Packing is a fecking nightmare! I've never been camping before so it feels like I'm packing for every scenario - rain, wind, snow, hail, tropical sunshine Wink

DD1 is very excited but I know that she'll moan if she's cold so I've packed her loads of vests and things so that she can layer up if it's a bit chilly but strip down if it's warm

We're going with some friends and their children (who DD1 loves) so hopefully will be a laugh

WanderingSheep · 23/08/2011 21:45

I totally agree 44me! The baby is a doddle compared to my four year old, lovely as she is - and you have FOUR [faints] Grin

Yes, I had packed some stuff and then caught her playing in the clothes that I had packed, using the socks as sleeping bags for her Wonderpets figures!

ILovePonyo · 23/08/2011 21:45

Ooh wandering the only bit of advice I have (which you've pretty much done) is lots of layers - my friend went camping recently and the amount of layers plus gro bag her lo had on at night was huge.

wigglesrock · 23/08/2011 21:59

WanderingSheep I've always just used normal weetabix, I know the salt levels can be higher but I'm pretty safe in the other stuff she eats and she would have it every other day or so. When do you head off?

Four4me 16 mths - 2 years [shudder], I always found them the toughest months, all of mine have had a peg fetish too, I blame my mother Grin, she's always toddling out the back with them to hang washing out and looking after the pegs has always been their job and she also sticks them in the washing basket when they're playing upstairs with her. The first thing mine were ever able to do was to pick a tie to match a shirt, yes my Mum picks out my dads clothes for work Blush. Mr W has three ties - a black one for funerals, a darkish one for work when needed and a "good one" for weddings. We are a source of embarrasment to my mother - I think she hopes she can intervene early with the girls Grin

ponyo I'm always on MN more the nights Mr W works Grin

reastie · 23/08/2011 22:12

just off to bed but quick thanks for the kind thoughts

wiggles my dh can beat that - he has one tie and shirt - both pink that he wore for our wedding. He has had to borrow a shirt/tie from his dad who is a completely different size for funeral on thurs Confused .

wandering I will hope week end weather is good for your trip

ponyo thanks for asking re: feeds - I found that v interesting as I have the same questions as you. Alice doesn't eat much at each feed - I'd say equivalent of 1/4 ellas pouch max and she has puree at lunch and tea. We are going to attempt finger food for the first time at the week end - I need dh with me for moral support . Today she had parsnip, apple, cauliflower and pea for lunch and butternut squash and carrot for tea Grin - I just mix together random mixtures of home made frozen purees and hope they work but I only do max 1 new food a day Wink

ILovePonyo · 23/08/2011 22:21

M dp only has one shirt and tie too Grin Hmm

reastie what finger foods are you going to try? have found organix wotsits thingys (as recommended by most of our thread Wink) are much better going than toast for example. Have pm'd you btw.

Right finally getting myself to bed, dream feed first...

hubbard86 · 24/08/2011 00:10

hi ladies. Thanks again for all the messages. Toms fine now. His face is quite scarred but they are fading quite quickly. As soon as anyone even looks at him he points to his cheek and says dog bite. I think he's sick of people asking. Fil update, he wasn't at the wedding. The bride barred him as he was sending dirty messages to her little sister. Whose under 20 and he's 55, she went mad (understandably). Dirty perv. He has told his daughter that he hates me and my children are nothing to do with him. His loss not theirs.

Reastie when my dad died i went through a weird numb faze where i couldn't seem to do anything properly. Didn't want to either. Cbt went out the window. Talk to dh about what YOU need from him. Make bread sounds silly but kneading the bread can help you vent some frustration. Friday will hopefully find you some peace.

Freya is still having 5 6oz bottles a day. As well as 3meals. We have stopped puree's as she adores finger food. Tonight she had chicken, oven chips and baked beans and even with no teeth she wolfed it down. I haven't given her anything that she hasn't liked she's an eating machine. I don't know where she puts it.

I think 14months to 22months are the worst time. But 2.4 to 3 are pretty bad too

janedoe25 · 24/08/2011 07:35

hubbard im glad toms face is getting better, If you are worried about scarring boots sell some sort of healing plaster to minimise scars. It does work my df used them after his car accident (he went through the windscreen and his forehead was badly cut up).
My god your fil sounds like a lovely person! You are right, he is the one losing out with the kids.

reastie hope today is better for you.

DF is working away this week, he is in Sheffield and im on my lonesome. He has his stag next weekend, thurs - mon. His friends are paying for him to go to Magaluf for the weekend lucky sod! I have to make do with a night in Edinburgh Grin.

chocoroo · 24/08/2011 09:27

Wowzers, you lot were busy last night. I was mainly drunk....five bottles of wine between 4 of us. Hence, a last morning here...I've had cheese for breakfast and have plonked R in front of CBeebies. Bad mummy.

I haven't mentioned the Party Rings to DP. Need to hide the other packet from myself though or I'll only eat them! Oh and wiggles I also have to eat them in a certain order. I also have to sort Smarties and eat in a Very Particular Order.

ponyo I'm not sure what to do about R's breakfast either. I've started offering food before milk at lunch and tea but haven't done breakfast so far. May try what Emski suggested and give a little milk then porridge etc etc.

4For I bet your DC's love having a similar age buddy. There's no way I could face pregnancy again at the mo!

wandering Congrats on the tooth. R does a funny crawl too, but gets annoyed when she doesn't get somewhere quickly enough. Enjoy camping! But yes, take a ton of layers for the eve.

Hubbard Good news about Tom. Kids are just so bouncy, it's amazing.

Right, better go. Baby Sensory day and I have a sneaky suspicion I smell of wine...

NeedToSleepZZZ · 24/08/2011 11:32

hubbard glad to hear that Tom's scars are already fading, is he okay emotionally? Sounds as if he's taking things in his stride with the comments to other people. Oh and, huge [anger] at your fil, he sounds just charming... Hmm

wandering good luck with the packing! Bit Envy that you're going camping, I love it but haven't been for years. Have lots of fun Smile

reastie another OH that has only 1 shirt and tie and they are awful, I'm choosing his suit for the wedding or he'll turn up as spiderman or something. I was thinking about you yesterday as B wouldn't nap and I was getting stressed then wondered how you were feeling after coping with this for so long. I have everything crossed for you that A soon learns how to roll back and self settle.

Went to a home safety thing yesterday for new mums to get my free stairgate and it was so patronising. B insisted on standing (supported!) the whole time and cried every time I tried to sit him with the rest of the babies Blush He's still on 4x 7oz bottles plus 1x 8oz before bed but he rarely finishes the 10am and 4pm ones now (after food).
No hot water here today as the boiler's bust and waiting for the plumber, the one sunny day this week and we're stuck indoors, might be reaching for cbeebies later if all else fails, it's scary how transfixed a 6 month old can become Wink

DId anyone watch 'The Hour'? Thought it was great, especially last night's episode.

wigglesrock · 24/08/2011 12:29

hubbard glad Tom is doing well. Re fil, what a nasty man - well done realising it and getting well out.

jane Envy re df, is it this coming weekend he is away?

NeedToSleep everyone I know is watching the Hour and loving it.

Quiet day here today, my mum has Sofia and Olivia this morning - it will be Olivias last Wed with her because of nursery - so they are having a bit of a blow out - soft play, McDonalds and Poundland - what more could a girl ask for Grin But my mum will be starting to take Anna on Wed morn - well she has to keep up with her strange group of granny friends Grin

OP posts:
janedoe25 · 24/08/2011 13:32

wiggles he is away next weekend (when i should be Ovulating, hence why we are taking a break this month!)

Im having a quiet day too, well until 3pm when i collect the gang from school.

debka · 24/08/2011 13:51

Hey everyone!

jane I fell pg with S when I thought I'd already ov'd (had had EWCM for 3-4 days before we got round to DTD). You never know.

choc I bet you smell of wine Grin

needto hope the plumber turns up soon so you can go out

wiggles aren't mums great? Actually mine's not all that, when she's not ill in bed recovering from treatment, she's off out and about in her Motorbility car! She's the only person I know who gets a wheelchair one week then a folding bicycle the next. She really is all or nothing!

Imy is a poor snotty ball of misery today, she's only had 2 or 3 colds in her life so this has come as a bit of a shock. In bed now (thank God), now I'm debating how long to let her sleep for.

reastie · 24/08/2011 13:55

hello all, had a discussion last night with dh re how i'm struggling and somehow it turned in to dh getting upset with me re mil issues Shock Confused . Really wasn't what I needed.

needto keep forgetting to say my parents are getting their apples turned into their very own juice at some farm in ?langton green? apparently it costs £1 per litre and i think they said you need 4lbs of apples per litre - do you have enough apples for a few bottles? it's such a great idea - i think my parents should give their homegrown juice for christmas pressies Grin [obsessed by christmas] . hope the free stairgate was worth it btw

jane enjoy the quiet before the storm Wink

hubbard do you have any bio oil left from pg? i think they say on that it's good for healing scar tissue but not sure it can be used on children

i've just been asked to do 2 months work starting in 2 weeks Shock . school where i did teacher training has a food teacher having an operation so need cover. i said no to the whole job but if needed i'd consider doing a few scattered lessons a week if it fits in with bfing/child care. i don't hold out hope and i'm not really bothered but we shall see.

choc how did the vegan meal go?

MizK · 24/08/2011 14:19

hi ladies. debka sorry to hear DD has a cold, poor little thing. In my experience I would say let her sleep as long as she needs (please don't kill me if she is then awake all night...but usually they need the extra sleep and it shouldn't affect bedtime too badly.)
choco hope you haven't intoxicated the other mothers with leftover wine fumes at baby sensory....I take it a good night was had though :)
8hubbard* your FIL sounds a real sweetie, bet you are really sorry that he isn't in your life more. Glad that your boy is on the mend, resilient little creatures aren't they? Think we suffer more than them when anything happens to them.
Speaking of, as you may know my two elder DCs are in Turkey with their gps - I had a call yesterday saying that Joe (DS) had been hit by a car. Still feel sick about it all despite the fact that he is apparently fine with scratches and a swollen ankle - he was x rayed and nothings broken, and he proudly informed me that he didn't cry once. Keep thinking, what if he had stepped further into the road, the driver was apparently speeding around a corner whilst they were all getting out of a minibus, I feel like he had such a lucky escape. But morbidly I can't stop thinking about what could have happened, horrid. miss them so much and may never let them leave my sight again :( Is it weird that the fact he didn't cry makes me want to cry? He has Aspergers syndrome so is very self conscious about people laughing at him, he hates people to see him upset, so it makes me feel really sad imagining him being really brave when he was probably really shocked and upset - ugh I'm making myself well up now, wuss.
Right enough about me, hope you are all having lovely days - wiggles your girls day out sounds pretty fun actually, could do with a McFlurry myself!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 24/08/2011 14:24

reastie that's a great idea for the apples before they start turning, will have to look it up and find out more, thanks!
Dont blame you for turning down the whole two months, it would have been exhausting never mind the fact of bfing too, hope you can get some bits here and there to bring in a few extra pennies. Boo to your DH, how did it get round to your mil? Oh, and you're not alone with having a Christmas obsession, I cant wait either!

chocco I hope you've recovered now Grin, how did the vegan like the food? Are you sure you weren't taking part in come dine with me?

Still no word from the plumber... I have to wash my hair tonight, its disgusting and sure I smell of apple rice cakes NEED.HOT.WATER!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 24/08/2011 14:28

Oh, and I'm pretty sure I someone has broken the buggy, it's not clicking into place properly so worried about using it. Today is just great!

wigglesrock · 24/08/2011 14:33

MizK that's awful, poor you, it terrifying not being there to make sure they are ok for yourself. When are they due back?, you'll be giving him the biggest hug when he comes back. Mr W was hit by a car when he was 4, was very ill, he has awful scars on his head, on life support etc, even now his Mum can't talk about it. Let us know if there's anything we can do xx

reastie poo about your talk ending up being about mil from hell Grin

Girls back, absolutely knackered, more tat from Poundland but they bought me a bx of Maltesers which they have now eaten!

debka hope Imy feels better, I think Olivia might be coming down with something - nurseryschoolitis Grin

NeedToSleepZZZ · 24/08/2011 14:44

mizk x posted, so sorry about your ds, so terrifying especially when you're not there to see for yourself that he's okay. I think it's natural to have those thoughts but keep reminding yourself that he is fine. When will they get back?

wiggles thank you, I'm teetotal so even that can't cheer me up but have just had phone call to say plumber will be here in half an hour Smile. Definitely not on about the maltesers, I would demand they get you some more Wink

Iamjustthemilkmachine · 24/08/2011 15:48

So many things to comment on, such bad memory! Mizk i'd be really upset too, poor him but so brave!
Needto hope your day has turned now better.
Reastie gosh you're having such difficult time!
dh doesn't actually own a tie anymore, so i win.
Was it hubbard feeding baked beans? Wow!
Re camping: controversial but last time we all slept together under a duvet on an air mattress, really warm!
On this corner i'm doing alright with the counselling, but at home i've a really short fuse with dh, and i know he's desperated to dtd but how can i if i can't stand him?
Oh meant to say! Missed the whole dog bite thing! How awful so sorry! So many things to comment on, such bad memory! Mizk i'd be really upset too, poor him but so brave!

Iamjustthemilkmachine · 24/08/2011 15:50

What's wrong with this phone!

janedoe25 · 24/08/2011 17:11

Just a quick one mizk thats awful about your Joe, hope he has got over the shock of it. Really hope you are ok, i can imagine how terrified you were.

reastie · 24/08/2011 17:13

needto I got it wrong, it wasn't langton green it was something else green - maybe hurst green?? My parents are having the juice made on fri I think so will let you know what it's like

mizk Shock - poor you - not suprised it's affected you, it would send me into a wobble

wiggles we got onto mil topic as dh said he would ring mil to ask ehr to look after alice so I got some time on my own, to which i responded that this would cause more anxiety/stress than the time on my own was worth cue heated debate Confused

milkmachine I said milkmachine you cant stand dh? are things ok at kintta towers? Is this a post baby thing?

NeedToSleepZZZ · 24/08/2011 17:26

reastie thank you, I know where hurst green is and it's not that far so hope it goes well!

milkmachine are you knitta? Missed the name change, sorry! Thank you, we have hot water again, hooray Smile So sorry to hear about the problems with dtd, OH and I are still having problems so I understand and it does sort of affect other things and magnify the small issues. Glad to hear the counselling session went well though, it will get better and you are doing all the right things.
