Yes, I've been thinking of needle, hope all is well.

tsc that sounds nasty, hope you're better now.

cake, how sweet is F? Glad A had a good day. WHat did she think of the cake?

Took J for his first haircut today. He had only just woken up and sat so goodly to have it done. I can't believe how much better it looks now! Shame he then cried all through me having my hair cut...

Right, any of you bakers any good with regal icing? I need to re-ice the top tier of our wedding cake for the christening on Sunday. I have watched a YouTube video but does anyone have any tips? I've bought marzipan as well as I like it even if no one else does. Plus a blue icing pen to decorate. Eek!

Happy birthday A!

tsc that sounds like a nasty bug I hope you feel better soon.

The past two nights D has been an complete nightmare to get to bed I think it is because he can hear the other kids playing outside. I would shut his window but the house is so warm that I would be afraid that he would actually cook :o

kkfairybrains · 27/07/2011 21:01

Aw woodlands did you keep some of his hair?
Sorry you're having such a trying time mlic :( poor little W.

D took two attempts at settling tonight, seems to have an issue with settling atm but has stayed down so far.
Off to brum tomorrow, party sat, looking forward to it loads, just hope D's cold stays at bay, if thats what it is.

kkfairybrains · 27/07/2011 21:44

was meant to say yesterday too, people are constantly referring to E as a boy :( the 2 worst ones were, 1 a few weeks ago at the blessings of the graves it was a lovely sunny day and E was dressed in pink leggings and a pink and white dress and pigtails in her hair and somebody asked me 'how old is he?' and then yesterday when my dad was up we were in a shop with all lovely nik naks and E was asleep in the buggy so i left her up the top of the shop with dad so as not to break anything and a woman was looking at something and dad said he'd move the buggy and the woman looked in and said 'oh isn't she gorgeous, oh sorry HE'. and she had a green and pink top and a clip in her hair and in pigtails again!!! grrrrr!!! it's always happening! i don't know how she could look more like a girl!

Dylthan · 27/07/2011 21:44

mlic :o @ E taking his bike into the library. There's not enough room to swing a cat in our local library let alone take in a bike :o

Woodlands · 27/07/2011 22:47

people are so odd, aren't they! If I'm not sure whether a baby is a boy or a girl I am careful to say something like "How old is your little one" or something.

I thought about keeping some hair, kk, but couldn't find anything to keep it in and I thought it would probably just gather dust on a shelf somewhere.

CakeandRoses · 28/07/2011 00:12

caught up with reading your posts but now run out of time to post properly

suffice to say, i keep thinking you all wish you could see my penis Shock Grin

Some bloke at the shopping centre yesterday thought my friend'slitttle boy was a girl, He was wearing a bodysuit and jeans and brown shoes. Shes chinese and her husband is english so her son has got mostly her features but he still looks like a boy!

Good luck at the retail park mlic. how's w today?

pleased your sticker chart went well. i've stepped in and am getting F back on track re mornings after dh derailed him a couple of weeks ago by letting him get up at ridiculous hours of the morning Angry

He's now waking up after 6am, having his milk and playing in his room til his groclock comes on at 7am. Much more civilised.

sweet of your dh re his bday. i didn't realise he was the same age as me. is he cool about turning 40? i still can't get my head round sounding so grown up.

kk v annoying about people thinking the gorgeous E is a boy but it really does happen to most babies so try not to take it personally! the worst incident i've known was when F and his (girl) friend were about 9months and a cafe owner said "Cor, he's a bruiser' Shock talking about the little girl (whilst she was sitting right next to my delicate little boy!) She's now very girly with long dark hair (you've prob seen her in my pics) and no-one says it now!

woodlands mullets on boys are all good - see F and mlic's E.

A was not impressed with the cake. First she looked at it like "wtf, you're setting MY food on fire??!!" and then she didn't seem to like the taste which is a first for her! we all did tho Smile

is J in nursery today?

trudy is it M's birthday today? If so, happy birthday M! How're things there?

tsc the job sounds fantastic. something i'm sure you'll be great at and enjoy too - bonus!

chul when you back?? missing you!

re needle I too fb messaged her a while ago and haven't heard back. hoping she's just busy again.

Both F & A are at nursery all day today Sad dh suggested it might be nice to have a final day to myself today as I'm starting work properly next week and also a proper trial run for A to be in nursery for a whole day (I've been nervous about it altho there's no real reason as she loves it there)

have had choc cake in bed for breakfast, am now thinking of walking to gym for sauna then going for a sandblasting facial and a pedicure. woooohoooo, it's like it's my birthday Smile

woodlands, not an expert on regal icing, but a tip I was given was to do thin layers and let each dry fully before adding the next, think 3 layers of icing was suggested. Oh, and you need to let the marzipan dry before adding the icing, so best get cracking Grin (needs the marzipan to stop the colour of the cake staining the icing I think)

Neither of mine got birth certificate holders, and E only got one set of first curl & tooth boxes. None for L, or bibles. When we were going to one Christening and told a friend we had struggled to find a nice child's Bible, she thought that was an odd Christening gift Hmm. Maybe lots of people think that way, but is our 'usual' gift Grin

mlic that sounds like a lovely idea for Saturday - isn't it your dh that doesn't normally even like going to the park?

Got two whingey whiney children today - oh what fun! Oh and been awake since 4:45 when L woke (he went back to sleep but I didn't) Angry

Looks like another nice day here, but will probably end up going round the shops as really need to start buying E's school uniform for September and she wants to come with me. Will probably pick my mil up on the way to the big M&S - and I think she has a voucher for a free cream tea for two so might have to use that Wink diet can start (again) tomorrow

have a busy few days being back at work, but will try to catch up with everyones posts soon

totally agree tsc. that's why i won't have my two christened Wink

nice one on your night weaning. keep the faith!

dummies - whose baby is still using one and what plans have you got to bin it? I'm really hoping to ditch it in the next week or so but i'm sooo scared about doing it even tho i know from experience it'll never be as bad as i think. A's much more stubborn than F was too and I think she'll get the hump big-style about going to sleep without it.

mlic in many ways i feel like your dh about turning 40. people are always Shock when they find out my age and i feel perfectly fit and well despite no actual exercise but it's having a real effect on me in terms of feeling mortal and realising that we all get old and die (no shit sherlock).

i used to too mlic Sad, i actually believed that if i stay healthy i could easily live forever - that's why it's come as such a shock now. perhaps i need to get back to thinking i'm immortal again, i really felt much happier then.

Hi all,

yes, it's M's birthday today. We had birthday cake in the morning. She absolutely loved it and was on a really sugar high after, kept crawling around like crazy, doing dramatic turns. Very funny (and a lfittle bit scary Grin )

Went tfo a caf after for coffee (and milk) and she is now having a nap, but just woke and DP is trying to get her back down. She also woke much earlier in the morning today, wonder if she was excited Wink

She seems to like all her presents, especially the talking Wallace and Gromit card ffrom her grandparents.

Right, doesn't look like she's staying down, so I'df better be off. #

Have a good day all.
