ledkr · 29/07/2011 22:57

yeah dilly has turned a corner me thinks.
puss poor old you.I had the full tearing and 5 million stitches with ds1 im still a bit interesting down there Grin take no notice of my sex drive,im in my 40's-peak time and desperate and went without for years and have avery gorgeous younger dh CAN YOU BLAME ME?
ponyo i wont be beaten in the poor mum stakes, dilly had some rose wine off my finger on hols,Ella scowled at me,Dilly lunged for my glass at every available oppotunity after (which was obviouslt quite a lot)
btw,she drinks water from a 2 handled cup now which she lifts herself and goes mmm when she drinks it-one extreme to the other with her.
wiggles Shock at poor Olivias potential 5 degree burns.

wigglesrock · 30/07/2011 08:15

Anna was grand in her own room last night Grin She was a bit wtf when I put her down but settled no problem, she is still having a bottle at about 2amish and she went back to bed after that - it is also the latest she's slept in months!!!

ledkr D is doing really well with the cup, I keep perserving with A, its a bit hit and miss.

Trying to get Olivias nursery school uniform today, away to fight over the last pair of age 3 navy joggers in Asda and don't even start me on the elusive indoor shoes, now selling in Tescos for £2, there's practically a queue at the door Grin

debka know you are all away this weekend - hope you are enjoying yourself!

ledkr · 30/07/2011 09:03

They are defo better in own rooms,i love putting on my tv and lights when i go to bed,oh and flushing the toilet woo.
I had the same with my skinny Ella for school, went in aged 3-4 uniform bless her. Try e bay for the pumps too.
Just waiting to see how the weather is before i pack my picnic for the pool.

wigglesrock · 30/07/2011 09:12

ledkr Grin I know Mr W had the noisiest shower this morning, complete with whistling! Hope weather holds.

ledkr · 30/07/2011 09:13

Haha,i am drwn to my bed about 8 now,ive changed the bedding, got new blinds all it needs now is agood clean,my hair is still shedding and the floor is covered in it Shock

reastie · 30/07/2011 10:57

Grin at this talk of loud showers and flushing loos and Envy at the fact that you must have en suites

wiggles and ledkr glad the sleeping arrangements are working out for you both. We still have alice next door with dh in the spare room :( Need to sort out the laundry nursery and then maybe in a week or so we'll move her. She's had a massive sleep this morning so thinking of waking her up or she might never want to go to bed again tonight.

Weather looks good today so we are hoping to go to a park this afternoon Grin .

CBT man says I need to do more things for me (ie hobbies) to help relax me/give me something else to think about. Any ideas? I actually can't think of anything I want to do that I have time to do other than sewing which I used to do alot, but could get nasty if I'm holding alice at the same time Shock Wink

ledkr · 30/07/2011 11:20

reastie en suite is bit grand, its a room the width of a shower tray with shower sink and bog,i love it tho, twas essential as the Mum of 3 teen boys Grin
Id get out tbh,i hate staying in.Can you walk to the park and sit on a blanket with Alice and read a book whilst she plays, they love being out imho. As an old hand at this parenting thing id say that is my biggest tip. I have my picnic packed and am off to the pool for the day even tho not that hot, just nice to get out.
As for hobbies its up to you really,i dont have any cos i feel the kids are my hobby and planning what to do with them next.I like to read a bit and watch films/crap tv,you will find hobbies do take a back seat for a bit,who wants to start a bit of needle point or macrame when the kids finally settle lol.
How about a Zumba class? I was going to shred today but i had a cava headache.

Funny thing here is that Dilly no longer bathes on her back, she flips over and swims on her belly like a fat penguin on the ice.The best is when the water has gone she slides really fast to get to the plug,me and dh pull her back and are in hysterics watching her slip back down at lightening speed Grin

ledkr · 30/07/2011 11:23

oh yes wiggs new tv obsession is Torch wood, however John Barrowman doesnt have the same effect on me as Idris. In fact he still brings on itchy teeth. There is another fit black guy in it tho,i do drool,dh reckons im going to leave him soon for a black guy Grin

NeedToSleepZZZ · 30/07/2011 12:22

Afternoon all,
Hope you're all having good Saturdays.
I have to agree with ledkr about getting out, I try to everyday as if I'm indoors the days seem so much longer and b gets frustrated. He's shopping with OH now and I'm doing the big weekend clean. Will pop to the park later though.

All this talk about dtd makes me laugh, OH and I have managed to twice since b was born. He, B, has been in his own room for about a month now and we haven't looked back. He was too big for his crib and kept waking himself up, he's much happier in his massive cot bed (seriously, think I could get in there!). I have a sensor monitor and I know what you mean about it not being as reliable in the cot but I've put the pad sort of in the middle under the mattress and it's doing okay now. The alarm is horrible and makes me feel sick every time I hear it so have turned it off. I think I've developed a fear of getting pg again and even though I have the coil I get a bit scared of dtd but am starting to relax a bit now. Sorry to hear about the op pussing, hope all goes well.

ledkr I'm not actually back at work, I resigned last November but I'm just going in to do a bit of admin here and there and although I was dreading it it's been great with adult conversation and everything. I'm not going to go back to work full time until b is in school as we're not having any more DCs and want to make the most of this time, even if it means we're poor!

I was starting to doubt b's readiness for food yesterday but bought some bicciepegs and he LOVES them. I also gave him a few crumbs of pastry and he loved that too so maybe he just doesn't like pureed stuff??? I don't know, it's so hard to tell.

Glad to see I don't have a challenger for Dominic west, is it okay to have first dibs with Carver (don't know his real name) too? Wink I bought a copy of Generation Kill yesterday and will start watching that tonight when OH is at the cinema. It's written by the same people that wrote the wire so I'm expecting good things!

wiggles love the girls' rooms, I bet they love being in them. I had to share with my smelly brother until I was nine and really wanted a girly room.

Oh, want to say big hello to 40, haven't been in touch but hope you're okay Smile.

Phew, sorry for rambling on again, will go and put clean linen on the bed. I'm not shedding any hair but it's coming back curly on one side of my head Hmm

NeedToSleepZZZ · 30/07/2011 12:24

Oh and very pfb I know but B is six months today! Cannot believe it! Smile

NeedToSleepZZZ · 30/07/2011 12:29

Oh and reastie, I think you could develop your mnetting into a proper hobby no? Seriously, I have one night off a week where i go to a friend's house and just pit my feet up and thats relaxation for me now. Anything, just as long as you can focus on you is relaxation now Grin

40Weeks · 30/07/2011 13:28

Hello thanks for the hello

ledkr I luv the cava headache, it's almost the best kind to have Grin

wiggles love the girls rooms and that you caught them on camera for the small window where they look like that! "see, proof" I hear you saying Ina few years time

We are at Swanley Park today by the open air pool, it's a small kids one with water jets next to it, there is a massive sandpit and a few play areas, a boating lake and the boys love it. I am in a deck chair and the sun is shining. They are on the bouncy castle and M is asleep next to me.

reastie what about an eve class or a book club? Or buy a foot spa or something and make sure that once or twice a week you make time to sit with your feet in bubbles with a good book?

I have a hen do tonight, 1920s murder mystery. Mixed feelings!

needto 6 months today! Not pfb at all, that's half way to their first birthday! I can't believe how quickly it goes. The days drag but the years fly by, how true of motherhood!

OP posts:
wigglesrock · 30/07/2011 14:48

NeedToSleep wow 6 months, hope you've eaten half a cake Grin My sister loved Generation Kill - theres someone in it I'm supposed to like but can't think who!

40Weeks Day sounds lovely, we ended up at my Mum and Dads having a picnic out in the front garden Hmm Its really hot here and I didn't think it was supposed to be, I'd have taken the girls away if I'd known.

ledkr Grin at cava headache. I can't watch John Barrowman, my Mum fancies him and its too weird Grin

reastie Yes you need to get out, agree with everything Mama Ledkr said - I can't stay in the house at all, even when I just had Sofia I used to bring her and the dog out to the park for hours. No to the sewing you need a hobby where you just do something for you, nothing "chore" like, no sewing, cooking, baking etc.

You should set yourself a challenge, every 2 weeks you need to do something on your own until you get used to it, it can be really simple, get your Mum to watch Alice, buy some mags and go to cafe, library, park and read them, go to the cinema if not with someone, on your own, I used to love going to the cinema on my own when I was visiting my sister. Just build it up until you find something you want to do. Here endeth the lesson Grin

WeAreBorg · 30/07/2011 16:04

Congratulations need to, time flies. I remember thinking how old 6month old babies seemed and assumed they were pretty much self caring by then!
wiggles my mum bizarrely fancies alan hansen and I too cannot watch him for the weirdness of it. The one you are supposed to like in Generation Kill is played by Alexander Skarsgard but I don't know his name in the prog.

whoops DS screaming in his jumperoo, will need to rescue

reastie · 30/07/2011 17:18

6 months needto where did the time go? Why can't time go this quickly when we were pg Wink

I can't watch john barrowman at all still. Even his advert for his bbc1 talenty thing makes me cringe. No idea why.

Well, we sat in the garden this afternoon for a couple of hours, twas v relaxing. I did a bit of sewing while alice had a nap. I also had a 5 minute cycle ride [sore bum] . wiggles this sounds odd but I don't think I'd have the patience to sit down and read a magazine somewhere on my own - I'd feel like there was more important things to do or that I should b doing something more productive Blush . Maybe that shows I really do need to so something on my own. I feel guilty asking my mum to help out with alice more as she had her every friday morning at the minute for my cbt and lets not mention mil as that will send blood pressure through the roof . Just have to think of something I want to do on my own I suppose. Maybe a shopping trip Hmm

40 never been to swanley park before but it sounds v nice

ledkr I love the idea of an excercise class but - got to build fitness up first as still can't really even walk that much Blush . I don't think zumba is for me though - I prefer the cheographed routines where everyone does the same move and you use your nog to remember routines. I was thinking that this morning - once I can physically get to my gym classes and when alice is on a bit more solids so I cna leave her for longer I will love to do a class or two a week.

Has anyone heard of anyone asking their employer for longer than mat leave off? I really don't want to lose my job as I've been thinking alot about returning to work and I want to keep my school job as I think when alice gets a little older it will be perfect, it's just until she can have the free government nursery thingy things are v tricky re: leaving her with mil and I really really want to take another year off (or just work ocassionally) . I'm debating asking if they will consider (if my supply wants to) asking my supply to fill in longer and keep my job for me. Workplace may say no, supply may say no, just wondered what your thoughts were on if you think this sounds unreasonable/if you know of anyone who has done this before Hmm

ledkr love penguin dilly Grin

Emski76 · 30/07/2011 19:22

Ledkr, well done to Dilly for her eating and sleeping! She really had turned a corner!
Puss, good luck with your op.
Wiggles, glad A was ok in het own room. There's nothing like being able to make a noise and have a light on in your own bedroom without worrying about disturbing a baby!
Reastie, the only thing I really do for me at the moment is running, altho I have to run around the house like a mad woman getting everything ready for the boys before I go! I'm hoping to go back to Rainbows in Sept too. I agree with the others that the smallest things fir yourself can feel like the biggest thing when your with a baby all day. An evening class is a good idea, 40.
I also find that going out everyday really helps. I swear the security guard at my local supermarket thinks I'm a thief, I'm in there so often!
Reastie, I've not heard of anyone asking for that long off work but it's worth asking. Would you go back earlier if they said no to the extended leave?
We went to the local flower and country show today, it was great. Ben had a go at circus skills with dh, went on a fire engine and on a climbing wall! I was so proud watching him climb the wall! He cried halfway up then went on a different wall! Ive got some pics I'll put on tomorrow.
I've got a day to myself tomorrow. Dh us taking the boys to the in laws. Yippee for me!

ledkr · 30/07/2011 19:37

Reastie id post on the employment rights board re that,im going back in dec or jan but will take a day aweek leave so only do a day and a half,im ok with working its just getting there,it may be the making of you tho.

The pool was nice but i made the mistake of popping to a friend and having some wine, now feel woozy and incapable and have insisted dh does the bath so i can cook-i made it sound elaborate frying some ,mince and pouring sauce over it Grin
Dilly has been saying mamamamam all day sweet but annoying after 12 hrs

ledkr · 30/07/2011 19:42

need to im not liking Dom West, hes abit wonky iyswim and flat footed.I like the idae of the gen thing will purchase asap, have you seen any yet to recommend it? Why only one ds?is it that bad haha.I like the idea of being a sahm but i also like the money and am a bugger for holidays, its all i do,look for the next one.
Listen to me waffling, you can tell ive had a drink Blush

ledkr · 30/07/2011 19:43

last one i promise but when i read Emski's post i laughed at the thought of all the feb ladies galavanting around our newly reclaimed rooms with all the lights on.

wigglesrock · 30/07/2011 20:11

ledkr I wouldn't worry - I read Emskis' post and thought her dh went on a fire engine and climbing wall, and I don't even have the excuse of having a drink Grin I don't like Dominic West either and I don't know why Hmm

emski your day sounds lovely, once I read it right Blush Enjoy tomorrow, am heading up to my mums tomorrow so will have a bit of break, Mr W is working all weekend.

reastie agree post on Employment they're brill. I've done both worked part-time with Sofia and stayed at home for 2.5 years after Olivia was born. If work says no, and you resign can you return as a supply teacher in a couple of years? The free nursery hours are what Olivia was doing this year, its proper nursery she starts in Sept, but getting the places are like hens teeth here Hmm

debka · 30/07/2011 20:56

Hi everyone,

Got a bit panicky because this thread had MOVED off my I'm On section- I guess it's been a while since I posted! Been busy-ish, we went to the New Forest show but did it in one day, took four loooong hours to get there and almost that to get back. My new Moby Wrap performed magnificently though Grin

Had a bad few nights, lots of feeding, and some random wakings too, plus early mornings, 5.15 today. Yawn. S is eating for England now though, she has three meals a day of mashed up something home made- probably the equivalent of a jar of food every meal Shock, plus normal bfeeds!

Can't believe our babies are turning 6 months and still nowhere near sleeping through

Sorry I've got too behind for individual replies but glad everyone is well and hope you all have good weekends :)

Off to bed now.

reastie · 30/07/2011 21:50

ledkr on the wine again eh?! Grin

deb glad your sling is working well - I must google this amazing moby wrap (which whenever is mentioned I just think of the geeky looking music man moby Hmm )

have posted on employment thanks for advice there

Something very odd has hapened to alice this evening - she's sleeping . No idea what has happened Hmm . I asked dh to give her a bath at 5 instead of 6/7 to see if we could trick her into going to bed early. We then took her for a little walk in her pram and she fell asleep and was sleeping downstairs in the pram until half an hour ago when I brought her upstairs, gave her a dream feed and put her in her cot - no nonsense or anything . Maybe it was the early bath or all the fresh air or just fluke but she hasn't slept all evening like this in at least 2 months Grin. DH used the time to catch up on 'the killing' Hmm . Hopefully she won't wake up all night hungry as usually she feeds on and off all evening....wish dh and I luck that tonight is a good night and not a one off

Emski76 · 30/07/2011 21:57

Good luck for tonight Reastie, fingers crossed little Alice sleeps all night and that it is the start of something good!
Night all

ledkr · 30/07/2011 22:08

well done reasties alice long may it continue.Dilly was slow to feed but settled fine, she did 8-7 last night so fingers crossed.

wiggles i re read ems post and can see why you thought that, ,sniggers childishly at the thought of mr emski on a fire engine playing with the firemans helmets> oh grow up ledkr Grin Dom west has just played Fred West in a film (i know lots about that case btw) some how that made him even less appealing,i thought he was minging in the wire all that curly hair and gappy teeth.

The vino has worn off now.
