Luke has just woken up from a 4 1/2hr nap!!!!!!!!!!!!

newmum001 · 09/08/2011 17:55

Cinnamon grace is staying at dp's mums on 1st october when we go out for my birthday and I feel really weird about it too. It'll be good for us to have a night out (trust me we really really need it) and not have to rush home. Also will be nice to have a lie in but I really hate the thought of her not being at home in her own cot! She stayed over twice when she was really little but this feels so much worse for some reason

MammyG · 09/08/2011 18:16

Thanks Debs & Cinnamon
DH went to france and they got two stages done and then major injury so back home. Going at it again in either sept or may. Im hoping for may (little bit mean as I know they as they really want to get it out of the way) but I have way to much on my plate at the mo. And Harry is starting school too! He is so excited - will go and buy the uniform next week. Cant think of him in it just yet - seems weird.
DS2 was up all night vomiting and with a temp. Great fun!
Cannot believe that silly woman and her children. DH works really late nights and I make sure he texts us to check in with us those evenings. Im here with them but one day I had a fall on the stairs when the boys were really young and it struck me that if something happened to me they would be on their own in the house till he got home at midnight! What is something happened to her while she was out running - who would know about her babies!! The frightening thing is there are loads of people who take such silly chances.

Debs75 · 09/08/2011 19:06

Newmum didn't realise they were that young. She is really selfish running and leaving them at home, anything could happen to them. And I don't just mean the usual fire or flood scenarios. I was convinced with dd1 that if I went out the front gate the house would just blow up with her in it. They are young enough to be victims of SIDS and how would she explain herself. I'm not going to bother with the thread though as it seems a lot of people think she is in the right.

saoirse86 · 09/08/2011 22:19

In that thread it was a friend of a friend who was writing it. Her friend knew this woman from a toddler group for mums of multiples. She said the triplets are now 3 years old and this was when they were about 4 months. It made it sound like it was a regular thing, not that it was just a few days or something. I can't believe that one person let alone so many people would think it was reasonable! Shock

mammyG and sassy good to hear from you both. I'm glad to hear you're both well, and mammyG I hope your DS is better soon.

seachelles if I came near you I actually don't think I could stop myself driving to cheshire oaks and that would not be good! Grin At the moment I have no money and my sister and I are giving in and spending about £1squillion on a double pushchair that's not rubbish. Blush

I want another whinge about the rioters. I hate what they're doing and I've been so angry and upset about it today. Yesterday some broke into a pub down the road from the one I work in. The landlord (who I know pretty well) was there with a friend cashing up. They attacked him, glassed him in the face and chucked him down the stairs to the cellar. Then stole his money and destroyed the place. Meanwhile his friend ran outside for help, found a load of police officers and told them what was happening, and one of them just shrugged and walked off! He went back and waited for them to leave then had to take him to the hospital where he's been ever since. I feel so angry and there's just nothing anyone can do. Angry Sad

newmum001 · 10/08/2011 07:18

Saoirse that's awful! On the news last night it showed a car on fire in west brom and one police officer gave the thumbs up and was smiling at another. Now don't get me wrong it could have looked like they were joking when in fact they weren't and I'm in no way sayinh that they're not doing their job properly but there were 16000 officers sent to london yesterday and the rest of the country was being looted instead. I have a lot of friends that live in manchester city centre and they said it was really really frightening last night! It just makes me so angry that people would do this to the city they live in.
A few years ago there was a big football match in manchester (rangers and england or something) and thousands of rangers fans trashed the city centre and the local people were in up roar trying to protect their city, now it's them doing it for no apparent reason. Makes me sick!

saoirse86 · 10/08/2011 11:46

It so ridiculous isn't it! TBH it seems that most of what's going on in Birmingham is people coming from areas just north of the city centre coming into the centre to trash the place. I'm sure they'd never do it in their own street! Yesterday we went out to a friend's (a bit further into town than I am) and on our way back there were loads of young boys on mopeds with L plates heading towards my local high street. The high street ended up being shut down in the afternoon because they're doing it there too. Sad

Does anyone know what Liverpool's like at the moment? We're going up tomorrow and staying in a hotel in the centre bit where all the bars are. There's also no car park so I was going to have to park on the street but might try to find a safe car park if there's trouble.

SeaChelles · 10/08/2011 12:03

Soairse Liverpool city centre is not bad. Well at the moment anyway. Its in the rougher area's such as Toxteth and Croxteth. Although I would recommend you try and find a car park in Liverpool even when there is no rioting as clamping and ticketing is a nightmare!

Well DP has just gone off in his riot gear in the van. He thinks he is going to be sent to Manchester rather than London, which is a small blessing I guess, but still scared.... Sad

saoirse86 · 10/08/2011 12:21

We're actually staying just up the road from where she lived before. I used to hate the parking situation. I'd park outside after 6. We'd go out and then I'd have to be up at 8am to move it or pay a fortune for an hour! I had a lot of near misses with parking tickets often due to a hangover! Blush I might just pay the extra and save the hassle.

SeaChelles I hope your DP is ok and home before too late. Smile

newmum001 · 10/08/2011 13:10

Chelle I hope your dp is ok. Loads of my friends live/work in manchester city centre (I'm just on the outskirts) and there doesn't seem to be any trouble today although last night was pretty bad. However it does seem much better controlled than london was and lots of the decent shops have already been looted so hopefully that'll be the end of it!

Debs75 · 10/08/2011 13:15

Took the DD's swimming today and had a great time. Lucy was walking in the shallow end and then did some surfing on a small float. she loved that and was grinning away and kicking her feet.
In the end we had to get out as she was falling asleep and is still asleep now.

Chelle hope Dp is ok

mellymooks · 10/08/2011 13:21

Hello everyone!! Long time no thread for me!! Sorry I know I haven't a chance of catching up with all that's been going on, I just don't seem to get much chance to log in anymore. I hope anyone near the riots are ok? It's crazy stuff, I hope it dies down soon.

Flynn is walking full throttle now and I'm struggling to keep tabs on him he's so bloody fast!! We've just been camping and it was very ahem challenging to keep him away from the stove!!

So what have I missed? Is anyone else pregnant? Anyone else got a speedy one? Anyone apart from me still not getting much sleep? Anyone still BF? I am but really want to start slowing it down now, though I don't think Flynn will be too impressed with that!

No more babies for us and this time next week that will be official as DP goes for the snip!!

So go on give me some brief updates on you and your LO's and I'll try and keep up!

Flynn - walking, chattering, singing, dancing, eating so much, clapping, waving, 6 teeth, the cheekiest smile, sleeping about 5 hrs a night (if I'm lucky), loves the bath, hates swimming pools, eats sand (euch!) gives you kisses (quite often just after eating said sand Grin ) So cuddly, quite clingy right now, hates it if he can't see me, adores his big sis, laughs alot, makes my heart sing with joy!

Flynn 10 and half months.

Debs75 · 10/08/2011 13:31

Hi Melly
No more kids for us
Still bfing although she isn't as greedy as she was
Almost walking, a bit wobbly, trying to crawl but flops, likes bum shuffling
Getting very little sleep but surviving
She loves her Dsis's and laughs non-stop with dd2
Still sleeping with me but is sleeping a bit better
Has 4 teeth now. OW!
Is a bit clingy when I leave a room

1 year on Sunday. YAY!

cinnamongreyhound · 10/08/2011 14:03

Hi Mellymooks your dp is brave! Mine doesn't want anymore but wouldn't go that far! I would love another and not so I can have a girl just because I can't imagine never being pregnant or having another baby again. Luke is bum shuffling very quickly and taking 5-6steps at a time but if it's more than that he drops to his bum. He's a very smiley sociable little thing, waves, claps, dances, loves posting things in holes, loves any kind of water, into EVERYTHING which he then puts in his mouth! Loves his mum but not to bothered to be without me. Has 8 teeth although the last 2 only arrived a week ago. He is still breastfeeding 3 times a day and I am not desparate to stops, fed ds1 until 15 months.

Hope your dp comes home safely SeaChelles, sure he'll be absolutely fine!

mellymooks · 10/08/2011 14:50

cinnamon he doesn't think it's brave, just says it's the least he can do considering I've done two pregnancies, two labours and two years of BF!!
Flynn is BF heaps still at least 5 times a day and once sometimes twice in the night, despite the fact that he is also eating 3 meals a day!! Hence why I would like to start cutting down, ideally I would like to get him to a feed in the morning and evening, but no idea how to do that!
I fed Kaesha for 13 months but then had to stop abruptly due to surgery and I was heartbroken, I think I would have carried on alot longer with her if that hadn't happened.

cinnamongreyhound · 10/08/2011 16:17

I didn't mean brave as in pain I just meant it's very final, brave to be so sure you've finished having children. Not that I want to start a debate about the pros and cons of birth control! I was worrying a couple of weeks ago that Luke was having too many at 3 day! Luke doesn't feed at night anymore even if he wakes it's not for milk thankfully. Good luck with cutting down.

mellymooks · 10/08/2011 17:36

Ahh I see I misunderstood! Yes we are sure, it's weird, didn't know I would feel this certain, that we both would, but for us our family is totally complete. I don't think my body could take a third pregnancy and I'm getting too old as well Wink

bananacurry · 10/08/2011 18:33

Evening all!

Melly we're not planning on having anymore. Have just sold all the baby gear. I'm a bit gutted about never going through pregnancy & birth again tho so never say never. Speedy crawler & cruiser but still not ready to be off on his own just yet! Sleeps through but wakes at 5am. Sometimes has milk & goes back off till 7, mostly doesn't tho! Super cute cheeky little personality, adores his food & loves feeding himself. still only got 4 teeth but more coming! 1st taster session at nursery on friday & I'm going back to work on 3rd sept Sad Smile

Well, I went and bought all the supplies for ds1s birthday cake today. I'm going to have a trial run on fri while they're at nursery and we'll be able to use that one on his birthday (16th) then make another one for the party on the 28th. My friend told me about a shop that does a bit of everything, kitchen equipment etc. They also hire out cake tins so I've hired the 1 to do Ollys cake. Its only costing me £2!!! Also found a better venue for the party thats £6 cheaper!!!

SeaChelles · 10/08/2011 19:37

My god!! DP's parents are driving me f*cking INSANE!!!!!!! Angry They are annoying in general i.e. always turn up an hour before they say they will when we have specifically told them we wont be here and making us rush home or when Olly is in bed for his afternoon nap and waking him up early.

But they always ring the house at ridiculous times - during dinner or more annoyingly always between 18:45 and 19:00 just when Olly is having quiet time and being put down to bed. So last night the house phone rings twice and my mobile once all in the space of 5 minutes at 18:50 while I am trying to put Olly down and wakes him up twice! Grrrrr. Knew it was them as did 1471 and caller ID. DP obviously not here due to policing riots etc. So I said to him when he got home "ring your parents - tell them not to ring between 18:30 and 19:30 as they keep waking olly up and its hard enough putting him to bed on my own as it is!" so he does this and they say - ok.

Lo and behold - tonight - 18:55 - phone rings - guess fecking who!? I legged it down the stairs as thought it might be DP (as not heard from him since lunch) and its bloody them! I just said "I'm putting the baby to bed sorry" and said bye and hung up. Idiots! Luckily he stayed asleep or I would have been really annoyed! Why cant they just listen!! Grrr! Angry Sorry! Rant over!!

So yes, still not heard from DP - he's supposed to be home at half 8 but phone keeps going to answerphone. Hope he is ok.

Melly - Olly is 10.5 months. 3 and a half teeth! Walks when he can be bothered but knows crawling gets him to where he wants to be quicker! Says Mama and Dada. My mum is his third fave person in the world. Can't help but laugh uncontrollably when ever you touch his belly. Loves yoghurts more than any other food and eats well. We are having a joint birthday and christening for him on 18th Sept.

Sorry monster post! I'll go back to my hole now! Grin

comixminx · 10/08/2011 21:44

Saiorse, my parents live in Liverpool right near Toxteth and even then it's not too bad - Dad drove his motorbike yesterday at about 6 pm or so, I think he said, down Smithdown Lane which has been namechecked as one of the riot areas. There was a car with its windscreen broken and a glazier that was boarded up but other than that not much sign of trouble.

Chelle, good luck for your DP - I'm sure things are calming down now. And yes, how annoying that is of your DP's parents!

Hi melly, we're hoping for a second baby but so far are just "not trying to stop it" rather than actively monitoring etc. That's partly because I've only had one period since Aphra was born so I want to keep track of that for a bit to get a pattern - that's what worked for us last time. If we manage to have two babies then probably DP would go for the snip after that. Aphra has only got two teeth at the moment but I think I saw a bit of enamel poking through her top gum so she'll have three or four very soon (though we've been saying that for a long time!). She's very active and mobile, very curious and grinny, though not very advanced on language as yet. She's recently got a sense of stuff being funny or silly, which is lovely to see; and likewise she has just recently started to be ticklish.

Not much time to post, will do a proper one later? Can I ask a really personal question (that no one has to answer if it's a bit eww) but how much sex is everyone having and would you prefer it to be more or less? I have no sex drive what so ever and as of right now I would be quite happy to never have sex again I think. This is obviously causing a few problems with me and dp but I just really can't be arsed with it. It's probably a combination of still having baby weight and body issues (which I've always had) being tired, prefering to just chill and being scared of waking grace up but I'm a bit worried that my sex drive is gone forever! Obviously it's not going to be like it was before we had grace but non at all is causing a lot of tension! Just wondering if I'm a bit of a freak or if others have noticed a change too?

Newmum do not fear! You've just described my sex drive and that of most of my friends who have children. I worry that its gone for ever but at the same time don't really care! We probably have sex every other saturday night! Only on a saturday night & only after a couple of drinks to relax me!

I'm very weepy today. I go back to work 3 weeks today, The boys have their 1st session at nursery tomorrow, Toby will be 3 in less than a week, Olly will be 1 in less than 3 weeks. Olly is having his last ever formula feed this afternoon and will then be on cows milk all the time. Its all growing up & has to happen but its come round so quick & its all at once. I want to go back to work, and need to financially but also if I give up my job I'll never get one as good or convenient and have to keep my registration. This last year has been the best & I'm so sad that its all over. Oh crap, now I've actually made myself cry!!!
