ILovePonyo · 09/08/2011 07:41

Morning, tadj lovely photos, agree the last one is beautiful!

I cannot believe what I'm seeing on the news, hope your g'ps are ok deb. My mum works in Birmingham city centre so I've text her and told her not to go in! Theres also been some stuff kicking off here in nottingham, not very near me but I live in a rough/notorious area so hope nothing kicks off later.

DEB what fantatstic news, a whole nights sleep for you! Grin Bet you feel great this morning, god knows you deserve it. Long may it continue!

reastie sorry about your g'dad, are you going to visit him tomorrow?

Four4 two teeth?! maybe he has a high pain threshold Grin

ledkr your night out sounds good, hows your head today Wink

Right sorry I have to go and sort out little miss noisy, she was awake quite a lot last nigh, weird.

reastie · 09/08/2011 07:42

tad love the photos and I agree - that place of all of you looks incredible Envy

deb Grin Grin Grin fab news. I'll be asking you for advice/tips very soon Hmm . Oh, and, erm, thanks for the dog and poo update Confused [gag]

I am so Shock at what went on last night Confused with the rioting. Can't believe it :(

Does anyone else here have yahoo mail? Mine won't work last night/today and wondering if it's just me as it's really frustrating.

Four4me · 09/08/2011 08:47

deb what a super star! I bet you feel like a new woman, she has proved she can do it now......no going back S!

ledkr hope the head isn't too banging! Sounds like a real laugh!

tad lovely photos, tis certainly more picturesque than Tadcaster!

ponyo he has either a high pain threshold or is the last of four and hasn't been shouting loud enough.

What a week to decide to go on a jolly to the big smoke, in more ways than one.

ledkr · 09/08/2011 10:04

Hi all.Well done deb i bet you wish you'd done it ages ago now?
I may have to do it a bit as D seems to sleep some nights and some not.Unfortunatly shge chose last night not too which was brilliantly timed with my night out Angry She doesnt seem to want anything just awake.Dh asked me what he should do and i snapped "i dont know ive never had ababy who still wakes up at 6 months tbh" he got her back off in the pram then put her in cot,she woke again at 4.30 had some milk (with eyes closed) then back down but only till 7. She slept all night the 2 previous ones so i dont know whether to do cc on the nights she does wake up. deb?

The riots are terrible. Absolute wankers. Its just chavs kids who want to steal. The police are overwhelmed,it shows you how inequipt we are for an emergency (zombie attack) A lot of these people wont get insurance as its riot so wont be covered.Cant believe they are doing it in Brum and Bristol-did they also know Mark Guggan then? It will be the final straw for the economy i think,we are going to start squirrling away some money food.

Cant beleive all the do gooders that wont bring the army in "cos people get hurt" Im sure they'd feel differently if it was their lives under threat.

ledkr · 09/08/2011 10:06

four4 are you still going?

debka · 09/08/2011 10:10

ledkr our problem was just being awake in the night and the cc seems to have solved that , I would give it a go, she needs to learn! Better get her sleep sorted before her op I would say as well.

tad you're from Tadcaster? Wow, definitely more pretty! Although Taddy (as DH calls it) isn't far from the Dales and that's pretty . BTW was just thinking about horrid smelly solids poo! Was sitting on sofa with both girls yesterday and could smell poo (no it wasn't the vile dog!), kept checking S but nothing there- then noticed Imy looking shifty- yup, massive poo in HER nappy. I'll be soooo glad when she finally potty trains.

Four4me · 09/08/2011 10:48

ledkr we haven't discussed it yet as dh has been 'up north' for a couple of days. He is back today (thank god, need some help!) and so We'll talk tonight. We have a train booked into central London and the hotel is central, plus we'll be back at the hotel early evening. Am obsessed with watching the news.

ledkr · 09/08/2011 10:57

so am i tho,i felt quite tearfull a few times, especially reading threads on here with people fearfull.I feel bad tho cos dd has just asked me if it will happen here. Me and dh work with a fairly lawless client group and have seen this coming for years-no self respect, control over kids and a big sense of self entitlement. Its bloody senseless.

deb the new authority on cc. So she goes down ok since cc,so if she wakes what do i do?And when do i draw the line with milk?At 4.30 she did seem hungry but mostly doent have feeds in the night.I may get dh yto do it and ill have Ella up with me. Im fed up of catching up on sleep then having it disrupted again,im fed up with always being tired and having a bloody headache too.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 09/08/2011 10:59

Morning,

Well done deb, long may it continue Smile

fourforme really hope the tablets work sounds horrid but good for A with his teeth, really hope B gets some soon as the diarrhoea is awful... Are you still going to London? My brother is in Clapham and I was planning to see him on Friday but not sure now, might leave it a week. He was texting me last night to give me running commentary as it was at the end of his road. He said that as he lives in nappy valley the residents will defend themselves with prams and olives Grin

ledkr I am very Envy at your night out and your ability to function the day after, I am officially a lightweight. Hope D follows Sabine in her sleeping soon.

Another moan about OH I'm afraid, why can't he learn how to do the sodding washing up properly??? Seriously, I have to rewash everything every time and clean the steriliser as he puts unclean bottles in there Angry Okay, rant over for the day.

reastie · 09/08/2011 12:12

needto was the class called 'sing and sign'? We are doing that next month assuming my CBT is finished by then Grin

Last baby sensory of the term today so we had a partyyyyyyy Grin . There was a photographer there Shock to do pics for us to spend all our money on to buy. Looking forward to seeing them but wish I had known beforehand so I could have brushed my hair looked respectable.

I'm getting really Confused about all this rioting. I know I sound a little mad but over the past few months I've been getting a bit obsessively paranoid about the world and what's happening - I keep hearing things like how USA/UK are living on debt and China is uprising as the biggest state in the world and the potential war between various countries and the increase in world population and antibiotics not working and superbugs and the amount of extra food we will have to produce and the decrease in fossil fuels etc etc etc and now the stocks are going mad and there are riots on the street it's making me even more Confused Shock Hmm Sad . Sorry, that was a little dull deep.

so deb oh wise one - how long would be the max you would let bean cry and do you just leave her or do our talk/pat her or anything?

44 let us know your decision re: london

ledkr do you think if things get really desperate they will call in police from other regions (like your dh) to help (not wanting to worry you, just interested)

40Weeks · 09/08/2011 12:13

Hello everyone

deb I am so pleased for you with the sleep, great girl Sabine. Must be a relief.

Agreed the news has been horrifying. My mum works for a bloke who has three jewellers and one of them got done over, and reastie one of the shops at Nugent got looted, Game, I think. Kids walking out with playstations under their arms, you can't tell me their parents won't work out what's happened!!! there were a few gangs gathering near my mums house last night but seemed to have bypassed her house and trashed the high street. So so awful. I hope they don't let the press go to town on so called 'police brutality' photos now, trying to evoke sympathy for those fuckers. I hope for once we let them get on with it. Damned if they do blah blah.

Urggh sorry I have not commented on everyones posts just feel so angry and sad at the moment. People are saying they are ashamed to be Londoners and it makes me mad because they are not in the same category as these tossers. Another reason for the RotW to slag off the brits

reastie · 09/08/2011 12:28

at the nugent 34 ??? Shock Shock Shock - that's only 10 mins away from me Shock . Typical the looted game though and not mothercare or pets and home Wink

reastie · 09/08/2011 12:29

they looted 'game' (the shop), not the looted game (which sounds rather a bad idea for a game)

Emski76 · 09/08/2011 12:46

Yes, all this rioting is starting to worry everyone now. I am ashamed to be British at the moment, for the first time in my life! What kind of country /world are we trying to bring our children up in. I think this is the start of the big downturn for this country, as if it wasn't crap enough as it is. I wonder how many of the dickheads actually know the name of the man who was killed??!! I hope any if you or your families that are close to the riots are ok.

Anyway into happier things. Noah is currently cutting two front teeth. I can see them coming thru his gum. He's been ok at night, thank goodness, but has had gel, powder and calpol today. He's worse when he's tired, poor baby.
Feel a bit sad that the gummy smiles will be gone soon, but excited at the same time.

ledkr · 09/08/2011 13:02

Need to not suffering?I am,tho cos didnt get to sleep it off.Ella has just gone out with her dad and i was going to kip cos D is asleep, just had a look and she is awake again Sad
reastie Dh wont get called to London as isnt riot trained but more likely his leave will be cancelled to cover other riot trained cops. Tbh,i dont mind in times of dire emergency like this, just not the sodding olympics iyswim.
40 i am sad too, this is endemic of parents not controlling their kids.
I wonder what the future holds for our kids.
Most of them are youths and despite what pm said, tey will not be dealt with harshly due to the constraints put upon the courts ability to deal with them. The magistrates do not have the power to deal out harsh sentences, they will have to give them cushy supervision orders where they will be taken for a burger once a week by an equally hand tied worker like me . Untill we impose either stiffer penalties on young people or their parents this will only get worse.

Just saw footage of lovely local people clearing up with dustbans-im not ashamed of that.

wigglesrock · 09/08/2011 13:43

Hello, well done Sabine and an even bigger well done debka

tadjennyp pics are gorgeous

Watched tv for most of the night Shock, couldn't believe what I was seeing, I've seen my fair share of riots but I've never seen looting, we don't loot here, our mas would feckin' kill us, its ok to burn buses but we don't steal Grin

reastie Mr W is avoiding answering the phone, incase they want their water cannon Grin

Four4Me hope your trip goes ahead, I'd go but hopefully you and dh can come up with some kind of consensus.

Am heading off to Dublin for the zoo tomorrow, its supposed to start raining here later and not stop for a couple of days Hmm.

OP posts:
debka · 09/08/2011 13:45

ledkr and reastie most say you go in after 5 mins, then 10, then 20 etc and just check them, don't pick them up or soothe, and just leave them for as long as it takes. My mum said she did it with me and he wonderful (apparently) HV told her to just leave me. That's what I did Blush, I was just too tired to go in and out.

44me there's no way I'd go to London if it were me.

There are a lot of parents who have a lot to answer for IMO.

My FiL has gone out and stocked up on tins of food Hmm and has dug out his baseball bat.

reastie · 09/08/2011 14:11

deb so you go in, say, after 5 mins and stay there soothing them until the stop crying and then walk out and leave for longer next time? It's just we do that with alice and she is fine when we are there but as soon as we leave she screams WORSE than before we went in iykwim.

ledkr I agree re: your soap box. I heard all the police cells in london were full already so the criminals are being shipped out further afield. I heard on the radio half an hour ago they are telling people in bromley to close shops/leave already as they are expecting probs there soon - it's only lunch time Shock . DH sometimes has jobs in bromley so I'm trying to get him on the phone to warn him re: potential traffic probs etc but his phone is off Confused . It just doesn't feel real all these terrible things so suddenly like this does it? Feels like I'm a bit in a film or something.

wiggles have a great time at dublin zoo. I've been to dublin a couple of times but not the zoo. I once went to dublin with a friend when we were teens and we hired a limo to take us around town etc and when we got out in the city centre for dinner there was a crowd of people around the limo thinking we were famous and then taking our piccie as we walked to the restaurant Grin Grin (this was in the day where any old joe bloggs hired them and they were still rare seleb-fied Grin

deb stocking up on tins of food is the type of thing I would do Wink but haven't yet Hmm

Well, I am blessing freecycle as I just collected a lovely baby bath seat from a lady close to where I love for free. I've been looking for one on ebay but keep getting outbidded and then spotted this one for free - I'm very Grin . Oh, but I'm also Shock Sad as when I was driving there I drove past an elderly man on the floor by the road looking really ill like he had collapsed. there were 2 men there with him looking after him and it didn't appear like it had just happened but I keep thinking i should've stopped to help. I feel so terrible that I didn't. At the time I felt I should stop (as I'm a first aider at work) but the things that stopped me was that there were already 2 people there, I had alice with me and last time I assisted as a first aider at an emergency was a car accident and I was so shook up by the whole experience I had to take a week off work and had to see my gp re: flash backs (and am still troubled by it). I really didn't think I could cope with a situation like that emotionally at the minute unless I had to iykwim despite the fact they were very different just driving past it bought it all back. I feel such a terrible person for driving past though but if no one else was there or if the 2 people there looked like they needed help I would have. DO you think I should've stopped?

debka · 09/08/2011 14:14

reastie no you don't soothe, you just check and go. She will cry more, but you just leave her. It is pretty hard core and not for the weak, if you don't think you could stomach it then PUPD might be more for you.

Of course you did the right thing, there were already 2 people helping the man, you had Alice and you couldn't have coped. Don't worry!

reastie · 09/08/2011 14:18

thanks deb the cc thing - you look at her to check she's OK - you don't say anything or touch her or anything?? and then walk out. Do you give it a maximim time of crying or just keep going for potentially hours?

debka · 09/08/2011 14:29

That's it reastie. , no you just keep going. S did an hour first night, but it rapidly decreases.

hubbard86 · 09/08/2011 14:49

well looks like my towns on alert for rioters. Was planning a trip into town tomorrow but i think i will avoid. There's riot vans everywhere. It's worse than when wolves play west brom. My cuz lives in in croydon and kept in touch with her last night. She could see the fire from her window. We were all so worried, it took her 2 hrs to get to work this mornin. I gave freya some toast with cheese spread and some mango fingers for lunch and she wolfed it. Her gums are so hard wouldn't be suprised to see teeth in the nxt couple of weeks. Hope your all ok xx

reastie · 09/08/2011 15:00

OMG I've just seen some of the clips of violence on sky news Shock . up until now i've only seen piccies and listened to radio but not any actual clips. it's shocking. i can't believe this is happening in this day and age in london. is it the same people every time do you think?

WanderingSheep · 09/08/2011 15:31

Hi ladies Smile

I agree, it's shocking what's happening atm although I haven't had much chance to see/hear any news

Are any of you near the riots? WTF is happening to our country? Sad Shock We were living down in London last summer for DH's work and loved it but I'm glad we're not there at the moment

On a happier note - no sign of teeth here! I thought there was as L's bottom gums were white and she's been dribbling and chewing her hand loads, but there's no white now so I guess the teeth are just moving around? I'm surprised TBH as DD1 cut her first tooth at 5 months and I thought DD2 would be the same, I'm loving the gummy smiles though Grin

Sorry I haven't done individual replies - you lot are so chatty and I'm so so tired!

Love the new title, thanks wiggles
