Happy birthday Harlyn, hope you all have a fab day!

Just one more birthday to go then all our little terrors will be one Grin

mapletrees · 01/10/2011 09:36

Happy Birthday Harlyn! :o Hope you, mummy and daddy all have a great day...

(No great feats of memory here saoirse, I just check back at the list someone reposted at the beginning of the month Wink If it was left to my memory alone, Louis would have been lucky to get a card Grin)

Congratulations sassy I'm so pleased for you. It must be such a relief. Heard on the radio early yesterday that it was the day you would find out, but I was out on site all day so could get to a computer to see if you'd posted 'til late - was keeping my fingers crossed all day for you though Smile

cinnamon That fall sounds horrible. Well done for protecting Luke so well - hope you're not still paying for it this morning..

beadit I hope you've come to a decision that you're all happy with (now and in the future) regarding Jack's helmet. You've done so well persevering for so long...

JodeyBogeyPicker · 01/10/2011 11:49

Thanks guys, busy getting sorted for the party lateopeNope u and you Lo's are all well xx

comixminx · 02/10/2011 17:45

Congratulations from me too, sassy - I was out of it and didn't realise this big decision was coming up, but it's clearly the right one for you guys, good stuff!

cinnamon, how horrible to have fallen in a scary way. Look after yourself.

Happy birthday to Harlyn! One more birthday baby to come, indeed....

Aphra is being much harder to get to sleep than usual at present. Last night she went to sleep fine at 8:30 or so, slept until 12:30 and then wouldn't go down again after a feed - her dad had to walk her around and then she still woke up again after only 20 minutes or something. We gave her calpol and usually that is all we need to do as a last resort, but this time we had to bring her into our bed too, which we normally don't do. It was as if she was much more awake than she should have been, not really as if she was in pain or discomfort but as she was pretty grizzly that's why we thought we could try calpol. She did sleep in the end, in our bed, but it makes our night rather more broken. And then she woke up much earlier than we wanted, the little monkey, bright as a button.

I'm wondering about giving up breastfeeding because it is getting more uncomfortable now that she has two top and two bottom teeth, given that she holds on to my boob with her hand and then pulls back with her head! Ouch. Also it just doesn't seem to be the magic bullet that it used to be for getting her to sleep easily and quickly. But I don't really know how I'd go about it, because she's still quite keen really. Would I give her a bottle of warm cow's milk and not bother with formula, maybe? Or (heh heh) have DP do all the getting up at night - which would be ok except that until now me doing it has been much more effective and quick than shushing her on a shoulder. In a bit of a quandrary!

lumpylumps · 03/10/2011 09:12

Happy birthday Harlyn!

Cinnamon Hope you're ok after you're fall. Must have been scary. I fell out the door holding ds1 when i was pregnant. its awful trying to fall so as not to hurt them! They're both really settled in nursery, they love it. Olly had to miss 2 days last week because of his chicken pox but ds1 still went without a problem! He has made friends with the "naughty" one tho! Not sure how i feel about that! I know I can't control who he becomes friends with but he's such a good quiet little boy, I don't want him being led astray!

Sassy YEY YEY YEY!!! thats great news. I'm really pleased for you. I got your message too. thanks. I got all excited when I read the 1st line of Comix post, thought you'd had the baby!

Well, we had a lovely weekend despite the chicken pox & me getting a tummy bug! I wasn't impressed when mil fed olly Lager & dn fed him coke but seeing as tho it was the 1st time we'd all been together in 5 years & the first time sil & mil had seen each other since they fell out 5 years ago I didn't feel like i could say anything!

Debs75 · 03/10/2011 10:25

Comix I am still feeding lucy but I have noticed it is losing its sleepy goodness. I struggled with dd2 for months trying to feed her to sleep, sometimes it took 2 hours to settle her on a night. Now at 3 she won't sleep without it, i wish I had tried a different method when she was 15-18m old.
The last 2 nights Lucy has gone to sleep with dp. I have realised that if I am not around when she gets really tired she will sleep on him and then he takes her to bed. She went up last night at 8.45 and didn't wake till 5am. That is the earliest she has gone to bed and the longest she has slept. she got in with me and had a feed then slept till almost 9, dd2 woke her up the little monkey. I think I will still feed her in the day but if she gets fretful on a night I will hand her over to dp and let her fall asleep on him

comixminx · 03/10/2011 11:10

How funny, perhaps it's a general thing at around this sort of time or something. I have just agreed with DP that he will do the night-time wakings at least for the next few days while my boob heals - will do daytime feeds for now (other boob!) and see how it goes.

The thing is that I've been finding it very frustrating trying to get her to sleep using the method that's never failed me until now - I've never had to get her to sleep another way! This morning and during one of her two awakenings last night I have managed to get her to sleep by shusshing, singing, and rocking but I almost find it annoying to have to do that because I've never had to until now... silly of me I know.

cinnamongreyhound · 03/10/2011 14:39

Thanks all, my ribs are still painfull but otherwise I'm fine.

Comixminx with ds1 I replaced his morning bf with cows milk in a beaker and he was fine with that and at bedtime, we were out one night so my mum did the same one night and again he was fine with it. I was nervous the next night when I gave it to him but he didn't care one way or the other. He didn't feed to sleep though, he sucked his thumb and that's what got him off, he stopped bf at 15 months. I am really not in a hurry with Luke but kind of vaguely have an idea of 18months but I don't feed him if he wakes in the night, just cuddles. He had a feed first thing and last thing, when he stayed with my mum in August he really wasn't bothered and when I babysat 2 weeks ago dh gave him a bottle and he only took 1oz. He also doesn't feed to sleep so can't help with that. He does do that hold on and pull his head back and does have 8 teeth but doesn't bite me. Good luck with weaning and healing!

Debs75 · 03/10/2011 18:19

Comix with dc1and2 I did the rocking to sleep and all the shushing. When dc3 came along she had to be as quiet as poss so as not to disturb dc2. That's where the feeding to sleep came in, that and it was freezing the first winter and I wasn't pacing the floor with her. She nods off when she feels poorly but if I try and not feed her to sleep she will scream the house down

MammyG · 03/10/2011 19:40

Happy Birthday Harlyn!
Wonderful news Sassy happy for you!
Thanks lumpy think I will start a thread ....if i ever have reliable internet again!! Have had such trouble. Cant get it to search and stay on. We have had war with the provider but unless we pay our full contract up we cant disconnect! Not fair - could really have done with being here chatting to you lot. My best mate has been away for weeks and isnt back til the middle of the month. A work colleague of mine hung herself on saturday. She was 58 and just so normal! by that I mean you wouldnt even know she suffered from depression. she was always so cheery and practical. She has two children in their 20's. Its just so shocking and doesnt make sense.
Im doing ok being back at work but the juggle is just so bloody wearing. I dont think Im being the best mum at the moment I seem to always be snapping. They are tires as they settle into the school year and DH and I are knackered too and working opposite to each other which even this early in the game is taking its toll (that was last weeks drama!) Ugh its just all going on!!! Ok thanks for the wah! xx

mapletrees · 03/10/2011 21:39

Happy Birthday Harlyn Grin Hope you've had lots of fun today...

MammyG That's very sad about your colleague. I hope things get better for you soon..

cinnamongreyhound · 04/10/2011 14:51

Happy birthday Arlo, hope you're all having a lovely day.

That is sad news MammyG, my mum's best friend when I was growing up lost her husband in the same way. He was found in his shop one morning and she had no idea that they had financial worries or he was unhappy in any way. Glad things are going well with being back at work even if it is hectic. It's very hard juggling everything and I hope you find a way to spend some time with your dh. I have to say I didn't think I was affected by childminding the number of children I was but I have much more patience now I have slightly lower numbers and am not rushing to take ds1 to school in the middle of the day every day.

patito · 04/10/2011 21:20

Hi everyone,

Sorry about last post, kind of rushed as Maia got sick and never got back again. Its just that the following day we went away on holiday and with two sick children and a 10 hr car journey looming i didn´t have time to get on and chat. The drive was horrible but we had a good week with my Sister and her two LO´s in Malaga.

Ive been trying to catch up but have missed so much that its impossible so will just try and go go along. Maybe we could do another summary round up:

Now they´re one:

Maia can walk now and does a lovely john wayne waddle round the playground

She is really tall but a bit on the skinny side. (weighing it at just 9 kgs Ds weighed that at 6 mths Old)

She has 6 teeth and no hair.

She can say (or at least I understand her!) Hola, Bye Bye and all gone.

Her favourite thing is putting bottle tops on bottles.

She eats everything and anything, but I think her favourite has to be tomato. She still BF at least twice a day, but often more.

I hope to stay in touch more regular as before.

sassy How are you getting on you must be getting close now (sorry I forgot your due date), must be really emotional going through the twins first Bday and getting ready for the birth all at the same time.

Hope everyones well.

patito · 04/10/2011 21:26

MammyG Have just read back on today, sorry to hear about your collegue. Sad. Sending my thoughts for you and your collegues.

Smile
mapletrees · 04/10/2011 21:47

Happy Birthday Arlo! Hope the baby of the group has had a lovely day. I can't believe they're all 1 now Grin

Sounds like a nightmare journey patito. Glad the holiday was good though...

Dixiebell · 05/10/2011 06:10

Thanks guys. Arlo had a lovely day at playgroup and at soft play with some of his baby mates. At the weekend we had a big family do, he started off a bit wary of all tge people but was delightful by the end, at one point sitting in tge centre of the room singing along to a nursery rhymes cd he was given while everyone watched!

He has been really sensitive since starting childminder sessions though, he won't let anyone but me, DH or nana hold him and cries hysterically if I leave the room for a moment, even if he's with familiar people. He's going for his third session today, so back to earth with a bang after the bday fun.

On the one yr roundup, Arlo can walk, run, bend to pick things up, turn...but when he loses his balance he still falls straight like a plank! No crawling at all. He loves cheese on toast, kicking and throwing balls, pointing out aeroplanes, cats and dogs, sleeps really well, has some hair starting to grow, and is gorgeous! Wink

beaditAli · 05/10/2011 13:36

Happy belated birthday Harlyn and Arlo xxx

Thought I might have missed more posts but the sunny weather has resulted in a pretty quiet few days on here! Grin
Took the wee man camping and boy does he like sand! Robin Hood's Bay is so lovely but the hilly streets don't make for brilliant pram pushing!
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.
Mammy Sorry to hear about your colleague Sad so shocking when it happens so suddenly too. I am struggling like mad at the moment with working whenever I get chance and having Jack ........ and I only have one child! I just don't know how you manage but those gorgeous lil faces no doubt keep you smiling! Grin

Officially no more helmet! YIPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Jack's update:
I can walk 4 or five steps and then collapse in fits of giggles
I don't like mince..... I store it in my mouth then dribble it all out when i've eaten what was around it!
I still like milk 3 times a day and am fast asleep at 7pm every night. Sometimes I like to shout for Mummy and Daddy at 5am but they ignore me so I just cuddle Iggle Piggle and sleep until about 7am
I've got 7 pearly whites!!! Grin
Big feet and long legs.
I'm a book worm
Only say Mamma, Dadda and Ogg! Everything with fluff and eyes is an 'Ogg'! Even Mummy sometimes is an 'Ogg'! Wink
I don't like very loud people
My favourite game is hide and seek and I love swinging really high in the park

MMR tomorrow Sad

Debs75 · 05/10/2011 14:04

Oh I like the update

Lucy:
I bum shuffle everywhere
I like to walk pushing my pram
My favourite game is walking around Daddy and shouting Hiya, then laughing so much I fall over
I have finally escaped Mummys bed and spend half the night in my cot. It is a bit small so then I wake up mum and sneak in with her
I like to kiss, well I try and eat you cos you always taste nice
I love my dsis and we have lots of cuddles
I have 6 teeth
I like the swings and slides at the park
I love food, especially messy food
I have tiny feet and hands
I am finally growing hair and it is blond/ginger
Mummy still gives me boobie if I cry for it so I won't be stopping anytime soon

cinnamongreyhound · 05/10/2011 14:39

Glad you've made a decision and are happy beaditAli. Luke was fine with MMR although they said the Rubella symptoms come 10-14 days afterwards.

Been in to ds1's school today and I was so proud of him, sat nicely, put his hand up and got the right answer as well as being able to do all the tasks. He's such a wonderful little boy I could cry, oh yeah except when I ask him to get dressed 100 times in the morning and he whinges all the way home from school in the afternoon Wink. Luke was a really good boy too until a little shit boy who was throwing carpet tiles around managed to hit him with one :(

I find these updates hard, always think oh yeah I could have put that after reading other peoples!
Luke has 8 teeth (plus 2 huge lumps where his top first molars are ready to errupt!), has been walking for a while and now is trying to run, LOVES being outside and give him a stick with some dirt to dig in and he's sooo happy! He eats pretty much everything but prefers to feed himself and is trying with a spoon now. He also loves posting things anywhere and everywhere, in mummy's mouth if he can get away with it! Very vocal but only distinguishable words are ta, Daddy, there and cat. He does also say raaah when you say dinosaur and makes some attempt at a car noise when he's pushing them around. He sleeps 7.30-7ish most nights and is still bf twice a day.

lumpylumps · 05/10/2011 19:17

Oooh! love updates!

Ollys update:
I refuse to walk unless i'm holding on to my walker and then I just run round in circles chasing db!
I did eat anything & everything but since I had "the pox" I've decided I fancy being picky for a bit!
I can say sit down, thankyou, oliver, I try hard to say toby and lots of other names but still everytime someone tries to get me to say Mummy I say Daddy Grin
I love going to nursery but am very pleased to come home again.
I go to bed between 6 & 6.30 with my milk & mussie which i chew on and sleep till 5.30 when i shout for milk. I get it (my mummys nicer than yours jack) then go back to sleep till 7.30
I have lots of lovely hair that people keep saying needs cutting & have just cut my 5th tooth!
I'm small like my db have size 2.5 feet and still wear 6-9 clothes!
My db is my bestest friend & I love love love playing with him!

MammyG sorry to hear about your collegue!

Beadit yey for the helmet free Jack!

Cinnamon glad ds1s getting on well at school!

Patito sounds like a nightmare

Happy birthday Arlo

Think thats everything!

beaditAli · 05/10/2011 19:32

Olly I do like your Mummy but my Mummy is the most wonderful in the world! Milk or no milk! Wink Although....... if I come to live at your house will I get out of having injections? Hmm

Jack Smile

comixminx · 05/10/2011 20:59

Aphra's update:
I walk with the Ministry of Funny Walks goose-steps, leaning backwards a lot! But I've got the hang of the fact that it's a way to get around that is a bit more fun than crawling, though not as fast still.
I have 4 teeth and more coming through at the moment, probably!
I am very babbly and vocal but can't yet say anything that my mum and dad have recognized as actual words yet.
I've given up biting mummy's nose (at the moment) but have taken to making her boob sore instead so daddy is giving me my night-time feed and mummy is doing my bath instead.
Generally I am very happy and cheerful but just at the moment I'm a bit fretful on occasion, maybe because I banged my head really hard on the end of the rocker chair. Ow! Still, hardly a sign of it in the morning, I must be a quick healer.

lumpylumps · 06/10/2011 19:34

Jack I hate to burst your bubble but my mummy is in fact the bestest in the world. Sorry!!! Also, Please come and play but no, it won't get you out of your jabs, I've had mine so you can have yours! [tongue sticky out emoticon]
Love olly

Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

Thats a bunch each for all of you! I've had some amazing news. My friends (I've mentioned them a few times) who have been waiting for ivf have had the treatment & its worked! She's pregnant. Its very early days but she is & its his, they didn't need a donor. There is only 1 way to explain how I feel for them and thats exactly how i felt when i found out i was pregnant! They're very special people!

Nothing from sassy for a few days.................................................
