Yay for grace! Luke woke up 5 but as I got out of bed to go to him he stopped crying and woke up 10 mins ago. AND he just took 2 steps Shock

cinnamongreyhound · 22/07/2011 11:50

Anyone bought a smart trike? My mum is pestering me for something to get Luke for his birthday and I was thinking it might be a nice present BUT there are so many different ones and I don't know what is the difference to make some so much more expensive! Where should I post on mn to ask, is chat best?

newmum001 · 22/07/2011 14:29

Cinnamon some of them recline which is what makes them more expensive but worth the extra imo. We're getting one for grace for her birthday! I want the purple one!

Well done luke on taking 2 steps!!!

But even the ones that don't recline are anywhere between £50 and £90 newmum001.

Quick post. Sorry to hear thes Sassy I hate it that employees have the right to decide who is close & who isn't. I have a cousin who is as close as a sister.

Cinammon we have one of these They're fab. I'm not saying get this one but make sure you get one that you can steer with the handle. I think thats one of the big differences.

bananacurry · 22/07/2011 18:45

Got a bit of wwyd situation! Just sorting out invites for the boys party. There's a girl who comes to toddlers who's got 2 girls. The eldest is 6 weeks younger than ds1 and the youngest 6 months younger than Olly so neither in the same school year. She's a real cling on & is really hard work. Her eldest is spoilt and doesn't play nicely. She snatches off the other children & her mum chooses to ignore it. If someone does it to her its a different story entirely. I managed to avoid her when she went back to work after her 1st but she got back in touch when she went on mat leave again. She came round & I would ask questions like "are you all ready for the new arrival?" Her reply "yes" conversation is sooo difficult & she's really self centered you have a head ache she has a brain tumour type & her children are obviously the most amazingly clever!

I really don't want to invite them but my conscience is telling me I should. I do feel a bit sorry for her but atthe same time I don't want the friendship. It sound selfish but neither me or the boys get anything from it. I find it hard enough to keep up with the friends I like. Do I just invite them to save argument or not to try to give her the hint????????

newmum001 · 22/07/2011 19:18

To be honest I wouldn't invite them and it sounds like she's only got herself to blame. She sounds a nightmare and you'd have a better time without her.

beaditAli · 22/07/2011 20:20

I agree with newmum..... lumps if she's that self centered she might insist her kids blow out the candles! Grin

cinnamon Jack has a Smart Trike at ours and one at my folk's. Ours steers from the handle and the other doesn't. Definitely get one that steers!! It is lovely to see him on it. He knows to hold the handle bars by himself and hasn't ever wobbled. Mum and Dad's garden is mahoosive so he gets bored really quickly in our piddly little grass patch!

DH had another op on his arm yesterday as the screws were working their way out the bone [grim emoticon] so bath times with a Jack that insists on flinging himself everywhere result in a very stiff back for Mummy. Anyone feeling their tummy muscles ache now we're hitting the 20lbs region??? I know everyone's different weights but you get me...... Smile I feel like i've been in a boxing ring today.

We've decided to be cheapos go minimal for his birthday and maybe just buy him his first pair of separate pjs and then go to CenterParks just after Christmas. I love it there Grin

Feeling like a bit of useless one today: my brother is in the Arctic doing some crazy earthquake research and my sister has been given a mahoosive slap on the back from school after her first year as Deputy Head...... I haven't had time to make 3 poxy orders this week Blush Blush maybe i'll just pretend to be Jade Jagger.... jewellery extraordinair! meeep meeeep meeep I can't even spell it!
God what a mope! IGNORE ME!

Is everyone getting/got umbrella/lightweight buugys???

They might be doing great things beadit but so are you! You've created a beautiful little boy! We've got (as have a few of us if I remember correctly) a chicco liteway stroller! Got it when grace was a few months old as my pram was a nightmare way too bulky! My mum has got a petite star zia casue her boot is teeny tiny and to be honest if I'd know about that before I bought the chicco I'd have got a zia instead. I do love them both tho!

beaditAli · 22/07/2011 20:42

I really want a Mamas and Papas Pipi in Seaside stripes newmum but DH keeps saying we should just share the one at my folk's house. Sad

hahahahah that reminds me of when i was pregnant and DH and Daisy's Dad [3 doors down] pictured babies in pushchairs that look like 1970's deck chairs!!! AS NEWBORNS!!!!! hahahahahahahahhahahahahaha Mamas and Papas and Mothercare became their worst nightmares! Grin

I just googled it, it's so cute. I do know a few people who've had problems with M&P pushchairs though but they can't all be iffy, it's a bloody massive company!

I personally don't think sharing works which is why grace has got 4 prams! Once I got my chicco one I didn't use my bebecar at all cause it just felt too bulky and I much prefered how lightweight and easy to store the chicco was in comparison. Maybe borrow ur parents one for a few days and if you think you'll get a lot of use out of it then buy another one,

I would probably end up inviting her but I don't think you should bananacurry! If she knows you're having a party and inviting others in the same circle then I'd cave but otherwise definitely don't!!!!

Sorry you're feeling rubbish beaditAli, I'm always amazed at how little people value raising children. I love my job and that I am an important part of those childrens lives but if I had enough money I'd be happy to 'just' be a sahm. Thanks for the smart trike advice, both the ones we're looking at are steering ones. I have the same pushchair I had for ds1 from birth, I don't like travel systems and the pushchair I have is from birth to 4. And I'm used to picking up carrying children up to ds1 who's 19Kg and Luke is the lightest so I don't really feel it! We are getting Luke this for his birthday and maybe an outfit.

Luke took 3 more steps this afternoon!!

cinnamongreyhound · 22/07/2011 22:26

Haven't heard from SeaChelles about her day out yet!?!?

sassy34264 · 22/07/2011 22:35

im the same as cinnamon , banana - if i was inviting others from the toddler group- i would have to invite her. i wouldnt want to, but it would make me feel bad if i didnt.
i just cant get into prams/gadgety things. they were all talking about them on my oct 11 thread and i just went awol for a few days. i just go all glazed over at anything technical or modelly make, ie, lg cookie blah blah or blah blah 2011 model! dp just rolls his eyes when i say, yes, but what colour is it!

Yep he's 13th, due 31st aug knew I was making the right choice with sept2010 thread!!

bananacurry · 23/07/2011 09:48

Cinnamon you read my mind! I was going to suggest we did a birthday list!

So, I was awake till 1am this morning cos of this party! Why am I making such a big deal out of it! I just kept thinking "if i'm inviting them then I need to invite them, If I cross them off then I can take them off but then it'll upset them etc etc etc" I'm condidering hiring a hall now because thats what the real problem is. I'm having it at home & has it stands now there are 20 children and 30 adults! Which is fine as long as it doesn't rain. Why am I such a people pleaser??? Arrrrrrrgh!

sassy34264 · 23/07/2011 12:50

awh, i cant believe my 2 little chickens are the oldest. isobel still fits in 3/6 month clothes! jacob is in 6/9month. chloe was a monster in comparison. in fact i might see if i can find her white book and see what the difference is. (now to figure out which box/bag/room it might be in ) Hmm
