Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
reastie · 24/08/2011 18:21

yes needto - I remember thinking it was near you which is why I mentioned it Grin

reastie · 24/08/2011 18:24

ohh, forgot to say [proud] alice just had her first proper non puree piece of food - sliced peach from the garden Grin . She had a whole slice Grin but I was so scared of her gagging I had to hide behind the door while dh took charge Confused Blush [scaredy cat] . FWIW she did gag Shock

debka · 24/08/2011 19:54

milkmachine is that you knitta? Relationships are tough aren't they. My DH has been sulking for most of the afternoon, I don't mind though, gets me some peace and quiet Grin FWIW we haven't dtd yet either, he shows no interest in it whatsoever. I don't mind ATM but it would be nice occasionally...

reastie well done Alice on her peach! They really don't mind gagging IME. Feeling proud here too as Bean had her first Proper Dinner- tuna, egg and cheese pasta with sweetcorn, just mashed up what we had and after a slow start it all disappeared!

mizk if it were me I'd be on a plane to go and rescue my baby! Glad he is ok though, and he'll have a story to tell when he's back.

janedoe25 · 24/08/2011 20:04

milkmachine I hope things are ok between you and DP?

reastie sorry but I LOL at you hiding behind the door! Yay to Alice for her first bit of proper food. Grin

hi debka, how is Imy's cold? Well done Sabine with dinner. It seems you all have little hungry horace's fro children! Grin

ILovePonyo · 24/08/2011 20:06

Hello peeps,

MizK hope you are feeling a bit better now, your poor son I can understand you feeling so upset, must be horrible thinking of him being in pain. When is he back? Hope its soon xx

milkmachine Grin at your random phone and pleased counselling is going well. I think if you (general you not you personally!) are stressed or something similar its easiest to take it out on those close to you, I know I do it with dp. Also its v easy to notice the little annoying things they do which become more and more annoying. Anyway feel free to moan about him on here, I've found it helps Grin

Yikes to the short notice for work reastie - good for you saying no, good choice I think. Ho are you and dh now? Well done A having some peach - yum!

I am here to moan about health visitors - spoke to one today about my concerns re: weaning and how dd will taste stuff but not swallow anything and won't eat from a spoon now (she used to) - she said its prob teething so give her teething powder and bonjela before food. That is what she suggested when I said dd screamed during her bottles and it didn't help at all Hmm Also yuck to having bonjela then food.
I think 'teething' is just their stock response to everything, it wouldn't bother me too much but she made a big deal out of dds iron levels going down and how we need to give her fish/chicken, plus if dd's weight drops again I know they'll be all concerned like before.
Also dp seems too ready to agree with them, its like he doesn't question what they say b'cos they are the professional. We tried teething powder today with some food btw and she tasted a bit then cried Hmm

Sorry for rant Blush hello everyone else :)

janedoe25 · 24/08/2011 20:09

fro? Obviously I meant for! Grin

janedoe25 · 24/08/2011 20:14

ponyo rant away, I'm sorry I have no advice re: the health visitor or weaning.

ILovePonyo · 24/08/2011 20:18

Thanks jane - it does make me feel better having a big old rant (as we all know! Grin) How are you - I missed how long your df is away for, is he away on the 28th?

wigglesrock · 24/08/2011 20:20

ILovePonyo usually I don't mind HVs but I've been given a bit of duff one this time. We've been mucked about with Annas weight a few times. At her 6 week check, I was told she hadn't gained as much as they thought she should have, this is while I was saying cheerio, I was like "Oh should we be doing something", and was just met with a blank stare - why bloody mention it then. Was the same at her 14-16 week check which she had at 23 weeks Hmm, initially when she was weighed it was "Oh she's big isn't she?", then after she checked her length and head it was "oh she's quite light for her height" Hmm. I can't remember did you switch to a follow on formula, there's extra iron in most stage 2s.

reastie yay for peachy Alice, I gave A something at my mums and she gagged slightly, my dad was half way out the door ringing 999 Grin

MizK how are you doing this evening?

OP posts:
janedoe25 · 24/08/2011 20:25

ponyo he is in Sheffield working until Friday and he is away on his stag night weekend from the 1st sept until 5th sept. Envy much moi?

ILovePonyo · 24/08/2011 20:39

Oh yes the stag do - you need to sort something nice for yourself then! Will be thinking of you on 28th.

wigs ah yes the hv blank stare bloody morons She is on follow on formula and the hv didn't even ask if she was on formula, the previous visit we were told not to put her onto next stage milk b'cos she'll be getting all her iron from food (despite telling that hv dd wasn't eating). They are so annoying!

janedoe25 · 24/08/2011 21:14

Thanks ponyo. I have my friends hen night on the saturday night he is away. Is it bad that I am dreading it? I fecking hate Grease and all things tributey, i have to bloody dress up as a pink lady! I know for a fact that Zoe will be laughing at her crazy Mummy. Grin

wigglesrock · 24/08/2011 21:17

jane you're right Zoe will probably be wetting herself, will you be having a pink jacket? ahh so much fun to be had Grin

OP posts:
janedoe25 · 24/08/2011 21:19

yes I bought a pink bloody jacket from ebay.

wigglesrock · 24/08/2011 21:29

Oh please emblazon your name on it in little diamonds Grin and take photos!! I'm just jealous, I haven't been to that many hen nights, and the ones I did go on were before people started to go away somewhere nice etc Envy I'm the one that always get stuck with the country aunt/friend etc - I'm terribly polite in real life Grin

OP posts:
janedoe25 · 24/08/2011 21:35

wiggles polite, my arse Grin! I have also been informed we have some tacky lovely sashes and cowboy hats to wear (not sure where they fit in with the Grease theme though Confused)

reastie · 24/08/2011 21:41

jane just don't forget the neckerchief and ponytail to complete the look Wink and I just know you'll end out singing 'summer nights' drunkenly at the top of your voice Wink

ponyo how frustrating re: hv. Mine haven't been that great on specific advice and what they do say is the basic really obvious stuff that I knew already (if a hv tells me to pat alice in her cot to settle her one more time as if i haven't tried it already I will not be held responsible for my actions Grin ) Hmm

just caught alice trying to chew on my laptop cable Shock she's so funny - at the minute I'll giggle to her and she'll giggle back, which makes me giggle some more which makes her giggle etc etc - this can go on for quite some time Grin

ILovePonyo · 24/08/2011 21:43

Hahaha

And you had to buy a pink jacket too?! Grin

I'd hate that kind of thing too jane, I have never been on a hen night actually and would dread it if I had to get all cowboy-hatted up. Are you planning on drinking, know you said you weren't drinking atm. Zoe will deffo be having a little baby chuckle at you in your outfit, funny mummy Grin (photos please) Wink

wigglesrock · 24/08/2011 21:43

[shudder] I got chills .... Grin please photos, I am commiting the date to my amazing memory bank and will torture you. I'm in good form, because A has been non wakey since bedtime, not a peep out of her Shock. The other eejits on the other hand, have been slightly taking the piss, but even they were asleep by 9. I also got them both to try on their uniforms today [wipes tear away], they were bloody gorgeous.

Now I have to start waving my clothing pen about and writing names in everything, Sofia got a new lunch bag and it has that lovely plasticy smell, I'm a closet new plastic toy sniffer Blush

OP posts:
ILovePonyo · 24/08/2011 21:45

Ooh reastie dd was doing the same thing, lying on the floor and I'd look at her and laugh, she'd laugh back, and so on - I loved it!

Sorry but I did smile at the hv being 'helpful' - have you not tried just putting her in her cot then? Wink

janedoe25 · 24/08/2011 21:50

I can ensure you all, there will be NO photographic evidence! Oh and ponyo I will be drinking and Lots of it, I need to numb the pain of the horrors somehow!

wiggles I'm glad the "eejits" are sleeping. I bet they were so cute in their uniforms.

reastie careful Alice will end up with hair like Jedward chewing on those cables!

ILovePonyo · 24/08/2011 22:00

jane I would do the same, drink lots then you'll be doing Grease kareoke before you know it haha Grin Pleeease photos, come on we won't mock you...

wiggles I also love the use of the term 'eejits', funny. I love the smell of new plasticky pencil cases, lovely :)

ILovePonyo · 24/08/2011 22:05

for reastie hope his works, I think this is the colour...

ILovePonyo · 24/08/2011 22:08

Boo reastie that didn't work, on the link click on Evergreen then on Forest, that is the colour :)

reastie · 24/08/2011 22:14

thing is ponyo hv has given me this same advice on 3 separate occasions Hmm Wink forest evergree looks good to me Grin

photos defo jane (OK, so you might not take any but I'll live in excitement that they will sneak on fb Grin ) but also photos wiggles please of the girls in their uniforms

wiggles the term eejits aways reminds me of the fabulous father ted Grin
