Hey all, reastie sorry to hear you were feeling abit rubbish, don't be Blush at venting on here, its what we're for! Good list there from wiggles and I hope thurs is ok (as it can be iyswim). Go A with the eating - what has she had today?!

delia glad everything went smoothly, love the image of C having a little chatter to herself about her exciting day in her cot Grin

wiggles love the photos esp the one of all the 3 of them, there really is a difference between that one and the one taken a while ago isn't there, and not just A its all 3 girls!

Hi wandering Grin at your multi posts, I still get a bit emotional when we go near the hospital, know what you mean there. Good luck for camping! (hope you won't need it) Where abouts are you going?

Thanks for all nice comments re: dd photos :)

Borg I am going to see if I can make them open to you too, was the compliment that went wrong when I thought you meant she looks like a boy?! She still gets mistaken for a boy whenever she's wearing blue so I didn't mind that!

Got a phone call from surestart, they have baby massage starting in Sept and I'll hopefully be attending that, now she's a rolling baby hope she doesn't just roll around not letting me massage her Grin

Deliaskis · 23/08/2011 16:24

reastie in a way tho, as you only have so much RAM for stress in your head right now, can you try and think of a way of 'parking' the back to work question until you can do something about it. I am very good at work of saying...right, I don't have the info I need to do that/make that decision etc. so it's not even on my to do list at the mo. So try not to think about it as a month of uncertainty, but more a month of waiting to complete step 1 of strategy before you can move onto step 2, the actual decision making. I know it's harder for personal stuff but in many ways, you are sorting the work/childcare situ, by planning to talk to SIL about MIL etc.

I don't mean to sound glib but maybe after Thursday you will feel a bit better anyway. It's a huge thing hanging over you, the time between someone passing and the funeral is always horrible, it's just like a big black cloud and you can't start to move on until after then. I hope Friday feels a bit fresher (I don't mean you will forget etc. just that it's the next phase).

There's something someone very wise wrote about fixing/acting on the things you can control, and not expending energy on the things you can't. It was obviously written much more eloquently than that, but when I have been in the midst of stressful situations, it has helped.

Sorry if any of this is annoying...it might well be...

Dx
PS you're not being needy!

ILovePonyo · 23/08/2011 16:24

cross post choco Grin to the party rings, yum yum. I would bin the empty pack and no one will question it if there;s a spare pack too - you can tell I have done similar Wink
Well done with all the cooking, thats impressive! Funnily enough dd was chewing on the laptop charger earlier Hmm

Deliaskis · 23/08/2011 16:26

choc defo hide and pretend, sorry...what packet...buy one get one free...noooooooo?

ILovePonyo · 23/08/2011 19:21

dd in bed and possibly asleep without any crying Shock

fgs I just wrote that sentence and she started crying Hmm Grin she also went to bed without her last bottle so another dream feed it is.

I am starting to stress a bit about how much she is/isn't eating, can I be nosy and ask those of you whose babies are having 2/3 meals a day to put what time and when and what they having on an average day pleeease? Am curious.

Am going to speak to hv tomo about weaning too as am having dd weighed.
I just got in the bath with her (dd not hv) Grin and it dawned on me that she might weigh one whole stone now. THEN it dawned on me that that is (at least) the amount of weight I want to lose - thats loads! How depressing...

wigglesrock · 23/08/2011 19:36

chocoroo party rings are Os favourite, she lurves them, but has to eat them in a particular colour order Hmm

ILovePonyo Anna wakes up at 6.30amish - at 7am she has either Ready Brek or a bit of Weetabix and a finger or two of toast or some fruit. She had a wedge of melon this morning

She has some kind of snack mid morning - frutapura, breadsticks, bits of apple, cheese

Lunch at 11.30am-12pm : bit of a jar/pouch then some kind of dessert like fromage frais

Dinner at 3.30pmish - some tuna or pasta mashed up with sauce, a bit of grated cheese, then some fruit.

She would have the odd bit of something the girls have like a pizza crust, a bit of sandwich, crisp. She doesn't like the rice cakes but will have a bit of Heinz baby biscotti Shock or Rich Tea with a bit of peanut butter, soft cheese etc.

ILovePonyo · 23/08/2011 19:39

wiggles when does she have her bottles?

Love O's party ringd ocd Wink

debka · 23/08/2011 19:42

ponyo S has refused her last feed for weeks now and still sleeps through... She has a bf at about 7, 10, 2 and 5. I offer one before bed but she rarely has any. She has fruit and yoghurt and banana (equivalent of about 1-2 jars) in the morning, some finger food at lunchtime which she pushes around a bit, and then masses at teatime (about 6)- tonight she had a weetabix, loads of yoghurt and some fruitcake (yes, the 1.5yr old one!).

reastie hope your day improved and you're feeling a bit calmer :)

Girls proper whiney and annoying today, think we might be coming down with colds. Imy came into the kitchen today holding a plastic carrier bag and said: PUT MINE'S HEAD IN IT MUMMY!! Ladies, I was tempted.... Grin

Emski76 · 23/08/2011 19:43

Ponyo, Noah is having three meals a day plus three bottles. He has weetabix/porridge with fruit at 7amish, then about 120ml milk at 10/10.30, lunch at midday, usually mashed veg and water to drink, bottle 120ml at 2/2.30, tea at 4.30/5,sandwich or mashed veg or fruit then last bottle at 6.45ish, up to 240ml hungry milk. Phew when written down it's a huge amount, no wonder he's so big!
My sis blended a shepherds pie for him which he ate for tea.

Choc, your party rings pig out made me chuckle, defo lie about buy one get one free!

Reastie, am thinking about you loads and hoping your ok.

Delia, so glad your work is going well. Makes me feel less worried about returning to work myself.

wigglesrock · 23/08/2011 19:53

Ponyo She would have one at 9.30/10amish, she sometimes wouldn't have a snack midmorning, then one around 2pmish, then one after bath/ bedtime. She would still have a bit of a bottle around 3amish.

debka We had a very difficult afternoon here Hmm, it was like the last 8 weeks of holidays - staying up slightly later, running around all day etc finally caught up on Olivia - we had book ripping, stomping, No I won'ting etc - not pleasant!

OP posts:
ILovePonyo · 23/08/2011 20:06

Thanks all - very interesting to see what the babies have been eating - quite a lot by the looks of things! Ok I have another question - how did you know to offer breakfast in the morning and not a bottle/breast? I can imagine dd just wanting her bottle straight away and getting upset if I try to give her food.

I know I'm prob overthinking it but you knowledgable lot are the only people I can ask it seems!

wiggles just seen that you posted on dvd thread just before me, great minds think alike re: modern family eh. Shock at O's big strop, do you want to laugh sometimes when they have massive tantrums?!

Four4me · 23/08/2011 20:12

reastie big hugs to you.

wiggles had my dsis over this week, have been talking to her about your park, she loves it! Hope O is less stompy tomorrow!

So glad work went well Delia

Hiya to everyone else, been too busy to read through for a few days. Archie is not wanting 'boob' as much either now he is having more solids. Had him weighed today 16lb15.
My ds1 and 2 are 14 months apart. I got preg when ds1 was six months like ours are now. I like having them close, they are best pals now. Then there is a four and three quarter years till Imogen. Her and Archie are 16 months apart, so it couldn't have been too bad as we did it again!

wigglesrock · 23/08/2011 20:16

ILovePonyo the other two would have had a bottle before breakfast, its just Anna doesn't seem that bothered. Whats funny about Sofia and Olivia is that they'll be half way through their meltdown, then see something interesting on the tv and all of a sudden its all forgotten and the tears have miraculously dried up Grin. Olivia doesn't stop moving or talking from about 8am - 6pm seriously, so when she does realise she's tired it just hits her, whereas Sofia will just lie up and "have a little relax" sometimes Grin

We get bought box sets for Christmas or for Mr Ws birthday, just before Christmas, I would never have watched Modern Family but our friends bought the first series for us and we loved it.

OP posts:
Emski76 · 23/08/2011 20:16

Ponyo, Noah always has bottle with breakfast as sometimes he's too hungry to wait for his breakfast to reach his tummy, so I give him a bit of milk, then pop a spoonful of brekkie in, I keep doing this until he's happy to just eat his food.
Wiggles, tantrums are the worst, Ben used to growl at me if I tried to touch him when he was tantruming. Ponyo sometimes dh and I would look away from him so he didnt have any attention but also so he wouldn't see s laughing!

ILovePonyo · 23/08/2011 20:33

Hmm interesting re: breakfast bottle too, I must remember all babies are different including mine! Grin I appreciate the replies though thank you.

I have just laughed at wiggles girls getting distracted from tantrums by the telly and ems and dh looking away laughing - I can imagine me and dp doing that, aah we've got it all to come... :)

Four4 I already knew you have 4 children but still was a bit Shock at the age gaps - how do you do it?! The thought of another baby is still a v scary one for me at the mo.

Deliaskis · 23/08/2011 20:59

Ponyo C's food/milk goes as follows (bear in mind she's petite so quantities are smallish):

7.00 - large bottle (7oz for her is large) then use the last 20ml to make porridge
11.00 - small bottle (4oz) then lunch at about 11.30, puree of some kind, equivalent to half a stage 1 jar, followed probably by some fruit puree
14.00 - large bottle
17.00 - small bottle then tea straight after, roughly the same as lunch quantity wise
18.30 - large bottle then bed

I give her a chunk of bread between breakfast milk and porridge (whilst I eat my breakfast, as am now having to get us both out by 8), and maybe a rice cracker or similar around teatime, but to be honest, she doesn't 'get' finger food at all yet, just waves it around enthusiastically and talks to it for a bit.

I started off doing bottles before food as I weaned earlyish and knew milk was most important (and was always a battle for C so didn't want milk to drop off too quickly). In the next month or so I will work towards getting more protein and calcium in her diet, particularly dairy, and will drop the two small bottles and replace with water, leaving the three large ones. Will probably also offer mid-morning water and snack when lunch pushes closer to 12.

Dx

Four4me · 23/08/2011 21:07

ponyo mine have all had milk either bottle or boob first thing. You'll prob find that she will gradually take less milk. My first three have been on three meals and just two milk feeds by seven months, simply by them refusing milk at any other time. So milk first thing, then 'bix, lunch, tea and milk after bath before bed. Just be led by her at the moment and see how she goes.

ILovePonyo · 23/08/2011 21:12

Ooh thanks delia, I think C sounds quite similar to dd (small baby, milk feeds a battle Grin) The difference is that dd prefers finger food and quite happily chews on it, just doesn't seem to swallow much. Are you ar work tomo?

ILovePonyo · 23/08/2011 21:15

Thanks four4, be led by her is good advice actually, I've got to have something to stress about havn't I?! Wink She is still having a big bottle first thing so I will continue with that until she has less. Bought some baby banana porrige thing today (I know I'm a sucker, weetabix would be just as good and cheaper) so might try that tomo after bottle.

wigglesrock · 23/08/2011 21:19

ILovePonyo All have mine have loved the jars of porridge, I gave them those to get them used to it and then switched to Ready Brek. Weetabix took a bit of time with Anna, its also a bugger to get out of clothes, both hers and mine Grin

WanderingSheep · 23/08/2011 21:25

Hello!

Ponyo L is only having one meal a day at the moment and is still having 4 bottles of 8 oz (although she doesn't always want the full 8 ounces)

She usually has bottles at 7 am, 11 am, 3 pm and 7 pm then she goes to bed! I usually give her food at tea time

She seems quite happy on this amount but I'm going to start offering her more soon

I often find it hilarious when DD1 has a tantrum Blush although she's a madam and the slightest thing can set her off!

Those of you who give wheatabix for breakfast - do you give normal wheatabix or baby? I think I just used to give DD1 the ordinary stuff as the baby one didn't look much different

Reastie I didn't realise your Grandad had died, I must have missed your post, I'm so so sorry! I hope that the funeral on Thursday goes as well as it possibly can - I'll be thinking of you

Don't worry about being needy, we all are at times! Smile

The DDs have driven me bonkers today! I've been trying to sort everything out ready for camping and couldn't get anything done! Once one had stopped moaning/whinging/wanting feeding etc the other one started, grr! DD1 makes such a bloody mess everywhere she goes too, crayons usually everywhere - spent ages tidying them up and she came back downstairs and tipped them all back out again when she was looking for glue!

DD2 is getting so frustrated at not being mobile and doesn't know what to do with herself sometimes

She is trying her hardest to crawl but gets so annoyed that she hasn't mastered it! She has just started sitting up but is quite wobbly Grin she'll sit for a while and then slowly slide forward! Ooh, and we have a tooth - it's just peeking through (bottom one)

ILovePonyo · 23/08/2011 21:26

Grin wiggles yes I have found the same with banana, I think I washed a baby gro about 4 times and it still didn't come out. Oh dear hope this banana porridge isn't the same Hmm Its from a packet that you add water to btw, not that that really makes a difference.

You can tell I have my own laptop and wireless can't you - dp is out tonight so I can't be accused of ignoring him either Grin

Where is byronic btw - is she away or just not been on for a while?

ILovePonyo · 23/08/2011 21:31

wandering you have just given me a good idea - am going to offer dd bigger bottles but further apart, am currently doing 6oz every 3 hours but she never drinks all 6oz.

dd is getting frustrated at not being able to move too, she tries to crawl but rubs her head into the floor at the same time which hinders it a bit :) Another tooth on the thread too - wow! Good luck packing tomorrow Wink

WanderingSheep · 23/08/2011 21:34

There are a few people that we haven't seen for a while - I wonder how SmallBlackFlowers and ZeroMinusZero are

Four4me · 23/08/2011 21:40

wandering I know your pain! It takes me ages to get anything organised! The difficult one is Imogen (2 at the end of sept). I pack up bags and put them by the back door and she sneaks through and has a rummage and wanders back with what she has taken! I do all my laundry on a night when she is in bed as she has a thing for pegs! She steals them and I find them all over the house! A six month old is a piece of cake compared to the 'enemy' age of 16 months - 2 ish IMHO!
