucky he wasn't badly injured!

wiggles - you? polite? is that sarcasm? Grin

jane - have fun at the hen night. Is it sad I've never been on one? My friends are not the hen night type!

irishqueen - if you're lurking, I'm going to send you a PM about a coffee this week. Standby!

The Netmums were absolutely lovely. They were all quite young though (except the woman with 8 children Shock), I've never felt so elderly at 30. Grin

wigglesrock · 24/08/2011 22:20

americanexpat [looks around to see who's watching] I've been on NetMums a few times this week, mostly on local boards but generally having a nosy, I feel old too and I'm older than you Grin

reastie incase I miss you tomorrow - hope all goes well xx Oh while I was on NetMums local there was an ad for a cooking class for 2years +, think its a franchise type thing - thought of you. She's holding the classes in her home.

Are you going as Rizzo or Frenchie, Jane!

Sorry about Joe Mizk, I would be beside myself too.

Hope you feel better and less anxious soon, reastie, will be thinking of you tomorrow. The same for you milkmachine.

Glad the girls had fun with their granny wiggles!

I may have to up S's food as I am still feeding him 7-8 times a day! Shock

Hope bedtimes are going well for everyone and the babies are still asleep.

MizK · 24/08/2011 22:47

Thanks for all the kind words all - they will be home early hours Fri so will get to cry over him then, which he'll be mortified by! Am spending tomorrow baking - cheesecake for joe and treacle tart for Christy, indulgent but I'm so dying to spoil them, haven't been apart for this long before.
jane v interested about hen night in fact - wait for it - tell me more, tell me more! (ignores sound of tumbleweed bouncing gently past)
wiggles have a funny picture of you gazing wistfully at all the hens getting up to no good whilst you dutifully sit with Aunty Joan and chat about her ailments....!
expat eek, old at 30!Inspired by you, I looked at Netmums and posted a little notice on the meet a mum board - am now slightly anxious that either no one or a complete weirdo will want to be my friend! Glad you had a good time, think their meetups are a really nice idea.
reastie best of luck for tomorrow, thinking of you x
ponyo am really annoyed at your HV. It's obvious that you are genuinely getting a bit concerned about A's weaning - the HV should know it can be a stressful time for parents and babies. The thought of your baby somehow going without all the food/milk they need is something that bothers most of us who have feeding/weaning issues so you don't need to hear pat answers!FWIW I'm positive A will get the hang of this food lark - whilst on hol Cass completely regressed to milk, wouldn't go near solids (apart from ice cream and crepes) so I know it's a horrid feeling. No expert so all I can suggest is bombard the little blighter with every tempting thing you can think of, and dont worry about spoon feeding for now. Cass's new fave is a really ripe nectarine - I bite it so the flesh is exposed, then help her hold it up to her mouth and she attacks it like a vampire! If she won't take proteins yet for iron, the follow on milk should more or less cover her needs shouldnt it? Sorry to go on, I just drank a diet coke and the caffeine is making me ramble!

wigglesrock · 24/08/2011 23:11

MizK glad you'll see them soon, I got your Grease inspired joke btw Grin Yes and Auntie Joan had an operation "down there" which I have been privy to the details of Shock Right regressing to Les Dawson impressions, so time for bed!

Sleep well everyone and have a lovely day/afternoon tad

Sorry, loads of x-posts, display didn't refresh for some reason. Loving the grease jokes! Grin And I can just see wiggles heaving her bosom over the garden fence. Wink Grin I so wish I was 30 again expat! Not long till I enter the last year of my 30s now! Night all.

janedoe25 · 25/08/2011 07:30

reastie I want to let you know I'm thinking about you today, I hope the funeral goes as well as can be expected. I'm sure you will do your Grandad proud. xx

janedoe25 · 25/08/2011 07:31

Shock at the Grease jokes. Grin

reastie · 25/08/2011 07:58

expat and wiggles it's funny you say you are the older ones in mums groups as I was talking to a friend the other day and we were commenting that the groups we go to we are (at 29) some of the youngest people in the class Hmm

Thanks for all the well wishes for the funeral (if that's the right term). It's this afternoon. I hope I'll feel a little better when it's over and I'm soooooo hoping Alice doesn't do massively loud squelchy sounding raspberries (which is her current speciality) in the really quiet emotional bits in the service Confused

mizk love all your baking ready for them to come home - bet you can't wait Grin

All the secondary teachers on the thread - just interested how your students did in GCSEs given we left them us on maternity leave. I've sent an email to school asking if I can have my students' results, I'm so hoping they all did well [fingers crossed]

cler · 25/08/2011 10:39

Hello everyone. how are all your babas doing. coreys doing great although he could do with gaining weight abit quicker. Hes 16lb at 33 weeks. He is very tall and lancky. For those who are on facebook whats your full names? Theres a great group on facebook for babies born in jan/feb.

chocoroo · 25/08/2011 10:48

Morning!

You'll all be pleased to hear I no longer smell of wine...

reastie I hope today goes well, you never know, a big raspberry from A may be just the thing!

Am laughing at those of you Net Mumming. I always had the impression they were a "younger" crowd. Most people I know had their first between 29 and 32, so I have a few friends on their 2nd but most are just getting started. It's interesting though as I think a lot of deciding to have a baby is peer pressure - you naturally want to be doing the same things as your friends at the same time.

Have fun being a pink lady Jane. I an totally flabbergasted at those of you who have never been on a hen do! I can't even remember how many I have been on but I have visited Majorca twice, Paris, Manchester twice, Brighton, and Birmingham loads of times. Dread to think how much it's cost but I do really enjoy the weekend thing as you get to spend a decent amount of time with friends. Think I'm a bit of a mumsnet oddity on that one though!

MizK please, no more talk of nice stuff. I've started a new diet today as have put a few pounds back on after the last attempt. Are we still doing the sponsored Shred by the way? I went for a little run last night so might alternate and do one day Shred and one day run. I have 10 weeks til I'm bcd at work and need to be looking good!

Right, to everyone else but bed to go as R has backwards crawled into another corner of the room, fortunately she's only chewing the bumbo this time, and nothing electrical!

wigglesrock · 25/08/2011 14:21

reastie think of you this afternoon xx

chocoroo you big lush Grin I'm shredding in Sept, my spare tyre is back Angry We have had a load of crap in the cupboards over the summer with the girls being around more so hopefully that will be knocked on the head next week!

I took the girls out the park/lough earlier, its bucketed, bucketed and bucketed again, somehow the girls are holding me responsible Shock

OP posts:
ILovePonyo · 25/08/2011 15:04

reastie thinking of you too, sending you a big hug xx

choco pleased for you that you don't smell of wine anymore Grin Thats a lot of hen do's you've been on, you jetsetter!

cler nice to hear from you, Grin at C being tall and lanky bless, I have a facebook but not on it loads, spend too much time on mn I think!

MizK thanks for sympathy re: health visitor, and aww at C regressing to milk when you were on hols, sweet! Hope the baking is going well today, not long now til you get your other 2 babies home :) Wink

We have been back to the nursery today so dp could have a look, he agreed its really nice (so it bloody should be for the price) but it feels a bit scary that my baby will be going there soon! I got something in my eye (contact lens wearer) and it started streaming whilst we looking around, I think the nursery worker thought I was blubbing about dd being away from me Hmm Grin

Think we are heading to sealife tomo, I should have got my bum in gear and asked you for those 241's choco b'cos can't find any online, boo. Its not cheap is it, dd better not sleep/cry the whole way round!

ILovePonyo · 25/08/2011 15:12

Aha, have found a 50% off voucher, yay

Four4me · 25/08/2011 15:18

Quick post! Hiya everyone, not read through but just wanted to say I am thinking of you today reastie .

Also mizk totally know how you want your big babies home. Not long now.

Gotta go the tribe are hanging out of trees Grin !

Deliaskis · 25/08/2011 15:34

Hi ladies,

Ponyo lol at honestly not blubbing about leaving DD in the hands of nursery when surely they won't be nearly as nice as Mummy (you see I can be off-hand about it now, I have a daughter in nursery myself yeewwww knoowww).

Also thinking of reastie today.

C still not getting finger food, she licks bread sometimes and pulls a funny face at it. She's also been a bit less keen on her solids after Monday and I think it's cos they fed her waaayyy too much at nursery so will tell them tomorrow they need to tone it down a bit.

Work is going good, and when I pick up Claudia in the evening I can't stop cuddling her, which is nice, as I seemed to spend a lot of time when I was on mat leave trying to find ways of putting her down! I think going back to work has been good for me, well so far, it's only day 4, there's time yet for the wheels to fall off the wagon.

Example tho, DH called earlier to say he will have to stay at work late today and tomorrow, and I didn't think 'oh nooooo, I am exhausted and I need you to take her off my hands at 6 or I will go into meltdown', I thought, hmmm Mummy daughter time, splash in the bath, cuddles and bottle, nice!

Choc I have been on loads of hen weekends too, which have been really nice, although I think I might feel a bit 'past it' now (lol am only 33!). I do have a weekend reunion with my uni girls every year tho, that's fab.

chocoroo · 25/08/2011 16:07

Delia I think that's what I like about the hen dos -weekends away with my uni girls! Also, it's really good to hear how well you're settling into work and nursery, I've been looking forward to it since I had R, just feel like I'll be a better mummy for her when I'm at work.

ponyo Think you've found a 50% voucher for sea life but if not, just pop to Bullring on your way and park up for an hour - it'll cost you about £2 but the tickets have vouchers on the back. You've reminded me that I want to take R but even at 2-4-1 I think we're too skintight. Car tax and service this month :-(

wiggles I have at least one spare tyre now. I just have this vision of going back to work looking all thin and glam. Will probably have porridge on my shoulders!

It's looked like rain ALL day here so have done bugger all. Am now kicking myself as it's not actually rained. Didn't even dare to put my washing out :-(

Deliaskis · 25/08/2011 16:23

Have a bit of a weaning question:

C started off really well - baby rice, then porridge, then veg and fruit purees, and all had been going really well.

The thing that is bothering me a bit now is that she really hasn't taken to anything else yet. Anything I have given her with chicken in she is less than enthusiastic about - doesn't outright object, but doesn't seem to really want it (and no big open wide mouth like when it's just veg/fruit etc.). Haven't been able to get any other meat into her yet. Nursery said she had sausage casserole on Monday and she ate loads, but as it wasn't me giving it [control freak icon] I'm not sure how 'happy' she was with it?

She also won't have any 'bits' in her food yet, spits out the tiniest lump of anything in homemade puree (like a tiny bit of swede that wasn't totally puree).

She's also made no progress on finger food, so no point doing BLW at the moment, she doesn't eat anything at all that way.

I know these seem like complete non-problems, and to some extent they are, I'm just a bit worried that she went great guns at the start, but it's now getting a bit more difficult and I want to make sure I don't do anything now to screw up her food/eating associations etc.

Any thoughts?

Dx

chocoroo · 25/08/2011 17:17

Delia I'm going to say don't worry, but only because Romilly is exactly the same. The only finger foods she likes are soft fruit and Organix things but otherwise it's very smooth purees only, and pretty much all of them don't have texture.

I did manage to get some chicken and rice (organix jar) into her today so I'm really chuffed - she opened her mouth and everything. I did warm that though and I rarely warm any of her food because i'm lazy so will try that again with something a bit more textured.

Am way too wussy for BLW too, especially while she's refusing textured stuff.

debka · 25/08/2011 19:21

delia I'd say just keep offering it, it takes them a while to get used to different tastes/textures I think. S had just been having mashed fruit and cereal until last night when I thought I'd try her with our food. And try not to worry! S wouldn't have anything to do with finger food either until today when she scarfed down a slice of bread!

reastie hoping it all went well today and you coped with everything. I imagine you'll feel sad but relieved it's over now.

jane O those summer nights.... Grin

DH seems to think S has molars Hmm will check tomorrow. I bet you my last Biscuit he's wrong!

wigglesrock · 25/08/2011 19:56

deliaskis I wouldn't worry either, it took A donkeys to get the hang of weetabix, she's good with other lumps though. I also use mini breadsticks and dip it in purees, peanut butter, soft cheese and let her suck them to get the hang of feeding herself.

ponyo how did the banana porridge work out?

OP posts:
janedoe25 · 25/08/2011 20:38

reastie I hope you are ok x

NeedToSleepZZZ · 25/08/2011 21:07

Evening everyone,

Really hope reastie is okay.

Jane I'm Grin at your grease hen do! Do you have a similar theme for your one? Wink

ponyo hope you enjoy the sea life centre, I'm now the proud owner of a years pass to our blue reef aquarium as imagining the rainy days ahead with not a lot to do. B really enjoyed it when we went.

choc and delia, can't believe the amount of hen nights/ weekends you've been on! I've only been on 2. my idea of a night out is cinema then home for a cup of tea Blush

Not much happening here, we're all doing well and Ben is becoming a bit of a monster with his food, still only having breakfast and dinner though. God, I'm even boring myself now so will say goodnight and hope our babies let us sleep.

ILovePonyo · 25/08/2011 21:17

delia I have to say I have found it v reassuring reading about yours and C's experience of nursery so far, I was telling dp about you having nice mummy baby time, I can imagine feeling similar to how you have described.

As for weaning I am certainly no expert and can only agree with what others have said - give it time and persevere. Because (thanks for asking wiggles Wink) gave dd some banana porridge this morning, she wasn;t opening her mouth but then seemed to 'get' it and ate a bit. Dp did her some mushed up carrot and fish this evening and she ate loads of it! Shock :) Well, loads for her, plus lots of looking around at the cats getting distracted and eating her bib too. Feel really pleased and relieved, I never was a stress head til I had dd you know Wink Grin

deb ooh molars! Can't wait to hear your verdict Grin

choco boo to car tax etc, they are so expensive aren't they, will let you know how we get on so you'll know if its worth forking out for! Am hoping its not too busy...

wiggles good idea with the mini breadsticks (as always :))

No word from reastie yet, hope she is ok (and won' think we're hounding her)

ILovePonyo · 25/08/2011 21:22

needto I am jealous of your pass to the blue reef aquarium, I'll be honest the sealife visit is just as much for me as dd, I love anything under water-y!

Just had a nosy at your photos btw, cute! And you are very lovely looking lady too.
